Absolutely wonderful food and plenty of it. Had the salmon and chicken supreme. I wanted to try the Teriyaki; however due to pending permanent closure it wasn’t available. Lovely friendly waitress, great service! It is such a huge shame the council is closing this restaurant as it is one of the few upmarket restaurants in the area. I only found out about it after reading a press release regarding the closure. Perhaps with more publicity the restaurant would have had more success and stayed open.
Family run Cafe with good quality food and a great welcome. Nice variety of food. I go for the omelette, shish Kebab, salt beet bagel or all day breakfast!
What a wonderful pub, Susan and her husband Graeme were so accommodating. The food was so delicious. 2 of our party had diet issues and Susan went out of the way to look after them.
Susan made me one of the best Bloody Mary's I have drunk for a long time. Thank you so much.
I live in Harrogate and this is the first visit I have paid TomSlingsby’s. I visited with my daughter today (31st of January 2025) for breakfast.
I ordered a full English breakfast whilst my daughter ordered porridge with honey and we shared tea for two. May I say that the service was absolutely first class, as we were greeted by a very pleasant lady, who was the front of house and took the orders.
The the café was quite busy however we found a seat in a warm corner, on a cold day.
Our breakfast was serve fairly quickly by the chef who was very attentive and made sure that we were taken care of.
My full English breakfast was the best I have tasted in years and certainly the best breakfast I have ever eaten in Harrogate. I thoroughly recommend this café to visitors, especially those staying at the Travelodge on Tower Street, as the cafe is opposite and quite unassuming from the outside. It is located down a side street (Tower Street behind the Coach & Horses Pub on West Park) the main road entering Harrogate by the Stray open parkland.
The breakfast served looked absolutely fabulous and tasted even better than it looked (very delicious) as all the produce is locally sourced. The bacon and sausages were very tasty and served with egg, beans, mushroom hash brown and 4 halves of toast.
I will certainly be returning to Slingsby’s for a thoroughly enjoyable breakfast, well done to the staff.
We have visited this Hotel a number of times when in the area & visiting the Highlands, and it never disappoints. The vista is incredible, on the banks of Loch Shiel overlooking the beauty of Glenfinnan Viaduct & surrounding area.
The history exudes through every stone of this beautiful, historic hotel & from the hotel grounds, to its interior, the decor is complementary, beautiful & very charming.
Visiting out of season, the hotel is nicely quiet, with friendly & attentive staff, offering excellent service. On this occasion we only visited for drinks, & a bowl of handcut, thick chips, but knowing from previous visits, food is good.
In season the dinning & seating areas can get busy, so it is good to book ahead.

Ordered mixed doner which was mostly lamb doner meat. Salad ok size ok. Meat tasteless both chicken and lamb.
I got a chicken shish which most Turkish shops have a certain marinade on there meats which is flavourful. The meat again was bland no flavour. I could have made a more tasty meat at home. So a bit dissapointed. Need to work on their marinade and flavour.
Good morning All, this is the reply in response to Eleanor to completely slated this establishment where I have been coming for many years, and I think your comments are quite frankly ridiculous and unjustified get a grip. This is not Battersea dogs home. It is a food establishment and you would’ve been more than welcome to sit in the outside area with heaters with your dog. I have my own Collie who sits in my Land Rover is quite frankly in my opinion motocross do not want to be in this environment. This is Something I feel very strongly about, it’s called anthropomorphist sizing. I am an animal trainer and in most instances I see animals, quite distressed as they simply do not want to be in this environment. Also the main restaurant would’ve been far too warm for your animal. I’m glad I wasn’t here that day when you were here. Claire
We called in today at 3ish. Too late for lunch, so we had a scone, a piece of cake with coffee each. Best scones we have ever had and the cakes are to die for.
The staff were really friendly, cant wait to go again.
