Full service restaurant meal service closed since Christmas 2022. Now reopened as a coffee shop serving snacks such as baguettes. OK for coffee but you can't get a full meal anymore

Delightfully tasty lunch, in an unexpected location. Who would think to find this oasis above a clothes shop ? Small menu but full of variety. All cooked fresh. Wonderful coffee.

I visited for breakfast with a friend, having told him that the food was stellar, we both left disappointed. There's a newcomer in the kitchen, very pleasant and helpful but too slow and (on the basis of this meal) not much of a cook. The griddle ruined eggs were awful, the black pudding looked raw, the plates were cold, (in an unheated room the food quickly goes cold). I was happy to pay the M-Bar premium for exemplary food but I can get a brekkie without star quality at many other places in town for a lot less. Management needs to sort the kitchen out before losing too much trade! p.s. You shouldn't refer to 'eggs' on the menu if it's just an 'egg'.

Lovely food, and service. I'm vegan and they actually made a dish that was not on menu? It was delicious. I think that is a good sign of an excellent chef, who can think on their feet and make anything from whatever they have at the time in the kichen. very impressed. highly recommend.

Today was my first visit here and it certainly won’t be my last. The warmth of the staff was lovely to experience and they seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. We both had the Poke Bowl with halloumi and it was a stunning mix of flavours and textures. It was packed with gorgeous ingredients and was the best lunch I’ve had in a long time. I look forward to trying their breakfasts which I’m told are exceptional. As others have already said, it is indeed a hidden gem!

My first visit in a long time, I took a few friends to brunch. Excellent service, food and ambience. Loos are desperately in need of an upgrade. My friend who was a qualified Chef and who has worked in Michelin starred restaurants commented upon the quality of the food. Everything was very fairly priced. Our visit to this establishment was informed by the displayed food hygiene rating of 4/5 (Good).

You should eat here. I’ve just had a very tasty Roast Lemon Cod with Chorizo and Pea Hash plus Samphire washed down with a lovely lager. Excellent.

There are hidden gems and then there are HiDDEN GEMS and this is one. Tucked away upstairs in a clothes shop, but don’t be put off the service and food are both outstanding and really great value for money. Don’t miss this if your looking for a great lunch.

Lovely cafe with a warm welcome from the staff. Beautifully cooked sea bass and more than happy to make adjustments if needed and indeed, even offered. The oven baked sea bass on a bed of noodles was absolutely delicious served with a glass of chilled wine was all that was needed on a hot summer day. The chef ( sorry I didn’t get names) was very friendly and obviously knows her regulars. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will be visiting when I next visit Swansea. Thank you for a lovely lunch and helping me while away an hour before my appointment.

We were pointed in the direction of this lovely little restaurant by the owners brother and he was right. It was a gorgeous lunch in a lovely bright and welcoming dining room. For starters we just chose the garlic focaccia and it was delicious. I chose the steak, cooked to perfection along with greens and potato dauphinois all steaming hot. My sister had the duck, slightly pink and apparently very tender. There was a little wait in between the starters and mains but the serving staff apologised and offered us another glass of wine on the house, ( which we obviously accepted) but the wait wasn’t overly long. Would definitely return and no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Called today for lunch with hubby and grandson (late as usual) arrived in time for a coffee. Staff are always cheerful and efficient. I was disappointed to hear that Holly had left as she was such a credit to the restaurant. But I’m sure the new girl will soon fit it and be just as cheerful. As for the food hubby had the lamb and I was really envious of his portion size - three big chops - i had a bite and it was delicious. I on the other hand had the steak which was also delicious but very small for a steak. I’ll go for the lamb next time. I had room for a dessert - a brownie with ice cream but hubby didn’t (I wonder why). I’d also recommend the Welsh cider !

Visited 10th December for work Xmas meal, OMG, food amazing and staff were really fabulous, couldn’t do enough for you. Also 2 vegans in party were really impressed with their meals

Whilst staycationing I came across a top 45 restaurants in Swansea list, this place caught my eye so we headed on down. Tucked away inside a clothes shop is this little gem! A warm greeting, followed by some really good cooking. Was great to chat to the chef and manageress after we had eaten also. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone heading this way, and will definitely return on a future visit to Wales

Great food, reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere. Attentive and friendly staff. An all round great experience. Small dishes, shared plates and substantial meals all from smallest of kitchens that is open plan. A secret Swansea location for lunch.

Excellent small plates menu - the best fillet I've had in a long time, and the truffle fries are amazing. Great selection of wine and cocktails. Superb staff, very knowledgeable warm and welcoming. Can't wait to return.

