Little Brickhouse in Nottingham

Second time here but less impressed than the previous visit. When we sat down the table cloth was wet! We pointed it out to the waitress who told us it was clean as it had just come out of the washing machine……. You don’t say!!! What on earth would make you think putting a wet table cloth on was acceptable? As it was long we would have ended up with wet trousers, she did remove it and we proceeded with a bare table, no problem but the napkins were also wet so couldn’t put one on our laps. The food was very tasty and well cooked but we had two lots of bread and five of the nine dishes available (between four) and I certainly was still hungry. Waitress was lovely and service was good but not sure we’ll be giving it a third go.

La comida era de alta calidad y excelente relación calidad-precio, especialmente algunos de los platos pequeños. Solo una pequeña mancha fue mejilla de buey se habría beneficiado de una cocción más larga como en el lado duro - todavía sabía muy bien y un descuento aplicado a la factura (que no era realmente necesario, pero agradable de todos modos). Bonito ambiente y sin duda uno para volver.

Nuestra primera visita con amigos, la comida era deliciosa y la camarera era realmente encantador , sin embargo el vino blanco era horrible . ‘ natural / orgánico pero el sabor era terrible , turbio e insípido y me costó beberlo al igual que mi amigo . Los hombres estaban contentos con la cerveza embotellada, pero nos gusta una buena copa de vino con nuestra comida. Lástima que no hay una opción de “traiga su propio vino”...

Perfect little neighborhood restaurant. Every dish we had was lovely - really tasty food in a welcoming, fun environment with great music and happy chatter all round. You can feel the love that’s been put into this restaurant. I hope it stays here for many years. ❤️

Our lunch was absolutely perfect; imaginative dishes, beautiful flavours, & the warmest hosts. We had three small plates to share & one main, which was an ideal amount for lunchtime. The best meal out we've had in a long time.

A lovely little restaurant. While the menu is small every dish was delicious. Portions are generous and I liked the cloth tablecloth and serviettes. There is a small, but thoughtful drinks selection. I will definitely be back.

Phenomenal little atmosphere Tapas restaurant. Food was amazing, service excellent.

La comida era deliciosa, interesante, sabrosa y rica. Sin embargo, el vino tinto que pedimos sabía a vinagre. Devolvimos la botella pero dijeron que era “vino natural”. Como se trataba de una celebración de cumpleaños y no queríamos hacer alboroto, decidimos poner fin al asunto y pedir unas cervezas alemanas muy buenas. El vino era de £ 38 por lo que dejó un sabor agrio en ambas cuentas. Creemos que volveremos pero nos quedaremos con la cerveza.

My daughter chose Little Brick House for a celebration meal and we were 100% satisfied with her selection! The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, we were welcomed and looked after brilliantly. The star of the show was the food. With five of us at the table we ordered most items off the menu (we even doubled up on one!) so got a real sense of what the place can offer. The menu changes frequently so it's unlikely you'll get the same choice but the dishes were a great mix of daring (swordfish carpaccio), beautiful (buratta with raspberry and almond), polished (monkfish and prawns) and imaginative (steak with padron) with some expertly executed more 'classic' options (gnocchi). There wasn't a duff dish and many of the flavours were explosive (in a good way!). I'd highly recommend visiting Little Brick House - and with the changing menu I can't wait for my next visit!

This is a true Gem in the city centre. An Absolutely outstanding independent restaurant! Owners and chefs fantastic and all round great experience! One word sums this place up - PERFECT ! 👌

So the small plates and natty wine trend has reached Nottingham… Delightful little dishes to start (although £5 for cold bread and butter is a bit obscene) and some very tasty pastas and risotto to follow. Might come back for the chicken piccata! Nice ambience to the place with colourful eclectic local art on the walls and relaxed music. First class service from our waitress Maisie, who definitely deserves a raise!

