Newton's Traditional Fish & Chip's in Kingston upon Hull, City of

A friend and I were working locally and had arrived in Patrington after a long drive. We were warmly welcomed into the shop and as we didn't have anywhere to go ate our fish and chips in the shop. They were SUPERB! Freshly cooked, tasty, great portion size alongside welcoming service.

Wow the fish and chips were amazing. The staff were lovely. The fish was huge and loads of chips. Would defo go again

We went for cod and chips only to be told they don’t serve cod…just Haddock… The fish was skin on, the very small portion of chips were underdone and, all in all, a mediocre supper best forgotten…

I asked for a lightly battered fish, which was duly provided. The fish was very fresh if a little 'wet.' The chips were superb. All in all, very nice!

I am staying in Patrington 1 night for work and tried my best to walk past as I am on a diet, I am glad I didn't. I have just had the best fish and chips I have had in years! The place was spotless too with excellent Covid measures in place. If I ever have to come back I will definitely go again.

Still open in these strange times and just as good as ever! Covid safe with telephone or walk up orders (we use telephone to order a collection slot time)....food as good as ever, cooked to perfection and totally fresh. Best in the area by a country mile!

Pristine premesis and follows all covid rules. the fish is always very fresh with a range of sizes and they serve great scampi. nothing is greasy. staff are very friendly and welcoming

Just had a tasty chippy tea from here. I had Haddock, chips and curry sauce, and the Hubble had fish cake, chips and curry sauce. Really enjoyed it. Will definitely call again when in the area.

The queuing here is a bit chaotic with locals being served before "tourists" but nonetheless the freshest fish you could possibly have. But share the chips they are enormous!

Have heard many good reports about this place and decided to forgo our usual chip shop to try this out. I'm so glad we did. Good portions and beautiful fish means we now have a new favourite chip shop to go to whenever the fancy takes us.

I am currently staying at Patrington Haven Leisure Park and this fish shop was recommended to us. We went at Dinner time today and I've had to come on and write a review. Wow delicious I can even go as far as to say these are the best fish and chips I have ever had :) we all really enjoyed them. I even ordered a cornbeef pattie- never tried one before very tasty! Wonderful service too. The only negative is that I found this little gem the day before we go home as I would have defiantly have visited again ☹

Always have a lovely skinless fish. Even have fish fritter ( a cake if your from West Yorkshire ). Always warm and friendly staff.

Small and traditional chip shop. Great menu, service is friendly and helpful. They had some items I've never tried before such as a Corned beef pattie. Also something I've rarely seen, 'scraps'. (aka crispy bits!). PS. Chips are delicious!

Really friendly service. Spotlessly clean. Best chips I’ve ever had and so much choice! The sage fritter & gravy is a must. Hubby had corned beef fritter. Also tried the spam fritter. All very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

My first visit here : better as far as I can judge than any of Withernsea's six fish-&-chippies. As of mid 2018. Absolutely excellent - whether one thinks of surroundings, staff, service, quality of fish, frying of the chips, solicitude... On every count, it would be almost impossible to better Newton's. Their formula seems to be : Open for mainly Lunch & Teatime/Early Dinner-time.. & don't cut any corners. I could recommend this Establishment to anybody - and will.

Lovely fresh fish with great staff. It is a little more expensive than the chip shops that offer the meal deals but it’s worth it!

This is my 3rd visit to Newtons and I have never being disappointed. The service is quick and the staff always pleasant. The fish and chips are very nice with a good sized helping. I would recommend this chippy!

We go here all the time from hornsea as i our opinion it's by far the best chip shop around the fish is fried to order so is always fresh and chips are lovely have a taste of their own staff are always friendly and happy to help it's also good value for money definitely recommend.

I went for the traditonal fish and chips, smothered in chip spice and vinegar. I can genuinely say I was not disappointed!! The fish was cooked to perfection, the batter was a fabulous blend and the chips were simply divine. Will 100% be returning and...

En Hull no es Patrington pero en el este de Yorkshire, que es el mejor pescado y patatas fritas en la zona. Yo siempre hay tiempo de mi visita a la zona en el momento de la tienda está abierta. Sobresaliente en sabor, calidad y limpieza.

We visited Newtons based in patrington last Friday, and can honestly say the food is impeccable! Freshly fried fish, tasty chips, with no grease what so ever with brilliant presentation. Service is friendly and amazing. Quality food at quality prices! Will definitely visit again! Xxxx

Top class Fish and Chips, after arriving back from holidays away, the first stop when off the plane and returning home is Newton's Fish and Chips in Patrington. The shop is ultra modern, super clean and all the staff very pleasant and efficient. There is a varied menu with plenty of choice for the family member not too keen on fish. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

Fabulous fish shop. I live in the village and have family members who come between 4 and 8 miles here, missing their own village fish shops. Definitely the best in our area.

