The Fountain Inn in Swansea

My fiance and visited for lunch after a day out at the local garden centre and we were delighted with the amazing customer service we were given by the wonderful Elena (I hope I am spelling it right). I have a few dietary requirements and she went above and beyond. The food was lovely and we've been talking about how good it was ever since. I have never been to this restaurant before as I am rarely up this side of Swansea but we will definitely be visiting again in the future. Thanks Elena!

Lovely lunch for my mother's birthday. J6st the 2 of us. The waitress was really lovely, always a smile and chat. Food was delicious and served piping hot. Very enjoyable and highly recommend.

We went there for a birthday party. The staff were extremely friendly and went put of their way to make us all feel at home, happy and comfortable. They went above and beyond. My son personally told them that they deserve a 5 star rating!

Lovely pub offering a menu above the standard pub food offerings. Friendly service and lovely seating area, atmosphere. Would advise booking a table as it's always quite busy. Prices very reasonable for the food quality, only downside is the car park situated at the rear, which is accessed by a narrow driveway.

We visited the restaurant for a meal on a Thursday evening. The restaurant area was very clean, staff were lovely and the food was fantastic! The portions were generous and freshly prepared. Service was quick. We will definitely be back! A great place with fantastic food!!

…… so, lunch today - saw calamari on the menu. Lovely, always enjoy calamari as a starter. Was it available? Yes. Was it in the kitchen? Yes. Could I have it? No! Asked why? Ordering from a different menu. No question, no enquiry, no sense of apology. Cancelled starter 3 lunches - a decent bill received, not cheap. Needless to say, no deserts ordered. Their loss. Disappointed.

Lovely place for lunch with kids. Not fancy but good quality and absolutely immaculately clean and well-maintained. They obviously take a great deal of pride in both the place and the service they provide.

Good bed, great breakfast included in the price.

Called in on the off chance for food and luckily they could accommodate us just after 4:30pm. Staff impeccable, service amazing...food 5 star absolutely amazing can't fault it. highly recommend be back very soon.

My wife and I stayed for two nights at the Fountain and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well located, attractive, comfortable, spacious and extremely well managed. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced and the staff are uniformly friendly, helpful and good-humoured. Our stay was in October 2020 - during the Covid semi-lockdown period - and we were impressed by how efficiently the restrictions were handled and how little they were allowed to disrupt or impede our activities. A really memorable weekend - highly recommended on every count! We will certainly be repeating the experience as soon as we can.

After having our wedding cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, we chose to go to the fountain inn to celebrate and have our first meal as a married couple. They were absolutely amazing! The table was decorated for us at their expense, flowers and a bottle prosecco waiting for us, it was so relaxed. Its not what you imagine when you plan your wedding, but in light of the situation everything was made so much better by the staff and service. Thank you to the managers Dave and Charlotte, and a special shout out to our waiter on the day, Nick!

Recently came across this little gem on a day out in Wales and were traveling home. In light of the current situation I think they did a wonderful job in ensuring customers and staff felt safe with their Covid procedures. Elena ( I think was the lady’s name )was wonderful throughout. Warm welcome and excellent service We had the fajitas and steak which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Was hoping to try a pud but were so full I had to give it a miss - now have an excuse to go back well done to all

My wife and I have just returned home having spent a week in this place which is ideally located for access to The Gower Peninsula, Pembrokeshire Coast and The Brecon Beacons and we did all three with ease.Previous reviews barely do it justice as from the moment we arrived the attention to detail was second to none with temperture checks and a signing in log for everyone entering the premises and sanitiser dispensers at the entrance and around the building.Our room was spotless and maintained daily during our stay and a comfortable bed made for a great nights sleep.The restaurant had solid partition screens between each table and the quality of the food be it breakfast or the excellent Sunday Lunch or extensive dinner menu was all of a very high standard.But what really sets this place apart are the staff who were the most cheerful, friendly and helpful team you could ask for.We highly recommend The Fountain Inn be it for a Staycation or just to treat yourself to a really good meal.

Greatly enjoyed the experience and the cleanliness spot on everywhere within and out of the building. Battered Chicken to start and Beer Battered Fish for main both of my meals were faultless for my taste and presentation great. Lovely restaurant to come to with friends or family.

We have just had Sunday lunch at the fountain while enjoying a visit to the area. The food was lovely and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend and definitely return if in the area again.

We visited on Thursday evening, 20th of August and had a great experience. We had the wrapped chicken in leek and cheese sauce and the lasagne for mains and both dishes were excellent. Food was tasty, well presented and ample portion size.We also shared a starter and dessert; again both very high quality. This was our first time at the Fountain for a number of years but can see it becoming a regular and first choice for eating out. Superb all around.

