One of the most iconic and historic music venues Nottingham has to offer. Sound quality for gigs is A1. Great range of ales, lagers & craft beers plus the usual array of wines & optics. Friendly staff and a landlord that cares about his venue. Perfect host. Check local listings for upcoming gigs. You will find high quality acts that have travelled half way across the globe. Very respectful crowd who appreciate music and want to listen rather than talk all the way through the gig. Highly recommended. Always a great atmosphere.

Music is fantastic! I see The Most Ugly Child as often as I can, and I've never been disappointed by just turning up to see a band. Some great beers draught and fun shots too. The bar has a strong country theme which is pretty cool!

Never made to feel more welcome in a new pub. Stumbled by completely by accident on the hint for aome live music and found a country band singing. Bar staff we so accompanying friendly and considerate. Really made our night and looked after us well. Thank you Bob and everyone .

Popped in on Saturday night with my boyfriend to listen live music. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff.

Saw the highway junkies here last night,the staff and landlord couldn't have been more helpful. Good selection of beer,nice vibe. It was my first time here and will go again..a great credit to the live music scene.

It used to be a rock and blues bar..over the past few years it's changed hands more times than a playing card..no longer rock music but country acts occasionally..no problem there..but there was around 10 customers in on a Saturday night ?..and the landlord .. don't ask ..they have every excuse under the sun for no one being there.. school holidays blah blah blah..they've killed the place

Great event with Speech Therapy every month but bit pricey on soft drinks

A mighty fine establishment that currently only opens at the weekend. Hosts regular live gigs and also a highly recommended vinyl listening session on the second Sunday of every month.

Excelent support band before the always excelent Most Ugly Child. The usual great night out.

Reasonably priced, chique and independent venue. Parking nearby is available too.

Always a welcome. Only open a few days a week for music events. Good beer enthusiastic landlord and a great ambience for the type of music presented. Music tends towards acoustic small bands duos and solo acts.

The staff were very friendly. However dissapointing to find that not only was there not a running horse in the pub, there was no horse at all...!

Rob has done wonders with the place, the once dark dingy bar is now a bright and inviting pub and music venue, with excellent well-kept beer and a lively, friendly atmosphere.

Excellent venue for metal bands

My grandparents first met in this pub and married over 70 years my grandad still alive and is now 92 years. I not been in yet but I always wanted to I must pay a visit :-) and plus I do love live music myself x Ann x

The Running Horse is back under new management, with a focus on live music. It is no longer just a pub, Only open on Friday and Saturday nights, the venue is the perfect setting for kicking back and listening to blues, rock and the rest. The former glory of the Running Horse, renowned for its blues and fabulous gigs is the incentive behind the new focus.
