Fish not cooked. Staff informed. Not much feed back considering it is a fish restaurant. Disappointing.

This restaurant is such a gem. The ambience of the place is very special and a warm welcome greets you as soon as you step through the door. It is very difficult to choose from the extensive menu and daily specials. We have dined in the attractively themed restaurant a number of times and always come away very happy. Our visit yesterday was amazing, The Fish Grill was totally delicious and great value for money. The Thai Spiced Halibut is to die for, look forward to returning to have this dish again next time. All in all another fabulous experience.at Humber Fish!

Amazing food and a brilliant atmosphere.

Food we had was very good, sadly though, so many of the dishes we wanted were unavailable so had to settle for second or third choice on nearly every dish .

We tried the lunch time deal which is £20 for two courses. My starter was a prawn and crab cocktail, this dish was mainly salad with very little prawns and crab. Plus the prawns tasted like cooked from frozen not fresh. For the main course I had fish and chips. I was expecting a full fish but unfortunately it was a very small slice of fish and small portion of chips. Unfortunately after eating my lunch I was still hungry and ended up paying for some more food elsewhere It was a £20 snack

Good food but as soon as our dish came, there was hair in it and as we pointed it out to the waitress, she took the hair out and expected us to keep eating. They later said they wouldn’t replace our meal and when the bill arrived, they charged us for all the dishes including the one with hair in it which we didn’t eat. I asked the waitress why we are being charged with this and she took the bill to the manager to change it. The manager came back without any changes to the bill thinking we wouldn’t notice and when I asked why, they stated that it happened because it was a “windy day” and it wasn’t the chef as he is bald. We are very disappointed with the service as we come here often.

Hard to beat first class food and service. Not vastly expensive either. Perfect friendly lunchtime. Thank you.

The sea bass was excellent! Crowded and crowded!

Having been to some of the best seafood restaurants in the UK, I know good food and this is definitely not it. FYI when someone orders a medium/ well done steak, the centre should not be raw. Offering to recook a half eaten steak is beyond amateurish. I think you’ll find that we ate half our poorly cooked food. Prawns overly salted and cooked so long they had the texture of rubber. Butter served so cold that it resembled cheese. We didn’t even attempt to spread it on the stale bread served with the starters. I’m thankful that I didn’t order the lobster given the shocking scallop dish you served. The lack of finesse in your cooking is astounding given the reviews. Scallops cooked in a mustard leek sludge? If you think that makes me a keyboard warrior then you clearly are as limited in your views as your chef is in their abilities. BTW charging £3 for a garlic butter given our £150 bill for lunch is pathetic!

Best fish restaurant in Hull. Love this place.

Walked in and told the waitress we had a table booked, as I was awaiting to be sat a waiter literally walked in-between me and my partner, why couldn't he just wait rather than walking between us? The starter was really nice, it was a spring roll, the main wasn't that nice, just tasted of tomato rather than any fish taste. Really over priced, which I full expected but definitely above it's station. Atmosphere was strange, a really nice chilled place with nice deco with dance music blasting out. EDIT FOR RESPONSE: The waiter didn't realise, but that's where staff training comes in, simply wait until your customers are seated, then carry on with your job.

I was a bit wary after seeing the owner's robust responses to the odd negative review. I shouldn't have worried. The food was superb, also reasonably priced. Service very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had a fantastic lunch here today and I would recommend it to anyone! It was our first time and it most definitely won't be our last. We both had the seafood diablo and it was amazing,a generous portion and seafood cooked to perfection. The staff couldn't of been nicer and more welcoming. We look forward to next time!

The best fish and chips in town

A trip to the city with six other friends required us to find somewhere for the evening meal and we took a chance on here. We landed on our feet completely. We were surprised that we had been asked for what we wanted to order at the time of booking however we all felt that worked brilliantly once in the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their starter and main, portions were probably larger than they needed to be but better that than feeling they were too small. Only one of us could manage a dessert! I had the pepper squid to start which was beautifully cooked, wonderful texture and flavour and for main I had the seafood diablo, it had a nice kick however each piece of seafood was cooked well. We all left very happy and would not hesitate to return or recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I love fish restaurants and have been to them all over the world but this is the best food, service and ambiance.

We visit each year for a birthday meal. The menu is great (fish focused, obviously) and we like the atmosphere. There are cheaper places to eat in the city, but none better.