I LOVED visiting this restaurant and cannot wait for my next trip to Nottingham so that I can come back! The atmosphere is very charming, tasteful yet unpretentious, with good music, nice decor, and most of all, EXCELLENT food. I tried a variety of dishes and I can say that my favourites were the buratta with melon and parma ham, and the chocolate cake. Which was unusual as I usually don't enjoy chocolate cake- this one, however, was impossible to resist. If there is anything I could praise the most about The Little Brickhouse, it would be the herb oil on the burrata dish. I have tried herb oil before, but none like this. My visit to this restaurant has surely raised my standards for both restaurants and my own cooking. Moreover, our waitress was welcoming and seemed genuinely happy to be working there- having worked in hospitality, it's always a huge green flag to see a business where the employees seem enthusiastic about their jobs. It also makes for a very wholesome and enjoyable dining experience. In short, LOVE LOVE LOVE! Cannot wait to come back!

Food is just so simple and delicious plus the service is spot on - laid back but attentive. It’s a small restaurant, so make sure you book if a special occasion - they do take walk ins I understand, but v popular so you may be disappointed.

8 of us went for a work event. Really 'kitsch' decor, such as old paintings, non-matching tables and cutlery etc. Service was really friendly and efficient. But the winner was the food. Tapas style 'small plates', which were fantastic. Every dish was different and packed with flavour. Personally, the prawns, risotto and carpaccio were my favourite. People were trying ingredients they would normally swerve, such as chickpeas with cumin and mango with cream cheese, (I think that was the combo). Wide selection of beers and the French white natural wine was excellent Can't comment on cost as the bill never came my way! All in all a great and unique little restaurant and one I'll be returning too.

I have eaten here once before and not long after it had opened. The decor is rustic and there's no attention to cleanliness or service at front of house. No ice bucket with a bottle of cava and dirty cutlery. What wasn't dirty was badly tarnished and that's not really good for you. It's a shame they have such bad service when they have a good chef and beautiful, tasty and imaginative. So many reviews have reported bad service - why can't you get your act together. Or is there something I am missing and are most diners not aware food hygine and good service. We tipped, of course we are British but really are you just having a laugh at our expense.

Generally we’re really impressed with the food the burrata and melon was so fresh and tasty, and the other dishes we ordered were lovely and tasty. The thing that let down the experience for us was firstly there was a huge party going on and as this is a small restaurant it was very loud and I could barely hear my partner speak had to go outside a couple of times during the meal just to get some respite. I appreciate this isn’t necessarily the restaurants fault but just bear in mind this is a very small restaurant as is and the party were dominated the atmosphere. Secondly the service was finally poor. The staff were nice but inattentive. At the end of our meal nobody was circulating to ask for the bill and had to go up to ask for it which isn’t ideal. Just put a bit of a downer on the experience because this could have been brilliant with a bit more attentive service and a more relaxed atmosphere this would have been 10/10

Amazing all round. Can’t fault anything. Impeccable service, the dishes almost take you through a journey with the depth of flavour and texture, I loved the music and atmosphere. Best for a special occasion with loved ones given the intimate vibe.

I'm not usually into little plates but little brick house 💯 changed my mind. The small plates were shareable by two people and they arrived at your table super freshly cooked, hot and super delicious! Prices were fair, we had 4 plates between 2 + desert each. We were comfortabley full + got to try lots of interesting well prepared food. Really enjoyed our evening will certainly go back

The seasonal menu is fantastic. The oysters are highly recommended. Each dish has a very unique flavour and the small plates are decent size. The wine list is also very good! The service was very good and the atmosphere was very calming

Easily some of the tastiest cuisine that Nottingham has to offer. I heard the menu changes frequently and I look forward to enjoying everything that comes out of this kitchen! Incredible value.

Great little place. Went with a friend July 2023 and we both loved it. The olives were the best we've ever had. (And the breaded olives were amazing too!) ..A bit of a hipster crowd, but would definitely recommend even if that's not your usual scene. Staff were lovely.

Without a doubt my most favourite restaurant in Nottingham. From the incredibly inspiring food to the wholesome atmosphere and the remarkable hospitality, it’s definitely a must visit.

