Lovely atmosphere, Lovely staff, The food was amazing and the whole restaurant vibe was exquisite from start to finish. I would recommend Turquoise to all my family and friends 😊
The food was really good, it’s only a set list as the chef is on holiday. The atmosphere is great but the service was poor. It took over 30 minutes to get our main food, and a further 20 minutes to get our second drinks. The waitresses apologised a few times.
Lovely place with great food. The service was really good with relaxed but attentive staff. The decor is interesting but very welcoming and comfortable. All of the dishes we ordered were fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Workington.

1st time visiting Lincoln and it was my husband's birthday, he is Brazilian and this restaurant had been on our list to visit.
It did not disappoint, the meat was cooked to perfection and delicious. We were treated very well and had a lovely meal.
Excellent quality traditional fish and chips.
Had large fish supper and got 2 quality fish in lovely batter with quality chips.
Good value today at 11.50.

Beautiful location and amazing views. Room was brill. Food delicious and great guest ale. Early bar close 10pm but that was fine after a day fell walking.
This is the second time we have visited The Miners Sling and sadly, this visit was not as good as the previous one. The food was ok but they only had one bread left and this was prior to 7pm so our ploughman's lunch was rather lacking in something to eat the cheddar with. Maybe a few crackers would have been a helpful accompaniment to the one piece of bread provided? Service was tardy too. Shame.

We stopped for lunch on our walk of the local hills to find a wide fronted pub alongside the main road. Plenty of parking for those on wheels. Once inside you are immediately struck by the change in decor and atmosphere since we last visited. Gone is the cosy country pub now replaced with a brash well lit American roadside theme that just seems to work. The menu has had the same transformation serving up typical American BBQ options. Thankfully the cask ale is still available ... Three on offer the day we visited. The two sampled were in excellent condition and well served by friendly staff. A barrell was changed during our visit ... Do good to see a cellar person on duty at lunchtime...not always the case these days. Food was good , tasty and promptly served. Enormous portions. Looks like it's a music venue after dark. Will stop by again.
We’ve long considered this restaurant a benchmark for quality, and on this visit, the food and service did not disappoint. The kitchen continues to execute dishes with finesse, each plate showcasing good technique and well-balanced flavours. Service was polished, attentive, and welcoming — hallmarks of a well-run establishment.
However, we left feeling deeply disappointed, not because of what was on the plate, but because of what we paid for it. Prices have escalated dramatically since over the 20 years we have visited, to a point we now feel it is unreasonable. A £3 course £120 dinner menu is accompanied by various supplements, not least £8 for each small vegetable accompaniment and service of 12.5%.
A particular sticking point was the £55 supplement for Dover sole and £40 for Beef Wellington — a charge that feels excessive, even when factoring in quality and sourcing. These were well-cooked pieces of fish and meat, but priced at a level that borders on absurd, as a supplement to a 3 course £120 menu (note not an extra course, but an extra cost to the main course in the 3 course menu).
Fine dining will always command a premium, and we’ve never hesitated to pay for excellence. But there’s a difference between a splurge and a squeeze. Sadly, despite the kitchen’s continued high standards, the experience was overshadowed by a creeping sense of being taken advantage of. We’re not sure we’ll return — not because it isn’t good, but because it no longer feels worth it.
