The Brit Pub

Bryn and Cwmavon, Neath Port Talbot, 20-30£
18/01/2018: In the area on business and read previous reviews so gave it a try on Monday. Came back with several other colleagues last night and again tonight. Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly staff - highly recommended!
11/01/2018: We visited as a family on recommendation of one of the family members who had been before - I found it a little odd to pay such a large deposit to reserve a table of 8, but maybe that is usual these days ? There was a lovely atmosphere and the service was excellent - there was only 1 meal of sausage and mash that was sent back (mash lumpy and sausages not too nice either) - a new meal of something different was provided without any fuss but would have been good for the chef to come out and see what the issue was - but everyone else enjoyed their meals - reasonably priced and would probably revisit.

Sketty, Swansea
17/01/2018: I’ve called and called, left numerous messages, on numerous occasions. Not a single call back. Nothing. I’m sure the food is good. Just wonder if it’s all gone to their heads a little. A tiny bit of customer service, not to mention good manners, wouldn’t go amiss. If you’re busy - no problem - but don’t ignore multiple messages. We went to the Mermaid instead which was ace.
09/01/2018: We had to book two months in advance for a Friday evening, but when the day came we were very excited. Although 2130 was a little later than we would have liked, we were happy to take it, and in fact got a call from Adam about half seven to say there had been a cancellation and did we want to come down earlier - which we did! We opted for the tasting menu with the flight of wines and were not disappointed. The restuarant is small, but still feels very relaxed, and the waitress was polite and informative without being overbearing. The roasted swede and blackberry sorbet were the stand out elements for me of what was a wonderful meal - everything presented beautifully, and despite the seven courses not over-full - we left sated and content. Would love to go again when opportunity arises to sample different menu.

The Crown

Mardy, Monmouthshire
11/01/2018: People who live in the Abergavenny area know just what a great place this is to eat and to enjoy a very sociable time with family and friends. People from outside the area may not know about the Crown. Pantygelli which is about two miles out of Abergavenny on the Old Hereford Road. The menu offers a good selection, something for everyone and the quality of food for a pub is well above what would be expected. Value for money is excellent. Good choice of wines and beers. Service is very good and friendly which adds to the relaxed atmosphere of a traditional country pub. I've eaten here with both family and friends and always enjoy the food, service and surroundings.
09/01/2018: We love eating here, spoiling ourselves without braking the bank! The menu offers traditional to innovative meals - all fabulous. The owners and staff always make sure everything is perfect. For beer drinkers - leave the car behind and enjoy beer that is in perfect condition.

Oystermouth, Swansea
17/01/2018: Been here a few times and love it - very relaxed, easy going and chilled, great for kids and adults alike and brings out your inner child lol who doesn't love ice cream anyway ! great style as well with a 1950's theme - love it :-) By the way don't be put off if there is a queue as (1) its worth the wait (2) they are well staffed (3) they are quick to cut waiting time so the queue goes quick (4) not everyone sits in as they do take away !!! (5) Caters for everyone therefore, everyone is happy. Iv ticked family on what type of visit simply as it wont let you tick more than one box but its suitable for anyone - A joes experience should be compulsory to put life back into perspective and for 30 mins just be YOU and have fun :-)
14/01/2018: Delicious ice cream. It tastes different to any other kind of ice cream, smoother and tastier. No visit to Swansea is complete without an ice cream at Joe's!

Belle Vue Bistro

Castle, Swansea, 20-30£
17/01/2018: If it hadn’t been for a bland chicken pesto pasta dish, Belle Vue Bistro in Swansea would have scored full marks. However, the dish was lacking flavour and imagination. On the plus sides....the garlic bread pizza starter was very obviously homemade with care and skill. The wild boar, chorizo & gammon ravioli was exceptional and the mark of an inventive chef. The venue is very nicely presented and ambient. The menu is a little confused, but this bistro is definitely recommended overall.
16/01/2018: It was a friend's birthday and she enjoys going to restaurants when we go out to town so that's what we did. My friends had been there before and reassured me that it was out of the way and wasn't busy (I don't like busy restaurants) and they were right. We went in and there was another group aside from us, they eventually left and we were the only ones there. It was a small place but not cramped (theres room to move) which meant that it felt warm (in the sense of cosy). The service staff knew what they were doing and took our orders without a fuss. The food was great and we all enjoyed it, would definitely go again.Only 2 faults: it is cheaper than other restaurants in Swansea but still a bit pricey for those that don't want to go over £10. And secondly the fact that there is no disabled access (lip as you go in and toilet upstairs).

