Quite a surprise, this one - went to Strood to go to another establishment for lunch, only to find that said establishment was closed.... wondering where to go, spotted this little place on a walk through to the High Street, and decided to try it out. Bit confusing to begin with as no one behind the counter - then a young lady (staff) appeared from upstairs and showed us
to a table and gave us menus.
Another staff member arrived and both were really helpful, explaining that we could 'tweak' the options available if we preferred. Outcome was a very pleasant lunch - reasonably priced - and I would go here again for sure 😊
Lovely family run restaurant, which adds to the experience and authenticity. Great food at affordable prices. Service very good. We enjoyed the lamb and chicken. Enjoyed the bring your own drinks. Desserts also very nice. Well worth a visit.
Awesome. Sat outside in the sun enjoying the coffee and a custard filled croissant. I love my coffee and indeed this sings from heaven. The devil is in the details and they know how to make fantastic coffee. The croissant beautifully light and sweet. The staff equally so
We were staying in an Airbnb properly for a few days and Gelatistry was just a few strides away. We went there every day, yes, it's that good. But the queues were long especially after the nearby schools break up for the day. Some most unusual flavours alongside the more common ones. My husband had fig and something one day - wouldn't have been my choice but I'm boring!
Popped in for breakfast this morning and we were made to feel very welcome. The full den breakfast was lovely, everything top quality. Lovely coffee and orange juice also. Husband had the bacon sandwich which he throughly enjoyed. Loved the friendly atmosphere and the decor. We will definitely be back!
Delicious pizzas and decent people! BG Pizzas are an award winning pizza business in Halifax that do more than just amazingly tasty food, they also look after their local community and charities too. Local businesses supporting each other and much better value and flavour than the big pizza chains. Thanks, Danny, 365 Awards
We have waited a while before visiting this restaurant as I wanted to see what the reviews were like.
I have to confess the website had originally put me off as it's very fussy/wordy/hard to read due to the typeface/background, but at the end of the day I wanted to try out the food!
We had stuffed pork which was very tasty (although I do like to have the potatoes included in the cost at this price point) but the highlight was the dessert.
It was a delicious lemon and almond cake which managed to be satisfying but light at the same time - really lovely.
Service was attentive without being intrusive, and being able to take our own drinks was great.
Would love to try the tasting menu at some point but the waiting list is long (maybe they could add in some extra dates since it's so popular)
Would definitely visit again.
Hidden away from the crowd is Dots cafe . The highlights are scones ,savoury and cream tea types and homemade cakes. Tomato and basil served with garnish and relish with tea or coffee costs only £6. We sat in the courtyard with ducks and hens pottering nearby but there are inside seats too. Will bring more friends in the future.
