Service was great and really quick and the food was amazing would highly recommend

I had fish chips and peas they were 1st class Service was really good and a good atmosphere from the staff with their paying customers.

Extremely busy and I can see why. Excellent haddock and chips and a gluten free option for the wife. Very good gluten free options. Would definitely recommend.

Been a while since I’ve been to Ripley. One thing that hasn’t changed is probably one of the best if not THE BEST chippies in the UK “RIPLEYS”. My daughter treated me to mini fish chips and peas, absolutely out of this world! Fresh moist fish, crispy batter, proper chips not those limp insipid things most chippies fob us off with and mushy peas to die for. No wonder people were queued up to eat indoors or take out. I can’t think of a better reason to make my visits to Ripley a regular occurrence 👍🇬🇧

The only place me and the family get fish and chips from. The quality of the food and the service from the team at Ripley's is just outstanding. Crispy light battered fish that's just delicious and the chips are always hot and tasty also! I would also recommend the potato fritters. Thanks Ripleys! You can count on our custom in the future 😊

Fantastic quality food and service .

I've always loved Ripleys, but they must have changed the oil or something because the chips were better than before. I've eaten here a few times but the chips were definitely the best this time.

Myself and partner called into ripleys ...as we love fish/ chips... the experience was truly amazing... food exceptional and staff outstanding...look forward to our next visit which we be soon ....

I asked for mini fish and chips for my mother in law as take away and a large fish,chips and curry £18.65 upon dropping my mother in laws off and us going ho,r and sitting down to ours I opened my box to a large fish and pot of curry and no chips and upon phoning them back she said I was charged accordingly This is the first time I’ve used here as heard good reports but the last time at £18,65,,,,,,,

old dry stale strange smelling chips small piece cod in huge batter we ordered large cod in rice flour small, shrivelled and dry, we ordered large, if that was the large then I wonder what the small would look like the lady on the telephone was very helpful

Always have from ripley, fish is always very hot, but today i had cheeseburger and the burger was burnt

Absolutely love this restaurant/takeaway, had an early finish at work so popped in as I fancied fish and chips. Considering how busy they were (as always because they're fantastic), nor a long wait, and as always well worth waiting for. Highly recommended as the staff are really friendly and the service is perfect.

Fairly new to Ripley but visited the first time with family last year. Absolutely loved it and are now regular visitors. Always have a great meal. Always very fresh and very quick. Lovely staff too.

Fantastic gluten-free battered sausage and chips. So many GF choices! Family members agreed the regular gluten was lovely - best curry sauce they've ever had. Was busy (as expected on a sat evening) but staff were really well organised and very apologetic for any wait. The food was well worth it and I will definitely be returning in future. The restaurant attached had a lovely, friendly atmosphere.

Lovely to find a local chip shop that offers a great gluten free menu. We visited for the first time today and loved our meals. Batter was light, fluffy and not greasy as some can be. We ate in, the service was great and staff were really good with out allergies. A highlight for me was having gluten free vinegar as well! Gluten free is available on Friday and Saturday only.

I don't want to have to have sauce on my chips when I order them

It's not very often I come to ripley, but when I do I always come to the best plaice in town with my daughter and grandson, excuse the pun but I thought it was quite fitting, most enjoyable meal thank you

The fish and chips are delicious. But my only criticism is that the restaurant needs a reimbursement.

First time tried Ripley fish chips definitely will be going back again fish perfectly cooked as was my girlfriends meal cheese onion fruits verey friendly staff all'so verey clean and tidy 100 percent recommend them

I can't comment on the food as we didn't get around to ordering but when we arrived to order there was only 1 other person in front of us. We were there around 20 minutes waiting to be served during which we witnessed several orders being made up ready for collection but not once were we acknowledged by any of the staff. We did hear staff members swearing and also witnessed a vegetarian burger meal being made up. Unfortunately the vegetarian burger was touching a beef burger and stored in the same hot grill as all the sausages and other meat foods so not sure it can still be classed as vegetarian. I certainly won't be ordering the veggi burger anytime soon from there. Needless to say we left without food

Food normally fantastic. But tonight they messed up. Scampi was cheeseburger was tasteless. Chips not good. It's what you do. Should be perfect every time

We called in here for the first time last week for takeaway chip meals. Quite a long queue but that must tell you something about the place being so popular. The food was lovely, nice sized portions and a reasonable price. Will definitely be calling in again.

The best fish (cod) I have eaten in years. Lovely atmosphere and staff. Could not fault it at all The chips were crispy and fluffy the batter was crisp but moist. This sauces where lovely.And to top it off the pricing is good too. Will dine again!!

