Had fish and chips which gave me food poisoning and have been up all night being sick

Visited with my daughter. Chips were great and daughter loved the fish. The person who served us was very professional and friendly. Has outdoor seating. Good prices considering location.

Proper fish and chips in a box sat outside can’t be beaten massive queues during the day but better in the evening.

What a great experience, only marred by the stench of raw sewage from the harbour. Water companies are a disgrace and shareholders should be ashamed of themselves. Still the best fish and chips available.

Late night supper in late October. Sat outside in the cold and dark. Yet, the food was proper good - took out minds off the conditions. Very good! And i know what good chips are. I have a chip gut to prove it.

Really friendly staff keaton is really helpful and funny ( looking that is). Price is very good for quality of food and portion sizes are great.

I was recommended this fish and chips takeaway by a friend who lives in Margate... I was down from London and sometimes the fish and chips could be touch and go... but Peters lived up to its reputation... polite guy serving...clean place... I purchased a fish and chips dea,l currently on offer £6.95! i think it was haddock! All I can say the fish was delicccccccious, not too oily or tasting of grease and yummy fat chips... I was tempted to go back the next day for more but, nope........The scales said NO.......LOL Defo, go and check this place out!

I went here yesterday to get a cone of chips after seeing that they only cost £1.60 and thought that it was a great price. I went in and asked to see the cone of chips and it was tiny and the price of chips in London is at most double that but you get at least three times the chips. The chips were then overcooked and had been refried and done in old oil. Wouldn't recommend

Actual rip off, the 'regular' portion is the exact same size as the 'small'! And don't think they are charging for two 'small' portions, they clearly think people are thick, watch out for this scam and avoid.

It’s good food, but it can be slow to make your order as the menu doesn’t explain anything. Nobody knows how big a ‘medium chips’ is, or how big the £7.95 fish deal is compared to ordering fish and chips separately.

We picked up some take away fish and chips and it was good quality, served politely and efficiently, really quickly and it didn't cost the earth! We are very happy!

I was looking forward to fish and chips having traveled from London! Well ! The chips still hadn’t the eyes cleaned properly.and were mostly tiny and hard. I specifically asked for a thicker middle cut of cod, but was given the tail end which was curled double to look thick. The batter was dry and greasy! Believe me I can honestly say in 60 years of my life this was the worst fish and chips !

I went to this highly viewed fish and chip shop expecting a delicious well made meal and I was wrong . I ordered the “special Haddock “ it was so cold and the batter was basically falling off the fish I thought if I was paying £9 for a meal I’d get atleast over 10 chips it’s so bad then I got a mushy peas and found a long white/blonde hair in it I’d not recommend it , I also ordered a battered sausage with curry sauce the sauce was so watery and only the top was warm not even hot it was so flavourless . I’d want to expect high reviews of the “ best fish and chips in Margate “ I was wrong never eating from this place again. 😡😡😡😡😡

Take out only, very tasty, really enjoyed the chips, I'm not a big fan of chips usually. Sat opposite the shop to eat, a paved area with tables and chairs, lovely planters along the railings, felt very continental! Very quick service despite there being a queue. I guess a queue is a sign that the food is good, I'd say this eatery is popular.

Expected excellent fish and chips because of the reviews and really long que and being on the coast next to the sea. But it was just average no better than my local chippy back in London. Maybe they just ran out of the really fresh fish. Had better in South End on Sea, Clacton and Bournemouth.

Brilliant cod and chips, plus the curry sauce was especially good. Highly recommended. You can always tell a good chippy by the queue length, this one always has one!

What can I say... Customer service is excellent, especially the main young dude who wears a baseball cap taking orders at the till. He's knows exactly how to treat customers and will go a long way. However, the fish and chips, are kinda average. Chips, you can say were ok, some were bit soggy tbh. The cod really didn't seem that fresh, more dry and chewy, rather than moist and succulent. Which is a real shame considering the outfit seems decent enough. 50p for a small packet of ketchup, is definitely also a gripe.

Lovely little traditional seaside fish and chip shop . Great find, so glad we ate from here. Brilliant value with all the seaside charm that takes you back to seaside trips as a child. The constant queue speaks for its self. Great menu with all of the extras like mushy peas and pickled onions! We enjoyed haddock and chips , reasonable portions and recommend having your food with a pint outside one of the many nearby bars.

Ate our haddock and chips outside on Peter’s tables and chairs set out opposite the shop. A large portion of chips and well-cooked haddock for £6.95! Perfect!

