The star rating forces me to choose between average and very good. Infact it was neither..better than average but not "very good". The staff were helpful in getting me accommodated at a table rather than the bar, as I had booked in error. They took our order promptly and all, at this point, was great. The taramasalata starter was good but the potted shrimps was odd...a (very) few rather tasteless, shrimps floating in a bath of melted butter rather than the more solid version I've usually eaten. The oysters, Irish, were great. Sadly the main and sides were a bit of a disaster. Not sure if the chef is a heavy smoker or has a tremor causing him to upset the salt pot but my skate wing (well cooked) was bathed in a brown fluid which resembled seawater in taste and salinity. This also applied to the sautéed greens...almost inedible with the saltiness. I raised this with the staff who tell me they will "mention it to the chef"....in a restaurant from the Michelin guide such a basic error should not happen. The puddings were fine.

A different experience on this moored barge on the canal. A little awkward to get to but no drama. Friendly welcome from the lovely staff. Food was excellent- langoustines were a sensation, followed by a whole plaice with crab- beautifully cooked and presented. The atmosphere is lively, being quite a small place and it's a laugh to be sitting at ground level as peoples' feet pass by....There is a special curved table at the end, which would be good for a few friends together. All in all a different experience with amazing fish!

Good food, but seating a problem. I am short, with a mobility problem. The seats are close together, high and swivel. I had considerable difficulty sitting on one. Another customer helped me. An employee said that customers often find that problem. Well why don't you change the seats! I nearly walked off. How could anybody in a wheelchair sit there?

Ok poke place, but they don’t accept cash and the food was average. Small but clean interior. The poke was nothing special

Had to visit this place for authentic English fish and chips. It was completely worth it and the staff were great. I ordered cod and chips to go and was not disappointed. The fish was crunchy and flaky with golden brown fried chips to complement. With tartar sauce on my cod and malt vinegar with salt on my chips along with a glass of Guinness, thank you guys for I was in gastro-heaven. Please come and open in NYC. We definitely need a true English fish and chips place.

We have been coming here for many years tonight we didn’t stay because Ryan was the rudest waiter we have EVER experienced he totally ignored us so we walked out as he glared at us through the window. Wow he’s in the wrong job, Sorry Barrafina we have loved you for years, since Frith St but he was just so rude we miss Fernando who is brilliant

Booked for an early lunch with a friend and we were both underwhelmed. The good points….lovely buzzy atmosphere, great seeing the food prepared and pleasant service. However, some of the food felt distinctly undercooked - runny and soft e.g. piquillo with smoked eel (couldn’t taste any fish and was squidgy and not a pleasant texture), cuttlefish croquettes - they were cold inside and the filling mushy though the taste was ok, the tortilla was swimming in liquid….was it undercooked egg? Not very pleasant. The skate was overcooked on one side and it’s not a good look when the best thing you had was the pear salad. Based on our experience we decided we wouldn’t eat at Barrafina again.

We visited for lunch. The service was lovely and the food very tasty- especially the grilled meats . We were however the only people in- I think it’s more a dinner place. We created our own atmosphere though and the service was warm and lovely
