Well just been served by Kim.on speed, Beth on the other hand is lovely and professional, Heather B was in there taking notes, that girl needs a life, Tony, the lovely Tony what an I say, food was alright.

I have being coming here for several years, and have enjoyed lovely food and had fabulous services. I noticed there has been some staff changes and not for the better. A new team member has joined and she is an absolute disgrace, she is so rude, foul mouthed, no people skills at all, lazy and slow, smokes and smells of weed, argues with the customers when she makes a mistake and storms off. The shop has gone hill so fast, I am sure she is called Beth. Kim on the other hand is so nice and polite, has the time of day for the customers and is always jolly amd happy. Beth has put me right off the shop and will now be going else where for my food. She has no shame in anything she says or does. She certainly doesn't do your business any favours, you will be lucky if you have a business to run in 18 month with her working there

Great to find a chippy, and for it to serve great food, and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

This is the best fish and chip shop in hill we travel from coniston at least weekly to enjoy our fish and chips. The patties are really nice. We always have large cod and I have 3 fish bits which are amazing. If you haven’t been your really missing out. Staff friendly lovely and clean. The best in hull

We use this place all the time now as lovely friendly staff ,we haven't got a huge appitite and the lovely lady always splits fish,chips and gravy between 2 trays... must be one of the best chip shops in Hull

Had been to visit the Fishing Heritage centre and the staff were having fish and chips for their dinner so I asked where they’d been, Challis was the answer and no wonder, lovely fish and chips,not greasy, big fish even though it was their medium and reasonably priced. I would definitely go there again when in the area

we go to challis 2 maybe 3 times a week i have never been disappointed yet, batter is always crispy fish is white best patties ever and fish fritters are amazing also fish bite specials are top notch.great prce too. i do not live local but its always worth the drive down there staff are also lovely and freindly..see for yourself..

Just had Challis's for the first time and it did not dissapoint. Husband brought me back a chippy dinner and even though it was only Pattie , Chips and Gravy it was so tasty. Pattie was perfect and the chips were covered in the right amount of Gravy. Really good value and it was still piping hot by the time he'd brought it back to East Hull. Whenever we're up Hessle Rd again I'll be using you again for sure.

Had the usual , Pattie special with curry sauce and a bread cake , great value great taste always look forward to wolfing it down

Just had the worst chip shot meal I can remember. The chips were mushy and covered in oil. The fish was similar. I am only left with the taste of grease in my mouth. I would take it back but for the 40 minute turnaround.

Went in just for chips,not the best wasn't even luke warm tasted awful,put them straight in the bin

We studied TripAdvisor closely and chose Challis on Hessle Road. Fish bites, fish patties and chips. Fish dishes were excellent and the chips were to die for. All in all a very moreish experience indeed.

Not a bad chip shop. I used to have my regular but they've gotten worse so tried Challis. The staff are always friendly and it's a really nice atmosphere, albeit briefly popping in every so often for a chip butty. Downside is their chips do feel soggy but still tasty. Definitely a good alternative to my regular.

Brilliant service and good quality food

The food is very reasonably priced. Chips are cooked perfectly - there is nothing I would change about them. Battered sausages are excellent and my husband enjoyed his fish too. They are our go-to fish and chip shop.

Challis is I very nice fish and chip shop hessle road the food is lovely and the staff are very welcoming its just recently every time I want food from here the have turned the gas machines off every time I ring at 18.25pm and the close at 19.00pm Monday to Wednesday so I can't get any food it's disappointing really

GET SOME PINAPPLE RINGS IN.... Ha Ha Ha .. 3 chippys on Hessle RD. Tryed um all but still keep going back here, Quality is just right. At least they put fish in there Fish Fritters not like my other REVIEW.. Server can be a bit cheeky (I like the banter) Friar at the other chippy as an ATTITUDE.. That's All Folks 👍

Been back several times now. The shop is clean and the staff are always up for a bit of banter. The food is fresh and of a high quality. I my opinion the specials are extremely good value for money,you get a reasonable size portion from £1.80 Which by anyone's standards is great value. The medium fish special is the size of any regular size fish and easily overhangs your plate. It may not be to all people's taste or quality, but it has to be up there with some of the beast fish and chips in Hull.

By far the best. Fresh food and very clean. Staff are so helpful and polite. Always the best food and the best service.

Best fish and chip shop I've visited in the area fish is superb.

Thought we'd try this as a change from our usual chippie as the reviews were good. Suffice to say we'll be back to our usual next week.

I use this fish and chip shop quite a lot and always find the food excellent and tasty and the staff are amazing and friendly the always say hi to me and ask how I am and when i ring the know who I am and ask what I want and when I take my dog sometimes the man always gives something to her and aman she is really kind polite and a very nice lady Donna and Kim are amazing too I would recommend everyone go to Challis fish and chip shop cos you worn be disappointed at all great food great staff the should win awards

Ordered chips with curry sauce, asked for curry sauce seperate because I'm not an animal who likes soggy chips, or to peel paper off of curry. I want what I pay for and that is not in any way soggy chips. Staff member with short red hair and glasses is very rude and speaks to you in a tone. Will not be visiting again.

Easily one of the best chippys in Hull, we get 3 large fish,chips and peas for just over 5 quid each, absolutely delicious and fish is massive.

I travel some distance to Challis's for the best and freshest fish in the surrounding area The staff are always friendly and helpful even when very very busy as they are most days There is great parking facilities outside and a short walk away at the a Boulevard/Barclays corner are the fishing heritage benches where you could sit and eat as you watch the world go by there are also waste bins there after you finish CHALLIS's Fish and Chip shop changed hands many many years ago and the current owner worked alongside the old experienced frier to shadow and hone the traditional skills and experience they had learned over many years of quality cooking So the product is as good today as it was years ago!!! Thats a refreshing change!!! There are also specials available every day along with a large varied menu The Fish is cooked to order and served very quickly therefore piping hot there is an extra large fish (not on the menu) if you fancy a really big fish CHALLIS'S is a Top quality Traditional Fish Shop providing cooked food to perfection and the portions are large but the prices are relatively small so fantastic value I try to eat there every week as part of my balanced diet and have done for over ten years now, it is always a great treat to look forward to Do yourself a favour and try this Top Quality very reasonable Fish Shop you will be pleased you did ***** ***** *****

Use this fish shop regularly and always find it good value, the food is good mid range fish shop but not the extortionate prices of some other fish shops , I would recommend for an easy tea with usual range of choice,easy go access and park and some good specials including fish

Used to be one of the best chip shops around; but just got a chip butty and couldn't eat the chips; they were over cooked too greasy and not one chip had been properly peeled (not a major problem but still)! Gone from the best chip shop around to the worst in a matter of months.
