What a great place to find. We booked on line a week ahead our our stay at the Chatsworth CAMC site across the road. Greeted warmly, but as we were a bit early we grabbed a drink in the bar and sat down. 20 mins later another member of the team showed us upstairs to our table. We chose wisely with the Lamb & Beef dishes which were delicious, washed down with a lovely Shiraz. All in all a fantastic Sunday dining experience. Highly recommended.

Went here for our 5 year anniversary. Won't be returning. Food is chain pub quality for a 5* price. We were shoved in a side room where you can see the kitchen yet food came cold. Mains followed the starters like almost immediately so I'm not sure how 'freshly made' food it. I ordered the burger without sauce and with being in view of kitchen could hear them moaning about our order. Followed by a member of the kitchen watching me eat it. Once we'd declined dessert that was it. No one came back to us, another round of drinks would've be nice but nothing. The other half had to go find someone to pay the bill. Whilst he was gone (I'm assuming it the was accountant that was seated next to us as someone brought them a large bag of receipts.) our server appeared and stood next me to talking to them. To which the person had to tell her to move so I could leave. Never once was asked how the food was. Just seemed like they'd got our money and were done with us. Not how we wanted to spend our Anniversary. £130+ wasted! As locals to the area we'll stick to the pubs we know. If you want a fine dining experience try the Maynard.

**A Delightful Dining Experience at The Prince of Wales Pub in Baslow** Our recent visit to The Prince of Wales Pub in Baslow was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, marked by the newly refreshed surroundings and an inviting restaurant ambiance. The décor strikes a perfect balance between modern comfort and traditional charm, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. One of the highlights of dining here is the visible pass from the restaurant, offering a fascinating glimpse into the kitchen's workings. It's always interesting to see the culinary team in action, adding an extra layer of engagement to the meal. Service was exemplary – attentive, friendly, and quietly efficient, ensuring that our dining experience was relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was calm and congenial, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely meal. I opted for the roast lamb, which was nothing short of excellent. The lamb was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by a generous portion of fresh vegetables including carrots, broccoli, cabbage, and green beans. The meal was elevated by a massive Yorkshire pudding and a dollop of mint sauce, adding a delightful traditional touch to the dish. In summary, The Prince of Wales Pub in Baslow offers a wonderful dining experience with its refreshed surroundings, engaging kitchen views, excellent service, and delicious food. It's a place I would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Booked for Sunday lunch today. We had the roast beef dinner and it was one of the best I've ever had. I love my veg, but I'm fussy about how it's cooked. This was perfect. There were 5 veg with the roast and we added a side of cauliflower cheese. All were perfect, neither over nor under cooked. Would definitely recommend. It wasn't cheap at £22 but if you’re looking for a really good meal, it's worth it.

Everyone at the table remarked how their food was extremely salty. Way over seasoned. The starters were great, however the mains were so salty, especially the curry and the burgers. The chips on the fish and chips were apparently soggy and disappointing. All sort of fine but at the prices they charge you'd expect better. Don't think we'll be going back.

I went on a Friday and the pub was busy which is clearly a good sign that the locals love the place. I'd booked a table in the restaurant, if you do this try get a table with a view of the kitchen, for a great dinner show, it's the most well behaved and well coordinated kitchen I have ever seen. The food was great, we had the duck and the lamb, both amazing. Sticky toffee pudding and chocolate mousse for dessert also fab. Staff were friendly and polite. Overall a very pleasant evening. They also do a fish and chips and fizz night, (I think on Fridays) which I will be back to try as the plates coming out of the kitchen looked superb.

The pub was nice, clean and welcoming. Nicely decorated. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The fish and chips, pictured, were nice, but the batter could have been crispier. The chips were lovely. A note to management, an open kitchen is a brave choice and adds some nice theatre to a restaurant, however it doesn’t look great when all the chefs are leaning against the counter on their phones.

Called in 'on spec' on a very busy Boxing day lunchtime. Luckily I managed to get a table very quickly as a couple were just about to leave. I was a solo visitor but I had two dogs with me. Dogs are welcome in the bar area. Because of my situation, one of the staff came and took my order usually customers go to the bar. I enjoyed a Turkey Bacon and Brie sandwich with big chunky chips all delicious and I was so full I had to leave some. Washed this down with a half of Aspell cider. Forgot to photograph the food, but took a few shots of this cosy country pub which has been updated and styled very tastefully. All the staff were smiling, friendly and helpful. Earlier in the week, I visited this place. Firstly, the ambiance and seating in the bar were pleasant—I'd definitely classify it as an upper-class pub. The service was also excellent; the staff were really friendly and adept at accommodating some of the other diners' dietary needs. Now, onto the food: I opted for the Classic Burger. I must admit I was somewhat disappointed. The meat lacked a specific cook; it was surprisingly uniformly gray, given its thickness. Additionally, there seemed to be a lack of variety in sauces within the burger, and the flavors didn't blend well. However, the fries and salad that accompanied it were enjoyable. I couldn't help but notice that the other diners I was with seemed to have ordered tastier dishes, which better showcased the kitchen's capabilities. Perhaps the burger I received was an exception, not meeting their usual standard. Nevertheless, I will give the benefit of the doubt and rate this place 5 stars, but maybe just don't go there for a burger.

In principle this place is ideal for dropping in for a drink after a day in the peaks. Unfortunately their idea of table management consists of plonking a reserved container on your table and giving you 20 minutes to drink up and get out. When this happened to us, no words were spoken as the reserved sign was placed. There were no apologies, no alternative seating arrangements offered. The message we got was ‘drink up and get out’ - I’d avoid the upset.