Visited the Fountain Inn Pontardulais with my husband today. We were more than impressed with the social distancing measures that they had in place. After visiting another restaurant last week it was clear that every measure possible had been put in place to secure the safety of both staff and customers! One way system, plenty of hand sanitizers, screens used as room dividers, they’d even measured 2m with the outdoor seating area. If you want somewhere to go for beautiful food served by staff that can’t do enough for you, with peace of mind that your safety comes first, then The Fountain Inn Pontardulais is the place to go.

Our fav restaurant and we are so happy to be back after COVID. Our Waitress Jordan was so polite and helpful. We witnessed another table be very rude (behind the new screens they have in place for safety) - myself and partner were so shocked. We stared at each other with mouths open at the rudeness of the customer but I must say Jordan handled herself wonderfully and so polite. I just want to say thank you for the service. The meal was soooo worth the wait through lock down. Food was great and the service was also! Thank you so much. Hope you are all safe and well. I also want to say the safety steps you have taken for staff and customers are incredible. Sorry I don’t have any pictures of the good but we were too excited. The beef medallions, sautés and cheesy garlic bread were to die for

Prices have gone up considerably since last visit. There was a general consensus of opinion that the prices were over inflated for a lunch time meal, despite the 50% August offer. The battered fish was very well done which meant it was dry and chewy.

Excellent night out for my wife’s birthday. So much respect for all the hard work that has gone into making both staff and customers as safe as we can be. And so very good to be back! Highly recommended!

Had a great lunch inside on Wednesday, two couples together but socially distancing. The distancing measures worked really well, our food was excellent as usual. Even wearing PPE, the staff were so friendly and helpful, we all enjoyed our visit so much. Looking forward to our next booking

What an amazing night. Food and staff were on point especially elise and nick who was our waitress and waiter.. Food was more than enough and was utterly amazing.. And nice to see that they are goin by rules to keep the business goin. Will definitely be goin again.

Have been here a few times, first time was fab but the past 2 times not so good, probably won’t go again. Ordered the beef brisket and was very clear it has been cooked, frozen and reheated. Such a shame that the food quality has dropped when the pub is very nice. Must be difficult competing with the lovely pubs in the local area.

Went on web site to confirm set lunch at £9.95. Arrived at Inn to discover that price had increased to £11.95 a 20% increase. Whilst we enjoyed the lunch, service was good we nevertheless feel that the price hike could not be justified. Other places nearby are offering better value for money.

Average - nothing moreCalled in for a meal as hoc; and had high expectations due to recent reviews and the number of awards in show in the dining area. The pub itself is modern and spotless. Ordered a chicken breast in leek sauce forme and 10oz gammon for my daughter. Mine was average at best. Small breast of chicken with a watery tasteless sauce. The salad had obviously been standing for some time as it was ‘yellowing’ , however the home cut chips were good.Daughter’s gammon was a good size but was slightly over cooked and over blackened in parts.One of those meals that are not good, yet not bad enough to sent back. A pint of Stella and coke brought the bill to over £33 so not cheap. Overall we were disappointed !

We booked the restaurant part of the pub on a Saturday night expecting it to be busy and service likely to be a little slower, but not a bit of it.Staff were really friendly throughout and service quick but at our pace.We ordered from the main menu but specials were available. The food was hot and well presented with plenty of veg and choice of potatoes and delicious We chose house red which was great.Value for money -yes Will be heading back again and using the outside space in the summerYou can also stay in B&B style accommodation with on site parking.

We called into this restaurant on a thursday afternoon and ordered from the lunchtime menu and have to say that the quality and portions of both starters and deserts were very generous and tasty!!!The service of the staff was excellent and our waitress (a spanish lady sorry we didnt catch her name) in particular was again really nice.We would thoroughly recommend this lovely place to anyone looking for really nice food at fair prices.

Ate here with my wife on a Saturday night the restaurant was very busy with a lovely vibrant atmosphere the food was excellent and the service perfect. It is not a cheap place to eat but well worth every penny.

My wife and I often eat at the Fountain Inn as it is relatively close to our home. The Menu is varied and the quality of the food is first class. My wife is Coeliac and is very well catered for in that the restaurant has a dedicated Glutin Free menu with a good range of dishes to choose from. Service is very friendly and efficient.

We had a family meal here and enjoyed it very much with lovely food and good service. The menu was varied as well.

A fabulous evening had by all for our daughters birthday! Food was delicious as were the drinks and nothing was too much trouble! We were a party of 14 and from start to finish it was brilliant - thank you all you were as always amazing!!! We will see you very soon I’m sure

I was a little sceptical going out for lunch on Christmas day, but WOW, WOW, WOW, absolutely amazing food, the staff couldn't do enough for you and the atmosphere was second to none.

A very average meal for the price we paid, which is very expensive. The look of the place is lovely though.

