Brought a chippy from here. Food was stale and cold and fish was undercooked . Service was rubbish as I asked for salt and vinegar and when they didn’t put it on I asked for it but the woman rolled her eyes and ignored me. Worst chippy on the high street if you’re looking to waste your money on rubbish food this is the perfect place for you.

This is by far the best chippy we have had in a good while. Lovely white fish and crispy batter, none of that undercooked batter underneath that I have experienced at other places. Highly recommended the best in Brownhills!

It's fairly cheap and the chips are the best I've ever seen. The staff are so hard working and a pleasure to see weekend after weekend.

Disgusting portion sizes and outrageous prices. Paid £25.70 for a large fish an chips with curry sauce and a large chicken meat with chips. Ordered two large bags of chips, and both of them put together was barely a cone. Fish was sogy and undercooked to the point it was rubbery in the middle. Wait time was quoted 5-7 minutes and we were stood for nearly 20. Won't be returning.

First time trying this chip shop because before today we had no idea there was a chip shop local that serves gluten free chippy! The food was amazing and I can honestly say it tastes incredible. I was worried about cross contamination but when you visit the chip shop you will see they have catered well for those with celiac disease. The service was also brilliant, thank you and we will definitely be visiting again.

What can I say I had heard mixed opinions on here, but thought I'd try so phoned up for delivery 🚘 as don't drive was told be around half hour but arrive bang on 20mins after placing order which I was happy with wasn't a long wait at all. The food was red hot when arrived delivery lady was polite. We ordered a mixed Kebab meat chips♨️ which was nicest meat I had in years the chips was nice fluffy with crispy batter delicious 😋. And pie which was red hot ♨️ so tasty filled up with meat. So thankyou 😘 very much really enjoyed it would definitely order it again 👌. The tray of meat & chips was big enough to share with hubby as was massive a good potion of meat wasn't just loaded with chips like other chippy's loads chips left due portion side but no meat left was yummy. Reasonable pricing too 👍... 100% recommend to family & friends will return. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 From me & hubby 👏

Cold chips, and I mean stone cold!! Large curry sauce, half full…? Never again go to FRY DAYS Curry sauce is round the sides because they filled it half way… 😂

Went today with my work colleague. Food was absolutely amazing, service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this place to everyone. If you haven't tried it, you really need too. Thank you guys.

Full House Breakfast needs its name changing to Belly Buster Breakfast. Chilled atmosphere and a happy welcome, food come cooked and hot tasted really good. The cafe side of the business is as good as the chip shop. Easily 5 star.

Second time I've been here and to be honest I won't go anywhere else else now for fish and chips, I don't mind the 10 miles round trip as I know I'm going to enjoy the food.see you all again!

Christmas shopping called in for breakfast I had placed egg on toast with tomatoes on the side hubby had med breakfast when came it was absolutely delicious eggs poached to perfection and hubby said one of the best breakfast he's had very friendly staff and a great atmosphere can't recommend it enough definitely coming back

Stood waiting to be served for 5 minutes, why they all stood talking in the back. Asked for poached egg on toast, Got 2 raw fried eggs. No music atmosphere shocking. Won't be going there again. And definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Cracking chippy, wouldn’t go anywhere else!

The very best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted in 40 years. If you are searching for traditional fish and chips cooked as it used to be this is the place to go (forget the Black Country museum or the sea shell in London’s Lisson Grove) The beef dripping cooked fish and chips are simply sublime Batter was light and crispy as it should and the fish within the batter parcel was poached to perfection being moist and flaky The staff were exceptionally friendly Great portion size Excellent value for money And option to dine in This venue is my go to for fish and chips as it’s a 16 mile round trip

Haven't been to a chippy in probably over a year. I have used the Plaice To Eat when it was previously called Mario's and it was probably the last time I had a chippy. I had my usual large mixed chicken meat and chips in a tray. My daughter had the same but the medium and my wife had large cod and chips. Anticipation was high because it had been a long time since we've had a chippy but I needn't have worried. The food was hot the chicken meat was how I like it cooked well, sort of chargrilled. Me and my daughter had the battered chips whereas my wife had regular chips and they even do beef dripping chips which might sway me next time. The staff are friendly and I wont hesitate in the future using this place again. I am very happy customer.

Not the best fish n chips but great value. I got medium chips & small sausage for £3.60 which is pretty neat and it certainly filled me up 👍

best kebab meat round for miles

Waited over 35 minutes from paying to get our food. Not informed there was a wait, and didn’t order anything out of the ordinary! Fish and chips & doner & chips?? Seven people came and went after us. Shocking customer service. Had heard amazing things about this place, cod was great but won’t be back.. no apology, no acknowledgment… such a shame….

Fab breakfast. Can change anything like a hash brown for black pud or extra mushrooms. Lovely people and good prices.

