Ignore the negative reviews! Honestly some people just enjoy to moan. This is THE MOST AMAZING local pub you will find. Ran by an incredible family who put their heart and soul into their business. Food is incredible, amazing presentation, full of flavour... the chef is so talented! The food is freshly cooked so some menu choices can take longer but are so worth the wait! So proud to have this in the village. Hands down the best pub you will find!

Went with family for a pre Christmas meal. Had the festive menu. The food was OK and presented well but lacked great flavour. Expected more for the price we paid.

We dined here today as it was a recommendation. Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed . After waiting an hour , the food was luk warm . At the end of the main - I was asked if everything was ok ? I politely informed them of this and asked for it to be reported back to the kitchen . One member of staff clearly didn’t want to be there and was extremely rude . This is such a shame ! Clearly a few things need to be highlighted as these are other peoples views too that have previously dined . Would I recommend this place ….. No unfortunately!

A great find, Splendid food with generous portions. Extensive menu with tempting specials. Will be back. Unfortunately did go back with family a few months later on a Saturday night. couldn't have been a more different experience. Waiting time for food was outrageous. Food was a shocking standard for the price, at no time were we asked how our food was by serving staff. make no mistake this establishment was not full and more than enough staff were working. I have no clue how a place can be so different on a second visit. worse of all was the fact we had family members from out of town with us, it was embarrassing. We had a large table in the restaurant for a family birthday; the food, service and atmosphere were perfect. Food was delicious - some guests commenting on the beef being the “best they had ever had!” Praise indeed! Even though we were a large group the food came out piping hot and all together. Large servings and friendly, attentive service. Glasses were never empty - would recommend thank you

We had a fantastic experience on Saturday 2nd of November it was my daughters 18th birthday the service and food was excellent thank you everyone envolved .Will definitely be using this pub again .

Attended the pub for my 18th birthday on the 2nd of November was the best experience ever, food was to die for no complaints everyone stated how perfect the food was cooked and don’t even get me started on the service it was prompt and very attentive as soon as we needed more drinks their was a waitress ready to take our orders. So thank you so much The Bell and their team for making my Birthday experience the best it could possibly be xx

Went here for a meal on 2/11/24 with my family. Our main meal arrived an hour and a half after we arrived. Our starters arrived after 40mins. They were not busy. There was no explanation for the delays. The food that was ordered was overcooked, or luke warm. One of the staff was extremely rude. If I had the option , I would give a zero mark. A complete waste of money and our time.

This has to be the worst experience we had in this pub. Service was shocking, one waitress was so rude. We waited over 90 minutes for our main meals, which were dried, Luke warm and very disappointing. There was no manager around to discuss our concerns. The bill was over £120, and it was a disaster.

This was a very disappointing meal. We had to wait 1 and a half hours for a main meal and it wasn’t busy. Pate was bland, toast wasn’t toasted enough, no butter and no care given to the dish. Specials - fish was cooked too much and was dry. Tikka masala wasn’t a tikka masala, more like a stew. Nobody finished our meal Won’t be revisiting

Great little pub, dining area is quite bright, vegetarian options are limited. But the staff and food all very nice. Will definately be back

We went to the Caribbean night last weekend - absolutely brilliant! Food was fantastic, rum punch was delicious, and the atmosphere was totally tropical. We love this pub anyway, and this event was so much fun!

I went with my wife to a Rotary social evening. The food was delicious and fairly priced and served by friendly staff. I will definitely go again.

A group of us met at The Bell for a catch up and a one course meal. I had the Lasagne and it was one of the best I have ever tasted. Good service and friendly atmosphere.

Would highly recommend this lovely pub that we chose for our anniversary meal. A warm welcome from the staff when we walked in, taking our drinks order straight away, they continued to be friendly and the service was excellent. The menu is lovely and varied with a great range of specials on the board, our meals were delicious and beautifully presented.

Spectacular Sunday lunch. They make their own gravy and beef and lamb are served pink. Trimmings are delicious as well! Had the crumble for dessert. It was very nice. I think the custard came out of a package. Which is still nice, just a bit unexpected because of the otherwise extremely high quality.

