The best restaurants serving Other european-cuisines food in Highlands and Islands

We didn’t eat at the restaurant but we we’re lucky enough to have Rupert come and cook for us for our wedding. It was an absolutely amazing display of chef work with a 5 course menu which highlighted the west coasts spectacular produce. Each course was extremely well thought through and we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding meal. Rupert is also a genuinely lovely bloke who is passionate about serving what is local and at its very best. Can’t wait to stop by at the Gorse Bush at the next opportunity.

Ambiance agréable quoi que un peu bruyante . Belle soirée passée dans ce restaurant . À la sortie une impression d’avoir très bien mangé ! Ce qui est le principal .

We were in Europe for a month already and this was the best meal by far. Lots of well prepared, fresh veggies. Chicken kebab was tender and flavourful, . Moussaka bechamel sauce was just right - so much food on the plates. Wine list offered variety of styles. Nice decor. Moderately priced. Highly recommended.

The food was excellent, great value for money. I had the cullen skink as a starter, then the duck breast in a jus, both were very tasty. The only downside was the dining room i was in, a little plain, not cosy or atmospheric, but i don’t think i was in the main dining area, but it wouldn’t stop me from returning, the food was good and the staff professional and friendly.

Absolutely bloody awful! Dreadful food and then a rotten atmosphere after we complained. We ordered mussels, they arrived very obviously off. A real health hazard. No show from the ‘chef’. The poor waitress having to serve substandard fare. However, she needs much more training if she’s to be customer-facing. Very, very slow service and half the things missing from the menu. Shocking deterioration in a place that used to be fabulous. North Uist deserves better.

Realmente decepcionado - no puedo comentar sobre la comida o el servicio, ya que nuestra mesa fue cancelada a última hora por el hotel. Había reservado para un té de cumpleaños por la tarde para mi madre y mi familia y tenía gente viajando desde Aberdeen específicamente para ello. Como sabíamos que la fecha era a principios de año y cerca del festivo nos fijamos en reservarlo mucho antes (el 19 de diciembre) y todo salió bien en ese momento. Incluso ayer recibimos un mensaje de recordatorio para asegurarnos de que no nos olvidábamos, solo para que el personal del hotel llamara hoy (día de la reserva) y alegara que no podían cumplir con la reserva ya que “se acababa de hacer en las últimas 24 horas”. Obviamente, no es así. Algunos créditos a ellos, fueron disculpados, pero sentir que esta cancelación de última hora fue poco profesional y una gran decepción a nuestros huéspedes. Nos ofrecieron cambiar nuestra reserva a un almuerzo, pero lamentablemente esto no funcionaría con algunos de los viajes de los huéspedes y otros planes prereservados para el día, y no estaba en el espíritu de la reserva original, ya que habíamos estado esperando el té de la tarde específicamente. Aunque todavía espero probar el lugar en el futuro, ya que me gustaría ver que lo haga bien, seré cauteloso con sus reservas antes de eventos en el futuro.

Zeer goed , heerlijk gegeten, zeer vriendelijk personeel. Mooie gerechten, fantastisch. Echt een aanrader ….. zeer de moeite waard

The Bearded Chef HQ Elgin disappointing 976934318 Truly disappointing, tough cold lamb, giving lamb a fancy name does nothing to improve poorly seasoned meat. The chicken others at the table had was the same. Out of 8 at the table we all left very disappointed with the food

Booked a table for 6 o’clock on a Saturday, booking was confirmed everything seemed okay. On Saturday noticed it said they were closed on Saturday so phoned up and were told they were closed.. we had not been informed and our special occasion was ruined as couldn’t get booked in anywhere else on such short notice. Very disappointed.

We were a group of 7 with 3 children. The restaurant was clean and cosy. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We all ordered different dishes. The food was tasty with substantial portions. But most importantly it was all home cooked. We travelled from London to visit family and this was a great find for us, beautiful home cooked food at reasonable prices. The Cullen skink was delicious and a local dish. The fish pie was hot, hearty and full of all different fish. Eat here and you won’t regret it

Don’t come here unless you are a hotel guest! We went to the empty restaurant for dinner at 17:45 only to be told that it’s only open for guests. There wasn’t anybody around.

Excellent meal here this week burger was of great quality and the fish was Devine in my husbands words.. thoroughly recommend

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel. The Staff were pleasant but there was a shining moment when we did a scotch tasting. Our expert on Scotch was Lorand. He was fabulous! He explained everything about the different Scotch’s we were tasting and a great deal about Scotch in general. It was a wonderful experience. Incidentally he was also our waiter and he excelled at that as well. If you come for food or a drink at the restaurant I would request him. Thanks for a great night Lorand!

Waren 2 x hier. Leckeres, einheimisches Bier. 🍕 und Lasagne war lecker, indisch + regional war auch lecker. Personal aufmerksam und freundlich. Würden wieder hier einkehren.

A very varied meal. We've been traveling around the UK for 10 days, and this was the best we've ever had, generous portions too. Special recommendations for the Turkish salad and the spaghetti Bolognese, fantastic ragu.
