The best restaurants serving Seafood food in Thanet South East

We had the best meal in a very long time at Dory’s, a tiny restaurant/bar, recommended by our hotel. There are a couple of tables, but most seats are bar stools - ours overlooked the kitchen and the chef was very chatty. Every mouthful was a pleasure. We particularly enjoyed hispi cabbage (charred with paprika, crème fraiche and almonds) and mackerel with thinly sliced courgette (apparently the last of the season). Even the bread and butter was exceptional! Sadly we don’t live in Margate, but this is somewhere worth travelling for.

We visited on Sunday 27th October! My 7yr old son has multiple severe food allergies. I asked the young man serving if I could have the ingredients for the battered sausage ( listed as made from a local farmer) he asked the chef if they had the information, the chef looked at me and in a mocking voice said “ground pork” I then said “so absolutely nothing else in the battered sausages except pork”, I explained it’s for my son who has multiple food allergies, he then spoke over me to say “why does he have allergies” I said yes and he said “to what”, I explain he is to about 30 different food and it would be better if I could see the list to which he said he “binned it” meaning the packaging! I asked is he not required by law to be able to provide the ingredients the food he’s serving and he said only the 14 allergens! He then spoke over me saying he can do gluten free or vegetarian I said no as that is the stuff he is allergic to and he just kept talking over me! He was so rude and there is no way I’d recommend anyone with food allergies to eat here, he literally did not care! My son has had his allergies since birth and I have never come across a “chef” like this ever!

Stumbled upon this restaurant whilst on holiday, we had a gorgeous meal in a fabulous setting. Menu was fantastic, I could’ve eaten it all! Would definitely return if in the area again. Really great for all the family.

First visit to this chippy and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both fish and chips. Lovely crispy batter and a nice texture to the cod. The chips were nicely cooked and tasted great. My food was cooked to order and it was worth the wait. Nice service too.

Absolutely amazing, the fish so delicious - perfectly cooked, they even gave me a small portion of chips on the house! And I loved their Greek salad. A must for anyone in the area. Definitely value for money and great tasting food.

Great fish and chips wouldn't use any other

Just popped in for a quick bite to eat, lovely place with all the Xmas decorations up, grub was tasty an presented well. Good people, good place 😎

Enjoyed the meal but didn't really like eating out of a box. Food was a tad greasy but batter was really nice. Decent cup of tea as well.

Bought a large chips to share on the beach - staff were really friendly and the chips were great - very happy! Will visit again

Daughter and Son-in-law just moved to Broadstairs and after a very long day they needed a boost! We all strolled out and headed for this place as they had seating inside. Lovely man welcomed us in. He had all cleaned up - it said it closes at 9 pm we got there at 20 to 8 - but Erman was ready to feed us! We sat inside and toasted our daughter and son-in-law’s new home. The batter on my lovely medium cod was light, crispy and delicious!!!! Husband’s haddock was very tasty. All cooked to order and perfect chips and curry sauce. I think they’ve found their local fish and chip shop!

I’m sorry but I would never go here again! Visiting for the day, as we have many times, and my husband just picked it assuming as it is in a very popular place it would be fine. Sat towards the back, ordered bottle of house wine which was fine but glasses were cloudy and never been wiped after dishwasher so looked dirty all over. Ordered a cod & chips and rock & chips. No rock!!!! We were going to leave but had started the wine and they were doing the food so felt a bit bad if we did. Food came up with no tartare sauce as advertised, but it was freshly cooked and nice. Told to use tartare bottle in rusty holder but bottle was dirty with no top to it, needless to say we didn’t use it. The place is a disgrace, tables all sticky and condiment holders rusty, smell from toilet awful, which was blocked. We did move to get away from smell. Decor was absolutely appalling, not been done for decades by the look of it. Young staff were lovely, our waitress was lovely but the young man just kept running his hands through his hair and he was serving!! Overall not a good experience and not what Broadstairs should be letting go! Needs to be closed and completely refurbished.
