Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.
Average food.Long wait. Locals seemed to get priority. Rude language. would not return. very rude staff. People kept starring & commenting on our accents as we weren't local.
Fantastic friendly staff - cakes were exceptional and perfect with a cup of tea after doing the nearby waterfall hike. Sitting in the garden gives you great views down the valley. Would highly recommend!
we were lucky enough to visit here twice in the Easter holidays and on both occasions the food was freshly cooked and delicious. lovely light batter and great chips. portion sizes were good. We can’t wait to go back. parking spaces outside and also an indoor and outdoor seating area.
Absolute gem of a cafe. Doesn’t look much from outside but its a great little cafe.
I’m a vegetarian and they happily swapped out the sausage and bacon fron the full english breakfast for wilted spinach and rocket and sourdough. Cooked lovely. Coffee is delicious too. Friendly staff.
It was so goo that I came back for the second day of my stay.
Best fish and chips in Saddleworth. I travel there from Mossley as it's worth it. Crisp and tasty fish. Chips good enough. And cheese and onion pie is 5 stars too.
This place isn't as good as it used to be. First 3 or 4 times order was fine now they seem to not care ALWAYS getting sauces wrong. They never try and resolve instead you get next time next time. Won't be ordering from here they only happy to take your money.

Respect to the restaurant for replying.
Mixed bag on this one:
-Halloumi Fries - Incredibly tasty, cooked well and a decent portion size for the price. My favourite item.
- Korean Style Fried Chicken - Very tasty, again decent size portion too.
- Stir Steak Tacos - Disappointing item. Meat was plain, the tacos had no sauce on them. Was a very disappointing taco, would not recommend.
- Buttermilk Chicken Two (slider) - Photo for reference, but too expensive for £4.25. I get its a slider, but the thing was tiny. Flavour was mediocre too, bog standard fried chicken. Bun was nice though.
-Chocolate Hazelnut Churros with Toffee Sauce - Was delivered so potentially affected the crunch, however overall mediocre. Tasty enough, but hardly any sugar coated, chrusos was floppy, and the toffe sauce left alot to be desired. Id recommend going for a nutella style sauce in future, or at least add it as an option.
Overall placed is worth 3/5 stars. Has got some great menu items, but naturally with a larger menu some items wont be as good.
