Popped in for breakfast this morning and we were made to feel very welcome. The full den breakfast was lovely, everything top quality. Lovely coffee and orange juice also. Husband had the bacon sandwich which he throughly enjoyed. Loved the friendly atmosphere and the decor. We will definitely be back!

Great staff good food BUT I can’t justify 2 cans of Diet Coke £5.50 and others saying drink’s expensive

What a beautiful place, this was our first visit and to say we were made welcome is an understatement. The atmosphere was not only welcoming and relaxed, but this restaurant/café has a unique charm, beautiful decor, well spaced seating, comfortable attractive furniture and every detail so obviously thought out. The owner and staff made us feel so welcome which was lovely, the menu variety, again obviously well thought out. The service of food was prompt, presentation excellent and the food absolutely delicious. We will be returning very soon to try the breakfast menu, we cannot recommend this beautiful place enough, and wish them every success.

We were returning home from Colchester and decided to grab a quick cuppa and possibly a bite to eat. Having passed The Foxes Den numerous times, we decided to give it a try. What an absolutely lovely place!! The greeting was friendly, warm and inviting. The place was spotless, the food was very well presented and served fairly quickly, and competitively priced too. We will defiinately be visiting again soon.

What a gem this small hotel is. We wanted a base for exploring the beautiful suffolk county, and this was perfect. The room was lovely, nicely decorated with a modern en suite in a separate building of bungalows with their own patio, conveniently close to the car park so no need to haul all our belongings very far. This suited our needs perfectly. The breakfast served in the conservatory was delicious and our hosts Vanessa and Steve couldn't have been more welcoming, which made our stay a lovely experience.

Been coming here for a few weeks now and never disappointed. Whether it’s for coffee and cake or a breakfast or lunch, the food and welcome is always outstanding!! A fun, friendly, and yet efficient place where the staff go out of their way to make sure that every visit is as good, if not better, than the last. Lots of on-site parking, so no fuss there.

Went for breakfast this morning with a friend. Could not fault it 10/10. Sausage was amazing, lovely bacon and eggs cooked to perfection. People working there genuinely interested in how our experience was. Will definitely return

We arranged to meet our Mother in Law for a meal for Mothering Sunday here last night. The place was welcoming from the get-go with friendly servers. My Father in law doesn't eat meat and isn't much of a fish lover either, so although the steak options suited 3 of the party, we were looking at a limited option for him. However, we asked Katie Partridge, the owner, if there were any other options, and she suggested a Thai banana flower dish. 🌼 Well, we all had a fine eating experience, Katie even bought out a Thai sauce for the 3 steak dishes, which was first class. We all had a really great time , the place was super friendly and extremely accommodating for our dietary likes. I can't remember having such a warm welcome from a pub as we did last night. Nothing appeared too much trouble and the food was delicious. Thank you 😊

This place could be so good, but the problem is they are so hit and miss. Sometimes you get a sandwich and it’s really good, full of filling and lovely and fresh, other times it’s not good at all, which when you’re paying best part of £5 for a sandwich, isn’t good enough, and you’d be better getting a packet sandwich from the local supermarket. Also, sometimes they really make you feel like you’re inconveniencing them by asking for a sandwich, or they haven’t got enough bread in stock, which surely defeats the object of a deli that does sandwiches?

If you’re after a classic country pub with no frills, just timeless charm and great food, The Wheatsheaf is the place to go. This old-fashioned gem is full of character, with its rustic interiors, warm ambiance, and a proper traditional pub vibe. The menu stays true to its roots, offering comforting, classic dishes without the need for modern twists. I tried the fish and chips, and it was everything you’d hope for—crispy, golden batter encasing tender, flaky fish, served with perfectly cooked chips. It’s hearty, satisfying, and exactly what a pub meal should be. Dog lovers will especially appreciate The Wheatsheaf, as it’s wonderfully dog-friendly. After a countryside stroll, it’s the perfect spot to unwind, with water bowls and even treats available for your four-legged companions. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly take pride in maintaining the warm, inviting feel of the pub. Whether you’re looking for a classic meal, a pint in a cozy setting, or somewhere to bring your dog, The Wheatsheaf is a true treasure.
