Fab place ,reasonably priced dishes,will return.

Went for a lunch for my 40th birthday with my husband. All I can say is WOW! The 2 ladies serving us were so sweet and pleasant. The food was next level. I had the chicken au poirve which was delicious. And the battered cauliflower side dish was something else. I'm now addicted to it! Best meal and experience I've had in such a long time! Fantastic place. I would highly recommend!

Ate here on a work visit. Great restaurant with lovely staff. Had the hanging mixed meat kebab which was good. However couldn't tell the difference between the pork and the lamb. Good little spot though and would go back if in the area.

A disappointing visit sadly, to summarise: the front of house staff were mostly excellent and kind enough to replace the first dish I chose which was inedible, and the second dish was slightly better but still lacking. All dishes were bland and some poor quality. Seasoning was to be brought by the staff but never arrived. Arrived home feeling unwell. In full detail: We visited for valentines, to start we ordered fried squid, most of the squid was edible, however all were overcooked to various extent and had the typical rubbery texture common with overcooked squid. That being said, the batter was nice, and the accompanying sauce was good. We also ordered garlic bread with cheese which was nice, no issues there. For mains, I ordered the seafood rice which had several problems unfortunately. I've never sent a dish back before in my life but this was the first time I felt I had to. The fish included are not mentioned on the menu, however upon arrival it appeared to be a mixture of mussels, prawns, squid rings, and large chunks of another fish I couldn't identify portioned into fillets about 5-10cm long and triangular, rice and broth. The mussels were fine, if a little bland, the squid rings were bland and rubbery again, the rice and broth were also bland and watery. The fish was also very rubbery, to the point where I could not cut it with any of the provided cutlery, and after giving it a chance to be able to identify from taste, it was also bland and I couldn't figure out what fish it was. The waitress informed us she would bring salt and pepper to the table, however this never arrived, and personally If paying £30-40 per person I would expect the food to be seasoned by the chef before being served anyway. I felt this first dish was very poor and had to send it back, very disappointing as the reviews for this place are excellent… a bad day maybe. I instead ordered a simple sirloin steak medium rare and gave the food a second chance, the steak was served quickly which was appreciated. This was served closer to rare/blue, which I don't mind but not what I ordered, and with the entire fat cap which had not been seared much if at all, proving to be chewy and difficult to cut even with a steak knife. The steak was seasoned however, and the peppercorn sauce was good. This dish came with the standard sides of deep fried cauliflower, potatoes and peas. The cauliflower used a similar if not exactly the same batter for the squid which gave it a nice flavour. The peas and potatoes were bland. The manager has sincerely apologised for the situation following my review and invited me to return and try again, the staff have all been very kind thus far so I will take them up on this offer and update my review afterwards, hopefully with a better experience.

Terrible service, food and drinks not served until 1.5hrs after we sat down, no drinks menu provided at the start and dirty glasses on the bar absolute nightmare. Food portions were pathetic as well I would’ve felt better to pay 1/3 the money to go harvester

Pesadilla de San Valentín Terrible servicio desde el principio. Nos sentamos al lado del bar lleno de vasos sucios. Tardé más de una hora en hacer un pedido. La comida llegó seca y masticable. No pude conseguir un vaso de agua no mencionado postre. Decepción masiva, desperdicio de dinero y no volvería!

Valentines nightmare Terrible service from the start. We sat next to the bar full of dirty glasses. Took over an hour to make an order. Food arrived dry and chewy. Couldn't get a glass of water not mentioned dessert. Massive disappointment, waste of money and wouldn't be coming back !

Así llegó San Valentín día 5. ¡15 pm! Pedido cosmopolita y vino tinto! 25 minutos más tarde todavía esperando bebidas. ¡Muchas otras parejas mirando alrededor esperando sus entrantes y la red eléctrica, etc.! ¡Bebiendo tus bebidas muy despacio! Eventualmente después de 35 minutos salen nuestras bebidas! 2 vinos blancos! ¡Nos fuimos! NUNCA MÁS! ¡Si vas a hacer una noche de San Valentín emplea a más de 3 personas por favor!

