The Hellenic Eatery

Cathays, Cardiff
18/08/2018: Could not fault them - good food and quick service! Can get very busy at times but its worth it (recommend booking a table). They do not cram you in (unlike Maria's down the road) and will be honest with waiting times.
17/08/2018: After coming in the day before and being turned away because they were full the whole evening, we reserved a table for the next day and we could see why they were so popular. The service was quick and very welcoming. The atmosphere was friendly and the music was a nice touch. But the real star was the food - we had the sharing platter and the meat, chips and veg were all very tasty and plentiful. I've never had Greek before so was pleasantly surprised. Will have to go back for the baklava!

Joes

Oystermouth, Swansea
19/08/2018: Nice ice cream but not a pleasant environment for coffee...too cramped and noisy. Better places to meet ....
19/08/2018: Best place to go with so many different flavours to choose from. Always busy, which speaks volumes, open late a few nights too. Some say it’s expensive for ice cream but when you get the best, you don’t mind paying a little bit extra! Parking can be an issue, especially peak times in Mumbles.

The Crown

Mardy, Monmouthshire
29/08/2018: I have been in this pub for food a couple of times. Food is good and reasonably priced. Very positive point about this place is that the menu is very different from what you find in every other pubs in the area. Definitely recommended .
25/08/2018: We chose this place after reading reviews on trip advisor. Away from home, we were wanting a place to eat where our dog would be welcome. She was and was given doggie treats. Our food was lovely and homemade. Having a starter, main course and a sweet, it was all delicious and very well presented. The guest beer was good too. This is a lovely little pub and well worth a visit. 5 stars from me.

Gwaelod y Garth Inn

Pentyrch, Cardiff, <20£
18/08/2018: Came here with my wife and found it very quaint with a good atmosphere. It is a traditional village pub that serves great meals and has a good choice of drinks. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and we would definitely come back.
15/08/2018: We dropped in for lunch to break our journey. The food was just what we wanted. The carrot and coriander soup and modules mariniere, both off the specials menu were tasty. Beware if you in the midst of a journey to follow the map. We got lost both arriving and leaving.

Cafe du chat noir ltd

Cathays, Cardiff
28/08/2018: A little bit of France in Roath. Small but perfectly built. Oh and by the way the food is wonderful.
26/08/2018: Have visited this cafe twice this summer, once on my own and once with a friend for breakfast. Both times I received friendly service and the food was superb - freshly made to order and the sauce that they put on the mushrooms is delicious! One of the few places in Cardiff that makes you feel comfortable to eat alone. Very pleasant surroundings will definitely return and recommend.

Mezza Luna

Plasnewydd, Cardiff, 20-30£
25/08/2018: Bought a six dish meze feast with wine for 4 people voucher from Groupon for a very reasonable price of just over £30 and hasn't heard anything about this place before our visit. We were not disappointed and what's more we had over and above the number of dishes we initially thought we were due so the value for money was particularly excellent. Despite the voucher though, the dishes on the menu were all reasonably priced in terms of the quality of cuisine which was fantastic. Thoroughly tasty and well prepared food with a range of flavours and options to choose from - truly a feast fit for kings. The restaurant itself was clean throughout with a pleasant ambience and the staff were friendly throughout with speedy and efficient service. I'd truly recommend this place - the cuisine is out of this world.
18/08/2018: We went here for a pre-birthday meal with family, the reviews on here sounded like a good place to eat, however the service was very poor and un-attentive, almost like the staff couldn’t be bothered and we had to ask twice for them to take our order. The Belly dancer was completly un-neccisary, false and quite off putting when trying to enjoy a meal with family. The only good thing i can say about mezza lunna is the food is good. Definatly won’t be rushing back in a hurry.