Waited 40 minutes( after paying) no chicken kebab meat only donner and it was only 6.45pm. Seemed more important to get their justeat orders done. Costumer waiting an hour to get a gluten free meal! Bring back Maria because this place is so disorganised and in my opinion is a shadow of what it used to be when it was Mario's. This is my review only, you go there on a Tuesday evening snd tell it how it is

Hands down the best chippy around, not just the Brownhills area but the whole of the Walsall borough. Yes you might wait a little longer than other places, but I would rather do that and have all the food cooked fresh than have it all dried out and horrible like other places just for the sake of a few extra minutes. The whole staff work tirelessly to serve whatever you require, nothing is ever too much trouble and the menu choice is the best around. Normal chips, battered chips and even beef dripping chips. They will also cook anything else you else for in the beef dripping. I’ve also had breakfast sandwiches from here and they’re always piping hot and fresh. Honestly, top notch food, service and management. Highly recommend anyone to try it because once you do, you will not want to go anywhere else.

Spot on food. Amazing how the offer 3 types of chips (beef dripping, plain veggie and battered chips) daily and then also have a gluten free day. Portion sizes are MASSIVE. Normal prices. Little wait on fish ect as the cook them fresh, which adds to their top quality food, not just sitting in hot cabinets. Kebabs are absoloutly on point. THEY ALSO SELL IRISH CURRY. You aint had it before? Then you need to try. This is a honest review and for the only negative i could dig at is i dont like the gravy, its not like chipshop gravy but like a bisto one, which ovbiously would be a higher quality gravy than the chip shop, but chip shop gravy is chipshop gravy, just goes abit better. Very good staff, extreamly welcoming. I would highly reccomend this place. Would like it if you could do beef dripping battered chips (like Majors Bilston) think it would sell well. Eaten cafe and chip shop food Both absolutely amazing even down to my weak coffee 🤣 great sized portions eating in or taking away, lovely staff and a great warming atmosphere, wait time is roughly 20 to 30 mins. Will not go anywhere else, mine and my partners spot now. Well done and thank you to all the staff for having a great place for us to come ❤️

We have ordered from The Plaice To Eat a few times now for work. I work in the local Nursing Home and we order for approx 50people at a time. The shop have always been accommodating to our needs as we have varying diet types including someone who is gluten free and nothing is ever too much trouble to ensure our residents all get fed. The food is delivered to us hot, fresh, and well cooked and you can always tell when it's chippy day cause you can hear a pin drop in the dining room!! Not to mention you'll find the staff gathered around the staff room table nicking the left over chips and sauces for butties! Absolutely amazing food and service and we always recommend it should anyone ask where to gt a chippy!! Can't comment on the atmosphere in the shop but based on the atmosphere given off by the staff when they deliver I imagine the shop has a wonderful atmosphere!! Thank you The Plaice To Eat!

Great place and brilliant food, obviously the recent bad reviews are from the competition, keep up the good work and the mushy pea fritters are something else.

Best chippy in brownhills. Often have mix kebab meat with battered chips. Always good portions of meat and chips never soggy like most other chip shops local and very tasty also

23rd Oct 23. Since the place has changed nothing ever seems to be cooked anymore! I get they want to do fresh to order but there's a fine line between taking the piss and good service. Tonight we waited 45 minutes for chips 2 sausages a fishcake and a pot of curry sauce and gravy. All for the chips to be rock hard and not cooked as they are rushing to get chips cooked to serve people. They know how busy they are going to be of an evening but never seem to be prepared. It would of been quicker to go to dominoes for a fresh pizza than get a chipshop now. Very disappointed in the service the past few months. 2nd chips photo was meant to be mixed but hardly a mix there mostly just batter bits the chips were hardly touched. Didn't even give any to the dogs they were that hard so straight in the bin they went. Basically paid 9.50 for 2 sausage a fishcake and 2 sauce.

The last 2 one star reviews are completely fake. It is jealousy because of how well the new establishment is doing and probably taking business away from others in the area who are inferior. The least review even says they were doing just eat orders but they don't even do this. They employ their own driver. Just bore off with your lies. It causes upset and can ruin repurations and hard work. This place is great and the food is very special.

*edited* Every single week we go to the plaice to eat, ok sometimes it isn't as good as other weeks but even then that's just down to being spoilt by their quality lol and even on down days still tops others in the area. I went in this evening before closing and got the best crispy and crunchy battered chips. Its not just the food that keeps me coming back its the friendlness of the owners and workers, they are welcoming and it makes it more personal when they have 100s of customers but almost every member of staff will know the delivery address based off order or just my voice haha, The plaice to eat is both affordable, excellent quality and welcoming, you can't go wrong and if there happened to be any issues they sort it with no issues,

The best chippy in Brownhills and surrounding area. Food is always fresh and piping hot, with very generous portions. Anyone who hasn’t tried them yet, the mushy pea fritters are amazing too! Always served by kind and friendly staff. Won’t use anywhere else now!