My go to place for all occasions; date night, girls dinner, work party or solo dining. The place is beautiful and homely, the atmosphere is soft and intimate, the staff are warm, kind and attentive and the wine is delicious. I have had multiple menus and never had a single bad dish. Constantly stating a new dish as my favourite meal ever, only being over taken by the next (I once ordered two plates of potatoes just for myself). The flavours are creative and outgoing, the presentation is beautiful and unpretentious and whether you order 1 plate or the whole menu, it’s all so wonderful. Nothing but love for Little Bricks. Nottingham is so lucky to have this place and is the definition of hidden gem. ♥️

Went here for dinner last night it was great! Food was amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. Very reasonably priced & attentive service, would recommend.

I visited at 6clock on Friday. The day after eating the food, I experienced symptoms of norovirus. I had continuous vomiting and diarrhea, and it was challenging with chills and headaches. Two others who visited with me had the same symptoms. Despite having only one oyster , it was an arduous experience. Leaving this review to warn others about this unfortunate situation. Worst experience ever🥲Im still in a lot of pain as I write

What a great spot. I got the turkish eggs with extra bacon and potato cakes (not sure of the correct name). It was delicious, i will definitely be coming back. We had 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees which came to just over 30quid , which is a little high, but worth it as it was so tastey. The staff were also brillaint, and even got us a bowl of water for our dog. Definetely one of my top places for brunch now.

Fabulous evening where the restaurant provided a wonderful venue for a friend's 60th birthday. The food was 😋 delicious, especially the foccacia bread and the short rib beef

Really quirky small menu superbly cooked. Formica tables assorted vintage cutlery, and a good tight wine list made this a unique experience. When we arrived and sat down, the floor of the restaurant was vibrating with a deep bass from below. When we asked about it, the volume was turned down. Apparently, it was a sound check for a club night in the basement for later after the restaurant closed.

Highly recommend this gem. Incredible food, very friendly service, very reasonably priced.

I went to the Little Brickhouse for a birthday dinner and it was fab! We had the beef and pork ragu linguine, perello picante olives and burrita. Food was great and I loved the atmosphere with art on the walls and lovely music. Thank you!

Excited to try this restaurant & it was a fabulous experience! A small menu & dishes designed to share - but every one was delicious & tasty. The wine is natural - and the waiter explained that we might find a slight "fizz" to the rosé. Delicious! Good value. Very relaxed but efficient service. A great find & we will definitely be back! What a discovery! Superb little bistro restaurant, chic, trendy with a fabulous menu at sensible prices. The food was wonderful. We shared 5 dishes between 3 of us....the class, the burrata, the chicken schnitzel and 2 portions of the fried spuds (which were a revelation!) Interesting wines, too and good selection of German beers. We will be going back soon..

Small menu with great variety! By design limited veggie options as a result but always tasty regardless and don't feel hard done by at all. All the dishes were great! We shared a few things as a group of 4 for weekday dinner. Really nice vibe and lovely staff✨️

What a gorgeous experience! Food was immaculate, I loved that they were all sharers and came out as they were ready - it meant that as we finished one dish, another beaut arrived. Wine selection was fab and very well priced, I could easily see us coming in just for the wine (although I don't think we'd be able to resist ordering the food). It's cosily lit, music is a vibe, I hope they share their Spotify playlist somewhere. We adored that you're nestled in cosy tables but not too close that you hear other table's conversation. Service was also impeccable too, our waiter was lovely. And a secret highlight is the toilet, who doesn't love a f.f.w.i.h. original on the wall. Can't wait to return ❤️