Madame Fromage

Cathays, Cardiff
19/08/2018: Service très agréable, mais plats choisis tellement gras..., beurk! Les clients des autres tables semblaient apprécier.
19/08/2018: From entering to leaving the customer is valued, both in the cafe and at the cheese counter. Our most recent visit was for a late breakfast, perfectly cooked and well presented dishes. On leaving we purchased some pies and cheeses, good value, plenty of choice, delicious and professional staff.

The Clink Restaurant

Adamsdown, Cardiff, 20-30£
01/09/2018: Better than expected I'd say it beats some of the more well known eateries in cardiff as a trained chef myself I was very impressed with both the flavours of food and the over all presentation I just hope the guys realise after time what a hidden tallent they have but never realised it. Ok he cost was £39 per head but every bit worth it myself and partner will defiantly be returning there was good banter with all the guests but not over powering the guys realised that this after all is a business very professional maybe one day they could widen the scope and have young adults there from catering college's and allow the prisoners to pass on their knowledge and become mentors ..... well done
31/08/2018: What a fabulous evening of culinary delights. The food was fabulous, wonderfully presented and brilliant value for money. The staff were friendly and a nice mix of experiences to not so. Our waiter was new to waiting but was charming and well informed of the menu. I asked about the dishes and flavours and Miles was spot on with his descriptions of the food.

Cinnamon Kitchen Indian Restaurant

Sandfields West, Neath Port Talbot
08/08/2018: Lovely resturant. Good food polite staff but service was a little slower than id like. Otherwise a nice enough meal. Would definately return. Take away available however no delivery which can be disappointing if you live locally. All together a nice place x
06/08/2018: This restaurant is absolutely amazing and should not be missed! The staff are courteous and friendly, the food is delicious, filled with spices and new flavours! I only wish they would relocate to my home town! The papadams arrived with small dishes of coconut, shredded onions, tomato sauce and another sauce, milky white and fabulous! We chose one of the chef’s recommendations for our main course, which promised to be unique and so it was! Congratulations, Cinammon Kitchen! Thank you so much for a memorable meal!

Cafe Citta

Cathays, Cardiff
18/08/2018: This is quite literally the best Italian meal I have outside of Italy. My colleagues and I each had different mains and they were all exquisite. Perfect home made Italian pasta and sauces with beautifully balanced seasonings. Portions are large as well. And the desserts. Mercy, I thought I couldn’t eat another bite but We could not help ourselves. I woke the following morning still full.
17/08/2018: Me and my husband went and had the most lovely time. Cafe Citta is perfect, a tiny little hide away, great atmosphere, the staff are super lovely and friendly. It feels so authentic, and you can see the kitchen cooking away right next to you as you nibble on yummy antipasti. The food is absolutely amazing!! We had the antipasti to share, and the basil oil dressing was beautiful. We had a pizza each, it was perfect, crispy and thin, and soooo tasty! Yum yum yum. The only thing...beer on tap would be great. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back.

12/08/2018: I have lived in Swansea and had never noticed this place. It is a hidden gem!
09/08/2018: Took advantage of a free evening and a very handy voucher that gave us the 6 course taster menu at an amazing price. Our second visit to this restaurant did not disappoint. The food is excellent, service to match. We will be back, soon hopefully.

The Whitebrook Restaurant

Trellech United, Monmouthshire
03/09/2018: I had no idea where hubby had booked us in for dinner but what a lovely surprise. Glass of champagne on arrival and was told it was the sampling menu which was very exciting as we have not done that before. We decided to go blind on the menu so had no idea what was coming, but were given a comprehensive breakdown of the food and why each wine was best with it. Fabulous flavours, really enjoyed every course. Some amazing cheese to finish with a glass of port:) Had a lovely time and more than enough to eat, compliments to the chief:)
01/09/2018: 3rd Visit over a period of 14 years & various management teams. This time was a special occasion for just 2 of us, we stayed overnight, & as previously whitebrook did not fail to live up to the surprise & wonder of that first visit all those years ago. A lot of thought, preparation & inspiration goes into each small serving of that tasting menu, which is there as it is, their choice & their time to amuse & entertain.
