it'sIgetting harder to find good quality food with good service and a reasonable price so this place is a real find. First it has a great location - right on a small inlet of the river with the sunset on the water ahead and views of the village and hilltops all around. The outdoor area is well heated and sheltered. Next the service - very helpful staff who know their menu. Although the place was clearly very busy there was no feeling of being rushed to vacate the table and no long waits for food. Finally the menu - not the largest selection, but the food offered was the best we've had in ages. The crab linguine and Thai chicken curry are highly recommended. And the desserts - wow! Often UK pub desserts are a disappointment - microwaved supermarket cakes, but in this case the portions are huge and the quality is amazing. The cheesecake is massive and full of flavour. We would definitely recommend this for eating. Judging by the need to book tables on weekday nights, lots of other people recommend it too.

Popular little pub, sitting on the estuary. We booked a table for an evening meal, the bar was bustling and very lively. We had a nice table near the fire and were pleasantly surprised by the fresh and tasty food we were served. I had a lovely starter of crab arancini, followed by a monkfish and prawn curry. Both were nicely seasoned, well presented and tasted good. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food though there was a little disappointment at the sticky toffee pudding, which was a little flat and stodgy. All in all a nice pub with good food and friendly service.

The location is great and we've eaten well here before, but this meal was disappointing. Perhaps because it was late-ish on a Saturday evening and supplies were a bit depleted? The fish and chips were modest, with very basic (frozen?) chips. The cod loin: the cod itself was good, but accompanied by half a plate of basic sides (think cold, lumpy couscous).

We have been staying in beautiful Noss Mayo for 4 years and always enjoy our visits to the Swan. Whether we are eating or just having a drink the service and quality is fantastic, and we are made to feel very welcome. The food menu is really interesting, with something for everyone - the blackened cod is a particular favourite of ours and is always beautifully cooked. There seeems to be a good mix of locals, blow ins and holiday makers which gives the pub a really lovely atmosphere- and the view from the outside decking area (which is covered to allow for the British weather) or the quay is the icing on the cake . If you are not within walking distance of the pub parking might be interesting in the summer, and I would definitely recommend booking a table if you want food. Star of the show is Harry the black labrador who adds to the charm of the Swan and is such a lovely gentle character, greeting all 'his' guests with a friendly wag of his tail before going for a dip in the creek.

I'm allergic to sulphites and James, owner and chef, adapted his fish stew for me - it was exceptional and this was a rare occasion when I did not have food envy looking at my partner's plate, mine was every bit as good as his. We’d spent the afternoon in Noss Mayo - a great little place.5pm and it was time for a beer and something to eat. There’s not a lot of 5pm.With Truffle the chocolate lab and Mrs Mac being a wheelchair-user, I checked the gaff myself. I explained my “predicament “ to be told that it wouldn’t be an issue.I forget to check access for the wheelchair to the ladies loo.Bit of an oversight given the age/layout of the building. However, the loos are wheelchair accessible with a strong and willing helper. The landlord very kindly offered a hand as there were three shallow steps to negotiate then another into the ladies loo. I managed to negotiate the steps fairly easily but help IS at hand if you need it.The pub has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Landlord/landlady couldn’t have been more genuinely welcoming and the seafood was exceptional. Service by younger members of staff was exemplary and nothing was too much trouble.Luckily there were a few local sea dogs in for a drink so a good atmosphere and banter ensued. There’s a concrete causeway at the foot of the steps taking you to the opposite bank of the creek but be very wary of tide times. We’ve been lifelong fans of Portscatho and The Roseland Peninsula, but I fear that Noss Mayo has wormed it’s way into our hearts.Great pub.....just leave your airs and graces at the door. The owners have two lovely young lads who obviously have a whale of a time in the area outside the pub. I’d love to have been brought up in Noss Mayo. My idea of an idyllic childhood...messing about in the creek. Love it.

Stopped off at The Swan on our way back from a week in Polperro because we love it so much. It was great to receive a warm welcome from James, Amy and their team who all make you feel so welcome. Had a superb lunch as usual and pleased the zucchini fritters are still on the menu!

Ok so this isn't the pub I remember from my student days in 81 with Norman pouring pints of courage best from the counter but this is still an excellent place. It's a lot more middle class than I remember but then so am I. How can you fault it? The food and venue are superb.

We visited The Swan a few times as we were staying nearby and it was only a short walk away. On Sunday afternoon they offer live music which we enjoyed sitting on the quay with a drink. It is obviously a popular event as it was busy. We had great fun at The Quiz held on Tuesday evenings with the advantage of a mobile Thai Kitchen set up on their terrace offering freshly cooked noodles/ curry/ spring rolls etc. It is served in boxes which you can take into the bar/ restaurant. What a brilliant idea! We also had two dinners there, they have a good menu including perfectly cooked fish and juicy steaks, try the fish stew, it is amazing. James is a great chef, which is why this little gem of a pub is always bustling. This week I understand they are offering breakfast with World Cup Rugby, this should prove to be a winner!

Found this lovely pub right on the seafront. Lovely and sunny so sat outside for lunch at the wooden benches with a river view. Dog was with us, but was also allowed in restaurant area. We only chose a couple of baguettes, but they were so full of stuff that we didn't need much in the evening. Pity we didn't find this sooner in our week away, would have been there for an evening for sure. Very interesting, varied menu. Very pleasant, efficient and helpful staff. Plenty of parking when the tide is out...!