Terrible servicio, principal no se sirve hasta aproximadamente 2 horas después. Sentado a las 20: 25 y principal es sólo aquí por 22 : 15 . Absolutamente ridículo. Las bebidas no se sirvieron hasta prácticamente una hora después de que nos sentamos. Porciones patéticas también con el kebab. No recomendaría Nando’s no sería una mejor comida de San Valentín. El restaurante ni siquiera estaba ocupado

First visit to Madeira today. The special lunch menu is amazing value. I had chicken with pepper sauce, the chicken was soft and succulent and the sauce was so tasty. Lovely ambience and attentive waiting staff. I highly recommend and will be back.

Last night my wife and I visited Madeira Restaurante where we had a fantastic meal.I had a fillet steak and my wife had sword fish.It was all cooked to perfection.The staff could not do enough for us..I highly recommend a visit here..It’s a great atmosphere.

The service / waitress not good at all. No experience/ overwhelmed and not at her job. The steak was try and overcooked. Fish was ok but nothing special.

Atmosphere is nice and cozy. Seafood is not highly recommended, I ordered swordfish, decent portion but was so dry! Sardines are very salty, Grilled squid and white bait as starters were average.

I had the ribs to stay followed by the rib eye for main and it was fantastic, would highly recommend a visit

Visitamos Madeira esta semana para una comida previa al concierto con amigos. Teníamos el menú de Navidad establecido que tenía un montón de opciones, entre nosotros pedimos diferentes platos y todos dijeron lo encantadoras que eran sus comidas. Los pasteles de pescado de bacalao eran preciosos y el bistec estaba perfectamente cocinado. Los cócteles eran encantadores también. La decoración es acogedora, cómoda y tradicional. Definitivamente llamaría de nuevo.

Really nice food, good atmosphere. Was busy being close to Xmas and lots of birthday parties. Great place for a special celebration. Monkfish comes highly recommended. Skewers were lovely

What can I say but disappointing! We came here yesterday for our works Christmas so. There were 12 of us total and, when we arrived at 5:30pm, the restaurant was pretty empty. We were seated downstairs where there were no other guests and there were a few tables full upstairs. 2 of our guests were stuck in traffic due to Storm Darragh so we decided to order drinks whilst we waited. The staff said this was fine. Firstly, we noted that there were no Christmas crackers or anything to suggest this wasn't just a normal night. It then took over 30 mins to get out first round of drinks, by which the other 2 guests had arrived. The starters took at least half an hour to arrive and were extremely average. Some had prawn cocktails (like lettuce on a plate, a handful of prawns and sauce) some fish cakes which looked more like 3 measly chicken balls, a melon starter in a cocktail glass! and garlic bread which was, well, big standard garlic bread. I'd also ordered 2 jugs of tap water which took 45 mins and 3 reminders to get (and then we only ended up with 1!) It then took an hour to receive our mains which were 5 lots of chicken skewers, 5 steaks, 1 salmon and 1 vegetarian pasta. There were 3 small metal trays of like warm potatoes and 3 small trays of soggy battered cauliflower and peas. The only saving grace was that each steak was cooked well...but that's it. By 8pm, the main plates were finally starting to be cleared away, we all hadn't had another round of drinks we ordered and we had to leave as it took 2 hours for 2 courses and we had other things booked elsewhere. Thankfully we were given a discount for only receiving 2 out of 3 courses but, even at £30 a head, it was a rip off. Luckily the rest of our night was enjoyable but the poor food and even poorer service definitely put a dampener on things.

Soy una persona muy exigente cuando se trata de mis filetes. Me gustan mis filetes azules y el que tengo era perfecto. Bonito y perfectamente preparado. La calidad de la carne era excepcional. El servicio y el ambiente son perfectos. Vaya lugar. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo cuando en el barrio. Gracias.