We have had fish and chips from here many times over the past 20 or so years and what once was a good chippy has slowly gone downhill.The place itself now looks impressive and the staff are all good but the food is poor at best.The chips are bland, the "large" fish is a regular at other places and is vastly over priced.After trying these many times and having the same experiences of greasy food we will not be going back unless something drastically changes.Witnessed the owners unloading ASDA smart price flour for the batter mix, so not quite "quality".After eating, the paper or plate has a thick spreading of lard forming and my mouth feels like I have been eating a block of lard.Every time we have been here over the past 3 or 4 years we have both had diarrhoea from what we think is the grease / lard overload.Quality fish & chips? I think not. Quality prices for budget fish & chips.....

Located in the village of Patrington draw of this place has to be the quality and freshness of the food. Well worth a visit

I am sorry but what is the point of opening until 8pm when you switch off your fryers at 7.30pm me a meaning that you do not cook anything after 7.30pm? I arrived last night at 7.45pm and all they had left was a small portion of chips... they lost over a fivers worth of business! I was followed by an even more unhappy chappy who had wanted two fish suppers and had got nothing at all... so drove to withernsea! Food is good but they do need to consider business they are loosing by this business tactic and will they return??

But you certainly can moan about the price you end up paying... spam fritter costs £1.50 fish cake costs the same... may be that other chippies are better value... offering larger range of products for a better price.

The only chippy in Patrington - and the food is lovely... but make sure that you take a pocket full of change as portions are small (compared with other chippies in the area) and prices are high...

Lovely chippy tea... over a fiver for fish and chips is dear for the area and to be honest despite a lovely big fish the portion of chips was hardly enormous... in fact it was somewhat meagre :(

Not one for slating businesses on Trip Advisor so this should really be taken as constructive criticism as its our local chip shop and simply wish for it to be a good one. The last three times i have visited the chips have been a greasy, soggy and claggy. The fish, has been ok albeit the batter poor; a general lack of and certainly couldn't be considered to be light or crisp. The mushy peas are a real disappointment - simply no taste whatsoever. Chip shops frustrate me as we do not have the most complicated of cuisines. 3 ingredients, simply ensure fresh produce and don't get lazy with the cooking and oil. Sadly i'll be going elsewhere in future.

... but they certainly do sell a quality product. Wife was not happy with chips but I had to explain to her they were new spuds... made it even more tasty to me :) Will be back to try out their spam fritters and fish cakes!

Quite often I call for just chips if I'm at the butchers in the village. Sadly i have a small appetite these days but to sit at the indoor seating counter with the pictures of Patrington church and eat the tastiest chips and occasionally a fish what's not to like.

We tried her for a quick supper, as some a little closer to home really are not too good we thought we would give it a try as the front of the shop is very clean cut and modern looking. It was ok, nothing outstanding although the staff were lovely I think I will continue venturing into Anlaby when a fish supper calls

Having traveled on many occasions from hull to get the finest fish and chips in the uk from Newtons Traditional Fish and Chips at Patrington imagine my delight at the news that they were to open one in hull not far from my home. Having tried the hull shop on several occasions its great to know that the owners have held with their traditional values and delivered the same amazing fish and chips at the Hull shop as well as the Patrington shop. The fish is all fried fresh as you order it. The staff are very friendly and professional and the whole shop is spotlessly clean with a more than comprehensive menu. Shall I be going back???? Well in my opinion anyone who doesn't return is either a potato short of a full sack or prepared to eat lesser quality fish and chips and that is something I certainly aren't prepared to do.

Just been in for small fish and chips. The girl behind the counter (metal studs all over her face) ended up selling me a large fish and a carton of peas. In fact she looked at me for ages when she said, "£5.30 please". It was as if she was waiting for a reaction! Well the tactic hasn't worked, because instead of making repeated visits I shall not be going again!

This fish and chip shop is by far the best chippie in Hull. We go most weekends and they allow us to call our order through and collect. The fish is quality and fresh and the larger portions you have the choice of skin on or skin off.The staff cannot do enough for you and I can honestly say you will not find a better chip shop in Hull.Definitely recommend!!!!

I am a big fan of quality fish and chips, I had the pleasure of visiting newtons in patrington during the summer, this is a modern looking chip shop and no expense has been spared but don't let that fool you, the fish and chips are as traditional as you can get, the staff were very friendly and when I asked about the fish and chips the staff were proud to tell me that the potatoes used were locally sourced and only three days out the ground and the fish was fresh not the usual shatter pack which is served at a number of outlets, they then started telling me about the different cuts of fish and how they make the batter themselves, it was good to see people who were passionate about the food they were serving. When I heard that they were opening a new shop around the corner from my work I was a bit dubious that they could produce the same quality food and service at a different shop. When I visited I was delighted to see some of the same staff from the patrington shop and knew straight away that the service would be the same, I was not disappointed and the food was of the same standard as well. Thankyou newtons for providing quality food with traditional values and thankyou for bringing your ethos to Hull.

Generous sized portions, polite and friendly staff. We've tried all the fish & chip shops in the area and we think this one is the best.
