Westgate Fish 'N' Chips in Thanet

The best Fish and Chips in Thanet, if not the best F&C I have ever had. I have been to Maggie's in Whitby, and Westgate is much better than them. The Fish AND the Chips are cooked Fresh while you wait. The fish is always so fresh, and the chips are just perfect. The service is very friendly. 15/10. I will not go anywhere else.

Wow! The shop had a few folk waiting for their food when I turned up but the moment I stepped in I received a "hello!" After ordering (cod and chips) I was offered a small portion of chips whilst I waited, I was taken aback but hugely impressed.... it is rare you get such attention to customer service! The fish was battered and fried whilst I watched, I waited about 8 (ish) minutes. It was well worth the wait! The fish was cooked to perfection, the battery was light and crisp, the chips.... oh oh oh absolutely delicious, fat, crisp on the outside/fluffy in the middle and plenty of them. Absolutely delicious.

Possibly the best chippy in Thanet and there are some great chippies around here.

What a lovely touch for them to offer me a mini cone of chips to nibble on while I was waiting for my fish to be fried! Stuff like that makes all the difference and shows that they care - and the people working there looked like they were happy and having fun, which is a great sign and fills you with confidence. I had Haddock and 'small' chips and that was enough to fill two of us 🙂 Thanks 👍🏼

The food was delicious and the service was very good! The fish was a little big and tooooooooooooooo much vinegar! The guy that sold the food was very nice and friendly! The burgers were dry and boring. But in general you can go there and eat original english fish and chips!

A great portion of chips and onion rings with a buttered roll and some mayonnaise is what I got. Was driving past, feeling peckish and really glad I stopped to check this place out. The staff were really polite and produced the goods in no time at all. Would definitely go again!

We visit Margate a number of times a year and Westgate Fish & Chips remains one of our favourite Fish & Chip shops to go to (If Peters Fish Factor in Margate is very busy, when we are travelling back home). More often than not, we have a positive experience here. Very infrequently the chips may be tepid. More often, they are freshly coked and very hot. Staff are always friendly and polite. On this occasion, (Oct23), they were extremely hot and tasty.

Deadout weak, wouldn't even give it 1 star chips dripping in grease tasted disgusting. Fish tasted like it was a week old and most of the fish was batter you couldnt even call it fish again dripping in grease. Calamari wasnt even fresh tasted like it was reheated and rock hard. Deadout give it a big swerve. Dont believe the hype...... Below par.........

Came in last night to grab some food. Excellent. All freshly cooked to order. Good portion sizes. Batter on the cod was crispy not greasy. Chips just how they should be, fluffy inside and piping hot. My partner had a burger. Which was also very good. Polite and friendly staff. Good price too.

Called in yesterday and had the best fish and chips ever. All freshly cooked and we were even offered some chips while we waited. Staff are great with a sense of humour. Definitely going back next time we’re in Westgate.

Amazing food and service. We were holding a fundraising event so they kindly did us a deal with the meal for the children. We preordered as so many of us and we just walked in a collected at our chosen time. The food was amazing. Well it was the quietest the children had been all day.

Consistently fantastic food with a great variety. Always cheerful, engaging staff and often a small sample portion whilst waiting for order. Non-greasy, delicious food. Having tried almost all the chippies in Thanet, this is now my only choice, even if it means a short drive. Calling first with your order often saves time, given just how popular it is with the local community and tourists for walk-ins.

Popped in for fish and chips before going to the cinema. Lovely crispy batter on the fish and yummy chips. Service was given with a smile and chat. There wre several of us so we were given a free bag of chips while waiting for our order. Brilliant.

One of the best fish & chips takeaways in East Kent in my opinion. The staff are very welcoming. Prices sadly reflect the huge increases we have all seen in recent months. Check their menu for healthier dining options. Friday and Saturday evenings can be very busy.

