I've been to Fishguard for years and find it a miserable place, harried by traffic throughout. The Art Gallery shows virtually one artist- does he own the place? Worst of all, unique in my experience, the Public Toilets charge 40p - in this impoverished town. Only one good thing- The Gourmet Pig- a delicious rabbit and bacon pie and many surprising delicacies. Move on to Newport!

Was pleasantly surprised to find the shop in the village when we arrived. We stayed in this gorgeous village for a week and with the nearest supermarket at least 20 mins away this was perfect. Ran by the community it was buzzing and had all you need for a week away. Lots of local produce and staples. Also acts as a coffee shop and was always buzzing. We even passed one evening and they must have had something on. Lovely people and a great thing to do, especially in a village to keep people connected.

Called into this shop twice whilst on holiday on the Gower. First time just to buy some local veg and ice cream. Second time for coffee and cake (actually our intention was to have had a cream tea but they'd run out). Veg and ice creams were excellent. So were coffee and cake. But to crown it all fresh scones arrived whilst we were having our coffee. Scones looked so good and big we had them to take away so had our cream tea. Couldn't fault this shop excellent home made food and great friendly atmosphere. A must visit when on the Gower.

Community shops are usually fantastic places to grab a cake and a cuppa and this was certainly no exception to the rule. There is parking for a few cars round the back, but it's a tight squeeze due to a telegraph pole that should be moved. There must have been a dozen options ranging from bakewells to lemon marscapone cake to almond and rhubarb slice, all of which looked fresh and tempting. There was plenty of seating either inside or out front in the small garden. A pot of tea, a caffetiere of coffee and 2 cakes was c£7. The shop has a good selection of provisions, but they had run out of fresh bread and were waiting for the delivery van to arrive the afternoon I visited. This volunteer-run shop, with café and post-office, is a fantastic example of community spirit and the village is right to be proud of it. It had a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly. The home-made produce (pasities, sausage rolls, sandwiches, cake) was delicious. We bought ours to take-away for lunch and they happily put it straight into our lunchboxes to avoid wasting take-away packaging which would only have gone straight in the bin. The post-office is open for an hour a day and money can be withdrawn there, which is useful considering the lack of cashpoints on the Gower. I'm so pleased we discovered this wonderful place, and I hope to return there in the future.
