I’m sorry but I would never go here again! Visiting for the day, as we have many times, and my husband just picked it assuming as it is in a very popular place it would be fine. Sat towards the back, ordered bottle of house wine which was fine but glasses were cloudy and never been wiped after dishwasher so looked dirty all over. Ordered a cod & chips and rock & chips. No rock!!!! We were going to leave but had started the wine and they were doing the food so felt a bit bad if we did. Food came up with no tartare sauce as advertised, but it was freshly cooked and nice. Told to use tartare bottle in rusty holder but bottle was dirty with no top to it, needless to say we didn’t use it. The place is a disgrace, tables all sticky and condiment holders rusty, smell from toilet awful, which was blocked. We did move to get away from smell. Decor was absolutely appalling, not been done for decades by the look of it. Young staff were lovely, our waitress was lovely but the young man just kept running his hands through his hair and he was serving!! Overall not a good experience and not what Broadstairs should be letting go! Needs to be closed and completely refurbished.

Living in Kent and often going to the seaside, we’ve always had really good meals here previously, so I actually dragged my husband out of our way to go here. A guy came and took our order and I asked for the southern fried chicken burger and chips (£12.50) and my husband asked for the cod and chips (£14.50). They asked me what sauce I’d like on my burger and I asked for tomato ketchup and mustard. He said “what is mustard? We don’t have this” so I just shrugged and said “Ok, just ketchup then please”. To be honest it wasn’t a big deal. it didn’t bother me but I was surprised that they’d never even heard of mustard when they were serving various burgers on their menu. We also ordered a can of Dr Pepper and some sparkling water. They bought out the can and the water but gave my husband his can and a glass, but didn’t give me one with the bottle of water. I would’ve expected a glass in a restaurant but again, not a big deal. My husband’s cod and chips were brought out but he had no cutlery. We waited a good five minutes and all this time, my husband had no cutlery, while his meal was getting cold, and nobody around to ask. In the end I got up and went and found someone. When my chicken burger eventually arrived, I opened the bun and there was the salad but no burger! The guy then had to come back, to take it away and actually put a chicken burger in it. No apology though! By then we were actually laughing at the lack of service. The fish and chips were fine, although not served with any extras like peas or salad. The southern fried chicken burger was not good at all. First it was not southern fried, it was in a plain wet batter and secondly, it was a thin processed chicken burger that you can probably buy in the cash and carry for about 50p. I definitely could’ve got a better chicken burger at KFC for half the price with better service. The attitude throughout was that they really couldn’t be bothered. No bill was brought to the table when we’d eaten and again there was nobody around to ask. In the end we just went up to the takeaway till and paid. Nobody asked if things were okay and to be honest, I got the impression they really didn’t care if they were or not. Oh and the toilet didn’t flush 😔 Suffice to say we won’t be going there again which is sad when it’s always been a great little place previously. Maybe it’s been taken over… who knows but they’ve definitely lost our custom.

Not impressed. Our two portions of fish and chips had no taste. At £27.50 we thought the food was very expensive and the large portion of cod did not seem very big. We will not use this takeaway again.

We popped in here as on the day we went down to Broadstairs it seemed to be the only cafe open early, ( we'd been on the road since 8am.) Anyhew, we sat down and after a few minutes a young lady came and took our order, she was polite and smiley. The only other people sitting down were a Dad & his young daughter. Our food took about 15 minutes and was very, very nice. I had rock and chips & my husband had the cod. Both pieces of fish were huge and the chips were golden and chunky, best we've had. So, 4 stars for food. BUT, I used the toilet before we left and was very disappointed by the lack of cleanliness. The sink and the back of the loo itself were VERY grubby & obviously hadn't been properly cleaned for a while. This made no sense. The cafe had only just opened and there were 2 serving staff on hand, HOW could they not have had"clean loos" on their to-do list before the place was opened? And before readers get huffy, I was a cleaner myself for 4 years.. So, food fab', staff friendly but for gawd sake stay on top of the cleaning of the toilets!!..

Was not asked to pay till after. Thought my order was called, I went up to pay instead of the staff checking if it was my order I paid for somebody else’s food and they then called out my order after I paid. instead of refunding me I paid my own food and theirs. and the girl behind the counter proceeded to blame me. asking why I came up. This is why you get customers to pay their order first. not after

It was a cold and rainy day and we wanted to have lunch to warm up and we stumbled across this fab fish and chips place just by the cathedral. And I'm so pleased that we did. We were given a warm welcome and sat at a large table with a huge menu full of lovely looking options. All cooked freshly, the food was delicious with their home made tartar sauce made for a very lovely lunch. And I must also say that the portions were very generous. Very tasty!