M-bar is an elegant restaurant in the city centre within a designerwear store, and the food really is sensational. They serve great wine too and all at very reasonable prices. I cant recommend it highly enough. Will definitely revisit soon.

My husband and I eat here regularly and always enjoy our meals, Claire and the great addition of Woody who joined just before lockdown are brilliant chefs and friendly including Gill and her daughter who always give great service with a smile. They are all lovely to talk to but always got to drag my husband away so they can get on with doing their great jobs...well done guys!!

Had always looked at calling into the M Bar for a lunch and was so glad that I did today. Great value food which is presented really well and tasted delicious. Our party of 3 all had something different and all of the meals had clean plates by the time we finished. The Eat Out to help out scheme by the government provided a 50% reduction in the cost but quite honestly these meals would have been great value even at full price.Will definitely be back soon

Had two dishes from this place now on two occasions for lunch. Risotto and the lamb on flatbread. Both excellent, really tasty and swift service. Can’t believe I hadn’t been here before but definitely on the return hit list now!

Had the creamy Tuscan style salmon with sun dried tomatoes and spinach with crushed potatoes. It was excellent and a very tasty lunch. The staff were extremely polite and the service was excellent.

Popped in for a light bite and was told they’d be closing in 5 minutes but not a problem and despite looking like they were closed the staff were more than hospitable. I had the chicken Forestiere which was the best think I’ve tasted in a long time and despite it being a lunch time quick bite you’d be happy to have paid double the price for an evening meal. Great service and great food at a very, very good price!

We have been told about this restaurant many times, decided today to pay them a visit, and we weren't disappointed! Fabulous menu, including a Christmas dinner(with all the trimmings) which I had, it was absolutely stunning. My friend had the salmon fish cakes, fresh salmon, home made. Delicious! The M -Bar is well worth a visit, excellent Main's and desert menu. Staff are so nice and very friendly. So next time you are in town, wondering where to get a nice meal and excellent service, try The M-Bar, you will not regret it!!

Warm welcome and excellent food! Great value menu, food was tasty and well presented and the service was friendly, polite and helpful. We will be going back to try the breakfast or to enjoy another delicious lunch. What a lovely discovery!

In order to get to the restaurant you have to pass through a clothing store and then go up the stairs, might seem a bit weird, but it's worth it. The breakfast absolutely delicious, I recommend the number 3 menu for breakfast. Great service and value for money!

Not easy to find above a clothes shop this is a remarkably good place for lunch in town.We each had a superb hake dish which was freshly prepared and well presented, and remarkable value at under £8 - followed by another inexpensive tasty home made desert. Friendly and personal service in a pleasant restaurant this is an experience to be repeated, now that we know where it is. Just a shame it is not open in the evenings.

It's definately worth seeking out this marvellous cafe / restaurant. I'd challenge anyone to find a better quality lunch for these prices. Always served with a smile, and willing to make adjustments for awkward customers (me).

We came here for lunch after reading the reviews and had a fantastic feed. The prices of the dishes is incredibly reasonable (all £7/8 and they even do 2 course set menu for £10!). The location is very strange in the back of a designer clothes store, but once you're in the restaurant you don't feel like you're in a shop. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I had the lamb, spinach and chickpea curry served with rice and a small naan. It was pretty spicy but absolutely delicious and clearly homemade. My partner had the chicken with a creamy chorizo sauce on a bed of crushed potatoes and salad which he really enjoyed. We were too full for dessert but the cake selection did look lovely. Really recommend a lunch visit here.

With a great string of 5* reviews I was expecting something a little more grand than a cafe on the first floor of a ladies clothing shop. Its tucked away in the corner and has the feel of a latter day 1960's department store restaurant. There weren't many diners eating the day we went. Food was not bad, nothing exceptional, the sort of thing you might make for yourself midweek. The waitress was very welcoming and it certainly wasn't expensive. Can I recommend? Yes, but don't go there expecting fine dining.

OMG - I had a breakfast to die for! Rustic bread, avocado, halloumi, poached egg, tomato and chilli chutney. It was delightfully tasty and each mouthful had to be savoured. The only let down was the last mouthful, as it was delicious. A breakfast I would never have thought of putting together, it was wingding eat. It set me up for the day and inspired me to eat healthily (that day). The menu on the whole was very interesting and the choice for me was difficult. The lunch menu is equally appetising and there is a lunch time deal available. Don't miss this little gem that is hidden upstairs and at the back of the Moda Shop on the Kingsway. The staff are great and the boutique restaurant surroundings are comfortable and professional. Go give it a try

This place is perfect for a quick lunch, every time we have been the food has been really fast but also fresh and delicious! The portions are so generous and so well priced, and the place is always busy which is only a good sign!We love it here and will definitely be back soon.

