Very busy bank holiday Sunday special occasion wedding anniversary. Staff friendly and welcoming food was excellent had starters crab on toast . Then mains wife had Portuguese stew and I had Thai halibut food was brilliant with a bottle of wine and desserts would highly recommend

Would be nice if you could let the public know your restaurant is closed for staff holiday until the 16th Jan 2025, either on here or on your website or preferably both. *Edit* My mistake, the website does say the restaurant is temporarily closed. Apologies.

I would love to put a bad review, purely to see the reply but Honestly could not fault anything! The staff are lovely, welcoming and attentive. They were up for a bit of friendly banter which always brightens up the mood! The food is amazing!! We ordered a sharing platter and it certainly did not disappoint! Looked and tasted gorgeous! The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed and we enjoyed the little quirks in the restaurant. Will definitely return!

The food was okay, but we were a bit early to get any of the atmosphere as we were the only ones in. Had a prawn cocktail was nice. However, cocktail sauce was a bit watery, fish cakes were very nice, mains real monkfish scampi delicious, fish and chips nice chips were a bit to large. Overall, it was very good for a first visit.

Fabulous fish restaurant. Especially recommend the seafood diablo. Staff were attentive and polite and the setting is nice. Definitely will return next time in Hull.

Myself and my partner went to this lovely fish restaurant on Saturday night. We tend to come here when we have a special occasion or treat ourselves to something a bit more luxurious. I did come on here to say how good the food was, the quality of the fish was excellent. I did not want to particularly enter into what was going on at one of the other tables, the one opposite the kitchen actually, but having read the last review which appears as quite reasonable, but it is not entirely correct, I do feel compelled to say something. Whilst we were eating there was a very noisy table and the other diners did comment that there was some shrieking and shouting which was interfering with the enjoyment of their meal.I know that people want to enjoy themselves and have a few drinks but it was too much; A member of staff did go over to the table to ask them to calm things a little, but the person who went over to them was not rude, nor did she shout. In the end the people were asked to leave, but not until they made it clear that they would not pay for any of their food, which they had thoroughly finished. Obviously it is Christmas and the people wanted to enjoy a drink, however I feel the restaurant has been unfairly judged and saw no rudeness on their part, this party were given every chance to calm down a little and the restaurant did not ask them to leave until they made it quite clear they would not pay. Just wanted wanted to say what I saw as I was sitting at a table whilst this was happening, shame really as its a lovely restaurant with great staff and great food, I suppose people see things differently and it is that time of year! But this is a nice restaurant and we have always enjoyed being there.

Another fabulous meal with friends at this great restaurant. Great service and fantastic staff. Food absolutely first class, not one complaint from myself or my 5 friends. 10 out of 10 every time

The food was simply excellent, fantastic quality and very fresh. Very friendly and professional staff and shall definitely return again.

Fresh seafood done pretty well. Have been twice - ordered from the main menu the first time and pleasantly surprised by depth of flavour and portion sizes of dishes. Second visit was abit lacklustre as we went for the lunch set menu at £22 and it was ok, portion sizes notably smaller (2 new potatoes to go with your fish!). Prices are surprisingly similar to the South i.e. around £26 to £28 per main meal ordering off the main menu. I suppose you're paying premium for fresh seafood and "trendy" location.

Drove over from Sheffield for a small birthday meal. Food was great, service was good. Cannot fault the place to be fair. Shook hands with the owner upon leaving and complimented them on what a great little restaurant they are running. Will be back in the near future. Thanks, Chris

First time visiting this restaurant and from stepping inside we felt welcomed and appreciated. The table was ready and waiting us and the restaurant staff all very polite, friendly, high customer focus. We were seated and the restaurant staff knew the dishes and menu and more than able to guild us around what was on the menu. We ordered WOW the high standard and presentation and so so tasty food that came amazing job chef - the pictures don’t lie We can’t fault this restaurant and will B going back