Went in on Friday for a takeaway to eat on the beach, as we had used this chip shop on previous visits to Broadstairs and liked it. Seems to have changed hands since then, so was concerned it might not be up to scratch. Order taken at door, told it would be 8-9 minute wait, so I went for a walk, Needn't have worried. When I got back it was almost ready. Fish, chips delicious and fresh. Curry sauce great too. Expensive, but fish and chips is no longer a cheap meal.

To be fair the food was ok. But the prices were too high and the portions tiny. I expect to be full after fish and chips, my petite 10 year old was still hungry after her expensive burger and chips: certainly not enough there for an adult. The 'medium' cods looked about the same dimensions as a battered sausage, I promise I'm not exaggerating. £6.50 for what is basically a fish finger and no chips included is a rip off. Mushy peas way too runny, more like soup. As I say, the food was ok, nothing to justify the price tag though. Won't return ever despite being very local, and I definitely don't recommend.

I’m a regular customer to the seafarer and absolutely love there variety of food , always very pleasant and polite , sadly witnessed a very aggressive member of the public enter the premises and started to dictate to the manager that he wanted more portions of fish because he wanted less chips , the manager then said because of the rise in fish prices this can’t be possible as he quite rightly has a business to run and staff to pay , as I said im a regular customer to this fish and chip shop and I can totally understand why prices have risen , this member of the public was very rude , and threatened to send a awful review , which he clearly did below my review , no doubt you will read this , get some manners and respect ur local businesses and not try to ruin one , you pompous moron

We choose to eat here as it was the first fish and chip restaurant we came across; unfortunately it was not a good choice. My beef burger was plain and dry but, even worse, the cheesy chips had minimal cheese. The little cheese that it did have was mostly melted onto the takeaway container. The contents of the takeaway looked like it had been slapped together in a few seconds with very little care. I don’t know Broadstairs well, but I’m confident that you’ll find it difficult to find a worse takeaway. As someone who is health conscious, this was nothing short of a waste or calories. If you are going to treat yourself to a takeaway, certainly look elsewhere!

We've been visiting this restaurant for 12 years. It was always a lovely, homely seaside place with lovely fresh food. Now it's been taken over by a bunch of incompetent and clueless staff. Fish lovely, good cup of tea. £1.90 for can of Dr. Pepper. Waitresses didn't have a clue though. Headless chickens spring yo mind. No desserts offered, despite board in restaurant saying ice cream available and desserts listed on tatty menu. Cheeseburger hard and dry. I mentioned it and the angry chef came and argued with me saying "It's top quality" to which I replied "I don't doubt it was top quality when it started but it was hard and dry, I tasted it myself. Usually he loves burgers". The chef continued to argue then just walked off. Meals delivered to table in higgledy-piggledy fashion. They eventually took £2 off the bill for awful burger. We won't be going back. Toilet dirty, floor covered in water and dirty footprints. Such a shame, it used to be do lovely.

We went here as it was a sit down restaurant, however in hindsight I should have gone to another Fish and Chip shop and braved the Seagulls on the front.1. Mega Expensive. £8.90 for a very small suspicious looking bit of ‘cod’, in artificial yellow batter.2. Chips were inadequate and hard. Came with the meal, but if you wanted a portion it’s £2.503. A tin of coke was £1.70...small tin 330ml really? A case at Bookers is £8.50 for a case of 24....come on. It was verging extortionate, we all have to make profits, but this was ridiculous.Don’t get me wrong, I will pay top prices......however the food has to be top quality. This outlet did not supply quality

We waited around 20 minutes just for chips with no hint of apology or acknowledgements that us & many others were standing around for ages waiting & when the chips finally did arrive they were undercooked & hard, not a hint of crispness! we would have taken them back if it wasn't for the fact we was half way down the road & very hungry, will not be going back!

Unfortunately, the food was awful. The food is cooked to order, which is great, saves waste. The chips were ok, quite a few hard ones in all three meals and the sausages were very herby, not to our taste, but might be to others. Shame, we were really looking forward to enjoying them whilst sitting by the beach watching the sunset. The weather for October was great, it was still 22 when we left at 19:30.