Booked Little Brickhouse after hearing lots of positive things about it. Though it was an enjoyable evening in a nice relaxed setting it didn’t quite live up to expectations. This is mainly due to the pleasant but generally inattentive service. The menu was limited but interesting and written on a chalk board rather than printed and on tables, presumably due to its frequent changes. All fine of course but good to have had this explained before we had to ask for menus - assuming the chalkboard was for specials and there was more available. The chalkboard’s swirly handwriting was also tricky to read and we weren’t familiar with some of the dishes. Again, better service would’ve been helpful to explain ingredients, make some recommendations etc. As it was we were left to guess and then ask questions when the order was taken. We were told about the sharing style eating set-up but some advice on how many dishes to order, what size they were etc wouldn’t have gone amiss. The restaurant was far from full but again we had to wave to instigate service for further drinks, water etc. In general it would’ve been good to have had staff circulating and being present - they appeared to be behind the scenes at the back for most of the time we were there. Sorting out the service - a vital element of any meal out - would’ve made a huge difference to our experience - and being offered more food and drinks would likely have increased our bill considerably too! I hope Little Brickhouse give this some attention as it would clearly benefit everyone!

Starters were nice, especially the sardines. The melon and ham which was recommended to us was virtually none existing slivers, but tasty. I then regrettably ordered a clam stew with baget for £17. I got 17 clams in a watery overly strong paprika sauce with 3 small pieces of bread, if this had been starter for half the price I would be satisfied, as it was I had to go to go a fast food restaurant after to fill up afterwards. Nice wine. Ultimately a disappointing night. My partner found it hilariously to watch me try and make a meal out of 17 watery clams though, so a night we will always remember. Poor service too, the waiter forgot to serve the bread with the stew. Alarm bells were ringing when he suggested sharing starters but mentioned their portions are small, not a selling point when you have worked up an appetite.

An excellent, friendly vibe helped by a dj. Food is good but limited options. You order food and drink at the bar, which wasn't really convenient due to table locations in the bar area... not sure why it isn't table service as that would work better in the venue.

Waited over 40 minutes for a rare steak while my partner had already been served and finished their meal. Disappointing service however food was good. Was told I wouldn’t have had to wait if I just shared my partners meal…

Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the food, but I wanted to share my review based on the customer service. After driving for over an hour and arriving a few minutes before 1 PM, we asked the waiter if we could still have breakfast. He said yes, so I waited for my husband to park the car for couple of minutes. But when I went to order at the bar, the lady told me they were closing the kitchen for breakfast and switching to the lunch menu (didn’t even bother the ask the kitchen staff actually). It was literally 13:00. It was disappointing because there was nothing on the lunch menu that we wanted, so we had to leave. The place looked nice and the first waiter was friendly, but the whole experience was a letdown. We know it was our fault for coming late, but the café was empty, so we don't understand why they couldn't serve us breakfast. Adding to the frustration, we couldn't even book a table online or find a phone number to call while driving there to ask for a table and confirm that breakfast would be available. When we visit restaurants, what we appreciate most is a friendly 'can do' attitude, rather than strict adherence to menu-switching timings. We were eager to eat and try the food, but unfortunately, we didn't get the opportunity to do so. Overall, it was a bummer, and the lack of booking options and contact information made the experience even more inconvenient. P.S. Instead of addressing and improving the customer service, it is not productive to simply blame it on the customers ☺️ It is important to find ways to move forward and enhance the overall experience. It’s not only about the food! Cheers !

Driving home from a concert, decided to stop here for lunch following Gardian review. Lovely little cafe, staff friendly and warm. Food excellent, we had the beef with it being a Sunday. Service poor although there was only one member of staff front of house at a time. Good value for money. However driving home was checking the bill and realised we were overcharged for a £34 bottle of wine when only 1 glass was ordered and consumed. No telephone, email sent, prompt reply. BUT STILL WAITING FOR REFUND. Has spoilt the experience, very disappointed as German staff had good rapport with my German partner.

Wow, great food. The menu didn’t have a huge range (on a chalkboard, and the staff said it was altered on a regular basis) but everything we ordered was fantastic. Would definitely return again to reorder the same and check out any new dishes.

