This is the 2nd time we’ve had fish and chips here; we play bowls at Birchington Bowls green once a year, so have fish and chips before our game. This time we ate inside, after parking in the small area next door. The eating area was clean and tidy; surprisingly we didn’t have to wait too long for our meal considering that it’s freshly cooked to order. Our 2 x fish and chip meals (sharing a large chips) was delicious, served by polite, attentive and smiley staff. Would certainly recommend.

The food was excellent, The Fish cooked fresh. Chips were delicious. None of the food was greasy at all. Only complaint if you could say it's a bad thing is the portion size. Way too big 😂. Next visit I think me and Tracey would share . We are getting older 😂

The family had fish and chips here tonight. Absolutely delicious, the fish was cooked to order, quick service, fish had the skin off, very tasty and crisp batter. Huge portions of chips, really nice and fresh. Im a vegetarian and everything was cooked in vegetable oil.

Very dissatisfied with the food today, its not often we get to dine out and when the food is as disappointing as it was today it ruins the whole experience. Saveloy’s were bland tasteless and rubbery Batter sausage was okay flavour wise but the batter was soft and limp Fish batter was oily with minimal crunchy bits Very unfortunate as I remember this place as being brilliant when we lived here a few years back

Ordered a savaloy and chips half the chips tasted stale and the savaloy tasted absolutely horrible and was off colour on the inside like a grey/green colour the meat was all mushy and tasteless Don't recommend

Popped in for luch while working in the area. Ordered a regular cod and chips with a saveloy. What i got was a huge code and another lump of cod ontop of that....! Was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The chips are some of the best ive had nice and dry /crispy with a perfect texture inside The guys here are doing it right. I will definitely be back when passing and would even go out of my way to enjoy their food . Highly recommended 👌

The fish and chips was cracking. Seems to be a trend on fish and chip shops at the mo...the price list does not reflect what is charged... for example for my order of reg...cod and chips. Board states £7.80 was asked cash or card. Stated card and was charged £10.80. So hungry that I couldnt be bothered to argue this one out. Anyone else had the same probs? I would give them a 5 star, but the pricing is very conflicting to what is charged.

Popped in for some fish and chips for the family and was totally amazed at how good these meals were. Would definitely recommend to anyone, we all had the minis bay special which to be fare was just the right amount to have before going on a walk... lovely grub thank you.. going back for more real soon. An update on this smashing little fish and chip shop. Since I reviewed this chip shop I have used many more times. I have to say that everytime has been nothing but excellent. Food is cooked fresh and the battery is never soggy. Always enjoyed, keep up the good work 👏

The guy whom greeted me earlier today remembered me from some time ago, I always opt for the senior citizen fish n chips ! To be totally honist I would highly recommend this restaurant/takeaway because its cooked fresh unlike some that have it under the headlamps, kind regards jay.

Real British Fish and Chips with lovely owners!

I went in on Saturday and to young girls was more interested in there conversation then serving me when I said excuse me they gave me a dirty look and rolled her eyes back at me as a paying customer I felt disrespected hopefully this issue could get solved in the future

Had cod & chips here for the 3rd time since we moved to the area in January. The fish is always beautifully cooked to order with the batter never being too greasy. The chips have also never been greasy and a small portion always more than enough for 2 people. The staff are polite even when they are extremely busy, like this good Friday evening. The guy at the front apologised for the long(ish) wait and gave service with a smile while organising several large orders. The young girl (Vicky? or Nicky? I think?) also clearly busy took time to smile and also apologised for the wait. Dont mind waiting for Fish and chips of this standard. Since moving to the area we would be hard-pressed to find a better fish and chip shop with the amazing food and customer service from here.

Visited during the lunchtime midweek, for fish & chips. They offer gluten fish & chips, to eat in or take away! Very tasty, reasonably priced and staff very pleasant. Would revisit.

I had one of the best fish and chips with mushy peas from here . I was very impressed I will go there everytime I m down that way price was good food was soo nice and service was great too . Top job lads

I have eaten fish and chips many times in different parts of England but I have not seen anything like MINNIS BAY FISH AND CHIPS. Another privilege is that they also make gluten free

Nice place to sit and have f&c's, after a day at beach. Free ketchup and salt. Toilets to relieve yourself. Chips ok. Kids enjoyed it. Clean enough. Friendly staff.