I visited here with swirl colleague. I was pleasantly surprised. Lovely, relaxed ambiance and friendly staff. The food was reasonably priced and great quality. I had the faggots and my colleague had the linguini. Both dishes were excellent and for £6, you can’t go wrong.

Because of good reviews, we decided to stop in for lunch. The staff was very friendly and helped entertain our 1 yr old and provided a clean high chair. I ordered the baked salmon with risotto and it was delicious, I could eat it everyday and be happy! We were curious about a local dish (welsh faggots)(I swear that's the name of the dish) but not brave enough to order it as our main, but they brought a bit out for us to try and we really enjoyed them! Overall great experience!

Lovely food, Italian chicken is a favourite. Prices are so good too. I’m a regular here. Small cafe but it’s worth eating at.

Visited here for lunch with my girlfriend and her Mum. Service was friendly, venue was nice but most importantly the food was phenomenal. Was told by a member of staff that they change their menu every month, this will mean I will be returning frequently.

Today I ditched my usual service station lunch in favour of remaining in Swansea a little longer. Having found the best rated nearby restaurant, I headed straight(ish) to M-Bar, tucked away inside a clothes shop. The service was warm and friendly, much unlike prevailing weather conditions. I chose the Moroccan lamb followed by whiskey and ginger cheesecake and can highly recommend both options. Despite the relatively small price, the portions are healthy and the meals clearly home cooked. I w asnt expecting a great deal for a pit stop lunch, but M-bar delivered far more than I could have expected. Many thanks to the team.

This was our second visit to this Restaurant and once again we had a fabulous lunch. Can,t understand the negative comments by some people. Great service and excellent value for money. Looking forward to our next visit.

My daughter has now queued for 10 minutes and still not at the cash desk . Why can’t they get more staff and an extra coffee machine . It’s not even as though it’s lunchtime, but it is December abc folk are out doing Christmas shopping. The worse place to call for a coffee !!!!!

I had been to this restaurant a month previously and it was lovely.This time there appeared to be new staff - cook and waitress and the same standard of food was not there.Two of us had the Beef Bourguignon, which was ok but the portion could have been bigger. The biggest disappointment though was the crushed potatoes, very under seasoned - totally bland! Third friend chose the hake and reported that it lacked seasoning too!Will we return? Hope to just hope recent reviews don’t fall on deaf ears.

Been having lunch with friends on a regular basis and seen a few changes of Chefs but the food has always been consistent, unfortunately not now! the portion sizes are smaller and the taste is not as good! shame really as we stuck it out hoping for improvement but looking elswhere now.☹

It gets 5 stars from me.Thai fish cakes were full of fish, freshly cooked, virtually in front of me and tasted lovely. Potatoes were excellent plus salad for £6.95. My two friend loved their pulled pork and steak strips.The service was beyond perfect.The ambience was cafe, relaxed and uncluttered. TV was on and it was all just nice for a ladies who lunch snakette. I would bring my husband here too.The puddings were a huge disappointed being overly rich and sweet but perhaps that just personal taste.Really good find. Will be back. Often. Even on my own.

Called here for lunch after seeing the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. And we weren’t disappointed. We both chose the same the Prawn, cod and sweet corn chowder, which was absolutely delicious. It was served with rustic bread - my only criticism is we didn’t like the butter. Firstly, I thought it was marg but on reflection I think it was just unsalted butter - something we don’t like. Will we call again, yes definitely!

Delicious food cooked to perfection every time, with amazing value. The menu is changed monthly. Cannot review this place enough, this is a must try if you’ve never been. Highly recommend

This is the place we visit every time we want a lunch in the city. The most difficult part is choosing from the menu. The meals are delicious and reasonably priced. The staff are always pleasant and we have never, in all the years of eating there, been disappointed. Hope it doesn't get too popular !!!!!!

Called on Saturday lunchtime. Lovely food, atmoshphere and staff. I had the chicken with chorizo with white wine sauce on crushed new potatoes. My wife had the salmon quiche with new potatoes. Both dishes were excellent - The ginger and Lemongrass presse was also lovely.

Friendly atmosphere, wide choice and good quality of food, very reasonably priced. The location is in city centre.

