So glad I found this little golden nugget in Shaftesbury. With out a shadow of a doubt some of the best fish and chips I've had in the best part of 20 years the food is amazing, staff are very friendly and service was very quick. I 100% recommend coming here for your fish and chips.

Visited for the first time today. Best fish and chips we've had in quite a few years. Best in Shaftesbury. Fantastic staff, very friendly. Fantastic food. Fish cooked perfect. Batter was outstanding. Chips were absolutely lush! Curry sauce was a very good size and all very tasty. Found our new fish and chips shop!

Their fish and chips i would rate at 10 out of 10, very taisty Chips, and the battered on their Cod is excellent. 👌and plenty of fish inside the batter as well.

I have been buying Haddock and chips most weeks over the last 6 months. The quality generally has been very good. Unfortunately yesterday the quality was very poor. The haddock was barely cooked with very soggy batter. The chips were very small peices and surprisingly very gritty almost like there was sand in them!

Delightful atmosphere with staff and waiting customers. Really delicious plaice (my friend said it was the best she had ever had) and my cod and chips was excellent. Well be back for more!

Please make sure your timetable is correct, I just drove there and was closed (just before 3pm). Your opening times are stated as 12:00-21:00 on Fridays.

This place doesn't look too prepossessing but it really does serve the best fish and chips for miles around - absolutely fresh fish and crisp batter.

Excellent fish and chip shop. Ordered for 7 people on the phone. Order was ready exactly when they said it would be for collection. Fresh fish, crispy chips and not greasy. Mushy peas with the perfect consistency. Good value.

Portion sizes are big, quality is impressive. Parking is impossible as surrounded by double yellow lines, but there are places to park and walk if happy to. We got caught out with No card payments accepted, so for now, make sure you have cash on you 😂

Very disappointed in the food in a very good spot but the chips are not fresh dry and the small fishcake was so soft it couldn't hold shape quite bad it doesn't matter that the small portion of chips is large.

We had (for 2 of us) 1 Plaice, 1 Haddock, 1 large Chips and 2 Pea fritters. Service was great, foid was awesome hot and tasty. But be prepared there was enough for 4 people. Just couldn't eat it all. See why they are always busy.

First time ordering with Golden Fish yesterday, it was around half an hour wait after phoning but honestly, with everything going on at the moment, it's just nice to see the place busy so the wait wasn't a major problem (if service was a little quicker would have been 5 star). Really nice Fish and Chips, good size portions, very fairly priced and friendly service. Always seem to struggle to find a decent Fish and Chip shop locally but definitely impressed with our first visit and we will definitely be back, soon!
