Ordered chicken and mushroom pie and it was bland and tasteless. It was the first time that I did not finish a plate of food while eating out.

Food was bland and tasteless, had to keep adding salt to bring out some “flavour”. I had the chicken and mushroom pie and there was no taste at all. Price is not justifiable for the quality of food. Would rather eat somewhere else.

We had lunch at this place. Good thing we arrived before the rush of people. There’s only 2 guys working the tables. One of them was pretty rude. I saw him remove people from tables because they didn’t ask to be seated. The food was good. The toilet wasn’t very clean but it was better than the public one outside.

Large portions, friendly staff. There is a big choice on the menu. I had a vegetarian moussaka which was pretty good (if you like lots of cheese!).

Extremely slow service. Tried to claim credit card machine was not working just to avoid fees. Owner said they were out of an item and when we turned to leave, he claimed he had just enough for our order. Would not recommend.

Bad food and reheated, the food tastes like used oil. The disastrous attention, both the waiters and the cook, treat tourists badly. One star is a lot for them.

Once and never again. The drinks came in dirty glasses, the question is whether the food was really fresh. There were burping noises coming from the kitchen (really!!) and if you saw the tables being cleaned you can only imagine what the kitchen looks like.

After a three hour drive up this food definitely hit the spot! Got a takeaway and when I went to pick it up I wish I sat in place was welcoming and food smelt amazing. Great food and great staff would highly recommend

The place, although clean, has terrible service. The arrogance of both the cashier and the waiter is quite annoying, since they pressure you to order things and on more than one occasion we had to observe how they threw dishes on the table to other diners. It's not a place I would recommend.

Food is OK but they will jam customers in despite not having staff or ability to provide service. Why hand me a bill and walk away when I try to pay.

A well-established scam, CHECK YOUR ADDITION!! The only restaurant in Fort William that has room and opens late, a tourist trap. The dishes are gigantic but the quality is not at all there, there were 4 of us, 2 of us were sick in the evening. When paying, I ask for the bill, they send me to the counter, ok. At the counter, they don't tell me the amount and they don't show me a note, they simply hand me the payment terminal. We had calculated in advance how much we would have to pay with the menu because we had seen a notice warning of this scam, and it didn't fail. I saw that the amount was not good, so I mentioned it. Unfriendly, he lowered the amount by £1 but it still wasn't good so I asked him to get me the bill, he then threw the terminal angrily and walked away. His brother then replaced it, telling us that there was a calculation error (well let’s see…) and finally made us pay the correct amount. In short, save yourself the trouble.

Avoid, If we could have given 0 stars we would have done so. The kebab food is plentiful but the quality leaves something to be desired (fries and frozen pizza). BE CAREFUL, take a photo of the meal menu because when adding the bill the manager inflates the bill and gets angry if you ask for it. After printing the ticket and our calculation, the manager finally agreed to respect the announced prices.

SCANDAL! Don’t stop, it’s guaranteed to give you a headache and a stomach ache! This restaurant survives because they are open late and the other restaurants are full! Barely seated, the waiter asks you if you have chosen and complains because you have only just taken the menu. Do you want a burger? There aren't any even though the storefront says there are. Do you want pizza? No problem, it's frozen. Do you want a kebab? No problem you have a very hearty dish but of poor quality with inedible fries. With a 5 minute service. And if there was only that... unfortunately we came up against some high class scammers. You are foreigners so they allow themselves to add more than £6 to your bill. Politely we asked for the bill and then strangely the waiter got angry, changed our amount but it did not correspond to the price of the card. We asked for the bill a second time which the waiter did not like. He threw the terminal on the edge of the register in front of us, got angry and left. Luckily another person came to cash us and he printed the ticket and we paid the exact amount!! Hallelujah finally someone honest. Conclusion, don't go there, it's a disaster if you don't have the choice, choose to eat candy, McDonald's or Burger King.