If you go in you can book a table, although not online etc. Although the menu wasn't huge the variety was enough for everyone to find something they wanted to eat. The decor was like a mini museum, brilliantly done. Had a good meal here

This chip shop is bussin fr fr. The servers are amazing. The food is lovely i love this chippy with all my heart. The quote on the wall "a day without fish n chips is a day wasted" is so wholesome. Truely an amazing british chippy 10/10

Visited family in the area staying at the Premier Inn, this is just a short drive away. Food was excellent, good kids menu and service was extremely friendly. Definitely a place I'd recommend to families.

This is one of the most expensive fish and chips I have come across. Small mushy peas, gravy etc £1.75 each. The chips and pie were under cooked. If this is the best there is to offer on the town I would hate to have tried the others. Prices in Scarborough and Whitby are cheaper than here

Ordered a take away for certain time. When came to collect it the order was just ready. Food was piping hot when we opened it at home. The portions were huge and the food was just delicious! The staff is always super friendly and caring. It's the best fish and chips in town!

Brilliant! Was on a short break staying locally to visit family, read good reviews about the place so went in on a Saturday evening with the family. The service is so friendly & food is excellent, the batter was so crispy & light on the fish which was cooked perfectly & very tasty, chunky crispy chips & the mushy peas tasted superb! Great meal deal for the kids which was reasonably priced. Will definitely go again when we are next staying in the area ❤️ 🐟 & 🍟 😋

Disappointed to get home with my 'phone ordered' takeaway and discover there was no side dish of peas in the bag. I also expected more chips for the price. Suggested that I return for them to correct the issue (and let my meal go cold?). The 'fish' was beautiful but very dry without a side dish. Like I said...disappointed for £12.95.

I didn’t sit in so for atmosphere can’t really give 5 but it does look nice to sit in and all ways seams busy so that must be a good sign. Love the food it’s all ways nice and warm when I get home and the chips are so nice. Highly recommended

We went in on Saturday 9th December and both had fish chips and peas with a cup of tea. As my wife is Coeliac, we ordered 1 gluten free version. Great service, comfortable surroundings, friendly staff and excellent food. So great to have quality gluten free food and a restaurant that takes it very seriously to avoid any cross contamination - even providing separate GF vinegar. 10/10.

Chose Ripley's as they do GF Friday and Saturday evenings. A plus is that they have dedicated fryers. It is the best GF Batter I have tasted. Light and crispy. My husband and mum has regular Fish and Chips and said they were delicious too. Shame we live in Dorset, but when visiting family will definitely return.

We had 43 fish and chip meals delivered for a private function. The food arrived on time and was hot and delicious. Fantastic service and great people to deal with. They also catered for gluten free and veggie and everything was clearly labelled. Highly recommend.

Didn't realise how big the portions were for a large chips! Didn't take long to feel full. Great value for money, delivered on time and the food was spot on

The food is lovely very very nice the only criticism was the portion size of chips I ordered regular but the size that came was more like a child’s portion

Takeaway meal 2 fish, large chips, fishcake 2 mushy 2 curry £28!!! I know prices have gone up but I honestly thought they had only put in one fish when we got home. Nothing like an actual “fish” when we got home more like 3 fish goujons. Looked like each bit was not even half a fish. I did check the order as the server read back my order as 2 fish slices. I checked and he said that’s our regular fish. It is not regular it is tiny !!! fishcake was also the smallest I’ve seen. Looked like a child’s. Never again.

Advertised as open until 8.30 weeknight. Door locked and cleaning up at 8.25. Surely open until 8.30 means for customers to purchase, not to be turning the lights off and going home?

Delicious food! After being recently diagnosed with coeliac disease I didn’t think I’d be able to have a takeaway so really pleased there’s somewhere local now that provides gluten free.

Fish has not been as nice just lately, seems like it's not cooked long enough or its gone like this since they've sourced the fish from elsewhere. ( cheaper so I've been told) Twice now the fish seems chewy so I'm a bit put off. Used to be lovely 😕

Waited ages to be served, then told had got table orders mixed up ,so had to re-order, then waited ages again. Ended up having it as a takeaway as needed to be somewhere.

Superb food and service, travelled from Derby purely to purchase at this establishment, they go above and beyond.

I really want to say how amazing the staff are in this place they are so supportive and polite This was my first visit with my children the food was amazing the curry sauces wasn’t to runny like other chip shops it was perfect My oldest is autistic and it’s very rare she finishes a meal but from this chip shop she ate everything The chip cob wasn’t a normal cob it was like a flowery posh cob it was quiet big to We will be coming back thank you

Brilliant speedy service, friendly staff and management, and tasty food. The food isn't greasy like it can easily be from a chip shop and the portions are generous. Can be very busy with a queue out of the door for takeaway but it is well worth the wait. Would definitely recommend.