Nice friendly staff, very helpful and gave good suggestions about the menu. Food was good, well cooked.

Wow, incredible. I was a bit apprehensive as I am not a massive seafood eater but it was worth the risk. It was amazing. Some small canapés on arrival were very nice. I had the surf and turf spring roll to start and my partner had the squid. Spring was spot on. I had the sriracha monkfish main and they had the scallop thermidor, both spot on. We also tried the oysters, I've never had before, not sure they are for me but my partner liked them and they came with a nice selection of toppings. Cocktail was good as well. Will definitely be coming back

Humber Fish is a refined restaurant that serves locally sourced fish excellently. The service and atmosphere are top notch and everything down to the bread baskets has that extra bit of flavour you don’t always get elsewhere. I highly recommend the seafood diablo for spice lovers and you definitely won’t leave hungry!

Was in for a meal on New years eve. Was great. Slightly oddly I don't eat any seafood but they do an excellent steak so I was very happy.

Had been looking forward to this due to seemingly a lot of good reviews but definitely let down, whilst the food was nice it was not much more than that. The Diablo was not spicy at all and was essentially just a tomato sauce. The sriracha monkfish described as a “spiced batter” was just posh fish and chips? Without the sriracha Mayo there would have been no flavour at all. One of the waitresses was lovely and the other lacked customer service completely. Nice to experience but probably wouldn’t return!

Took our daughter for her Birthday- she was so excited to try lobster - whole lobster cost us £90 but came without claws - which was very odd ??? Felt a little cheated to be honest - £200 bill - so not cheap - but nice food otherwise

Six of us Starters and main cause drinks 300 pounds good food good service and value

Me and my partner were seated promptly at our table by a lovely staff member, all was well until one male waiter presented our menus and took our drink orders. For context I was very obviously on a date with my partner and so was wearing a nice dress which happened to show some of my chest. Both me and my partner noticed all throughout the night this one particular waiter unashamedly stare at my chest, making me very uncomfortable and dampening the mood of what was supposed to be a lovely evening. As we were leaving he leaned too close for comfort as he said goodbye just to top it off. In regards to food, it was generally okay but I don’t believe the seafood diablo was at all value for money as the sauce seems to entirely rely on its spiciness for its flavour. My partner described his sriracha monkfish as “watery” and “relying on the sauce for flavour”. Also, “chips were good”. The service from everyone except the aforementioned waiter was great and we hold nothing against them. Edit to respond to owners comment: Yes, it is my own opinion about the seafood diablo because, shocker, this is a personal review. If I appeared abrupt to the waiter in question it might have been because him repeatedly and blatantly staring at my chest made me uncomfortable. Someone else in the same scenario could have been far more outspoken about it in person. My boyfriend emailed you yesterday to ask if anything has been done in regards to warning the waiter about making someone uncomfortable but by the looks of your review responses I can believe that no action will be taken. It seems you would prefer to accuse me of being abrupt instead of considering the possibility your waiter may have been a creep. Final point, just because a review is negative does not mean it is unfair. Take the criticism on the chin and do better in the future.

They give great service. The portions are generous. The food is delicious

Visited here on recommendation and after reading some great reviews. The meals purchased on this visit was The East Coast Fish and Chips and The Fish Grill. Everything presented was extremely fresh and of very high quality. At first the prices looked a little steep, but when tasting the product - it was backed with quality. The cook of all the fish was excellent. Service was absolutely spot on, with a few free nibbles to try brought over by the waiting staff. The place is very clean and modern, however slightly dimly lit. (Personally I'd prefer it a touch brighter but it sets a nice, chilled atmosphere). Overall the food was great - my only quibble would be, on both meals, there wasn't enough chips. We both thought they could've been a little more generous with the chips - taking into account the price of the food. Other than that. A solid 10/10. Will revisit.

Fish tacos- not great at all. Smoothed in mayonnaise and some sparingly placed salad with fish gousons. Not particularly tasty and the fish was bland.

Excellent food, yeah a little more expensive but don’t let that deter you, it’s worth every penny

Absolutely ticks the boxes for great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere, really not bad prices for seafood and finally a really great location. Worth travelling for a lovely meal with loved ones.