Visited today for the first time for my birthday. A lovely warm and friendly welcome. The restaurant is immaculately clean and very well presented. I enjoyed watching the fish in the tank. The food was outstanding- the biggest prawns I’ve ever seen and so tasty. Everything was perfectly cooked, excellent flavours and lovely presentation. The servers were very friendly and attentive and helped with questions when I was unsure how to open the lobster claw. Thank you for an excellent birthday lunch. I will definitely come again 🙂

Had a superb meal last night, the staff were very attentive and the service was excellent. We had a lobster and prawn cocktail starter, Fish cakes (2 big cakes in a wonderful sauce) and Monkfish with a Sriracha sauce. The food was perfect and great portions. Just wish I could remember what the sauce was with the fish cakes as I’d love to give it a try at home 🙏

We went for lunch today and it was 1st class. From the waitress to the chefs preparing our food. It never disappoints, we went with friends a month ago for dinner and they were blown away. The portion sizes , the freshness there is no place like it in and around of Hull for fish lovers! X

Everyone is raving about this place ...why I adore seafood and eating at fantastic restaurants, but I won't go here again. The prices are more than what Scott's in Mayfair charge it's ludicrous. And there's no ambiance or class to the place.

We arrived at quarter to 8 and was rushed to order as the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes even though they were open until 10 that day (this would have been fine if they had just told us before when we made the booking instead of rushing us as soon as we got there). The food seemed hit and miss, the monk fish wasn't cooked well at all, but fish stew was pretty good. Not really the quality I expected for the price though.

Visited to celebrate our anniversary Ordered drinks and food at about 8pm Closer to 9pm, we asked about our orders and were told that they would arrive shortly. Half an hour later, there was still no sign off food and we asked again. The wait staff Caroline told us that we only ordered an hour back and had to wait as there were many orders. She seemed to imply by her tone that we were impatient and trying to cut the queue which we weren’t. Perhaps the staff were overwhelmed. I asked if there was any table bread as we were very hungry. She realized that this was forgotten and brought us some. The food was good but the experience not quite.

If you like seafood this the plaice, (get it). Experienced food envy whilst looking at other diner's choices.

Further to the response, I would like to clarify that we did ask for a table to be added before the food arrived and it WAS refused. This was only pulled over once the waitresses realised it was impossible to fit the food on!! Who wants their drinks and sides on another table! If our request had been actioned at the time this wouldn't have been an issue. This is not a scathing review. It's an honest review and I'm even more disappointed that you would respond to honest feedback in this way. This was a special treat for us and we are entitled to our opinion. I'm not a keyboard warrior by any means, just honest. We were all disappointed in the food as we had high expectations which were not met. Long awaited visit to Humber Fish last night for my birthday and my daughters. What a disappointment. Overpriced and over-hyped in our opinion. Sat 4 people at a tiny table that only had room for drinks and a plate each. When asked if they would pull up another table, they refused (even though there were empty tables around us and it was the last sitting, 8pm, so no one else was coming in). Then when they started bringing the mains out and couldn't fit it on, just pulled up a table nearer and put the 'sides' on there. The food was average at best and rushed. Such a shame as I've been wanting to go since it opened. We spent £300 for starters, mains and 2 bottles of wine. For that money I expected to be wowed by the food and service but unfortunately it wasn't the case. Maybe it was an off night as others seemed to be wowed, which is why we went.

We ordered 2 platers and from what we had eaten the food was good and seafood fresh At 9.45pm I was peeling the King Prawns and the flesh was totally mushy - as seen in photo and it tasted sour. I informed a male wait staff who apologized and said he would check up on this. Caroline returned to our table and asked us what the matter was. After I explained she told us “Well all our seafood is fresh catch from the day. When I check with you just now, you said it was all alright.” I re-eiterated that the prawn was rotten and gone bad. Caroline said that she could see what I meant but again said that I had told her that the food was alright when she checked earlier in the evening. As a feedback to Humber and Co This response from Caroline is unacceptable and seemed to implicate us in our concern over the food we ordered. 1. I am not responsible to ‘check all the food’ in the 10 minutes it appears on my table. Less so when I order 2 platters. 2. In any fresh catch there are always seafood that are dead and start to rot almost immediately. Just because your seafood is caught in the day, does not mean that it is all fresh. My review is tainted because of Caroline. My experience with all the others were pleasant and had it not been for these interactions, I would have placed 5 stars.

