Eye wateringly expensive if you need to buy something to take home for lunch. 3 slices of quiche £22.50. Only 50p each less than having it heated on a plate with salad. Arrrgh.

We have eaten in and also taken away the amazing Butter Chicken curry. Absolutely delicious. Best we have ever had.

The best cafe in Dorset. Superb menu range for lunches and desserts, incredible bits of food in a unique little place.

Came here because we used to love the food at The Compasses and we're very pleased we did. Efficient, friendly service and the food is fantastic value. Extremely tasty made with high quality ingredients. Will be back for sure.

The best place in the area for Lunch or a snack from Thursday to Saturday. Superb menu. Very hard to choose because it is all freshly cooked and delicious. Some salads and vegetables are grown on site. Excellent friendly service too. Children and dogs are welcome. You can sit inside or out and there are some small businesses to explore as well as an organic farm shop so you can take some of the goodness home with you. .

Our food was served in good time and it was utterly delicious!!! Sublime winter spicy soup. Perfect beef pasty with a fresh and tasty salad. Finished off the best mince pies ever. All so good we had to personally commend the lovely chef.

Tasty food from a small menu. This was the most delicious pork burger with a spicy twist. Sadly not available on our second visit or I would have ordered it again! Delicious lemon cordial and their date flapjacks were also a tasty teatime treat for later.

There are no real menu's coffee wasn't hot comes in small cup for £3.30 and taste wasn't pleasant. Uncomfortable seating uninviting and a bit dilapidated closed three days a week only one bathroom.

I never bother writing reviews unless I am blown away. Possibly the best lunch I have ever had in Dorset. Fresh vegetables, delicious Indonesian dish, I could have been in Indonesia if it wasn't for the view of Hambledon Hill in the background! Excellent chef and lovely atmosphere. You can tell these people care about what they are doing. Dog friendly. I can't believe it has taken me so long as a local to discover it. Visit!!

Ignore any previous negative reviews for this place (although there aren’t many!) - it is under new management and is simply the best place around for lunch. Great food, reasonably priced, and lovely people running it. Couldn’t recommend this place enough - I hope it really works out and goes from strength to strength.

The weather and the setting helped, but what a delicious lunch. I had the Korean Beef Bun - hot and sour. The beef had melted deliciously, it was packed with vegetables, flavour and texture could not be improved on. My wife had the (spicy) beetroot dip and a salad with home-made foccacia. Even the salad was delicious, mostly from the organic farm on site. And such good value, comfortably under £20. Well done and keep it up.

This place is so nice. Recently taken over by the amazing new chef Paddy. Coffee and cake to give you a lovely kick into action and delicious hoi sin duck rolls. Wow.

Food - some of the best home-cooked wholefoods I have ever had, and so refreshing for a vegetarian option to be a complete and balanced meal rather than simply something nice to eat. Service - super friendly and helpful. Ambience - a lively slightly bohemian atmosphere in a magical setting. Value - Good! Recommend - sitting out on a sunny day. Result - we came away not only with lunch but a memorable time. Congratulations to the new owners.

We are local, and have been coming here for years, enjoying the brilliant food. The cafe is now under new ownership, and we decided to check it out, a bit worried that it might not be as good. Worries completely unfounded. It’s even better. The falafels, stuffed aubergines, grilled hispi cabbage, bacon buttie, salad & garlic kalettes were all to die for. Devoured every last delicious mouthful, and finished off with cake and coffee. Yum. Prices reasonable too. Well done to Paddy, Sarah, Nick, Clare & the rest of the team, we’ll be back!

We have eaten here a number of times and the food is always delicious, imaginative and reasonably priced. The service is cheerful and efficient. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Thought £9 was a bit steep for a small piece of quiche and a small dollop of beetroot salad in a cardboard box, I’ve had much better for the same price elsewhere.

In pleasant village. Nice cakes and coffee but sadly won’t be returning. Management requires better customer service skills.

Simply without fault. Super place.