Seafarer has always been a lovely place for fish and chips but sadly, the old faces have gone and with them, the once deliciously fresh, value-for-money, generous meals are no longer served. A glass mug of tea (with tea bag; sugar sachet and 'long life' milk pots) is now served - if fresh milk is requested, an opened, plastic bottle of milk will be plonked on the table. I ordered haddock and the portion of fish provided was unacceptably small, together with the ramekin-size portion of mushy peas. When I complained, an understanding waitress agreed to reduce my bill but a surly, male staff member was confrontational. We're happy to pay for good quality fish and chips and there are plenty more fish in the sea in Broadstairs.

We visited Broadstairs on a sunny June day and decided after wandering for a while that we needed some lunch. As we were at the seaside the answer was simple - fish and chips. We ate the food we bought from here on a bench overlooking the beach and it was delicious. Friendly staff and cheap prices - it was a good choice

We visited on a 'very' hot day in June.We chose this restaurant because if the larger dinning area (compared to others we had passed) and a bonus was the air conditioning - nice and cool in the restaurant.Service was prompt and friendly and the food arrived in good time. Both my wife and I went for the Golden Cod and chips. I also ordered 'mushy' peas, which by chance were enough for two!Really good fish and chips and good quality. The Restaurant is not so easy to find but well worth seeking out. Will happily use again when in Broadstairs.

My family visited on a busy Saturday and as usual the staff were friendly and chatty making you feel welcome even though they were busy. We opted for take away as it was hot and sunny so we could sit by the seafront. Food was presented in a great box which kept it warm whilst we found a bench but also meant your chips didn't stick to the paper. We opted for a variety of things including the sausage, saveloy and fish and all were freshly cooked and tasted lovely. They even have onion vinegar for that extra special tasty chip! Will keep coming back when we visit Broadstairs and just keep up the good work!

I really enjoyed my fish and chips here. It tasted fresh and the chips were cooked to a nice golden color. I also thought the portion size was good, as was the customer service. The staff made every effort to accommodate us as a large group. The toilets were also clean. However, as a piece of constructive criticism, you might want to complement the well-portioned food with plates that actually fit the food. It was hard to move food around on the plate without chips falling off onto the table. Ikea sells some good plain white plates that would do the job. Also, just because it is a fish restaurant, it doesn't mean you have to put fish wallpaper everywhere and a fish tablecloth. I don't want to see Nemo smiling at me while I tuck into cod. Keeping the deco simple, e.g. White, and table covers too, would go miles in improving the look of the restaurant. It doesn't have to be tacky.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Fantastic, freshly-fried fish n'chips all packaged up in a user-friendly cardboard box. Walk 100 yards down the hill to the sea wall and eat to the sound of the waves rolling in. Perfect!

Very good fish and chips but not the best in the area but in the summer it is often hard to get in anywhere let alone find the best and if stuck these are nice and friendly staff with good prices

The food was cooked freshly and I have no complaints over the taste but what is it with the tiny plates? which meant food kept falling off our plates

I visited here on a visit to Broadstairs and was going to have a take-away. However, the restaurant looked good and the queue for take away was quite long, so decided to eat in and have a decent sit down. Very glad I did, as the service was good and the plaice and chips was excellent, nicely helped down with a glass of wine. Why sit on the sea wall and eat your meal, when you can dine in comfort for a very pennies more?

Such a lovely surprise. Fish cooked to perfection, tasty chips and a very nice cup of tea. A very nautical theme inside with fish shaped plates.Amar & Liana have turned this place into a perfect little friendly retreat, especially for me with wheelchair access.

Lovely fish and chips quick service and ample food worth a visit. Good value and near to the beach so didn't have far to walk. We sat in and ate but the queue for take away was out the door very popular with locals.

Always enjoyed this restaurant - despite it being cramped and fairly basic - but just had the best haddock & chips yet. Unbeatable prices. Always busy.

This was our Go-to place during our recent holiday. Fish AND chips, or chips to go with something else we'd cooked. The best thing is that everything is freshly cooked - no fish hanging around on the hot plates, and the chips cooked to order too. Your food is packed in boxes, an essential if you're taking it on the beach because of the thieving seagulls!the portions are very generous, and the quality next to none.

What a gem . First time to visit Ramsgate and it is a lively, clean and tidy and felt safe there. The Mariners bar was a great place to eat and drink and was typical prices but the atmosphere and decor was spectacular with quirky bits every which was fantastic. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient and the food we had was very good. The place was exceptionally clean and positioned opposite the marina.