Absolutely phenomenal chip shop! The chap on the other end of the phone is always polite and the food is arguably the best around! Anything they cook in beef dripping is an instant winner, and those kebabs...I have no words

Went here tonight for the first time. My local chippy won't be happy now you've converted us. The battered chips and kebab were the best we've had. Prices are really good for the portion you get

Went to try the beef dripping chips and the battered chips. Told them that we were new to the area and they let me try the beef dripping chips before I bought them. Bought a cone of each and the portions were generous. Both were very good. Kebab meat and salad was good. Very fresh. Immaculately clean shop and cafe.

Well, I’m not a chip shop fan. Twice a year maybe. Tonight Hubby saw the plaice to eat were cooking chips in beef dripping so off he went. Came back with the crispiest battered fish ever, and the chips. Sampled both. Oh my those dripping chips took me back to my nans late 60’s, bloomin wonderful. The fish was a delight. Hubby said it was the best fish and chips he can remember, and that’s saying something from him 😆. So might be more than twice a year, if theres dripping chips of course.

Tried today for the first time. Sandwiches were amazing. Will definitely be back!! Thank you.

Where do I begin,well I have had both deliveries and eaten in,from breakfast to fish chips and the best I've ever tasted mushy peas 😋 fish always beautiful and so are the chips.chicken kebab meat breakfast baked potato I have had it,whether delivered to my work place or home. The food has always been 5 stars and trust me I am a very picky eater,even down to the coffee aswell which is amazing. The place is absolutely spotless,and the owners are so friendly and curtious nothing is ever to much trouble. There is nothing I wouldn't recommend on the whole menu as it all amazing. Was driving down the road and I saw a Greggs, so was stuffing to find parking spots and found one outside here. Looked and smelt so good I went in. Got a HUGE regular doner meat chips and salad and it was amazing! Love the battered chips and great service. If I’m around here again I’ll be back!

We went here about an hour ago,when we got home my wife realised she hadn't got her full order,she rang the shop,the owner answered and within 10 minutes turned up with the missing food,a free bottle of pop and a full refund in his hands, obviously we didn't take the refund but where do you get better service,I would 100% recommend The Place To Eat

1st visit since new owners moved in. Refurb of seating/eat in area warm and comfortable. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Menus clearly laid out with lots of choice. My wife and I not big eaters so shared medium fish chips and peas. Served on plates with proper cutlery each. Freshly cooked to perfection. Very good quality fish. Already planning our return when next in Brownhills.

The best chippy around by far. The pure cleanliness of the place inside and how immaculate this place is from top to bottom !! The food is absolutely delicious.. quality food at great prices :) the staff are lovely, and the fact they do gluten free days, so me and my friend can eat the same take away together knowing she's safe with having an allergy ! Gorgeous food. We always used Mario’s so are over the moon to see that the same fantastic quality of food and service is continuing.

Very well kept, clean tables and nicely lit area to eat, friendly staff - aways get a greeting when walking in and can always have a chat with them while they work.

Great chippy with plenty of variety and availability of food. Place is clean, well staffed and friendly. Battered chips available here as a little extra appeal for the place.

Ordered fish and chips twice also mushy peas and a curry sauce. Fish cooked fresh-chips didn't taste the best and I don't think our meals were worth £21...

Rather expensive and not very nice. Had a kebab and chips special and 4 pieces of kebab meat and cost £6. Both had a bad tummy the next day. Would rather go marios other plaice as lots better. But lovely friendly staff.

Mario's used to be the best chip shop in brownhills. But after being ripped off over a large cod; receiving an overcooked medium cod a while back. I refused to use them for around 6 months. Tonight, we've had a busy day, and it was running too late, to cook for family who had to travel back after a great bank holiday weekend. I bought 2 x large battered chips and numerous extras. The chips came as mixed, with more normal than battered. All chips tasted stale and some inedible due to being overcooked and dried out. So disappointing.

Bought a Scallop with BBQ Sauce (which cost 20p) so cost £0.80p in total. Was a good sized Scallop, cooked perfectly, and still quite hot. Enjoyed it very much. 😊👍👍

Tried this place on a whim possibly one of the better chippies around brown hills and a plus point is they take card..fresh cooked food battered and regular chips..

Called in the afternoon to place a large order for collection on the evening. Staff contacted me later to confirm the order. Everything was cooked fresh and was being wrapped and bagged up when I arrived to collect. Nothing missing from the order. Service was very efficient, staff we're friendly as always and food was delicious! Thanks again keep up the good hard work 😀