I've never liked fish and chips but I ordered the special (haddock, chips, salt and vinegar) and it was the best thing I have ever tasted. The staff were very friendly and nice. The last time I went was yesterday and it's still the best thing I've ever tasted.

Just like so many others we loved this place. On our mini holiday in Ramsgate we've had fish and chips a few times. Restaurants the worst. Bloody oven chips! Pete's is great. Really tasty fish and proper chips. And great value!

Queue was for around half an hour at 5pm. I visited this place a few years ago and remembered enjoying the fish and chips a lot more. Wouldn't queue again for it. Chips and fish were both greasy and despite lashings of salt and vinegar lacked any taste. Curry sauce was very watery.

I called this establishment on 26th August to ask if they did telephoned orders (I didn't want my food there and then) I asked if they had any large cod because on 25th I asked for a large cod (none left). I was given two goujons "as a medium cod" I was charged for a medium cod! I felt cheated and swindled. I was told to join the queue like everyone else. I tried to explain why I needed a telephoned order but I was snapped at "Join the queue like everyone else". I hung up and left. But had I had the chance to explain whomever answered the phone would have found out I am a disabled person with mobility issues in addition to the fact that standing causes much pain. He would have found out I wanted my food later. I didn't have time to explain this. It's a shame that Peter's Fish Factory doesn't take into consideration the disabled person. It is a requirement of a business (Equality Act 2020) to make reasonable adjustments so that a disabled person can access your service. Remember not all disabilities are visible. It's shame that you couldn't accommodate a disable person at the time I called in. You may service other disabled people but this was not the case on Monday 26th. I wasn't trying to "jump the queue" but was asking for a service. I have had a pleasant experience from this establishment on other occasions, but whomever answered the phone really let the business down on Bank Holiday Monday. FYI I did get my fish and chips from the Mechanical Elephant, not as good as the food at Peter's Fish Factory. Shame you have staff that are anti disabled! Will I return? Maybe!

The best fish and chips. Although, in peak season be prepared to que. The food is fantastic, proper chips and fresh and crispy batter and equally for the fish. However, the service is slow and having visited several times I've often not got the portions I've asked for.

Worth the wait and the type. One of the best scampi I've had ever. The fish and chips were good too, but that scampi was something else!

The best fish and chips in town 😊 They have a good selection to choose from I found the stuff nice and helpful and smiley Just a couple of drawbacks, parking around that area is difficult because it’s on Margate seafront and sometimes you have to wait for while to get served because of the long queues, but this is what you get when you have a small shop serving a large number of people. Took a Day Trip to Margate. As we do each year! Pete’s food is lovely. Tasty. Fully cooked. The shops only let down in our opinion is. Too small for the amount of footfall they have. We queued for just over an hour. But as said.. Food was worth it. Fish portions aren’t great. But with chips are filling. Prices. Just Affordable. Price range was for 6. Our polite idea is.. Find a Shop that’s double sized or more. Add a seating area. Then your business will have two areas to sell from. Going on. See you again very soon.

It's just really goof chips. Got the medium cod and chips. Could have fed 3! Went another time at the end of the evening and got chips with lots of crispy bits as most things were sold out.

I find it really difficult to rate this place because I would consider myself a fish and chips connoisseur. I’ve had brilliant fish and chips all across the United Kingdom, and from places that maybe even certain people may have never heard of and ultimately the chips were fantastic here absolutely loved the chips were tasteful and cooked to perfection. However, the big letdown was the fish and for me, the problem with the fish was, there was just too much batter around it Chips five stars! Fish Two stars. And that seriously where I would rate it Surely the fish has to be considered the main star of the show. And if there’s a big problem with the fish, then I can’t give it more than a three star rating overall. Like the fish felt very tiny very small and just covered in batter. I don’t know whether this was deliberate because it was a super busy day when went to Margate on Saturday there was some sort of pride festival and not just pride but also a pro Palestinian March going on so I’m not sure whether this had effected the quality that was being put out to the customers, and whether they deliberately decided on that pacific day to reduce the size of the fish servings and increase the batter to obviously get as much custom and make produce goes far as it could potentially this could’ve happened, but I don’t know if this is the standard. I think it’s no more than three star for me out of five. But as I say, the chips were absolutely perfection if we’re just rating this on chips, it was a five star so make of that what you will I think Fish ⭐️⭐️ Chips ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The long queue around the late afternoon/ early evening is testament to Peter’s Fish Factory’s popularity among clientele from all backgrounds. With swift, friendly yet no-nonsense service, for me this had hands down the best chip-shop Chinese style curry sauce - with the right balance of umami, tangy and spice (although the sauce is on the thin side). The day I went, there was a special deal on haddock and chips which was the same quantity as the regular cod.