Went there last night for a family night out. Very expensive for what you get. Plus we were charged for chips that should have come with the meal. I had Sriracha Halibut. No chips turned up and when we asked they gave us a portion. Checking the bill later we had been chared for them. Also the fish was overcooked and the batter burned. Wont be going back

Fantastic Food , Fresh Cooked well and well presented, great service to. Lovely starters and great choice of main course, be warned though the Main Courses are Huge , Delicious but HUGE ! 👍🏻 Definitely going to return , so many Delicious items to try.

If you like seafood... this is fantastic. We had fish and chips and 'surf and turf'.. delicious. Except for the music, which was good but a tiny bit too loud, everything here is to enjoy

Amazing food been many times with my girlfriend been raving about this restaurant to my parents for years! Finally got round to taking them, food was amazing as usual but the experience was spoiled for them but the extremely loud music which we asked to be turned down THREE TIMES! Each time turning it back up 30secs later! In a restaurant we should be able to hold a conversation without shouting (in my humble opinion) as a result they won't be eating here again, real same for a first time visit.

Lots of choice for seafood lovers and a meat option for those that aren't. Food was tasty and fresh. Our party of 6 all had a good selection of different dishes. All rated high. Some dishes are a bit heavy on the garlic but didn't for us, spoil the experience. Service was quick & professional and the ambiance in the restaurant was nice & chilled. It is a bit pricey but is ideal for that special occasion. Would definitely return.

I ordered the haddock from the fryer with a portion of chips. The fish was lovely but the batter tasted burnt like it had been fried in old oil. I received 6 chips of very poor quality. The manager was less than friendly when we challenged the bill. We had placed our order prior to arriving but when we got there they had a new menu with very raised prices. Can't recommend this place unfortunately.

Fantastic food, great service, loving the music! I had crab on toast and Diablo mussels - OMG!! Hubby had prawn cocktail and roast halibut. Couldn’t fault it.

You get what you pay for. Not the cheapest meal out but it is very good

Absolutely delightful in every aspect; fantastic service, delicious food, and imaginative décor that beautifully mixes the contemporary and traditional. Definitely cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. If you enjoy seafood, you are definitely missing something special if you don't make a visit.

Often you read the hype, only to find that the place in question didn’t quite meet your expectations. I couldn’t get passed what I’d read, so had to try it and absolutely loved the restaurant. Fine dining without the faff, every dish a triumph, service and atmosphere to match. Smoked haddock scotch egg and house fish stew in my case, the latter being accompanied by a generous amount of garlic bread for dipping, feel the comfort. Crab crumpets in Denise’s case, and sea bass, the former we’ve tried to replicate at home with limited success. I was hoping for something special to celebrate 24 years of marriage, it doesn’t get anymore special than here.

The food and service was fantastic. It was all decked out for Christmas and the atmosphere was lovely. Staff were great, there when you needed them. Would recommend.

Absolutely delicious! Very expensive but the food is 100% worth it. When they say giant prawns they really mean gigantic prawns the size of your hands! Service was great, food was amazing, the restaurant was very clean and tidy, the toilets were ok too (door with a lock, plenty of toilet roll, clean and tidy). We will 100% be going there again. Only feedback I have is to have some kind of online booking system as you can only book by calling and they're not open every day.

I visited the Humber Fish Co on a very busy Friday evening. We hadn't booked, but the staff were able to find us a table. I had the smoked haddock scotch egg to start. The fish was cooked to perfection and the egg was runny, beautiful! Fish and chips for my main, it was supposed to be haddock, but I'm sure they were serving fillets of whale! Again, cooked to perfection, tasted amazing and all the sides and garnishes were lovely. My colleague had the Monkfish and as expected, perfect! If you enjoy seafood, do not miss this gem of a restaurant.

The ambiance of the Humber fish co was wonderful especially the seating area outside (at the back), also provided you with blankets and outdoor heating which was helpful when with a little one. Indoor was equally as nice. Service: Although, service time took longer than we anticipated and another table who came after us order was taken before ours. Servers tried their best to get to us in a busy evening. Servers: extremely hard working especially when busy and very attentive to our needs. Food taste and quality; Excellent! Ordered seafood Diablo would recommend it with the garlic bread. Fish stew (assorted seafood option) big portion, nevertheless it wash tasty but could have been less. Half lobster was delicious as well not overcook. If I came again I would attend the early afternoon opening hour to avoid the busy rush of the evening. When coming with kids (depending on age) bring some snacks as wait times can vary depending on dish ordered. Overall, family and I would definitely come back. Thank you as well for catering to my child allergies and having a gluten free option on the menu.

