I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern following my today experience at Scott’s I had hoped to enjoy a special anniversary dinner. Unfortunately, the evening was overshadowed by inconsistent treatment, an unwarranted reprimand, and a surprising exclusion from future visits — all based on unclear and unjustified grounds. ⸻ 1. Interference with Private, Non-Disruptive Recording During the meal, we attempted to discreetly record a short personal video at our own table to commemorate the occasion. This was a private and respectful act, not aimed at any staff or other guests. Despite this, a member of your team — and later the manager — approached us, stating that “private photography” was not allowed. The term itself seemed contradictory in this context, and the approach felt unnecessarily abrupt, particularly given that no disruption was being caused. To make matters worse, I witnessed staff members willingly taking photos for other diners that evening. This kind of selective enforcement suggests inconsistency, which undermines any stated policy. ⸻ 2. Unfair Dismissal of Reasonable Feedback I also gave measured and polite feedback regarding the food — noting that it was overly crispy. Rather than taking this constructively, the staff responded with visible irritation. This made us feel uncomfortable and reluctant to speak up further. Feedback should be welcomed, not treated as a nuisance. ⸻ 3. Inappropriate Use of Uncommunicated “Records” What was most concerning, however, was being told — based on previous feedback — that we were no longer welcome at the restaurant. At no point in any of our past visits was I informed that my feedback was being recorded, let alone that it could be used against me. I was not made aware of any policy or data collection practice, nor was I given any opportunity to respond or explain. This feels like a deeply unjust and unprofessional decision, made without transparency or balance. Being banned without discussion, based solely on staff perception and without factual review, is not only poor customer service — it raises serious concerns about fairness and how feedback is handled at Scott’s. ⸻ What I Am Requesting: • A clear explanation of why our private video was interrupted, and why photography was allowed for some but not for us. • Clarification of your policy regarding customer feedback and the keeping of records — including how guests are informed and how those records are used. • A formal acknowledgment that this situation was mishandled and that the treatment we received was inappropriate. ⸻ This was meant to be a personal, celebratory evening, and instead, we were left feeling judged, unwelcome, and humiliated. I hope you will take this complaint seriously and respond in a way that reflects the high standards your establishment is known for.

El restaurante ahora se llama espadines y fue una experiencia tremenda. Definitivamente regresaremos. Mi marido tenía un negroni; y bebí picpoul. No hay una carta de vinos, solo una pequeña selección de vinos para beber por copa. El caballero detrás de la barra me dejó probar 3 vinos blancos diferentes para ayudarme a elegir. Servicio exactamente perfecto. ¡La comida estuvo excelente! ! ! Calamares para empezar - el cielo y mi marido tenía croquetas de bacalao salado. Para platos principales tuvimos la lubina (excepcional) con col y bacalao y patatas fritas. Gran servicio, buena comida, ambiente divertido. . . . tan contentos que fuimos atraídos por la puerta por el caballero del restaurante. ¡Gracias por una velada tan memorable! ! ! !

Delicious food and nice food environment. What went well: We got the sourdough bread with taramasalata and the alioli and the bread was fresh and the sauces were delicious and homemade. Main courses of sea bass and tuna were brilliant and I highly recommend the chips. Staff were welcoming. To be improved: Disappointingly,disappointingly, the restaurant was out of the mussels and the green salsa for the starter. The sourdough pieces were also quite thin for the amount of sauce. Finally, in my opinion, the broccoli side felt a bit overcooked and under seasoned.

What an absolutely brilliant visit! Visited on Thursday lunch. We were plonked right in front of the kitchen with our little grandson, who was in full Tasmanian devil mode. Not exactly your ideal dining neighbour, but the staff couldn’t have been more lovely. Kat, the manager, deserves a medal. She managed to entertain the baby and the grandad who perked right up the moment she mentioned football stats (he's still convinced she should be managing the Blues). Honestly, if she ever fancies a side hustle in babysitting/grandad-wrangling, please let us know :) The food was spot on, the service was flawless, and the whole thing felt more like lunch at your favourite cousin’s than a restaurant. We’ll definitely be back — assuming they’ll still have us :)

Our first exposure to fish and chips and it was very delicious. Staff were a little surly on all 3 times I visited but probably because I'm a tourist whereas this feels like it is mostly a locals spot. Had the cod twice and had the haddock once. Fries weren't very crispy but that was probably because I took our orders to go and it is all wrapped up together in paper. Still tasty though. As a note, this place is CASH ONLY.