We usually have fish and chips here during our visits to England. This time it was our first meal. We split one large order of fries for five people. Granted, we didn’t want too much fries so it worked out well for us. I ordered the cod which was also massive compared to what I would get in the US. Husband ordered the fish cakes which seemed smaller than what they usually served. Definitely hit the spot.

Just the best fish and chips around, I dare you to find better. ***** (Five stars a year ago). Previous owner ---------------------------------------------- We did not know that the old owners had gone, such a shame because honestly it is totally different, and not in a good way sadly, pitiful portions of terrible, stale tasting chips... and really not great fish for what seems like extremely high prices.

usually a regular at the spot and never have complaints, the place has fantastic food and usually very friendly staff. If i queue to order and reach the tills, do not then tell me to then sit down while you send someone over to take my order. Waited another 10-15 mins for someone to come to my table with no luck. Missus then went up to order a drink (A DRINK!?! ) and was sent back to wait for someone to take the order again.. by this time, i was tired of waiting, went up to the tills and ordered my food. After unsuccessfully trying to get me to return to my seat AGAIN, i explained that the wait time was nonsense, his reply was "were busy" .. i told him i was ready to order at the till before and ive waited long enough. The Kungal didn't like that and swore at me in Turkish to his colleague (very educated individual), big villager swearing at the people putting money in his pockets. YOU FRY FISH MATE RELAX! MORAL OF THE STORY, if your as BUSY as you've mentioned, surely taking the order then getting to it when you reasonably can, makes more sense than seating a family to eat and making them wait. Oh, out of spite, he gave the orders (£40 worth of fish and chips) all wrapped in paper, sitting at a table, no plates, no cutlery and the excuse given, "were busy". He tried to leave out an order so that i wouldn't notice also, since there was so many paper parcels everywhere. Not the first time its happened either but thought it was a mistake before, sad to see he's just trying to make a few extra bob by not fulfilling the entire order. lastly, i want to apologise to the girls working there, clearly sick of this villagers backdated attitudes, im sure they've seen their fair share. You girls were stellar, and thank you again, and im sorry if you had to clean up all the paper that was left on the table, but im sure even you agree with all ive mentioned. As for the owner, You are dog, uncivilised and clearly a villager. Couldn't even wait for me to leave to swear at me LOL.

Gets very busy on a Friday, you have to get a numbered ticket with your order now (tombola time !) 🙂 still good chips and like the fact you can get a slice of lemon still.

Used to be lovely fish and chip takeaway when the previous owners ran it. Since the new people have taken over this year it’s gone so down hill. They charge you for a bag, and if you order any type of fish they charge you for 30p to box it even though it’s not optional and this all used to be free before. Now they have a minimum spend of £5 on card orders where as before there was none. Taste of food is lacking and overly greasy now. Totally gone down hill and wouldn’t recommend or go there anymore. Sad.

Best Fish and Chips in Thanet, they do take away mainly, however, do have a few tables to dine in, as we did. Food straight out of the fryer onto our plate, delicious. Friendly staff too, we come here every time we visit.

Normally great food my partner and parents went to get a table in the chip shop but they where full ! So ordered a take away .my parents walked home to warm the plates ! Partner and I waited she was needed the loo but was refused as was only for sit down customers and staff ! So took a refund very poor customer services !

Soggy chips gave them to seaguls

waited half hour for a large chips and gherkin, literally popped out to grab some chips to add to our meal at home. no pre warning to say it'll be a wait, id understand if i had ordered a meal for 4 people... but having to wait half hour for chips is a joke, it got to the half hour point and asked for a refund. you looked under staffed, so if that is the case fair enough but no one should have to wait that long for a meal let alone a large chips lol, just dish them up there and then bosh done!

Great quality food and well organised for the current situation. Only down side was the 30 min wait for the food.

We stopped here early one evening after spending a busy day at the British Open Golf nearby. We were served by a friendly, young man. We had cod and chips with salt, vinegar and lemon added. It was superb! All freshly cooked to order and plenty of it. Top marks!

We called in here on a very rainy miserable day and were delighted how lovely and obliging the staff were, so we ate in. I had the skate and it really was superb. We were also offered sauces and fresh lemon with our food. All the meals we had were very good , reasonable prices and I would highly recommend. We will return!

We stopped off here for Fish and Chips on Friday afternoon after a walk around the area. We were served by a charming, polite, young man who couldn’t do enough for us. The Fish and Chips were freshly cooked and very tasty. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely go there again.
