We meant to post this review much sooner but it's better late than never!!!! Every time we travel from London to Ramsgate we make sure that we head straight to this great chip shop for lunch.  We have tried many of the other chip shops in the vicinity and in the main shopping area of Ramsgate and they simply do not compare. It's a family run business (father & son) that has got to rate as one of the most friendly chip shops in the entire United Kingdom. The food is always cooked fresh and is absolutely delicious, the prices are extremely fair, the portions are enough to satisfy the most voracious of appetites and service is habitually given with a most welcome smile. We usually go for a large portion of fish bites with plenty chips but we will be trying the scampi and calamari the next time we visit this fantastic chip shop.  You should also know that these good people can also coat your fish and other food items in SOUTHERN FRIED BATTER which is awesome so why don't you give it a try - it makes a surpisingly tasty alternative to conventional batter!!!!!!!!  All you need do is request this different genre of batter when placing your order. We simply cannot believe some of the negative reviews given my some of the other reviewers as we have used this chip shop at least five times and we have always been provided with excellent quality food.  We cannot wait to sample our next food order which will be in the coming weeks.  If we could give more star ratings over and above 5 then we would as this chip shop truly merits a rating over and above the formal ratings scale.

The batter was over cooked , fish dry and the chips were soft but anemic. Food was piping hot but not to my taste . Mr Chips was not answering the phone so ordered from here.

This jolly little place is run by father and son. This is now my Go to fish and chip shop in Thanet. The food is always fantastic and the portions are more than enough. The prices are palatable to.

Firstly, the portions were way too large. We ordered 5 meals and probably threw two meals out, if you add up all the waste. If large portions are your thing, this is the place to go, wasn’t for us. Secondly, the cheesy chips were clumped and rubbery, again more waste because they were not edible We all felt very heavy after eating (not all the food to blame, but…).

Wanted a fish'n' chip party for six in the back garden ,ordered two large cod and large chips twice and large and medium cod with medium chips ..pickled oinion and a gerkin....£40. I thought bit expensive but ordered anyway on Thurs 15th just to be sure they would turn up. Told them are pals were arriving at 17:00 on Sat 17th. 16:50 delivery arrived really nice person. The fish were the biggest (large) i have ever seen there were enough chips to feed a small school. All fresh all hot ...BRILLIANT highly recommended.5****

Friendly team and waiting times are fantastic no long waits at all. Obviously with these times it's a little longer with the queue system but still quicker than the rest.

40min wait for takeaway reasonable? Popped by en route to the seashore to eat fish n chips with the family and being cold as it was for Easter, waiting so long outside for 4 x Fish n Chips made it worse! Owners seemed more concerned knocking out delivery orders than walk in customers. Not impressed and won’t be returning anytime soon! Avoid on a Sat pm.

Quick service. Chips were good. Portion size generous, especially the children's meals, which would be suitable for an adult. Fish ok, although batter was on the heavy side for me. Good value for money.

Having been to every chip shop through out Ramsgate @ Broadstairs I can give an overall opinion with regards to the Golden Fish Bar. The staff first of all and owner are really friendly as well as welcoming. The pricies are really affordable especially as the quality of the chips and fish are of very high quality. The overall standards are high in the shop and I would highly recommend the Golden Fish Bar as the number one Fish @ Chip shop in Ramsgate @ Broadstairs. Don't believe me then go and visit the shop yourself and be blown away like I was because without doubt this shop is at top of it's game of delivering tasty fish @ chips.

Probably the best fish and chips in the area. We used to go to another shop, but their prices and portions have changed for the worse, but not here! Enormous portions, and great food. The chips are cut fresh, and some of the best you’ll have. Plus it’s a local mom and pop shop, so supporting a local business is always good

We are regular visitors to this chippy, and it really is 10/10 for quality of food, plus friendliness of service. They even do home deliveries! Luckily for us they’re just at the top of our road though. Highly recommend to all!

Well presented clean tidy shop with welcoming staff. Food can be well cooked with reasonable prices, in my opinion one of the best tasting chips I've found in Thanet, good sized above average portions and doesn't cost a fortune.

Always pop in here to get my chips, more so now I'm pregnant and craving them and curry sauce.. always pick up a few bottles of bing whilst I'm here too!!! Chips are DELICIOUS best around by far but wish the bing was less expensive lol!

Lovely family run the chippy always happy and the other staff..wicked food and they still use paper not them horrible boxes.and cheap enough to feed everyone in my house (6)for a tenner!!! Love the place

One of my childhood/adult hobbies was travelling around London and latterly England sampling the chip shops as i went along. I found this chip shop by chance when I moved into the Thanet area and got lost. I drive from Dover to Thanet daily and up to London, and when I want chips, this is where I go. I actually save up all my cravings until I can get to this shop. I don't eat fish or meat so can only vouch for the chips which are golden, crisp and fluffy with no black or green bits. The small shop is usually packed with the queues outside so be prepared to wait for the freshly cooked delights. It seems worth it so far.

Bien, déjeme ser honesta. Este es el pescado y patatas fritas lugar donde se puede comprar pescado y patatas fritas. Estado aquí dos veces, pescado y patatas fritas medianas cuestan 5 libras pero es normalmente suficiente tanto para mí y mi novia juntos.

The large cod is the best I have ever eaten.it's best to order by phone as they cook to order. Marvelous

El pescado es de muy buena calidad y sobre todo bien preparado. Muchos peces diferentes y comida. Tengo un capricho al menos una vez a la semana. Soy bastante viejo y un pescado y patatas fritas son sólo la mitad comido así que se sugirió que tome una porción de niños. Esta fue excelente y el tamaño justo a mitad de precio. Yo voy al menos una vez por semana.

The plaice (aha!!!) to go to if you want a decent fish and chips. Me and my family have been going here for years and absolutely love it. Always good sized portions and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.