RUN AWAY. The only restaurant open after 7 p.m. on Fort Augustus already smells of confusion. We sit down, order our meals (2 doner kebabs, pizza and chicken wings). Served in less than 10 minutes, and we understand why... Poor quality food straight out of the freezer, the fries that accompanied the doner kebab were filthy. Highlight of the show, we are treated to a scam sketch for the bill. ATTENTION ⚠️ Be sure to check your bill carefully. When paying, the first waiter does not tell us any price, hands over the TPE with an additional £6 to the bill (because yes, we had calculated beforehand). After telling him that it was the wrong amount, he reduced the bill by £1. So we asked him to get us the paper bill, after which he lost his temper and threw the TPE at us as he left. The second server therefore comes to us apologizing and claiming “an error”… Addition ok, it doesn’t stop there… Two of us were sick during the night that followed, a good mess comparable to this restaurant.

Welcome without a smile, No more possibility of eating on site. (After 9 p.m.) We still got takeaway, Not even a goodbye or a thank you.

When you come to see Loch Ness, get your food here. The portions are huge. I would recommend the chicken kebab, any of the baked potatoes (best I've had in a long time), veggies pizza and the chicken nuggets. You can order your food and then come back later to pick it up. Do yourself a favor and eat here!

Bad and expensive! We had fish & chips, the chips were soft and tasteless, boring salad, the fish was Ok but it was way too expensive, £20 is just too much. The staff were nice but there was a TV playing with loud Turkish music constantly, not very pleasant. The toilets are downright disgusting, smell of urine. Definitely won't come again.

Stopped here for lunch and the location is in the middle of town and close to everything touristy. The atmosphere was ok but the loud Turkish videos on the tv were a little annoying. The service was good. The food could have been better but the portions were huge. I had the calamari and it was overcooked and had a burnt fryer taste. I had the lamb and portions of it were dry but the rest was very good. It’s an ok place but not the best I have been too.

Tourist trap to be carefully avoided, -Non-existent education, rude and annoyed waiter -Fast food, but they charge you like a luxury restaurant (€17 for a skimpy fish & chips with chips that could be squeezed to recover the oil) -Bathrooms unapproachable We understood why it was the only one with room while all the others were full. They take advantage of tourists, knowing that they will never come back again.

I don't like leaving negative reviews but... If all the places are full and this one always has room, there's a reason. *Food: it might not be bad (depends on what you choose), the problem is that the quality is fast food and the prices are restaurant-style, expensive ones. *Ambience: A little noisy and almost pleasant, except that your clothes will smell like fried food for a week. *Staff: the guy who prepares the food behind the counter seemed friendly and helpful, the waiter is terrible; overbearing and rude bordering on aggressive. *Hygiene and cleanliness... Better to leave your judgment aside and not venture out, especially into the bathrooms. . It's a shame because the place would also be nice and in a fairly strategic position. Luckily Fort Augustus offers several alternatives.

The food is not bad, but it is very expensive

So they are "nice" but not at all professional, they seem like friends who are having a party and who stop by from time to time to serve you. They're probably trying to look casual but it's not working. They played French music... RAP, great! We're going to another country to listen to this... (YouTube with the ad!) The decoration could be good but nothing is thought through and everything seems dusty, not to mention the bottles, almost thrown into the fridge. The soup was good. The bread, pizza and fried nuggets appear to be frozen, really not delicious. We asked for water, we were served a glass each (no carafe). And to top it all off, he takes out the ticket for us to pay and tells us to add more because the service is not included!

Lovely service with freindly owners and a wide selection of food that tasted well and cooked to perfection. Minor issues with cleanliness of toilets and tables but overall amazing and severely underrated. Would recommend

People, please go somewhere else! Overpriced and extremely bad fast food. It wants to be a restaurant, but it's at best a bad snack bar. You get ripped off here (they cheekily negotiate tips). Prices are completely unreasonable and unfair. This place doesn't really deserve a star!

I’ve rarely had such a strange time. The staff welcomed us warmly. We then had to wait quite a long time to give our orders. When he finally came, our waiter was taking his time joking around, which could have been pleasant if we hadn’t waited so long already. The kebabs were not kebabs, just piles of meat with two sad tiny pieces of pitta bread on the side; the chips were soggy and tasted like sour oil; my aunt almost choked herself to death because her plate was dusted in cayenne pepper (for a smoked salmon salad, which prompts the question: why?); the cappuccinos were straight up bad. Overall the prices were way too high for what it was. The icing on the cake was the waiter trying to get us to add 10% to the total bill because apparently they charge this for tables of more than 6 people. He backed off when he realised we wouldn’t let that slide easily. It suddenly became up to us to add that amount as a tip “if we were happy”. We were not so we didn’t. If you have to go there, stick to the fried stuff and the grilled meats. You won’t be able to avoid the greasy chips if you do that, but at some point decisions have to be made. Also, our waiter was a bit handsy. Beware.