I came for brunch and had the salmon latkes, which were absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very busy (good to see!) but even as a solo diner I was not made to feel rushed, and all the FOH staff were friendly and attentive. A lovely place.

The interior of the café was truly fantastic, just as it appeared in the pictures. The ambiance was delightful, and I enjoyed the overall aesthetic. The temperature inside was pleasant, creating a comfortable environment for customers especially in this hot summer. The choice of music added to the pleasant atmosphere, providing a soothing backdrop to my visit. The cleanliness of the serving équipements came to my attention. Some of them had apparent stains and odors, which significantly impacted the enjoyment of our beverages. The napkins provided- some thick cloths- were not properly cleaned either, as there were visible dust particles and stinks from former users on them. I must commend the chef for their culinary skills. The food we ordered was delicious, and I enjoyed the flavors immensely. The breakfast menu at this café is a masterpiece of flavors and creativity. Each dish is crafted with a distinct touch that sets it apart from anything easily replicated elsewhere. From the moment you take your first bite, you know you’re in for a treat that can only be savored in this establishment. The issues with inadequate cleanliness of cups and napkins might need a bit of attention. If these areas are improved, it would elevate the overall experience for customers. This place will make me penniless and beggar very soon because ever since I have started eating vegan food here, I crave it every day. My pocket money gets spent here.

Not great on gluten-free, staff were vague & a bit indifferent as was menu board. Pleasant array of flavours in the brunch dishes though few options & could get ‘samey’after a couple of visits Lovely decor. Could be a great place but service a little underwhelming.

We felt that the service was poor from start to finish unfortunately. We had a table booked for 8:15 and didn’t get our mains until 10pm, albeit with an apology from the waiter . No one checked on us after this time and no one asked if we wanted anything else . We had planned to order a pudding but there actually wasn’t anyone to ask for one in the dining room area so we decided to leave without one. Both our table and the table behind us had to approach the bar to ask for the bill because there was no service around at all . Hopefully this was a bad night for them and things aren’t usually like this but we wouldn’t suggest to our friends to visit if they wanted a good experience .

First time eating here, and what a delight it was! We were fortunate to sit in the window seat and soak up the atmosphere. We sampled food from the sharing plates (prawns and curry wurst), before trying the schnitzel. The food was sublime and the service was excellent. Already looking forward to our next visit!

What a fantastic experience. Amazing food, something a little bit different, in the most cosy setting, with great wine and friendly service. What more could you possibly ask for?! I highly recommend ordering one of everything and sharing it all so you get to try a bit of everything. Such a gorgeous selection of flavours and lots of spice!

We came here for the Sunday lunch set-meal, and were so impressed by the lovely atmosphere and superb food. We had burrata to start, with a wonderful fresh bread and Greek yoghurt type dip, then a taco bowl to share, and finally a strudel as well as a beer each. Each dish was absolutely divine with wonderful flavours, and fresh ingredients, as well as generous portions. We would definitely be coming again!

Food was good, and very large portions but...coffees were pitiably small and expensive; only three choices on the Sunday brunch menu. Underwhelmed I'm afraid after going because it was in the Guardian's top 10 Nottingham eateries. Went to 200deg coffee house after and enjoyed more. Sorry

So delicious, some of the nicest food I've had, it actually made me happy. The menu is quite small, so we ended up ordering most of it, I wished we could have ordered the rest, everything was so nice. The service was lovely too, very warm and friendly.

Me and the hubby booked for lunch after reading reviews in the Leftlion. Nice vibe in the bright & colourful little restaurant, friendly service and time to sit and chat over relaxed lunch. Had the all day Prix breakfast which consisted of shakshuka with extras, very tasty, when our order came they apologised as the black pudding was overdone and that they had no more, it all got eaten along with the rest of the lovely food. The chef came to us to also apologise and took the money off the bill. Would heartily recommend Little Bricks and are thinking of booking for an evening, Enjoyed a lovely bottle of Red natural wine also.