I visited with 3x under 3 year olds on a cold day and the staff went out of their way to make our visit hassle-free. They even brought down extra chairs and moved a table for us to sit at! Wonderful customer service and the fish and chips were second to none. We'll definitely be back!

Fish n chips or pie n chips superb. I picked up 20 meals for my residents at a local block of flats for a joint lunch. Not one complaint but plenty of compliments! Everything hot, great portions, fresh fish in crispy batter. James is very helpful and friendly, his staff loaded the three big boxes of individually boxed meals in my cars. Top notch tucker!

All staff are very engaging, the owner knows all about fish, he fillets all his own he also shares the best way to cook ingredients so as to not allow soggy batter or overcook fish Highly recommended

We bought chips yesterday and they were really horrible. Seemed wrinkled like they've been around a while. It's a shame because it's the first time we've had horrible chips from there. I'd rather wait while fresh chips are cooked. Maybe they should cook smaller batches save them trying to get rid of them.

Had a few mandatory fish and chip suppers on the beach whilst on a short break - this place was recommended to us and am soo pleased it was. The food is so fresh and absolutely delicious. Staff are friendly and offer a cup of chips to nibble on whilst you wait. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area

I've eaten a *lot* of fish'n'chips in my 66 years. These guys are right at the top of the game; beautiful fish, tasty chips cooked to perfection, and friendly staff.

We were visiting the area today. I fancied Fish and Chips. Had this taste in my mind. I was happy to see this take away place. The cot was very nice, the chips were nice too. Large portion under £10. The staff was very friendly. The place was bussy and food was fresh. Prepared quickly. We enjoyed the food on the sea front. It was even better than what I craved for. Well done team.

Best in Westgate Service with a Smile

Got 2 fishcakes yesterday which unfortunately I only realised on my return to the beach, were still stone cold & obviously hadn't been cooked long enough...chips were great though!

I thought I would do a review on this fantastic little fish and chip shop that we found out by accident last week in a little place called Westgate near the train station I am not joking the fish and chips are out of this world the chips was nice and fluffy the fish was nice and thick not flat like it has been recently in other chip shops perfect better fantastic really really friendly helpful staff definitely definitely highly recommend this place like I say we went last week and we’ve been again today we travelled all the way from Canterbury just to get the fish and chips that’s how good they are would I visit this place again yes definitely probably next week

First time at this Fish and Chip Shop. Really good food. Fish caught locally. I even had a chat with the fisherman (in with his family getting dinner) who supplies the shop. If you are in the area, it is highly recommended.

Fantastic chips! Always great service and always fresh. This is the place to go when you want fish and chips and a sea side view. The sea front is a 2min drive where you can sit (in your car or on a bench) and enjoy the view with your delicious meal.

Chips were lovely, saveloy was inedible must have been reheated everyday for about a week, was super dry and rock hard, so much so that it had to be thrown in the bin

I regularly get my fish and chips from the Westgate Fish shop, and probably like most people who buy takeaway just get it home and eat it. But this time it was different, the fish and chips from here are normally very good, but when I got them on Wednesday they were really, really good, so good I decided to put it on trip advisor. If there is anyone in Westgate that hasn't tried their fish and chips I really do suggest they do. Probably the best fish and chips.

Awesome fish and chips. Hardly any oil on the wrapper, the chips were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle - lovely. The fish was nice and fresh and the service was super quick. Well done lads.

Incredible service as usual, free chips whilst we waited and perfect food! On our family beach days we always grab food from here at the end of the day and head down to Westgate Bay with the picnic blanket for a perfect evening.

All this was £10 only. Very good chips, very good curry sauce, excellent customer service! Much better than any fish&chips in Margate.

Westgate F&C has just lost our business! Took them 1.40 mins to deliver our order despite that it is only 10 mins drive away! Called 3 times and told that they left 10 mins ago - what a lie, because the delivery man told us...

Fish and chips cooked fresh to order, less than a 10 minute wait. Very friendly and helpful staff who provided forks, paper towels so we could take our lunch by the seafront.
