Me and my friend came here after a meal to get a drink. On first entering we noticed it was mainly older gentlemen which we didn't mind as we wanted to be left alone.
I asked at the bar if they had fruity cider - the bar lady said they didn't. My friend pointed out that they had kopparberg on display and the woman said they didn't have any.
We decided to have au and the woman then told us they didn't have the one we wanted so we chose a different flavour. She gave us one can of lemonade for our two drinks which is pretty weird.
I wouldn't return here as I feel like it's more of a locals/regulars pub and it didn't feel very welcoming.
We quickly finished our drinks and left.
Popped in for lunch recently and we were very impressed. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the cafe looks lovely and is very clean, and the food was amazing! Really pleased we found this place, we will definitely be back!

A similar theme to a 1950s American Diner in the furniture Citrone’s has. A place where you can sit with your friends and family and bond over the week you’ve had over coffee and some good food.
The place is full of life, you can feel it and see it when you walk in the door. The service is brilliant, everyone is welcoming and warm when you approach the counter.
The food is the best I’ve had in a very long time and it’s a big reason I come back at least 3 times a month. All their food is cook to order and it doesn’t take long to cook either, it’s fresh and hot always when you pick it up. Which makes it one of the best places in Chester-Le-Street just for that reason alone; however the other reasons such as the ones mentioned above make it THE best place in area. Great food, great atmosphere and great overall experience. If you were interested in going here, do it. You won’t regret it.
The only remaining pub in Luddenden, the Lord Nelson ("the Nelly" to locals) is one of the best and friendliest pubs I've ever been to. The regulars can be a little noisy from time to time and the "banter" a little brisk but, as a gay couple, we were welcomed into the village in the kindest and warmest way by everyone. We love it here and consider ourselves regulars now. Mondays and Fridays are usually the busiest nights, with good beer and a wide range of other drinks. Visitors to Luddenden should note that the pub no longer does food, apart from the usual range of bar snacks. I can heartily recommend the Nelly - the bar staff and locals are just wonderful!
What a spot - we found hope at the Hope cafe. Warm welcoming and friendly, breakfast to fill your boots and apple pie with a smile to top it all off. Thank you !!
Food was decent. Not too bad price wise. Fish was a good size for the special. Some unique clientele in the shop during my visit (to be polite). Staff were nice. Also the place takes card.