Probably the best pub meal i have ever tasted. The lamb was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The flavours and textures worked so well. Also excellent value for money.

Nice lunchtime meals with plenty of choice.

My partner and two friends popped in The Bell for supper a short time ago. The food was excellent; well presented, decent portions and at very fair price point. The standout dish was the chicken supreme but all were very good. They do table service for drinks which is nice and the staff were helpful and smiley. Great coffee too along with Timothy Taylor Landlord bitter on draught. Result Warmly recommended.

Ordered half a Guinness, advised they needed to change the barrel, absolutely fine. After a short wait, the lovely staff told me they were out of Guinness, replaced it with a larger. Would have expected this to be either cheaper or on the house, but neither option was offered.

We went to The Bell to celebrate my 80th birthday. We had an excellent evening, the food was fantastic, and the service was first class. All held in very amiable surroundings. Thank you very much, see you again soon!

We visited The Bell, in Burton Overy for my dad’s birthday, the atmosphere was brilliant, the staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional with a variety of choice on the menu, which was great value for money in terms of portion size and quality. Our overall experience was phenomenal and we will definitely return. If you are looking for a perfect place to eat or have a drink The Bell is definitely a brilliant choice.

Well done to the young guy (one of the chefs I believe?) for doing CPR for 15(!!) minutes and saving somebody’s life! You actually are a hero, get this man a pay rise! Great job lad 👏👏👏

Big shout out to one of the chefs who performed CPR on a customer for 15 or so minutes; I've got no doubt that this saved the customers life. I'm sure that the landlady will agree that he's a credit to the establishment and deserves a pay rise for his heroic actions

A delightfully cosy traditional country pub where very friendly and helpful staff serve utterly scrumptious food at reasonable prices. The taps are decent, too. We had a fish pie and a chicken pie, both of which were delicious, as were the accompaniments. Highly recommended! Have been back since and enjoyed it just as much. Truly delicious food.

My first time visiting after so many recommendations and i wasn't disappointed, had an amazing sunday dinner in the barn by the fire, the cauliflower and broccoli cheese was to die for, i will definitely be back very soon.

First visit, for Sunday lunch. Seems a very popular village pub All of us were impressed with quality and size of our roasts ( no need to pay extra for side veg if not a necesity), My crumble dessert was lovely, but my wifes sticky toffee pudding a bit heavy. Friendly service, good value, dog friendly. Small car park but street parking too

When you are in a large party and you go out to a small country pub off the beat and narrow. You start thinking. The Bell at Burton Overy is a lovely little pub which I amazes serves up great food to the locals who expect a certain standard of food. The few locals who were in amongst a fairly loud group were very friendly. Now the food was very tasty the portion was right I could have wanted more but that would be greedy. A quiet drink with lovely food and not too expensive is worth a trip out. The Bell at Burton Overy is worth a visit.

It was a very busy week night near Christmas. It was very noisy and difficult to hear each other talk across the table. The soup was lovely but sadly the vegetarian nut 'loaf' was very poor, carrots and parsnips over cooked the roast potatoes were good. We didn't try a desert

Lovely village pub with very good food

Went here for a little date night with my better half. Never been here before but was really pleased she chose it! Lovely welcome from the ladies behind the bar into a beautiful seating area, a really old pub feel with a fireplace. We ordered what turned out to be a huge plate of bread and plenty of olives, great start. Mains we had beef blade, incredibly well cooked, mushrooms and sauce were perfect. Other main was gammon and proper chunky chips, looked very nice with an egg and pineapple. Peas were a little anemic but that can happen. Can't believe I'm even commenting on the peas! Good selection of beers and soft drinks. Specials board though we didn't have them. Service was great and friendly, menu was nice and small so you know it's going to be good food. Just go try it out. The car park is to the rear of the building, you will drive past the road first time, be aware! You won't be disappointed!