The Little Brickhouse was delightful. The atmosphere, the vibe, the food…all excellent. Dishes are fresh and “homemade”, so leave time for chatting, especially if you are headed to the theatre. Will recommend to others as a must visit restaurant in Nottingham!

Delicious, came for brunch with friends, I highly recommend booking beforehand as they get busy! I love how the have a limited menu and it’s constantly changing! We all had the prix eggs, we had the options of adding extras such as bacon, bratwurst, salmon, rosti, etc. The sauces that come on it are amazing, everything goes so well together. Huge portion size so amazing value for money. Staff is great, all really lovely. Highly recommend, will most certainly be going back, hopefully next time to try the dinner!

Excellent brunch at the LBH. Warm friendly service, (despite being a childhood ‘Ammer.) Lovely food, left stuffed to the gills and pretty reasonable for the quality of the experience. Will be returning child free for an evening meal. Thanks LBH.

We had heard a lot about little brick house on social media and decided to visit for a Christmas meal, the food and wine did not disappoint! The waitress was helpful when we were deciding which wine to pick and the food was delicious, highlights from the Christmas menu were the scallops and pork belly.

Myself and my business partner decided to have our christmas meal here on the 23rd, and i can honestly say every aspect was superb. I have visited several times and am blown away by the quality of the food, the value, the wonderful staff and the excellent wine. I cannot wait to come again and my colleague rated it as the best food he had eaten all year! The coquilles san jaques and steak were standouts.

The food was amazing and the staff were really friendly. They have managed to create such a warm and relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy your meal.

This is a little gem of a restaurant recommended to us by friends. We had the festive menu. Our starters and mains were delicious (highly recommend the burrata starter and pork belly main) but the dessert (truffles and biscuits) was ruined by the truffles being bitter and inedible. All 3 of us couldn't eat them as they were laced with salt instead of sugar. When we raised this with the person serving us they said they would feedback to the kitchen but thought it was because they were vegan. Otherwise, the meal would have been a 5*.

We went here for lunch, and were blown away by the food and ambience. Lovely friendly vibe in the dining room. We had Prix eggs with bacon, and goulash. Both were outstanding - cabbage has never tasted so good!. Really recommend s this restaurant, and can't wait to go back for an evening meal.

I have had the pleasure of enjoying Katharina’s amazing food for a number of years now. We attended for dinner “abends” with a group of work colleagues with a wide range of dietary requirements. The food was amazingly varied (with German and Norwegian influences) and of outstanding quality and included schnitzel, oysters, fish and a whole range of other wonderful options. The food was plentiful and could be described as a feast! Our requests were cheerfully catered for by our wonderful host who is always warm and welcoming. The venue is lovely and perfect for a small group. We very often come for brunch also which is wonderful, tasty, and sets you up for the whole day. Would highly recommend this too. Absolutely one of our favourite places to eat in Nottingham.

Amazing food and service. Recently booked with a larger group for dinner after having visited a few times before. Every dish was delicious, generous portion sizes and great wine too. Nice arty boutique atmosphere. Food was good, with limited selection of interesting german inspired dishes. Portion sizes were a bit erratic. Some starters were large, while others were more frugal. Stick to wine or lager as the cocktails were an acquired taste. Service was attentive but rather slow. Would recommend a quirky alternative to the more mainstream restaurants.

I was treated to dinner here by my son last night. It was the first time either of us had been and it certainly won't be the last! Lovely relaxed ambience and exquisite food. The staff were a joy. Attentive without being intrusive and so full of life. I would wholehearted recommend this place for a belly full of comforting food at a very reasonable price.

This is a wonderful restaurant. A focused and well crafted and thought-out menu. The menu changes regularly. The decor feels cozy, stylish and feels like you’re eating in a friends dinning room. Can’t wait to go back.

First time visiting Little brickhouse and what an amazing experience it was, the staff were super friendly and the food was excellent quality. The wine we had was also organic and taste sublime. The menu changes each week so there is always something new to try credit to the staff and the chef for all the hard work. Will be coming back soon