First time dining at Humber Fish Co and it totally matched our high expectations. The food was excellent and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We really couldn’t fault anything other then the inability to tip when paying by card. The Seafood Diablo was so tasty I took the remaining sauce home with me. We will definitely return.

Very well presented and very tasty food. (Recommend the 'Traditional Fish Stew') Aspiring upmarket decor diminished by noisy, 'work-a-day' ambience dominated by unnecessarily thumping disco beat music. Efficient but somewhat 'distant' service whose attention it was hard to attract. Also, check your bill to make sure you are being asked to pay for what you actually ordered, ate, drank. Would I patronise again ? .. 'No' (sadly) after discovering we were overcharged by £15 for drinks we did not order / have.

Smashing seafood. We had the very large but delicious Skippers Haul (£140) A very interesting seafood platter with a lobster, dressed crab, oysters, prawns of various type and size as well as lots 9f other goodies. Amazing dish for a special celebration but lots of other much cheaper dishes available.

Fantastic meal at humber fish, great service. Beautiful thai flavours on some of the dishes. Please remember cash for tips as the staff definitely go over and above for you.

Food was disgusting. Tasted like it had been stored for a few weeks in my grandmas knicker draw. A tin of asda smart price sardines taste better then anything from here. Staff were disinterested in actually giving customer service. And half of them looked like they were fresh from chernobyl. Won't be eating here again, next time I'll go catch my own tea from the drain near my house (it'll taste better).

Popped in on the off chance luckily we were able to get a table. Had a lovely lunch food delicious and service very good too .

Just returned home after a delicious lunch, our first time here having been recommended by a Nieghbour, it most certainly won’t be our last. Great menu, superb service, immaculate facilities, the only criticism is the table size was a little small for 4 people. Thankyou, See you very soon.

I’ll never go there again. I booked several days in advance, it was our anniversary, we specifically asked for a window seat. We didn’t get one! We were fobbed with a mid restaurant table. We should have left there and then. But we didn’t. We sat down and had a lovely lunch. But I’ll not book there again, the window tables were taken by walk-ins. They hadn’t booked so there was no need for the window tables to be occupied. So, in short: great food, very overpriced and badly managed by ‘front of house’.

First visit here & mussels were overcooked as was the squid. Anywhere else we've had moules mariniere you are provided with sufficient bread to mop up the sauce, or offered more if required. Disappointingly a very small portion of bread was supplied & if more required then cough up & pay. My wife had a Pimms that didn't particularly have a strong Pimms flavour. The atmosphere was spoilt by music playing too loudly so everyone in the small restaurant is shouting to be heard. Staff were helpful.

The food here is simply out of this world it’s hard to put into words the quality you will get here everything is cooked to perfection. As a seafood lover this is my go to restaurant! If you haven’t been and you love seafood all I will say is wow…

My partner treated me to lunch, we’ve been meaning to pop here for a while as we both love seafood. Service was good, the restaurant was busy so we did have to wait a while to get more drinks and the bill at the end as the two ladies where busy either on the phone taking bookings ( I think ) or serving customers. Food was quite good. Will try again and pick alternative things to what we picked this time. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and I love the decor, fun but not tacky. Great location too 😊

Very good food and pleasantly surprised

First visit here but will not be our last. So very nice to see somewhere like this doing so well. The food we had last night was as good as anything I’ve ever eaten. Certainly the best seafood I’ve had and in our own city. It’s a great menu and they also had a really nice specials menu. Generous portions, beautifully cooked and served be lovely staff who were attentive and helpful. Really highly recommended if you like seafood.

Probably one of the best restaurants in Hull

Came here for my birthday. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and we had the best table next to the fish tank. Really exceeded our expectations, thank you we’ll be coming back.

Amazing food and a brilliant atmosphere.