Hermosa comida, encantadora selección en el menú de entrada a la hora del almuerzo y un principal por £ 16 2 de nosotros tuvimos espaguetis para empezar que era delicioso y piping caliente uno tenía sardinas a la parrilla, y merluza y salmón para la red todos cocinados a la perfección! Muchacha joven y muchacho joven que nos sirve en 19 / 11 / 24 muy agradable espero que sus son apreciados ❤️

Disfrutamos mucho cenando allí. Todos tuvimos una principal, y vino con lado de patatas asadas, coliflor en masa y guisantes. Mucha comida, seguro. Tomé el pollo Al Portugués. Delicioso. No reservamos (viernes por la noche, fiesta de 3 ) , tienen un montón de espacio - habitación grande abajo también. La decoración era bastante rústico. Muy bien. El personal era educado, servicial y amable.

Creo que sólo trataron de alimentarnos hasta la muerte. Sin embargo, el personal encantador y la comida excepcional frustraron su astuto argumento, y luchamos contra las sardinas, los peces monje y el pollo, luchando juguetonamente con suficientes patatas salteadas y coliflor rebozada para alimentar a un equipo de fútbol. La venganza se sirvió fría: helado, Pasteis de Nata y tarta de queso. Una de las mejores comidas que he tenido en el Reino Unido en mucho tiempo; encantador.

First time in Swansea and Madeira restaurant. Convenient for Dragon Hotel. Easy booking process. Warm welcome on arrival. Service was superb right through the meal. We ordered Cataplana and was extremely good. Highly recommend

From start to finish the evening was marvellous and the food was great for all of us. The servers were very professional and enthusiastic about the food on the menu. Can't wait to return soon.

Visited on the 21/09/2024 for my Partners Birthday we I had the Portuguese ribs as a starter and she had the pate both big portions and were very nice for our mains we had the Cataplana de Casa which was A lot and was very good, we did not need desserts. Great place will visit again.

Been here many times and I’ve always enjoyed. I can certainly recommend for starters the scampi, garlic mushrooms and Portuguese Pork Ribs (Pictured). I’m more or a meat eater than fish so I usually go for the chicken or beef skewers. You can get cauliflower in batter better anyway as well.

First time at Madeira after a recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. The steaks were superb and the prawn and monkfish espatadas was delicious. Generous portions and friendly professional service. Will add to our list of favourite restaurants. Definitely worth a visit!!

The restaurant has it all: Great food at reasonable prices, fabulous staff and it is spotlessly clean We had ribs and mushrooms to start ( the ribs could have been tastier) Then two chicken dishes; I had the Chicken Algarve (with ham and cheese ) and it can with sauté potatoes, peas and cauliflower. Delicious Washes it down with a bottle of house red (pictured) Which I can highly recommend.

We went her for the first time with our two friends , we had a fabulous evening . This place is a hidden gem as the food is to die for. We all had steaks cooked in different sauces , and all of us said how succulent they were . The portions they give you are huge !! The dishes come with sauté potatoes and vegetables, one of which is their speciality cauliflower in a crispy batter , absolutely delicious. The starters are also delicious, we were too full to eat desserts but they looked lovely . The staff are so warm, friendly and welcoming and can’t do enough for you . We will definitely return here soon , hopefully highly recommended.

A wonderful experience every time and very reasonably priced.

I just don’t get this place. It’s basically deconstructed kebabs in the main. Small portions. I had the monkfish and prawns. Well 2 prawns to be exact. I thougt the waiter was going to have my eye out with the spit thing at one stage. It wasn’t expensive but I was just underwhelmed by the entire experience and won’t rush back.

Been going here a few times a year for many years. Been again today, food and service very good as usual. Best value 2 course lunch in Swansea.

Normally food is lovely but customer service needs ALOT of work, very tense atmosphere, had to ask for water 5 times. Was not a relaxed atmosphere at all. After spending over £300 they charged us for extra items which we did not order and refused to take off the bill. Will not be returning

Really good lunch menu here - we had the chicken espetada, chicken piri piri, chicken au poivre and chicken Portuguese style. Very tasty, sizeable portions and a great overall experience.

Haven't been for a while bit so pleased it's still fab 😀 great staff, lovely food/wine & still very reasonable.

Food was OK. Hot starter was microwaved as cold in certain parts. Main the same, vegetables had been Microwaved and again cold in parts.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and explained the dishes on the menu and helped us to choose the dishes to suit our likings The food was delicious and can't wait to go back

Went for a lunch time meal and was not disappointed. The restaurant was quite busy but there were plenty of staff available and they did not seem to be rushed. We had not been for a little while so it was nice to see that the standards had not changed from out last visit last year.