Food was not great. Menu looked promising, but the temperature & flavours were not there. Greasy pizza and Gyros were bland. Staff were ok. All in all, ok I guess, but would not return. Attended 26th August around 1/1.30pm, table for 4. X 2 chicken Gyros, x 1 lamb Gyros and x 1 pizza. Thank You

My friend was visiting and likes to choose from the great choice of local pubs in my area . This week she chose The Bell Inn & having heard it was great I knew we wouldn’t be disappointed . I personally hadn’t been here since moving from the burton overy to one of the surrounding villages or since the new owners had taken over . The Sunday roast didn’t disappoint. It was lovely . The gravy was something else , so tasty . The Yorkies were perfect . The veggies cooked just right . The chicken juicy and not dry . We only had ice cream and sorbet for desert as we were to full from such a lovely dinner .

Such friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and wonderful food 😋 We booked a table for 7pm and the place was fairly busy for the entire time we were there showing how popular it is. We had starters, then my friend had the beef and I had the chef's special, beef and ale pie. Both of us were really impressed with the melt in the mouth meat, the generous amount of beautifully cooked vegetables, rich tasty gravy and the beautiful presentation. The portions were so big we couldn't finish it all, which was a shame because everything was delicious! We were then amazed by the prices, really good value for such a delicious and beautifully cooked meal. We'll definitely be back and we're really glad we found this lovely pub!

Was out for a Family meal, we all enjoyed, they have an excellent chef 👍🏻👍🏻. Definitely recommend, would be hard to find better.

I had booked a table so me and my partner could try there new gyros only to be told that they are only available on the lunch time menu. In the meantime we ordered tapas instead which was really nice and on the off chance I checked on just eat to see if I could order a gyro even though I was told it was a lunch item. The order went through and I collected it on my way out (which was awkward) Collected them and the chicken and wrap itself were very dry and the taste was a bit bland

We come here for sunday lunch easily the best sunday lunch i been out for i live in Newcastle and i would happily drive 3 and half hours agine for that sunday lunch i had the beef some of my friends had the trio the amount of meat u get is amazing my beef melted in my mouth a nice variety of vegetables the gravey was delicious ! And the staff were lovely and friendly perfect afternoon.

Really nice venue, we went for an evening meal and on the back of that, we also booked the Barn room for a function. On both occasions, we found the team were really friendly and attentive. The food is excellent. Thank you for looking after us.

Great food and service every time! One of my favourite places to eat; I've had pretty much everything on the menu so far and none of it has disappointed.

Went for Sunday lunch yesterday. 4 people. The food was excellent, couldn't fault it but had a wait for it. We then ordered 4 sweets but only 3 arrived and the waitress had to be reminded of what we ordered. Following on we ordered tea and coffee's which never arrived and we once again had To get the waitresses attention to re-order. On going to pay they wanted to charge us about an extra £25 as a tip which we refused but offered £15 which we considered more than enough considering the poor service On asking for a credit card receipt were told they couldn't give us one, no explanation why. As previously stated the food was delicious but service left a lot to be desired.

The pub was very short staffed today so service was poor and lengthy. The calamari starter was very disappointing and over priced. Having said that the 3 roast main course was very good

Came with brother, Mum & Dad. What a fantastic find! The service was so friendly, and the food... fantastic! We had duck, fish pie, steak and pork belly between us, beautifully presented, hot and delicious.

Great place cosy good food, had the chefs special was ridiculous 😋 and even got a doggy bag to take home n eat again!!

Had another great evening on Friday. There were eight of us in the group and everyone agreed that the food was excellent and good value. The service was very attentive and a great evening was had by all. The Bell Inn is a little hidden gem that's tucked away but should be on your list to sample its great food and hospitality. Five stars all the way. 😀

Came for Sunday lunch. Lots of different options available for those that didn't fancy the roast. Food was good quality and came in good timing. Staff were friendly and dog friendly which was perfect.

Sunday lunch was average at best. Lamb was disappointingly fatty but turkey was fine. Luke warm, weak coffees. Lack lustre service.

Hosted a Wake for us on 4th July. Can't recommend it highly enough, brilliant room, brilliant staff, tremendous food. Made a difficult day so much easier. Thank you. Also had a meal here a couple of weeks previous which was also first class.

Thank you Sally who served us two weeks ago (sorry for late review!) on our days off. Pimm's pitcher was great and the food was beaut. Deffo will be back, such lovely service too and very cute pub!