This restaurant is such a gem. The ambience of the place is very special and a warm welcome greets you as soon as you step through the door. It is very difficult to choose from the extensive menu and daily specials. We have dined in the attractively themed restaurant a number of times and always come away very happy. Our visit yesterday was amazing, The Fish Grill was totally delicious and great value for money. The Thai Spiced Halibut is to die for, look forward to returning to have this dish again next time. All in all another fabulous experience.at Humber Fish!

Food we had was very good, sadly though, so many of the dishes we wanted were unavailable so had to settle for second or third choice on nearly every dish .

We tried the lunch time deal which is £20 for two courses. My starter was a prawn and crab cocktail, this dish was mainly salad with very little prawns and crab. Plus the prawns tasted like cooked from frozen not fresh. For the main course I had fish and chips. I was expecting a full fish but unfortunately it was a very small slice of fish and small portion of chips. Unfortunately after eating my lunch I was still hungry and ended up paying for some more food elsewhere It was a £20 snack

Good food but as soon as our dish came, there was hair in it and as we pointed it out to the waitress, she took the hair out and expected us to keep eating. They later said they wouldn’t replace our meal and when the bill arrived, they charged us for all the dishes including the one with hair in it which we didn’t eat. I asked the waitress why we are being charged with this and she took the bill to the manager to change it. The manager came back without any changes to the bill thinking we wouldn’t notice and when I asked why, they stated that it happened because it was a “windy day” and it wasn’t the chef as he is bald. We are very disappointed with the service as we come here often.

Hard to beat first class food and service. Not vastly expensive either. Perfect friendly lunchtime. Thank you.

The sea bass was excellent! Crowded and crowded!

Having been to some of the best seafood restaurants in the UK, I know good food and this is definitely not it. FYI when someone orders a medium/ well done steak, the centre should not be raw. Offering to recook a half eaten steak is beyond amateurish. I think you’ll find that we ate half our poorly cooked food. Prawns overly salted and cooked so long they had the texture of rubber. Butter served so cold that it resembled cheese. We didn’t even attempt to spread it on the stale bread served with the starters. I’m thankful that I didn’t order the lobster given the shocking scallop dish you served. The lack of finesse in your cooking is astounding given the reviews. Scallops cooked in a mustard leek sludge? If you think that makes me a keyboard warrior then you clearly are as limited in your views as your chef is in their abilities. BTW charging £3 for a garlic butter given our £150 bill for lunch is pathetic!

Best fish restaurant in Hull. Love this place.

Walked in and told the waitress we had a table booked, as I was awaiting to be sat a waiter literally walked in-between me and my partner, why couldn't he just wait rather than walking between us? The starter was really nice, it was a spring roll, the main wasn't that nice, just tasted of tomato rather than any fish taste. Really over priced, which I full expected but definitely above it's station. Atmosphere was strange, a really nice chilled place with nice deco with dance music blasting out. EDIT FOR RESPONSE: The waiter didn't realise, but that's where staff training comes in, simply wait until your customers are seated, then carry on with your job.

I was a bit wary after seeing the owner's robust responses to the odd negative review. I shouldn't have worried. The food was superb, also reasonably priced. Service very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had a fantastic lunch here today and I would recommend it to anyone! It was our first time and it most definitely won't be our last. We both had the seafood diablo and it was amazing,a generous portion and seafood cooked to perfection. The staff couldn't of been nicer and more welcoming. We look forward to next time!

The best fish and chips in town

A trip to the city with six other friends required us to find somewhere for the evening meal and we took a chance on here. We landed on our feet completely. We were surprised that we had been asked for what we wanted to order at the time of booking however we all felt that worked brilliantly once in the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their starter and main, portions were probably larger than they needed to be but better that than feeling they were too small. Only one of us could manage a dessert! I had the pepper squid to start which was beautifully cooked, wonderful texture and flavour and for main I had the seafood diablo, it had a nice kick however each piece of seafood was cooked well. We all left very happy and would not hesitate to return or recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We visit each year for a birthday meal. The menu is great (fish focused, obviously) and we like the atmosphere. There are cheaper places to eat in the city, but none better.