Been visiting here for years, had a break due to poor service, re visited last night, food was very poor steak over done so returned it, second one came full of fat I couldn’t eat it still charged full price even though they said they wouldn’t, didn’t like to say as I don’t like complaining, main course came while we were still eating our starters, staff friendly but not trained and don’t understand English enough, sadly will be a long time before we return again

Definitely one of my favourite places to visit so far this year. The restaurant is well laid out, atmospheric and cosy; perfect for either an intimate dinner for two or a family group meal. The menu has authentic food from Madeira and the skewered meat has to be tasted to be believed. Yum! Service was fantastic, so friendly, helpful and fast. Will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

First trip to the restaurant. The food was excellent, staff were polite, courteous and very prompt with the food service. Overall a very good experience.

Love this place, food is always excellent , whether your have loads of starters, or their fish, or hanging skews, and all the sides that come with them, house wine really good, service excellent every time I come , atmosphere is cool, every town should have one of these places ! The food was good, I had the swordfish and want to try the espetadas next time. Would love to see stronger flavour maybe. Friendly and welcoming staff and vibrant atmosphere.

Great Portuguese restaurant. Well presented and tasty menu as well as a selection of excellent wines. Highly recommended.

Disappointed in the flavour of lamb. Didn't feel seasoned well and lacked proper sauce to go with it. It's pricey given that it was just lamb. The sides they gave were peas( boiled), fried cauliflower and potato which again felt bland. My partner enjoyed his veal portuguese. Sides were as per what I described above. The waitress didn't advise on dishes to order which would have helped us make a better decision. Grilled lamb was not a good idea. House red wines were great.

Came in on Valentine’s day, immediately it seemed like no one wanted us there. We were sat at a large circular table when there was only myself and my partner. Lots of servers, but still took ten minutes to get us two lemonades with only two other tables in? No concept of sections, after ordering our drinks two other servers asked us if we wanted drinks. No time for chitchat, we ordered and within ten minutes our food had arrived on comically large plates. Food was nice, but as soon as I took my last bite and put my cutlery down, my plate was taken and the cheque was put down. We were in and out in less than 50 minutes. Really bizarre experience.

The restaurant was friendly and accommodating Nice food choices really, really busy on the evening we visited Sat 24th February, but all was organised and staff calm.

Had an amazing time celebrating my husbands 70th Birthday on Saturday. Couldn't have been better, and the staff were really top class.

We had a fantastic time - great food, a varied selection of drinks, fabulous staff and a vibrant atmosphere.

Visited on a Saturday night and it was quite busy, there was a vibrant atmosphere, service was excellent and the food was outstanding it took me back to when I was in Portugal last summer. we will definitely visit again.

Food was dry and tasteless. Overcooked meat and fish. Lobster spaghetti was like super noodles watery and tasteless. Overpriced and very overrated. Would never recommend the place and one to be avoided

Myself and my husband hadn't visited Madeira Restaurant for about 3 years. We had forgotten how pleasant it was and the food and service was very good. We shall definitely visit again soon.

My wife described this place as being nice, friendly, with a good choice menu , she visited with a group booking to celebrate an occasion, there is parking opposite the restaurant, in a multi storey car park.

Just returned to our hotel after eating here. Overwhelmed with how good it was. The food was top class. Portions too big for us and we couldn’t finish everything. I had the biggest salmon steak I have ever seen served with beautifully cooked veggies. Husband had veal in a lovely sauce. Our starters were second to none but sadly no room for dessert. The staff were lovely and so friendly and wine superb. We thought value for money all round. If you are in or visiting Swansea do not miss the chance to eat here. You won’t be disappointed.

Great food seafood & rice was amazing

Service was good and very friendly ,but I think that the standard of food is not what it was soup no flavour had chicken for mains was just OK,but the surprise came when I was charged £9.20 for a glass of wine when I asked if they had over charged was told yes it was the correct price so won't be going there again anytime soon .
