We stayed in a holiday rental in Cornworthy and needed dinner on arrival after a long drive from East Sussex. We walked to the Hunters Lodge inn in hope of dinner, and boy what a find! Lovely food, reasonably priced and the staff treated us not as tourists but as if they knew us from the moment we walked in! We just had to go back the next evening, which happened to be New Year’s Eve. We were yet again welcomed in as part of the village, and celebrated with staff and locals in front of a warm fire, with great nibbles and drinks! A proper pub! Make sure you visit!!

I don’t think we have ever had such a fantastic welcome from any place we have stayed. The team are amazing as is the food. The ingredients were high quality cooked with love and skill. The rooms were clean and comfortable with no sound from pub below. The pub is set in a beautiful quiet Devon village, close to the river Dart and the lovely towns of Totnes and Dartmouth. Thank you Graham, Sue and Laura, we couldn’t recommend this pub enough!

A last minute decision on a monday night found us at this gem of a pub. Excellent food and very friendly hosts . We enjoyed the special menu items..the Lamb Kofte starter was superb, and the hanging kebabs were accompanied by the best chips we can remember. Strongly recommend a visit here. Excellently kept ales, but also try the white Rioja!

Booked last minute. Slightly concerned we could be fitted in so readily, surprisingly unbusy. Warmly welcomed, we had chicken pies and Sunday lunch, beef. Warmed plates, two generous slices of perfectly cooked beef, two roasties, yorkshire puds, mash and plenty of well presently veg. A huge boat of tasty gravy and another separate one for the chicken pies, which were also delicious. We had nothing to worry about, got lucky finding this pub. Excellent. Felt a little less pressurised into desserts, which we declined. A dessert board would be good, not everyone can afford, feels like or can fit one in. I'm sure they would have been equally delicious though. Would definitely recommend this pub. A friendly village pub atmosphere, great food, reasonably priced and nice landlord.

Visited for here an evening meal. I had the seafood hanging kebab. The tuna and monkfish were beautifully cooked. It can be easy to overcook monkfish but this was lovely and tender. The decor was modern but had a warmth and charm that sometimes gets lost when an pub is updated. The prices were reasonable compared to what you can pay in Dartmouth. I would highly recommend a visit here.

Had a fabulous stay at the Hunters Lodge Inn. Graham and Sue are exceptional hosts; welcoming, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast and dinner was excellent, everything Sue and their son cooked was fantastic. The rooms were of a very good size, spotlessly clean and well decorated. There was lots of lovely little touches in the rooms, such as chocolate and a eco friendly make up remover, The beds and bathrooms were beautifully equipped. We would thoroughly recommend the Hunters Lodge and will definitely return.

Without doubt the best place we have stayed in Devon! Located in a pretty little rural village between Totnes and Dartmouth, The Hunters Inn is also a short drive to the beautiful Blackpool Sands and if you like walking there are plenty of local routes. We walked to Totnes and back one day along the river and it was just fabulous. Grahame and Sue’s hospitality is second to none. Sue’s home made food is just lovely and we ate in the pub every night because it was so good! The locals are so welcoming we really didn’t want to leave. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the beds are super comfy. There was only one problem….we had to come home 😔 Thank you to Graham, Sue, Orion, Laura and Sam for making our break so special x

An absolute gem, very clean tidy and fresh bar area. We ate here 2 nights (didn't stay) and had a fabulous experience. The hanging kebabs are to die for and all of the food and service was excellent, both on a busy Saturday night and a quiet Monday evening. Name check to Laura and Katy who looked after us on the Saturday and despite being super busy took time to offer us knowledge of the local area and were great fun. Graham and Sue - thank you very much, I'm sure we'll be back in the future!

Called here on Wednesday 27th November after placing flowers on the grave of a much loved, recently departed, lady. It was 11.34am and the sign outside stated the pub was open at 11.30am. As I went to go in the door, with my son John, we were barred by a man who I now realise was the landlord. He said they weren't open, or even ready, and that they were now operating on winter opening hours but they hadn't got round to changing the times on the board outside. We were freezing cold and damp and it would have been nice if the landlord had said that as they hadn't changed the board times we were welcome to go inside and get warm and that they would serve us as soon as they were ready. We used to live in Cornworthy and both my son and I, and my daughter for that matter, worked at this pub for many years for Rob and Deb and Gill and John. They would never have turned away potential customers in this way. I don't live in Devon any more, my son does, and I was so looking forward to entering the pub again and seeing the various changes that apparently have been made. Instead we were made to feel thoroughly unwelcome with no chance to eventually sample the menu that people seem to be raving about. Not a nice way to treat people. I'm very upset and disappointed.

Although we got takeaway, we had a drink whilst we waited... friendly locals and the atmosphere was a delight. The meal didn’t disappoint either- meaty fish and the chips, thick and delicious. Next time we visit we will definitely return here.

The “Thirsty Thursdays” Came across The Hunters Lodge Inn via trip advisor. The welcome was lovely. The staff very friendly and it was very busy with people eating. Nice wine, good beer and a great menu. Portions were very generous and could have shared the nachos starter. All mains served on hot plates and 4 different steaks all out as ordered. T-bone, rump, sirloin and venison. Sold out of Wild Boar steak so have to go back again! Too full for desserts ! Highly recommended.

Had a lovely one night stay as a couple. The new owners are friendly and very helpful. Was able to return late after a special occasion and let ourselves in. Excellent breakfast (full English) the following day. Highly recommend if you are looking for a top Bnb near Totnes to stay in.

Visited the Hunters Lodge Inn for tea & enjoyed a decent home cooked meal with “proper” chips!! Served with a lovely cider, Bounders which at 5.5% softened your view of the world. I know this village pub has recently reopened after being closed for a period time, so needs to be supported & enjoyed!!

Dropped into this pub, unplanned. Felt very welcome, and were delighted to be served absolutely delicious gluten-free fish and chips with home-made tartar sauce! Great value too. And in the middle of lovely Devon countryside with a circular walk along the River Dart.

My partner and I travel down to Dartmouth for business every so often and stumbled across the Hungers Lodge Inn online. Having stayed at other places across Dartmouth I can honestly say this is the best place we have been to - and we will definitely be back again. From the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left we were made to feel at home. The owners are absolutely lovely and filled to the brim with Northern charm! The pub itself was filled with chatty locals and lots of cute dogs, which is always a plus! We had a two course meal and the food was absolutely delicious - hats off to Sue in the kitchen you were amazing.

Stayed here for one night lovely little pub rooms very nice and cosy unfortunately couldn’t watch tv as there wasn’t a remote and couldn’t use the shower as the button was missing of it which definitely would of been noticed on cleaning … the carpet in stairs were quite dirty and the people I didn’t find very welcoming sadly

Christmas lunch for 12 of us. Pre ordered from a balanced and varied seasonal menu that included fish and vegetarian options. Excellent value and we were very well looked after. Exceptional selection of well cooked Vegetables, recipe for the red cabbage please . Some of us were disappointed that we didn't have room for a desert ! This is a family owned proper pub with helpful competent staff. Parking right opposite but payment by card challenged some of us oldies.

Limited opening times, No food so asked out of curtesy if grandson could eat a snack. Was told no but to eat outside in the garden which had a closed sign on the gate, so had eat in the smoking area. Didn't feel particularly welcome. No alternative snack was offered. Wasn't very accommodating, we were staying local and would have returned for a meal but they said closed Monday and Tuesday and we would need to book if wanted to return. I would advise anyone to give this pub a a miss as there are much better pubs in the area