My meet here with a good friend saw us being served great coffee and really superb cakes by an extremely polite and erudite lady behind the counter and an equally impressive waitress. Service absolutely top-notch. A lively atmosphere was created by the mix of walkers and cyclists and locals enjoying a relaxed and bohemian vibe. You always get the odd bad review, and had I read them I would have been put off, not by the reviews but the barely literate and scathing owner responses - I do not believe the folks present were the same! Curious! Keep up the good work, and I will be back again and again.

We ate the most sublime lunch here. The Focaccia was so tasty and herby and the courgette dip was the tastiest thing I have eaten in forever. Simple but utterly delicious. Thank you

Staff very friendly and cafe & shop worth a visit

As a family with 2 young (ish) children, we came across this place by accident, whilst going for a drive in the beautiful dorset countryside. We were subjected to a very officious woman insisting we put our masks on (children not included) whilst we were in the process of taking them out of our pockets in readiness. It seemed to us that she had a particularly bad attitude, but we let it go. We only had cake and drinks, the coffee wasn't particularly good and the cakes were rather on the dry side, however that paled into significance when an older family arrived and 2 members of the party did not have masks, and were then subjected to a tirade of virtual interrogation, and then publicly turned away in a very rude and frankly embarrassing way. For this rudeness and total lack of respect and humility, we will never return. Cafe is in a nice setting though, but the woman in question needs to learn some people skills.

Have to agree with other reviews this place is the best find! Curries only available on Saturdays . ( best ordering as they sell out fast!) The curries are freshly prepared and the best I have tasted! Usually vegan and one meat option . The aubergine and tomato one is amazing! Bhajis are mega and crispy! My best find this year! X

This is by far the best Bap I've had in the UK - avocado mayo to die for, egg and bacon cooked perfectly! The salad that comes with it is excellent as well! I've been coming here for awhile and everything on the menu is delicious, plus the staff and owner, Sharon, are all divine. Many thanks.

As always, just a wonderful experience. It's a really special place in a gorgeous setting. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. It's fantastic knowing what you're eating has been organically grown just metres away from where you're sitting! I also love the quirky design of the cafe, we sat inside as it was so hot and it has a lovely fun atmosphere. Every time I'm in Dorset this is an absolute must visit. Can't recommend enough.

Lovely food and great allergy awareness

Very welcoming intimate and warm rustic cafe venue currently serving home cooked all vegetable fare. The curry and chilli were out of this world and worth the trip and we are not committed vegetarians but appreciate good cooking. Mr Coren will no doubt be seen there soon !

Such a lovely experience. Food and coffee are excellent, staff are helpful. The art gallery, organic shop and glass studio add to the experience.

Fabulous Cafe, lots of organic snacks and juices in a lovely setting. Even the local chickens visit. Take some time to drop by.

Totally delicious salad and coffee

I was treated to lunch here by a good friend and it was a real treat! The food has flavour and is well presented. I had the rarebit which tasted define! Good selection and good size portions. I think it was very well priced aswell. The cakes looked fantastic so I will try one next time!

Visited with husband and daughter who is vegan. Had celeriac and chickpea burger, avacado mayo and coleslaw. It was so tasty and the coleslaw dressing amazing. The menu is limited but what they do do is yummy :-)

This little cafe is also adjacent to a farm shop and gallery which all has a lovely community feel. On a sunny day, sat outside, this is a great option for a relaxing break. Lots of cyclists also seem to make it a stop. The ginger cake was delicious and also lovely coffee. Looks like you might be able to stay here too? Great place and thoroughly recommend.

The chef here knows flavour, and packs a lot in to her veggie food. Good portions of delicious, creative food and great coffee alongside. Great place (and the farm shop is excellent - the main reason I go!)

We are staying in the village for a couple of months and thought we would head up and check out the cafe. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the coffee/cake were very well priced.2 coffees were really nice with a great aroma and taste. The sticky ginger cake was delicious! It was light and full flavoured. We will definitely be returning during our stay in the village and highly recommend it to anyone visiting!

