Westbrook Fish & Chips in Thanet

First visit to this chippy and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both fish and chips. Lovely crispy batter and a nice texture to the cod. The chips were nicely cooked and tasted great. My food was cooked to order and it was worth the wait. Nice service too.

I ordered cod and chips and scampi and chips at just after 6.30pm. The chips were dry like cardboard and tasteless. The cod was dry, tough and did not seem freshly cooked. It had a dark brown patch on the bottom of it where I can only guess that it had been sitting in the warmer for far too long. Horrible. Gave it to the dog. The scampi was freshly cooked and was succulent and tasty. The cod and the chips were not fresh. With mushy peas (which were lovely btw) the meal came to just under 24 pounds. Sad that fresh food was not available at this time of day. Will not be visiting again.

MASSIVE portions, freshly cooked, tasted great, what more could you ask for...! Great service too. Expect to wait but that is because a) it is popular and b) things are cooked from scratch and not held around in a warmer. Cash only but that wasn't an issue because we could do direct bank transfer.

Great portions, top quality fish that is freshly made to order. Best fish I've had and the cod melts in your mouth. Try the plaice it is simply the best. Good value you really don't get better than this.

We both had cod and chips which were huge, excellent and cheaper than any we could have bought where we live. We went mid afternoon and the fish was cooked to order Wish we were there and could have them again.

Cooked to order so a little wait but absolutely delicious. My cod had a thin batter which I love. The battererd sausage was tasty. Good portions.

The very best fish and chips. Consistently great. I’ve been about 10 times now and it’s been 5 * every single time. The regular chips are just too big! Huge. The cod is fresh and they serve brilliant large pieces. I just can’t recommend highly enough!

Being at the seaside, we decided to indulge in a tradition and have fish and chips. We happened on the Westbrook by chance...but were so, so pleased. Had to wait for the fish to be freshly cooked, but it was definitely worth the wait!! Fantastic quality of fish, chips superb. The missus has passed up cod and chips for at least the last 20 years as she's not keen on thick crunchy but also greasy batter. Well, she's been converted by the Westbrook. Their batter was light but wholesome, non-greasy and well seasoned. Bloody marvellous. We'll be back this month for some more!! Well done Westbrook!!

Really good fish and chips at a reasonable price. As everything is cooked to order we had to wait 20 minutes, but it was worth it and meant the food was fresh! We enjoyed our fish and chips on the beach.

Haven't been in Westbrook long and being single need and use local takeaways! After a couple of disappointing visits to two Chinese establishments on the Canterbury Road it was a great relief to sample the fare on offer at Westbrook Fish and Chips! Always cooked fresh and while you wait, the cod is tasty and the batter light and crunchy! Chips are also good and generous portions too! To sum up - good gear and good value for money! Nice staff decent priced clean would recommend it. Had cod chips very good portion, £20.00 for two of us well worth it.

Very convenient to where we live and great if you don’t fancy cooking. Cooked fresh and good helpings. The staff are always friendly. Prices are good. Would recommend

Had a previous bad experience, not long ago. But now new owners, gave a free refund of cod and chips. Which was a amazing taste experience. Would highly recommend to anyone local or from outside town. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Been visiting for about four years now and have a regular order of large cod and chips every Friday. Although there have been various 'managers' and fryers, the current pair are the best to date. Always cooked to order and piping hot. Fish portions are huge as are the chips. Various tweaks to the decor have improved the overall appearance including outside tables albeit on the busy Canterbury Road. Highly recommended!

I had cod and chips and my husband had fish cake and chips. It was very hot and fresh. Thank u so much. I also had a sausage which was the best I have tasted yet. We will definitely be back for more again 😊

A menudo me tome mis nietos a la playa de westbrook y lo tome como leído que terminaremos el día con pescado y patatas fritas, antes de abordar el tren a casa. Normalmente caminar en Margate para dicho pescado y patatas fritas, pero nos quedamos en la playa hasta más tarde de lo que suelo hacer y me registré para ver si había una tienda en el camino de vuelta a la estación. Para mi agrado, había uno muy cerca, así que decidí probarlo. . . Me alegro. Y ¿cómo fue que nos hicimos! Pedí pescado y patatas fritas para un adulto y tres niños. El chico grinned y sugirió que debería comprar. Estaba tan cansado, me habría acordado comprar enormes porciones de todo. Como era, que dieron en el clavo! Nos sentamos a esperar, ya que todo estaba recién preparado. Cuando estaba listo, nos sentamos dentro como mis nietos estaban pendientes de las gaviotas sobrevolando y no quiero perder ninguna patatas fritas :). Fue absolutamente ace! Las fichas no eran grasienta y eran sabrosos. El pescado era abundante y, como dije antes, recién preparado. No puedo recomendar este lugar. Gente amable y sabrosa comida. Gracias. ¡volveremos! . Desde un muy agradecido y sus tres nietos abuelita :).

The food is amazing, great portion size, very reasonably priced, and the owner (Ozzy) is a legend! One of the friendliest most hard working most helpful guys you will ever meet in your life! Proud to be a working neighbour :)

El pescado estaba recién preparado y de buena calidad, bien masa también, pero las patatas fritas eran extraños, ni idea de qué tipo de patata que utilice, pero reconsiderarse. Seco y no tan bien. Es una pena que el pescado que tan bien.

Las raciones son enormes, hay tres de nosotros y compartir dos pescado y patatas fritas uno grande. Todos ellos están hechos mientras esperas. Va a empezar a hacer pronto los kebabs. En el momento en que hace salchichas, pasteles de pescado y platos ligeros. Son deliciosos. Que una vez nos dio un trozo de abeto pez fig que un cliente había pedido, él cocinado, pero no volver. Realmente era lo suficientemente bueno para nosotros, pero le gusta cocinarlo fresco.

No no si no cambiar el aceite o qué, pero me dieron patatas fritas desde allí en mi camino al trabajo y estaban sin sabor. Sin duda sé que patatas fritas calentar o recook ellos. Lo sé porque tarda alrededor de 10 minutos para hacer un lote de patatas frescas y 20 minutos para hacer el bacalao y patatas fritas, y he estado y salir a 2 minutos con patatas manky. Mi hijo también compró una hamburguesa y patatas fritas y última noche de viernes y de nuevo chips horrible y un panecillo seco. Son razonables y amable, aunque no tienen un montón de encargo. Y ahora sé por qué. Feliz Solla a pocos metros por la carretera en el lado opuesto es mucho mejor!

had a take away meal from there on Tuesday the chips were not cooked properly some were raw inside and some were cooked which leads me to belief some had been warmed up. Had to throw half the chips away as they were not edible.

We were visiting my mum in Margate, and arrived late, so thought we'd have fish and chips. This place is a couple of minutes walk away from my mums house, we waited a while for the food to cook, which was ok as we knew everything would be nice and fresh. The owner is a very friendly Turkish man and chatted while we waited. The wait was so worth it. We got home unwrapped our meal to find golden crispy fish and chips, perfectly cooked, with mushy peas. Absolutely devine, a must visit if you're in the area. We will be back!!!!

I visited this place on the last day of my visit to the area and wasnt disappointed. I had rock, chips and crusty bread and butter. Had to wait a little while (which i didn't mind) for the fish and chips to be cooked when ordered. The staff are friendly and down to earth and the prices are extremely reasonable. It is a small place and a typical local chippy and gets quite busy which is always a good sign and staff are friendly and talkative. I sat in and ate mine solely to concentrate on enjoying my food . My only disappointment was that i never ate their on my first night. If ever im in the area this would be my first stop off.
