Delph chippy in Oldham

Not the best and not the worst chippy I've visited.

I'm from wigan and I know a thing or 2 about pies... got a homemade steak pie chips and gravy. Didnt need the gravy it were that good. Best pie I've had in my life. It were that good I went back and got 2 more for tea with the wife later. Served with a smile, left with a smile. 10/10

Sorry to say but I wasn’t happy coming to this chip shop at all . It seemed like a rather nice chippy and staff were suppose to be rather nice according to the reviews and their recommendations. But I dint think it’s was rather great at all . We came to visit delph for whit Friday and dint mind queuing Because we thought it was worth the wait , but sadly finally when we got to the door queued up the prices were really expensive and cover up the original priced list because it’s a special day . Just dint seem right that we went to lees on a whit Friday and they never had the cheeks to do this . We thought because we waited this long we Better Just pay but thinking we were going to get the best quality food . But so disappointed with the food and staff being so rude as well like it’s the huff and puff when I ask for extra Gravy hardly any poured over to be charged extra of these really expensive prices for the gravy and when we had the chippy me my daughter Shared it chips were not cooked properly the gravy tasted like washing up liquid no taste at all and the sausage we had on top was cold we only walked min walk away from chippy as well to eat it . Spent £8 we wanted cheese onion pie for my partner £5 bloody hell buy a full one from the bakery and the portions were tight as well mean to go but I’ll just thought I’ll mention because I feel disappointed sorry 😞. Won’t be coming to this chippy again and I’ve had better and tasted better

Just had lunch the food was awesome especially the home made cheese and onion pie , certainly ly won't need any tea tonight. Will definitely be back.

I travel from Huddersfield just to get a sasauge or 3 and a chip butty love the food, just wish it was open more often I could eat it daily

We were in Delph yesterday, 22nd of December 2022, as I had wanted to try the fish for a long time but wanted my husband with me so he could try the fish too. It was just what I was looking for. The batter was crispy and the fish was divine, it was succulent and juicy, just perfect. This was my favourite part of the meal. My husband feels the same way. If you want fish the way it should be then please go to the Delph Fish and Chip Shop, my husband and I promise that you won't be disappointed, in fact, you will be delighted. Andrew and June Brown.

Always very friendly and decent chippy grub. They do an amazing home made cheese and onion pie and a really good homemade chicken curry.

This as to be the best fish and chip shop i have been to in a long time food was amazing home made pies are something else fish chips are amazing run by father and daughter who are extremely polite always a warm welcome i would recommend this chippy to anyone this should be 5 star plus

We heard and read so much great positive feedback about this place and today we travelled 40 miles to try one of the infamous cheese and onion pie and chicken curry …. Well we wasn’t disappointed!! … fantastic food and service.

Love the food BUT Mary's daughter is stuck up and has a very non customer service attitude and speaks with a tone shes a miserable person andnwears way way way too much makeup

Stopped here on our way back to Denshaw and glad we did. We ordered 2 x Fish & chips and buttered barn cake (bap) and as it was lunch time the lovely lady asked if we'd mind waiting on an outside table (Covid precaution). As we were waiting she popped out and asked if we wanted a cup of tea while waiting, we said yes. The teas came, the food came (lovely fish, crispy chips, gorgeous). On entering to pay the bill we were told the tea was free so an extra bonus. Friendly owner, great food and cheap.

I couldn't recommend this chippy highly enough,simply perfect food

This chippy is world class, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the portion sizes are great and the food is amazing, I would recommend the homemade cheese and onion pie and the chicken curry.

Great chips and curry sauce mmmmm...only gave 4 stars because I only had curry and chips! However my daughter says I should always give small Independents 5 stars unless there is something that's wrong with the products or service. Soooooo next time I'm in Delph I'll go to the Coop and get a butty!

Just finished our chippy tea. Fish and peas,homemade cheese and onion pie and peas and a portion of chips. All absolutely gorgeous. The food here is heavenly, proper feel good food. Highly recommended.

Visited today just before lunch closing - disappointed as their legendary home made cheese and onion pie was sold out but ordered chips and Meat and potato pie anyway - they didn’t have enough chips for 3 portions ? so made do with 2 and (a half portion ) for my granddaughter! Horrified to find my granddaughter’s chips 😡seemed to have a small part of their metal ‘chip drainer’ in her portion of chips - shop was now closed so couldn’t report our findings - chip shop must know part of their utensil was missing! Unfortunately today was not there usual standard of service!

Wondeful fish and chips, friendly service, generous portions, great home made extras like cheese and onion pie, mushy peas, shepherd's pie, chicken curry.. And it's been like that for years. Father and daughter team, nothing fancy, no unexpected menu changes or massive price hikes. Everything that a traditional fish and chip shop should be. Thank you Delph Chippy! We love you.

Stopped off here this week. Best chippy I think I’ve ever had. The chicken curry with half rice and half chips is an absolute must!

I see myself as a bit of a fish and chip connoisseur, and let me tell you, my socks are nothing short of knocked off after my visit here. Light, crispy batter, wonderfully chunky fish and soft, fluffy chips covered in lashings of salt and vinegar - the perfect way to refuel after a trek up to Chew Reservoir.

just at the halfway point of our hike from upper castleshaw res....feeling very hungry...we were rely surprised at the quality and size of the portions....we were on holiday from british columbia and even though we live in a seaside town famous for fish and chips,this little place was by far and away the best place...thanks

This is the best chippy in saddleworth, staff are polite and friendly and they do the best home made cheese and onion pie.

Chips all bits and scraps and very leathery. Will drive the extra distance to Diggle chippy next time.

We absolutely love this chippy. The very , very best fish and chips. Our favourite chippy. Lots of homemade pies etc. The usual Holland's pies and puddings. The staff are really welcoming and friendly.

Very nice people, friendly. They gave us free vinegar and tartar sauce which was nice. They gave us forks aswell. Food was really nice. Definitely worth the extra mile that we went. Prices are good too.

Come to this place every time we are passing through Delph, chips fish and pies are always fresh and cooked to perfection! Mary ,Graham and grace are lovely and always accommodate when we have younger kids with us . The fish is amazing, batter is light and crisp...yummy

Decent enough, but not as good as Diggle. Fine for Whit Friday though.

Absolutely gorgeous cheese and onion pie, chips and mushy peas! Best pie I've ever tasted! Staff friendly and jovial - very helpful keeping some pie for us to eat after a pint in white lion! We even had to take a piece home for our next door neighbour! Sitting outside at the tables in the pleasant evening sunshine. What a wonderful thing to do on a Friday evening bike ride - a delightful 16 mile round trip.

This place is superb. Home made food, freshly fried fish and always a queue. Service is quick and efficient and the prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit

This is how chippys used to be, no frozen chips or kebabs. good homemade pies and superb fish, friendly staff and reasonable prices. the building is over three hundred years old and is in a small picturesque village in saddleworth.

I would rate this as the best chippy I have been to. They do traditional chip and fish but they also serve some lovely home cooked meals from lasagne to chicken curry, absolutely fab and a great way to get a home cooked meal as a takeaway when you just can't be bothered to cook.

Go for the chicken curry half chips , half rice it is delicious. Drove 20 minutes yesterday just to have this. Nice traditional chippy , with two tables outside where you can sit down and eat. Highly recommendded. 25 Mar 2012