I have visited this restaurant several times during the past years and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. I have visited twice during the past fortnight,once with friends and today with family. Again, food and service was great. Plenty of choice on the menu and the lunch time deal, two courses for £10 is amazing. The choice and standard of sweets is fabulous. The children's meal deal is good value as well. Today, as we had two one year old children with us, the waitress kindly suggested that they could share one meal. The meals were served on individual plates and there was more than enough food for both. The choice of sweet for the children was great. The serving staff are courteous, attentive and patient. Diolch. Would always recommend this restaurant.

Excellent. Had a bad experience last year while eating out on Christmas day at another restaurant so was keen that we had a better meal this year. The staff at the Fountain Inn didn't disappoint. Excellent, prompt service, well organised and lovely food. Would definitely recommend it. 8

We have lived in Pontarddulais for almost 2 years and ashamed to say this was our first visit, it certainly will not be the last.

Booked a table for 6 persons for 8:30 on Saturday 14/12/19 Although the restaurant was extremely busy our table was ready right on time the waiting staff were very polite and helpful.

My first time at the Fountain Inn and certainly won't be my last. My friend and I had decided to try out the Fountain for a get together before Christmas. My husband worked there in the kitchen many years ago, but until last night we have not dined there. It has a lovely cosy ambience, the staff were all lovely and the food was beautiful. I had the seabass which I must say was outstanding. Everything about the evening was enjoyable and I look forward to returning to the Fountain in the new year with my family. Thank you.

The lunch menu though brief provides excellent food and amazing value for money. Two courses and a soft drink each for us both came to just over £24. I have paid over £7 for Stilton and broccoli soup that has not been as good as this. It was superb, I'd have been happy with three of those and a French Stick. The Beef Brisket in a barbecue sauce was again very good, the beef cooked to a tender richness. The place itself has a reasonably sized car park and the interior is well thought-out, clean and pleasant without being cluttered. The staff all knew their jobs and went about them with friendly efficiency. They also have an extensive a la carte menu which will have to wait for my next visit.

Visited today for Sunday lunch for the second time and it didn’t disappoint! Food was fantastic and the service was exceptional as usual. Callum and Kiera made the visit exerts special and couldn’t do enough for us. Thanks again look forward to visiting soon!

We were recommended to eat lunch here. When we arrived it was almost full - on a Thursday, which is a good sign. Really nicely decorated, clean and tidy too. Service was very efficient and food very good. Our waitress was lovely, friendly and efficient.

Went with family to celebrate a birthday.

Visited today for lunch. Once again we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. We all chose from the lunchtime specials- pate to start, which was delicious. Our mains were Cajun chicken, battered hake, and gammon with egg. Everyone enjoyed their food. Then the most difficult decision of all- dessert. Finally we settled for blueberry burst and salted caramel cake. As I was the only one to opt for a starter the waitress was kind enough to bring an extra spoon so that I could have a cheeky taste of the salted caramel cake! I have to say that it was delicious.

7 of us had a gorgeous three course carvery costing £170. Food was stunning, except when I got half way through my dessert I noticed there was a medium length hair in the middle of my Joes ice cream. Bit let down as staff didn’t offer a refund on the ice cream

Have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions and each time the service food & hospitality has always been of a high standard, would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I would definitely recommend here for sunday lunch. It was tasty; the meat practically melted in my mouth. It was also really filling and the desserts were great. Lovely staff and great atmosphere. Will be visiting again for sure!

Food was awesome and service excellent. Only gave 4 stars because the gammon was too salty, otherwise couldn't fault it! Will definitely come again :-)

Recently had an evening meal here with a large group of friends. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal, the Seabass I ordered was well cooked. The service was good and the staff pleasant and polite. Will visit again soon.

Met for a business lunch in this lovely establishment earlier this month. I was very impressed with the standard of service and attention to detail from the staff. The food was equally as good. I look forward to returning in due course.

Went here for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and I have to say the food was very good. However, the service was a completely disorganised shambles.

7 of us visited for a family celebration. We rung ahead as we were late due to traffic and the staff were really helpful and said they would keep our table for us. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening but that didn't affect the service. The staff were really welcoming and helpful and a few of the waitresses chatted to the children in our group which was lovely. The menu was great, really varied with some stunning looking dishes. Everyone in our party had a beautiful, tasty meal. Would highly recommend. We will definitely be visiting again.

There were 24 of us out for a birthday celebration. The menu is extensive and varied and suitable for everyone. We were all served quickly and efficiently and we all enjoyed our meals. The staff were great. Thank you Fountain Inn we will be back.