Slow so very so slow. Thought I have lunch after buying a shirt downstairs. It was very ordinary food but made very mediocre by the slow indifferent service.

Overall I loved the food and the dessert I would definitely come back here again with a few of my mates as I believe they should get the opportunity to taste the lamb shank

Second time having lunch here. Great choice of dishes which seem to change on a regular basis. I had Mexican beef strips salad and hubby had sticky pork. Both delicious. Nice wine and serve Prosecco by glass. Cakes look wonderful will have to try sometime. Friendly staff.

Lovely place to eat in the heart of shopping area, been visiting for quite a few years and never been disappointed, quality of food is excellent, happy to choose anything on the menu, lovely atmosphere and service is first class, as someone else remarked a hidden gem. Car park opposite, worth seeking out , lunch is moderately priced and never rushed, great place !

Here is a gem of a restaurant/coffee shop hidden in the middle of Swansea. Always a warm welcome and a fantastic selection of reasonably priced meals - all a little bit 'different'.A quiet retreat up a fairly steep staircase which some may find difficulty in negotiating - but well worth the effort. I highly recommend it.

Called in here on the off chance whilst working in Swansea for the day, tucked away in the rear of a boutique in Swansea city centreI wanted a healthy lunch, the menu was small but covered all bases really. I ordered roasted houllimi with roasted tomatoes, green beans and salad, this I have to say is one of the best salads I’ve ever had, it was huge, I don’t usually eat that much, I just couldn’t stop, it was divine, just gorgeousMy colleague had strips of steak with crushed potatoes (and something else). I tasted the beef, it was tender and tasted beautiful. Neither of us could believe how much we ate! We both had a Diet Coke, the bill came to just over £17 which was absolutely amazing valueI visit Swansea once a month for work, I will definitely returnFab, I had no real expectations, just lovely honest food

You must search this place out when you go to Swansea. A hidden gem behind a high class clothes shop. The food is more than first class, I had Italian chicken & OH had the hake , brilliant food, well presented, very tasty, a must if you need to eat in Swansea

These guys are the bomb! The quality of their food is far superior to anything else in Swansea for the price at lunchtime. This restaurant is ‘a find!’ They deserve all the accolade that will come.

Visited the M bar today after it was recommended to us by a neighbour.It is inside the Moda shop and although we had passed many times we never realised that this restaurant was insideThe menu is small but varied. The food is excellent quality and not exspensive.The staff are delightful and very welcoming

I often struggle eating out due to food intolerance. When I couldn't find anything suitable on the menu, M-Bar were happy to make me a chicken salad which was packed full of things that I can eat.

Came here for lunch today with a friend and we both had beef strips with peppercorn sauce with veg. The beef was lovely and soft and the sauce tasted amazing. Had a coffee after food which was nice and strong. I was tempted to have cake but I was too full. Somethig to try the next time i return to Swansea.

Moda is a high class/quality fashion/clothes shop but upstairs they have a cafe. Cafe may be the wrong word to use, perhaps a cross between coffee shop and restaurant. You can get a cake and coffee, you can get a meal. It's not very big, but it's light an airy. You also are advised to book. The cooking area is miniscule but the chef does wonders offering a choice of a half a dozen or so starters and mains as well as sandwiches. Cannot fault the quality or the value for money with a two course lunch coming in around £12. Wine is also extremely reasonably priced here.

Marilyn and I had breakfast here over the weekend and it was delicious, I had white of the egg omelet, bacon, coffee, very very nice. Marilyn had poached eggs on toast and she throughly enjoyed also. Then on Monday Marilyn took my daughter and granddaughter there for lunch and again everything was scrumptious, Eliza who is 23 months old had her own small bowl of spaghetti bolognese and she also woofed it all down. If you are in Swansea give it a go please and enjoy.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch on a Monday and followed Tripadvisor advice and Google maps to find this place, upstairs at the back above a high-end shop. Unless you know it's there you'll unlikely to find it as Kingsway runs parallel to the main shopping area. Anyway, the food was very good indeed, all made to order, piping hot and delicious, and very good value for money. The staff were friendly and professional, the decor clean and modern, and the atmosphere relaxing and unhurried. Do give it a go.

I have had lunch in the M-Bar Restaurant many times.On each occasion the food and service have been superb.The menu is always tempting and you know that the ingredients are fresh.I understand chef buys quite a lot in the local Swansea market.The portions are generous and so reasonably priced.The chef and the waitresses are welcoming and are eager to please.FAULTLESS-well done you.