Wow, incredible. I was a bit apprehensive as I am not a massive seafood eater but it was worth the risk. It was amazing. Some small canapés on arrival were very nice. I had the surf and turf spring roll to start and my partner had the squid. Spring was spot on. I had the sriracha monkfish main and they had the scallop thermidor, both spot on. We also tried the oysters, I've never had before, not sure they are for me but my partner liked them and they came with a nice selection of toppings. Cocktail was good as well. Will definitely be coming back

Humber Fish is a refined restaurant that serves locally sourced fish excellently. The service and atmosphere are top notch and everything down to the bread baskets has that extra bit of flavour you don’t always get elsewhere. I highly recommend the seafood diablo for spice lovers and you definitely won’t leave hungry!

Was in for a meal on New years eve. Was great. Slightly oddly I don't eat any seafood but they do an excellent steak so I was very happy.

Had been looking forward to this due to seemingly a lot of good reviews but definitely let down, whilst the food was nice it was not much more than that. The Diablo was not spicy at all and was essentially just a tomato sauce. The sriracha monkfish described as a “spiced batter” was just posh fish and chips? Without the sriracha Mayo there would have been no flavour at all. One of the waitresses was lovely and the other lacked customer service completely. Nice to experience but probably wouldn’t return!

Took our daughter for her Birthday- she was so excited to try lobster - whole lobster cost us £90 but came without claws - which was very odd ??? Felt a little cheated to be honest - £200 bill - so not cheap - but nice food otherwise

Me and my partner were seated promptly at our table by a lovely staff member, all was well until one male waiter presented our menus and took our drink orders. For context I was very obviously on a date with my partner and so was wearing a nice dress which happened to show some of my chest. Both me and my partner noticed all throughout the night this one particular waiter unashamedly stare at my chest, making me very uncomfortable and dampening the mood of what was supposed to be a lovely evening. As we were leaving he leaned too close for comfort as he said goodbye just to top it off. In regards to food, it was generally okay but I don’t believe the seafood diablo was at all value for money as the sauce seems to entirely rely on its spiciness for its flavour. My partner described his sriracha monkfish as “watery” and “relying on the sauce for flavour”. Also, “chips were good”. The service from everyone except the aforementioned waiter was great and we hold nothing against them. Edit to respond to owners comment: Yes, it is my own opinion about the seafood diablo because, shocker, this is a personal review. If I appeared abrupt to the waiter in question it might have been because him repeatedly and blatantly staring at my chest made me uncomfortable. Someone else in the same scenario could have been far more outspoken about it in person. My boyfriend emailed you yesterday to ask if anything has been done in regards to warning the waiter about making someone uncomfortable but by the looks of your review responses I can believe that no action will be taken. It seems you would prefer to accuse me of being abrupt instead of considering the possibility your waiter may have been a creep. Final point, just because a review is negative does not mean it is unfair. Take the criticism on the chin and do better in the future.

Visited here on recommendation and after reading some great reviews. The meals purchased on this visit was The East Coast Fish and Chips and The Fish Grill. Everything presented was extremely fresh and of very high quality. At first the prices looked a little steep, but when tasting the product - it was backed with quality. The cook of all the fish was excellent. Service was absolutely spot on, with a few free nibbles to try brought over by the waiting staff. The place is very clean and modern, however slightly dimly lit. (Personally I'd prefer it a touch brighter but it sets a nice, chilled atmosphere). Overall the food was great - my only quibble would be, on both meals, there wasn't enough chips. We both thought they could've been a little more generous with the chips - taking into account the price of the food. Other than that. A solid 10/10. Will revisit.

Fish tacos- not great at all. Smoothed in mayonnaise and some sparingly placed salad with fish gousons. Not particularly tasty and the fish was bland.

Absolutely ticks the boxes for great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere, really not bad prices for seafood and finally a really great location. Worth travelling for a lovely meal with loved ones.

Went there last night for a family night out. Very expensive for what you get. Plus we were charged for chips that should have come with the meal. I had Sriracha Halibut. No chips turned up and when we asked they gave us a portion. Checking the bill later we had been chared for them. Also the fish was overcooked and the batter burned. Wont be going back