Often go here for lunch, all organic vegetarian. They grow their own produce and sell in shop. Only open on Thursday, Fridays and Saturday. Good coffee and cakes. Dog friendly. Art gallery and glass firing workshop, high end art with well curated gallery, London connected. Honest place and sop has won award for produce.

This family farm is absolutetly amazing. The family is warm and welcoming and super helpful. The shop has everything you need.

I have to confess that I am biased as Sharon is my mate, and I’ve sampled her cooking many times over the years, it’s fantastic! I love her cafe and I know that the food and cakes are made with the love and care necessary to make great food, the coffee is superb too. Her and Izzie cook up some great grub, make lovely coffee and it’s well worth the trip from Asia just to visit them and enjoy the company & the cake.

Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but definitely worth a diversion, if you're nearby on those days, bold confident flavours, and keen service, this place is off the hook.

Delicious vegetarian lunch. Good service and a lovely venue! I had the vegetarian burger, it was so tasty, and came with a delicious coleslaw style salad. Also has a freezer of meals to take away.

Amazing! North Dorset best kept secret 😍 fabulous farm shop, with organic produce, locally produced meats, an amazing cafe with the best range of teas, yummy coffee and really yummy food. An art gallery and I hear soon to have massage and Pilates on site too. Seriously how did I not know it was there? A one stop shop for Everything you need, quality and very affordable. 😍

Great food and interesting art including glass blowing - well worth visiting.

We came here for lunch, on the strength of good reports about the food, and were not disappointed. Excellent ingredients and everything carefully prepared. The indoor seating is cosy, and there are several picnic tables in the large paved courtyard at the front. (There's a basic outdoor lavatory, which I had difficulty in locating.)

Decided to go somewhere we have never been before. The people were warm and welcoming and very helpful. There is a small menu on the board but each of us found something we liked. The lovely lady there offered to make a simple sandwich for my picky daughter. They only take cash so go prepared. We failed to read the reviews beforehand which stated it was a vegetarian menu but my husband was happy with a cake. The soup was the best I have tasted in years. It was a relaxing tasty lunch. The lady in the farm shop next door is friendly and helpful and the produce looked fresh and there was a good variety of local organic products.

Very interesting and wide choice of vegetarian lunches. Ours were delicious. We also visited the art gallery housed in the same building which had some beautiful paintings. There is also an organic food shop. It is very near Hambledon Hill (National Trust owned prehistoric hillfort) so would make a good stop before or after visiting

We stopped off for lunch on the way down to Swanage. We had a really good veggie burger, Mac & Cheese and some brilliant bacon sandwiches. Delicious food, really good value, and lovely interior and vibe. Farm shop next door has some great stuff too

We were staying for a weekend locally and were advised that this was a great café to visit and we were not disappointed.

Lunch was delicious and packed with healthy ingredients. Loved my side salad - it had amazing texture and such a fresh, tasty dressing; far from the usual drab side salad you get in a chain cafe! Lovely friendly atmosphere and good service as well.

Overall great simople meal, both myself and my partner are veggie and this cafe has plenty to choose from. nice cosy indoor seating area and a large patio for warmer days.

Great Cafe, lovely food with a nod to india and the east in terms of spices used in the food. Cakes are great as are the smoothies. A really cool cafe in a beautiful Dorset Village. A must visit destination with an amazing art gallery next door as well as a farm shop with produce grown on site so zero food miles.

Sentimos que los precios representaba una buena relación calidad-precio. Hay una gran variedad de asientos disponibles para parejas o grupos más grandes y la decoración se inclinaba más hacia la década de 1970, que le da un carácter inusual el café digno de atención. El adyacente a una granja orgánica vale la pena visitar en el camino de vuelta al aparcamiento de tamaño razonable. Volveremos. . .

Lovely place to stop for refreshments after being on one of the many walks around the village. The food is always healthy and delicious and the staff most welcoming. I often make this my weekly treat now after my walk and visit the farm shop next door for some veg.....

