Went here for Sunday lunch, first time of visiting and was very impressed. The service was quick and polite and the food was amazing! Would recommend it and will visit again.

Came here for a small family lunch our party included my 23 month Grandson. We all had the roast dinners each of us beef..cooked to perfection medium rare, lamb which my son said melted in the mouth and turkey which his partner much enjoyed. The Yorkshire puds were huge. The vegetables beautifully cooked, lovely roast potatoes and a dish of cauliflour cheese was also an accompaniment plus tasty gravy and plenty of it. The little one had lovely home made plump cod goujons, delicious home made chips and some of the vegetables. He is well into his training of eating at the table with his family, behaved impeccably and ate cleanly. I was amazed that he ate all his food he loved it. My son then wiped his hands and then our little lad made the young waitress laugh when he wiped the table. 'you can come again!' She said. We then enjoyed sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. It was a lovely meal. Very civilised and relaxing. The management even wrote me a very tasteful card.. A nice keepsake. Just a couple of things. There was no English Mustard which I love with roast beef. It was also a very cold day and my sons partner got a blast of very chilly air every time the door to the pub was left open..and some of the patrons were not very considerate on closing this door on their trips in and out...the toilets are in the pub. One or two of the waiting staff whilst well spoken and kindly find it difficult to 'work' the covers and keep track of requests. Trying to get drinks was as issue, 3 times I asked for a large glass of wine .....it was my birthday! My son was driving and wasn't drinking, my sons partner doesn't drink. The young table staff seem to forget these instructions and perhaps need more supervision or training ..this is not a big venue, they didnt seem short staffed. Our art society ate here at Christmas. The food was wonderful but again the dining staff were struggling and we were having issues trying to pay. But these are small matters since they are easily addressed since if all is well in the kitchen and the food is beautiful the rest is easily sorted. I shall definitely return.

Had a fantastic meal here last night for my 50th birthday. The food was delicious. The staff are polite, helpful and friendly. I would rate this place 10/10. If you fancy going somewhere for a lovely meal, then I would definitely recommend The Black Rabbit.

We enjoyed a delightful dinner with friends, savoring one of the most memorable meals I've had in a long time—arguably the best in Bridgend. The culinary expertise of the chefs was evident throughout the evening. The risotto starter was a delightful blend of richness and creaminess. The braised beef main course stole the spotlight, featuring tender steak with a flawless harmony of vegetables and sauces. For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding was nothing short of incredible; unanimously agreed upon by everyone at the table as the best we've ever tasted. While the overall experience was exceptional, the peppercorn sauce on the steaks were far too salty for my partner. I tasted myself and agreed it was very salty. Despite this small glitch, it's worth noting that both steaks on the table were cooked to perfection, a rare feat in Bridgend. We will definitely be returning.

My first visit to The Black Rabbit and what an experience! Wow, Wow, Wow! The moment you walk through the door, you are greeted with such a warm welcome from the Manager, Chefs and Waiting Staff. The decor is cosy and inviting and it has such a lovely ambience. My friend and I opted for the Christmas Lunch Menu. The food was just divine and plentiful. Each mouthful was a sensation to behold. The ingredients are fresh and the cooking and seasoning are perfection. The service is 5 star and all of the staff are attentive. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble and you are always served with a smile! Today was my first visit and it definitely will not be my last. My only complete is, that I wish I had experienced the wonder of The Black Rabbit sooner! Unfortunately, we didn't take photos of the food as it was just too delicious and we couldn't wait to taste it. Thank you to all of the Staff. Merry Christmas to you all.

The Black Rabbit is almost a hidden gem set as it is on a quiet road in the Bridgend suburb of Laleston, but once found the whole eating experience pulls you back time and time again. My wife and I often have Sunday lunch there with other family members, but this week we decided to visit it as a couple on a weekday lunchtime. The main reasons why customers return to any restaurant will include the food, its quality and variety, the general ambience of the place and the customer service, The Black Rabbit scores very highly on all aspects. Listening to the general talk of other customers I get the impression that they feel the same as my wife and I, many are known to the staff and they are treated as friends. If you have yet to visit I heartily recommend that you do, but have a look at the website, I doubt if you will be disappointed.

1st visit tonight, won't be our last. Excellent food, made with quality ingredients. We eat out regularly and the fabulous choice on the menu here made it so difficult to choose! Every dish was incredible, my personal favourite, the sticky toffee pudding. Service was friendly, with a special mention to the young man who was on his 1st night serving, you are doing really well.

I have to say I am a choosey foodie and will travel and pay for good food. The Black Rabbit is the stand out restaurant in Bridgend. Last Friday three of us had food there and we all chose something different to compare. The Brie won the starter, the chicken the main course and the sticky toffee pudding the desert. The food is impeccable. The service is delivered with a genuine smile. The wine is first class and the setting perfectly intimate.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is the best place to east in Bridgend. The food is always exceptional and never fails to disappoint. The quality, flavours and portions are absolutely perfect. The menu changes are great and provide a great variety. The staff are always so polite and efficient. If I could give the place 6 stars I would but instead I would just encourage all to go!

Well another stunning Sunday lunch in what has become our favourite restaurant! Chef Jonathan and co create wonderfully tasty food. The table service is great and nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. The ladies that lunch will be back in December.

We wanted to attend for my wife’s birthday, but by the time we got around to booking , it was full. That’s no surprise as it’s become very popular. As we are regular customers, I took a chance and contacted Jonathan the owner personally to see if he could squeeze us in. Thankfully, he could! The menu has now changed to the winter selection, and it was just as good, if not better than the previous. Every dish was outstanding, with superb flavours. We had an exceptional meal here on Friday night. Service was faultless and the food superb! The chorizo croquettes and pulled pork starters were definitely the highlight! But the mains and desserts were both excellent too. We love the changing menu and feel lucky to have such an excellent restaurant nearby.

After reading reviews and talking to locals we decided to try the Black Rabbit for our 39th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The food was fantastic. We chose the hake and the lamb for our main course and both were fantastic. For starters we had the pulled pork and risotto which were equally good. The service was spot on and a lovely added touch was an anniversary card from the staff. Needless to say this is now our favourite restaurant. We can honestly say that we will be back. Thank you to all the staff for making our day that extra bit special.

Birthday meal with my wife following a round of golf at Porthcawl and we thoroughly enjoyed both! The restaurant is attached to an old and characterful pub just off the main road. The menu says it focuses on local produce and that’s exactly how we found it. Not pages of choices here - one sheet with some lovely options. We chose haddock Kiev and pulled lamb for starters and hake and lamb rump for main courses. All cooked beautifully. Highly recommend it and the service matched the food as well.