Finally got to try M-Bar after reading such positive reviews. I had the bahgers, mash and onion gravy, best Ive had for a long time . K had the Italian chicken with a white wine cream sauce. Both dishes were superb, cooked expertly and the value for money was the icing on the cake (no....we didnt have cale....no room!!!). We will be regulars here and work throught the menu.....now there's something to look forward too!

I ordered the sausages and my husband ordered the Italian chicken but when the dishes came to the table we had to swap as I would never have got through all those sausages! Both meals were lovely and we both agreed it was the tastiest best value for money we've had in quite a while... So well done M Bar we'll be back next week

Love the food here. In comparison to other lunch menus for £7 this restaurant is the one to beat! Quality of food for the price is undeniable.My problem is, we ALWAYS have a great thirst after eating here as they use SO much salt! After several lunches, we always felt thirsty & 'unwell' afterwards...We came to the conclusion that having eaten here on several occasions, despite the food being fab quality & very tasty... we won't return because of excessive use of salt! Sad but true...

Just back from a fantastic lunch. The food is fabulous and such great value for money and the staff are great. All the main courses are just £6.95 each and the desserts/cake are £2.50. There were 4 of us in the group and we all had different meals - they were all wonderful. I highly recommend eating here, you won't be disappointed.

WOW!! Popped in for a bit of lunch and was so impressed with this venue. Quiet and very clean and lovely friendly staff. We ordered from the short list of choices and I ordered the Chilli Con Carne and my gorgeous wife had the Slow Cooked Lamb & Coconut Curry. Well, the food arrived and was so well presented it was a shame to dig in to spoil the appearance. Went it came to tasting we were blown away as the chunks of beef in my chilli were so tender and cooked perfectly. Both our meals wee excellent value for the £6:95 each. We both had desserts and thoroughly enjoyed them. Highly recommended place to eat.

I was walking past the shop where this is situated & discovered its existence for the first time. I originally was just popping in for a coffee but was tempted to have something to eat. As it was mid to late morning I chose the smoked salmon & poached eggs on ciabatta and I was not disappointed. It was delicious & very good value as it was £4.95 including coffee! Superb cappuccino too. Will definitely visit here again.

Restaurant off main street & only open during daytime hrs but quality of food ingredients & presentation is terrific. Lovin' it!One niggle - why restrict some customers 2 tiny 2 seater tables when outside busy hrs & restaurant almost empty? Highly recommend for great food tho.

This cafe is located on the first floor of an upmarket ladies and men's wear shop called Modo. It's called a cafe / bar but to us the atmosphere was more cafe than bar. It is quite a small space. We called in for a coffee during a break from shopping and it looked as though there were some good food offers. It's closes at 5 PM.

Visited for the first time after hearing great feedback. Great food, good value and good sized portions, can't believe it's cooked in such a tiny kitchen space within a designer clothes shop! We'll visit again, thanks!

Visité por vez 1 calle con un grupo de amigos. No sabía que esperar ya que sabía que estaba en la parte de atrás de una tienda de ropa de marca. Yo pensé que iba a ser una cafetería. Qué sorpresa encantadora, increíble, la comida del restaurante a precios increíbles. La comida merece un 'excelente', todos los entrantes y platos principales aspecto y sabor como algo que espera ser digno de estrella Michelín. Fueron presentadas magníficamente, sabía divino, llena de sabor y las porciones eran muy grandes (tan grandes que sólo tenía 2 campos, donde normalmente tenemos 3) las bebidas eran baratas.La decepción (y el motivo de 4 estrellas no 5) era la camarera. Ella era lamentable y grosero. Ella recoge los platos (tanto entrantes y platos principales) tan pronto como alguien había terminado. Así los platos estaban willy forma ininteligible cuando aún estábamos comiendo. Yo no creo que una sonrisa agrietado todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí.El chef fue muy amable, aunque ella no grita al otro lado de las mesas de la cocina abierta para preguntar si la comida de la gente estaba bien. Ella también tenía un poco de actitud cuando uno de nuestro grupo una pregunta sobre su principal (cuando hacer el pedido). No estoy segura si la actitud era dirigido a mi amigo o a la camarera. La camarera gritó mis amigos pregunta enfrente de nuestra mesa para el chef, quien respondió "se afirma en el menú! "No disfrutar plenamente de nuestra comida y sin duda volveré (espero que habrá una camarera más amable la próxima vez).Estoy de acuerdo con muchos comentarios anteriores, es una joya escondida.

Took the advice and visited for lunch. The place is contemporary, the food is fantastic and the value for money is quite unbelievable. If you are in Swansea...... eat here!!