Gwaelod y Garth Inn

Pentyrch, Cardiff, <20£
16/01/2018: Heel gezellige pub! Lekkere steak, perfect gebakken :-) enorm vriendelijk personeel ook. Aanrader!
06/01/2018: As always had a delightful lunch with my wife. You might get cheaper food but you won't get better. Good service and no hidden service charges

The Clink Restaurant

Adamsdown, Cardiff, 20-30£
17/01/2018: The food is imaginative and very tasty. A very good choice on the menu without being overwhelming. The service was excellent and very friendly. We did have to wait 30 minutes for our food but we weren't in a hurry.
15/01/2018: I randomly choosed to go at this restaurant and i was not dissapointed Great service & the food was amazing. I will be back . Thank you

Castle, Swansea, 30-45£
06/01/2018: I recently visited Mosaic with my daughter for a casual evening meal. All the reviews are right it really is a fantastic little place. Although the restaurant was fully booked they still found us a table in the bar. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was chilled, staff were attentive friendly and professional. I would strongly recommend a visit .
29/12/2017: Always a treat to visit an establishment run by Brennan and Andrew. They manage to create an ambiance that enhances any visit. They design menus that tempt the tastebuds. They are connoisseurs of conviviality and sublime service. They manage to employ and train staff that have the same desire to make memorable each visit.Over the years their menus have experimented, expanded, evolved and these days everyone from the charcuterie carnivore to the veracious vegan can find fayre to fulfil accompanied by a wide selection of alcoholic, non alcoholic, hot or cold beverages.Give it a try, you’ll want to return

Liswerry, Newport
18/01/2018: Have been many times for coffee and lunch but first time for evening meal and it was fabulous; the Prosecco is one of the nicest I've tasted; the fillet steak was cooked perfectly and the service was 5*; nothing was too much trouble and the waitresses were very attentive and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We will be returning soon.
29/12/2017: Amazing revelation of this excellent Italian restaurant in the oddest location beneath Tesco’s.Wonderful food good service, some fierce wine prices but for all that excellent, really excellent food.We went a la Carter with a couple of glasses of wine - delightful tasty and very Italian. We loved it, despite the zany seating and fierce wine list - really a class performance from the kitchen- A brilliant discovery Excellent!

Afternoon Tea at the Angel

Grofield, Monmouthshire
04/01/2018: My friend bought a voucher for afternoon tea, for my birthday. Four of us went, just after New Year. There's ample parking to the rear of the hotel, which is a real bonus. The hotel staff at the reception desk were so friendly and obliging. They took our coats and wet brollies. Our first impression of the hotel was good. The decor is lovely. There are several rooms where one can eat, and a couple of bar areas. We were shown to the Wedgwood Room, at the rear of the hotel. It was extremely busy, almost every table was occupied. The tables were beautifully laid with crisp white linen, polished cutlery and bone china crockery. As we entered the room we felt comfortable and relaxed. The staff were efficient and professional in their approach. The quality of the food, sandwiches (of our choice), warm savouries, mini cakes and a individual trifles was outstanding. The tea menu was vast. So many unusual flavours to choose from, and refills available too. We also had warm scones with jam and clotted cream. As others have commented, far too much to eat in one go. So we took what we didn't eat home in boxes!Such a lovely gift from my friend. An experience which I shall always remember and treasure.
24/12/2017: Angel was struggling a little with demand in the bar area and usual standards had slipped a touch. The restaurant though remained pretty good.Service was superb throughout. Flavours generally good, though presentation a little sloppy here and there.

Saray Restaurant

Plasnewydd, Cardiff
17/01/2018: Love this Turkish restaurant. Lovely sharwarma wrap. The ambiance is nice. They give free starters of olive and breads and dips and free Turkish tea and baclava. During winter when all the prayers are close together due to the short days. I love coming here for food so I can do my prayers in their beautiful prayer hall. Blessed be the believers.
16/01/2018: This is a gem of a restaurant. A taste of Turkey / Mediterranean in the middle of Cardiff. Nice ambiance, warm and efficient staff, and delicious food that is tasty and fresh. Also, very reasonably priced.I will definitely return....soon!

Shaam Nights

Plasnewydd, Cardiff, <20£
13/01/2018: Was given a nice table, was told restaurant was fully booked, although when we arrived the place was totally empty and told we would only have till 6:45pm! The sharwama wrap was nice the mix grill did not have any lamb chops. The lamb mehndi was only flakes of meat on rice. We ordered mint tea which was £6 for the pot, we always get complimentary tea at the other places on City Road! The katayf was very nice.
10/01/2018: On a trip from Birmingham and fancied something a little different following overindulgence at christmas.I ordered the vine leaves and mixed grill with a side of cucumber and mint salad. The service was efficient and the restaurant was incredibly clean.... I could smell a clean linen fragrance mingled with the spices and the charcoal grill. The food was amazing. You could taste a lot of different herbs and spices and nothing was greasy. The staff were friendly and checked in at an appropriate time during each course.I finished my meal with mint tea and some cream filled soft pastries drizzled with rose syrup and pistachios.I would definitely recommend this place and I will return next time I am in the area.

Bouchon De Rossi

Castle, Swansea
16/01/2018: Lovely place, friendly staff, intimate surroundings but most of all excellent food. We chose fish starters and main course, the sauces were full of flavour and the fish expertly cooked. The vegetables were bang on too. Wish I could have licked the plate, didn't want to waste a drop! Didn't want to embarrass my husband though.
10/01/2018: 1st time visit certainly will not be my lastStarter was cockles - to die forSteak was a fillet cooked to perfection pepper sauce was delicious I thought when the chips came the portion was a little small but couldn't finish them as the meal was so filling. After a little rest deserts came well presented and delicious Service excellent and very organized Would I go back most certainly Best restaurant review I have given for Swansea