Been here a few times before and always had a great experience, however not so good this time around. We waited about 45 mins until our food order was taken, it was fairly busy but not full. The squid starter was solid rubber and my oysters had been cracked and I bite straight into a piece of shell, the main was good. The staff was nice and pleasant but for me this all boiled down to the manager, he looked stressed and for me manged the place terribly. When I told him about the oysters he offered to take them of the bill but he just didn't want to be there and couldn't wait to get away. Every time he interacted with us he just seemed awkward and erratic. He was probably just having a bad day, lots of people had complained and 3 tables walked out but for me he just seemed disorganized and out of his depth. It's still a lovely place to eat I just wanted to add some hopefully constructive criticism so it can be worked on.

The general consensus is that the best place for fish and chips on the Yorkshire coast is whitby. The best place to go being the Magpie... well I disagree on two counts. Firstly Mr Chips is so much better than the Magpie. Secondly neither can hold a candle to Humber Fish Co I Hull. Absolutely superb. Service is second to none the food is even better. You just have to go. If you love fish you'll love this. Five star plus.

Myself and my husband tried this for our 11th wedding anniversary. Service was amazing, all staff were fully aware on what was on offer and how it was prepared. We had starters and mains. Absolutely 5 out of 5 for quality and quantity. Will go back

We stopped over after a visit to The Deep, and were really impressed. Tasty mains, an expansive cocktail menu, and something for the kids as well. Everyone went away happy.

First time trying the restaurant. Not disappointed, friendly staff and excellent service throughout. The food was amazing especially the fish diablo. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back soon.

Haven't been out for 18 months,would always choose Humber Fish . Was not disappointed it was as good as ever ,changed our table to sit outside in the sun it was like being on holiday the food the service all excellent many thanks Humber Fish can't wait to come back again.

Food was below average and service was ok. Reasonable prices, but food quality not as expected. When we told staff about the food quality, no action was taken, we just had to get on with it.

Delicious food and generous portions. It is quite expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. There's a wide choice of food, and all the dishes I've tried have been delicious.

What can I say.... Absolutely fantastic one of the best fish restaurants I've been to in a long time. If you only have a quick stay in Hull then this is the only restaurant you should go to. Well priced for food and drinks. Service was excellent as was the 1920's prohibition music.

Amazing service, Covid cleaning between tables best I’ve seen anywhere. Usual top quality fresh seafood, generous portions, well cooked, very attentive table service. The best seafood restaurant I’ve ever been to in the U.K. Every time we’ve been it’s first class if you like seafood Humber Fish Company is the place to eat.

Dined here Friday night with a group of colleagues. We have been looking forward to a good meal and we were not disappointed. The staff were really attentive and were following COVID guidelines and everything was fully sanitised. The atmosphere was great and service was impeccable. The food was sublime - some of the best we have had. What a gem of a restaurant-we will definitely be back!!!

Always a memorable experience eating here. Last visit we both had the seafood platter which was well presented and delicious. We shared a cheeky white rioja and finished with a raspberry dessert. Staff were polite and helpful and all covid regulations adhered to. Great restaurant and Hull lucky to have it!

Another fantastic meal at Humber Fish. Oysters to start with followed By Crab Crumpet Rarebits and then the Skippers Haul and The Diablo. Leah and the team gave the usual impeccable service. Thanks once again. Will be back soon

Having recently visited Humber Fish Co after the lifting of the COVID restrictions myself & my wife can honestly say how we looked very much forward to our first meal in a long while here. Everything was in perfect order regarding COVID restrictions. Everyone was socially distanced, & everything sanitized when customers left. Our meal was absolutely beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Staff were attentive & made us both feel welcome. Can’t wait to go back soon. Would highly recommend anyone that love fish to try here, you will not be disappointed. 👌👌👍

If you love Seafood you will love this place!!!!!!!! You could be mistaken to think you are in a very high class London Restaurant when you eat here, the service is always amazing and the food cannot be beaten by anything else locally. If you haven’t been you are really missing out.

no signs of any sort of covid restrictions the table opposite went and two minutes later someone else was in it it was not even wiped down !!! short staffed took ages to get our food and for drinks to arrive when the food came one order was wrong the food was only of an average chip shop very disappointing the woman who was walking around seemed to think she was the queen you would have been better off instructing your staff on safety and getting orders correct !!!

Choice of seafood and fish is fantastic. Enjoyed every minute of meal.