We visited on a Saturday morning having wanted to visit for awhile. Small artisan café and farm shop below Hambleton Hill. Freshly made food. Good coffee. Main/lunch snacks £5.50, cakes £2-3 for small slick. Outdoor and indoor seating with trending ill-matched cutlery and furniture in farm diversification building. Also art studios. Currently pig , pygmy goats and chickens to see. Farm shop as local cheeses and meat and organics veg from farther afield - fair price. Staff friendly. Open only Thursday through Saturday 10-4pm.

I took my daughter in law and 7month granddaughter out for lunch last week and we both commented on the welcome and helpfulness of the staff. We enjoyed a hot tasty lunch and had the comfort of not having to rush but enjoy a leisurely time chatting. I had a very hearty minestrone soup and my d-in-l had the chickpea and chirozo piewhich was ample for a lunch time snack. The choice is not vast but everyone should be able to find something to their taste.The premises are small but clean and everything seemed home cooked.

This was our first visit, and it was the best food i'd had eating out in ages. The salad was crisp & tasty, the dressing superb, the homemade potato & kale cake with poached egg was fantastic. Made with care & attention & washed down with a sumptuous flat white. Incredible value for money, we will definitely return.

Make a detour and visit this wonderful retro cafe! Some of the best sticky fruit fruit cake we have tasted and delicious cherry shortbread. Looking forward to our next visit.

We popped in for lunch and were quite surprised there were only six items on the menu! The homity pie was relatively tasteless and the salad consisted of beetroot leaves and shredded cabbage. My husband had soup and a very small crust of bread. The cakes were a real disappointment. The yoghurt cake was burnt at the bottom and the yoghurt topping tasted as though a spoonful of yoghurt had been added to a box of icing sugar. My husbands flapjack was as dry as a bone. Service was fine and the coffee was delicious though! Come on ladies get your act together and step up your game. It's a perfect spot, coffee is delicious, prices are reasonable but the cakes and lunches need a little extra effort!

I've visited this cafe several times and have found the cakes, smoothies and lunches to be delicious. Sadly, having only visited last week, today there were no lunches on offer. The owner is away. It would have been helpful if an advance notice was posted so that we could have been saved a wasted journey. We only wanted a salad. The rating I have given is for past visits as I couldn't rate something a didn't get

I have only had coffee and cake here but it was fabulous, I would recommend it without hesitation and look forward to trying lunch there one day.

I have visited this great little cafe several times recently, mainly when I have been shopping at the organic farm shop next door. The speciality teas, coffee and cakes are excellent and I am looking forward to returning soon for lunch, as the specials looked so very tempting. How lucky everyone in Child Okeford is to have this on their doorstep!

Super dinky cafe in Child Okeford next to Goldhill Organics farm shop and The Art Stable . Ideal spot for lovely light lunches, good variety of teas and freshly made coffees . Cakes are home made, generous portions and delicious. Food is excellent with a varied choice of locally sourced food with a special flavoursome twist. Lovely 60's/70's decor and object d'Art for sale. Special table for the kiddies.It is small and quirky, and owner Sharon gives off a great energy with her passion for food, art and conversation A great addition to the village.

This new café is a wonderful place to visit. Set amongst the interesting shops and gallery at Gold Hill Farm, the food is freshly made and delicious. The soups make a perfect lunch and the cakes are SO good. I would travel a long way for one of their Flapjacks!

Just wonderful a beautiful place to eat looking out over Gold hill, just wish they could have a larger place for the amount of people that want to visit as there food was wonderful.

The cafe has had a revamp recently .It's now adjoining the farm shop, and it has been done simply, but very tastefully.We live in a nearby village, so it's nice to come to Gold Hill Farm to buy their wonderful fresh vegetables, and purchase local eggs and bread etc..If we are around the area at the weekend, we pop in for a pot of tea and a piece of home made cake.The choice is small, but whatever you choose will be home cooked and delicious.They have an outside seating area, so its lovely to take in the sun whilst relaxing and taking some refreshment.