My family and I had an afternoon lunch here to celebrate my graduation and it was lovely but was made even better by our server Elena. At the end of the meal we went to order dessert we were sad to hear that the kitchen wasn’t serving the chocolate brownie, while I was away from the table my mother asked again if there was anything she could do and Elena went above and beyond to fulfil her request so thank you very much Elena, it only added to your already wonderful serve. You are an asset to the Fountain Inn! The brownie was gorgeous!

Stopped here for lunch, had the best steak I’ve had in ages. Staff were lovely, service was prompt. Did I mention how good the steak was?

2 of us booked one night for a cycling weekend. From arrival to departure we can’t fault the service. Staff very attentive, gave valued information about cycling routes. Which we listened to and were so pleased we did. Staff in all areas keen to help and chat. The room was perfect, we had our own entrance and parking space outside our room No. 4. Immaculate. We were able to put our valuable bikes in our room. The outside seating area was perfect, especially as it was a gloriously sunny day. Music played low in the background giving it a lovely atmosphere. Tea/coffee in rooms. Perfect. Great location to start our cycling trip, only 10 miles from mumbles via cycle route 4. Keep up the good work.

Recently visited with 4 friends. We ate from the lunchtime menu, all having something different.

Came down to Pontarddulais to visit a relative and decided to call in here for lunch, menu looked good with plenty to choose from including lunchtime specials, we decided though to stick with the normal menu. My wife chose a steak dish which came with fries and separate vegetables, the steak was cooked well but the Veggies were a little incipid and overcooked, a bit like you'd get at a carvery, I chose the Gammon with fries and a small portion of salad on the plate, gammon was ok, nothing special but what disappointed me was the small salad, it looked like it had been chopped up days before, browning lettuce, dark slices of cucumber, maybe it had been left somewhere hot but for me this item should not have been served.

We've driven past the Fountain so many times and had never called in until recently. We have been missing out! We've had a midweek meal consisting of steak for me and bass for my wife, both meals were faultless. We visited again today with family for Sunday lunch and no-one could fault the food. They were very busy, in fact looked fully booked, so the service was understandably stretched a little but that wasn't an issue.

The room we stayed in was excellent. Very clean bedroom and bathroom the bed was comfy and the bedding and towels were 1st class.

Really enjoyable evening. 7.300n a Thursday and quite busy though not full. I had seabass and the fish was well cooked with a lovely crispy skin. The moule mariner sauce was yummy though I could have taken a few more of the moule. Menu covers most bases and prices range to suit different occasions and pockets Service was faultless and deserved a full on pat on the back. Decor was modern and clean and the well presented,tiered beer garden must be buzzing on the balmy evenings.

A lovely environment for a variety of occasions. Sectioned off areas make it seem cosy, lovely decor, very clean, service is excellent and staff are very friendly and helpful. Lunchtime specials are great and there is a wide variety of other options on the menu if preferred.

Came here as it was recommended by a friend , was impressed with the deco and it felt romantic , had 3 course meal , starters were stunning , I would recommend the cockles, mains were spot on , the rump steak was cooked to perfection, finished with a fondu for two :)

My wife and I called in at The Fountain Inn Restaurant around lunchtime on 19 April - Good Friday. I asked at the bar if they had a table for the two of us for lunch. Immediately, a person (whom I assumed to be the manager) approached and told me that she was unable to serve me food! When I asked why, she said that it was because I had posted a bad review about The Fountain in Tripadvisor! As I didn’t personally know the woman I asked her if she knew my name and she correctly said my surname, which was surprising as I had no idea who she was! It was true that some time ago I had put up a review about The Fountain on Tripadvisor which included criticism about the food and service that we’d had on that occasion. (Later that day I checked the date of that review and was astonished to find that it was posted back in October 2013!). We decided to leave and had lunch at a nearby pub/restaurant.

This is our local pub/ restaurant and every time we visit, we leave feeling full, happy and very grateful to have such an amazing place on our doorstep. The food is freshly cooked, homemade and delicious and the staff are friendly, warm and go above and beyond for customers. We recently visited and the staff surprised my husband with a pudding, Birthday candle and song, to celebrate his Birthday. The Fountain is a true gem.

I honestly would of thought for the standard abs the price of food you would run out of choices on the menu. I came for the lamb, it wasn’t on such a shame I had asked for the beef that wasn’t on... being a Tuesday I would of thought Monday was catch up from the weekend and cook. Such a shame with the inconsistency it really lets you down.

Group of eight of us visited for my Dads Birthday. I am a coeliac and vegan, and they were more than happy to accommodate. I had the five bean chilli and it was AMAZING! Everyone else had different meals and really enjoyed their meal (especially the fountain burger and steak). Dessert was good quality with a wide range of options (even gluten free and vegan)

Excellent food,wonderful staff. The service is second to none,wonderful atmosphere,open fronted kitchen and that is only Sunday lunch. Through the week there is an excellent mid day menu,well worth a visit.