Poorly managed place. It's overpriced. The food is not bad. The waiter is trying hard to be nice, however, there is something wrong with him, he is being too nice in an awkward way if you know what I mean, like if he was pretending so, or if he is like over doing that !! Insincere smile !! It felt uncomfortable. Not to mention the embarrassing way that they ask for a tip !! They call it a service tax 20% !! They will tell only if you ask for an invoice! Normally, I leave a generous tip when I like the service, but not in such an abusive way !!! I was courageous enough to say No to him, I Don't want to leave a tip !! The only advantage is the location.

Tourist from The United States. I entered with my family this evening and was treated amazingly by the owner of the establishment. I believe his name was Ken. My sister is special needs and wheelchair-bound and he was able to make sure she had enough room to comfortably eat as well as treating her to a dessert and apple juice complimentary! A lot of the reviews are complaining about a service charge and it being a “tourist trap”. Coming from the USA it is very common to tip 20% or more and a lot of the service charge reviews should be rethought. Amazing experience and also hands down the best food we have had in Scotland or Ireland.

We entered a little quickly, waited a while before getting the cards... that's when we should have left... Plus, it was very noisy. Not very good and not cheap at all... And what's more, they add the service at the end (around 20%). So it comes down to an exorbitant price for what we ate. Conclusion: our most expensive meal of our stay. “Tourist trap” step: check!

HORRIBLE! Noise, mess, not much service, artificial fries, also artificial nuggets, the only thing missing was the juice I bought, they also had dirty dishes.

The staffs were rude and unprofessional. We ordered three large size takeaways but discovered that we were given regular sizes instead. Despite ordering a coffee to enjoy there, we weren’t allowed to sit inside. Instead, they asked us to wait outside, promising to bring the food to us, but no one came even after half an hour. When we inquired, we found that the food had been ready all along. Additionally, the coffee was of poor quality, with more water than coffee, and it was lukewarm. The staff lacked basic etiquette and displayed a complete lack of concern for customer service. It was a thoroughly disappointing experience. WISH I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE RATINGS !

Despite the negative reviews here, I think this place was quite good. Maybe if you order the traditional food and expect great traditional Scottish food you'll be disappointed but if you order other stuff like we did, you'll love it. I got the Special of the day - Grilled Sea Bass. This was an amazing alternative to the damn fish and chips we see everywhere. The sea bass was moist and tender, and it was on a bed of roasted vegetables, which we desperately craved after many days of just fried food. We also got the Turkish salad which was a very refreshing mix of cucumber, dill, tomato and onions. Though it was a bit too liquidy, the overall taste was great bc of its tanginess and freshness. We also got the BBQ ribs which also had great flavor.

Fast service with a huge selection of food. From fish and chips to burgers to pizza and beyond. The Hawaiian pizza I ordered tasted great. Unfortunately, the chips in my dish and chips left a lot to be desired. The chips tasted a bit undercooked. Otherwise, the rest of my order was nice.

The manager here is the Middle East’s answer to Basil Fawlty - a fawning, insincere smile complemented by dismissive, passive-aggressive behaviour that is in no way compensated for by the quality of the food delivered. The final insult is the pressure to leave a tip for the middling quality food and complete lack of customer service. The ONLY thing that permits this place to survive is its fortunate location, which captures the unwary stranger. Visit only if you would like to have an object lesson in how NOT to run an eatery.

I do not recommend it in any case. It's not just the price, which is much more expensive than usual in the area, but they add an extra 20% for the service, without warning. The food is pitiful for the price you pay... almost anywhere you eat better and the service is slow and clueless. All this wouldn't bother me so much if they were at least upfront and warned about that extra 20%. They take advantage of tourism and the fact that no one is going to return again

Since we were running late, we asked the servers if they could possibly box our orders so we could make it back to our bus in time. Not only did they ensure we made it out in time, they graciously threw in free drinks on top of their incredible service. Both of the servers were working incredibly hard from the time we arrived until the time we left. Thank you!