In my opinion best fish and chips in margate. I will always come here upon visiting the beach staff are always lively and the queue is processed very quickly. I have never had a bad experience here. Fish is excellent crispy batter that holds well to the fish. Chips are perfectly fluffy and crisp well seasoned. I have bought whitebait from here before portion was excellent and fantastic taste aswell. Cannot recommend this place enough!

I am perplexed by the 5-star reviews. We waited in the queue for 1 hour to get a small piece of fish and soggy chips. Yes, it may be cheaper than other restaurants around, but you are paying for it with your time. Tried, won’t come back.

There are always queues here and that an indication of what kind of place it is. Great fish and chips, with lots of innovation. On my last visit they used some new potatoes and a really good curry sauce. Highly recommend.

Standing in the queue of Pete’s Fish Factory with my fiancé when two men barged in front of us, I thought they were customers attempting to jump the queue so I jokingly said, “We’re in the queue.” Only to be told in a sarcastic manner, “Only if you want to cook the fish yourself!” That’s when I realised they were staff. I felt they were rude because they should have done the civilised thing, and announced themselves, e.g., say, ‘excuse me, I work here’ at the very least, rather than push past us, as neither of them were wearing anything that indicated they worked at Pete’s Fish Factory. Their attitude was uncalled for. Just as I was about to be served the person serving said they would not be serving me as I was rude his co-workers. So I left. My fiancée was served by the same member of staff who turned away my custom, witnessed that member of staff turn to his co-workers and say, “I told him I wasn’t serving him cos he was rude.”, and they all laughed. They thought it was funny. This all occurred in front of a long line of customers. It seems they got a kick out of embarrassing potential customers.

Probably the food is ok however they think pulling up at 6.15am in Westgate, leaving the drivers door open and vile language music up full volume is acceptable ? waking young children up to that? People live above shops and they clearly have no respect for the local community, there are so many families he's disturbed we wouldn't touch the shop as a result. He then drives off blasting his horn ! You was recorded so next time it's going to the police, for disturbing the peace, us residents have had enough as it's not the first time. Vile and disrespectful. Reflects on the shop as a whole.

Had Cod and chips (large), the fish was a lovely thick portion with lovely crispy batter. We did have to queue for 45 minutes, but the food was worth it.

Nah, when it’s busy - the food is terrible. All the fish are fried beforehand so it’s not cooked to order, understandably to serve the long queue during the weekend. I thought it was one of the best f&c I have tasted but when it’s busy it’s just not. The fish is fresh though but fried in thick soggy batter that you just want to peel off the dish and discard. The chips was also soggy. And when you order a large cod they give you a medium plus small sized pieces of fish rather than a proper large cod which would taste much better with chunks of fish. Unfortunately it was a bad day.

Not a huge fan of F&C but I’ve got to say they were the best I had in England. Crispy chips and nice fish. A huge portion for £6.7 I think so really cheap too! And a great atmosphere outside looking at the sea.

Nice food from what I can remember but it's Tuesday afternoon and the service is beyond slow. In fact I've seen glaciers move faster. Gave up and went somewhere else.

Lovely Fish & Chips from Peter's. Went right on lunch time on a sunny Saturday, so had to queue for about 30 minutes. But worth it as very delicious. Handful of tables available out front in the sun, if not there are plenty of places to sit at the beach.

I grew up in the 90s having chippy suppers as a treat and every now and again I treat myself as an adult searching for that taste and I'm always severely let down by the quality of the mushy, tasteless chips. Peter's Fish Factory has ended that search. Their chips are absolutely flipping fantastic. Salt and vinegar. Bun and some ketchup for a chip butty to finish. It was like I was 10 years old again. Will definitely go again next time we visit Margate.

Time and time again we go here. Special this time haddock and chips for £5.99. Unbievable value. No wonder the queues are so long.

The cod and scampi tails were not fishy at all and for the first time my fussy daughter actually ate some. Batter was light and crispy, and I appreciated that they could give me lemon instead of vinegar. Tables outside with a view of the sea.

Chips were great as usual But the woman with tattoos went out stroked a slobbery dog and then went straight back in and handled fish without washing her hands 🤮🤢 There was one person seemed to be doing most of the work, they were lovely and 2 others just hanging around, with a large queue outside