Great service and friendly owners! There were only two people working and the restaurant was full, but everything was coming out smoothly! We were running a bit late on time (our fault for poor planning, not their's) so we asked them to bring to-go boxes out with our food immediately. They did just that and even added in free cans of pop! The whole time they were apologizing even though it was not their fault at all! Food was also great! Very convenient location as well, right by the look out.

Food average but our experience was not good due to a server who I can only describe as half cut (near drunk) he was manic to say the least and took our order about 3 times and kept apologizing for coming back to us then brought wrong drinks to us too I probably would give it a miss if I'm in the area again.

Overpriced food - we did not get the receipt for what we ate and left the place with the feeling that we paid way too much: +50 pounds for 2 fish and chips, 2 glasses of coca cola (not a full can).

Poorly managed and operated! The restaurant is not clean, the service is not welcoming and food not fresh. We requested take out and were told no but another customer was provided it. Highly disappointed!

My family of four had lunch at Moorings. The prawn sandwich had some sort of small prawns made into a liquidish egg/prawn salad in the middle. It was bland and suspiciously liquid-ey. The chicken kebab dish had the kebabs feeling a bit rubbery and the chips weren’t fried properly. The lentil soup tasted like it came out of a can or a box. The margherita pizza was a-okay, but a bit too cheesy. We also tried to order the pakoras from the takeaway menu but got a stern “Sorry, not now!” response. All in all, avoid the food if you can. That’s a shame because the ambience / environment of the place is quite nice!

Dry chicken, prices more expensive than those on the menu, outside they have take away ones, on the menu they give you the price of small water and they end up charging you €5 for a large water and finally after the theft they tell you to pay them a 10 or 15% more tip. The worst restaurant we were in in all of Scotland.

As soon as I walked in with my assistance dog, I was vocaly jumped on by 3 male members of staff. I was told my dog couldn't go in, I showed them my assistance card, my dog also had his assistance equipment on. They said that it didn't matter about the card. I explained that they were breaking the law. They didn't care, the one cooking said I could get a takeaway. I was so upset that I refused. What a horrible experience of my first day on holiday. Horrible men.

I’ve eaten here a few times and always go for the mixed kebab which is amazing. At £24 it looks pricey but the size of the portion is massive. It’s certainly not cheap but I’d say worth every penny. You have to understand as well that businesses in rural places rely on summer tourism to sustain the whole year. They still pay same rent, rates and arguably more for energy. For that reason, I feel a lot of the reviews I see for this place are unreasonable. It gets 10/10 from me and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend 👏👏

If you come here, get take away. Do not eat here. The waiter/manager/jack-hole working was honestly the worst person I had met in any setting in my entire life. When we walked in, everyone seemed friendly enough. This was the only place open and we had been driving all day so we were ready to eat. After waiting for a few minutes, he finally came over and told us he would be back in 10 seconds. 5 minutes later I decided to come over to the counter to order, trying to be nice because they were overwhelmed and he abruptly shouted “8 seconds!” We finally ordered and he continued to harass my wife by stating “oh she doesn’t like me?” And “Can I get anyone water besides her?” Just trying to be funny without reading the room. After we finished eating we were all annoyed and ready to go, but then he proceeds to continue making comments on how my wife needs to not look so miserable (because it would age her) and she was being racist towards him (they are both Arab, her more so than him- which we know because he told us his entire genetic history). She obviously got up and left, and he STILL insisted on lecturing me and my mother in law about my wife’s issues, then proceeded to ask for a tip. The only reason we paid is because we aren’t horrible people like this man is.

The Moorings is a casual and delightful Mediterranean/Italian restaurant. We shared the Döner pizza which was a new combination for us. The bread crust was delicious and the döner meat with fresh green peppers and onions was fantastic. Staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Tip: save room for the baklava!

Extortionate prices - this place is scamming tourists. Warning! We slipped into this place by chance, we each took a kebab plate and a draft beer - SEK 700 we had to pay for a bad kebab with a sour draft beer.

Ockerpriser - lurar turister - varning! Vi halkade av en slump in på detta ställe och beställde in varsin kebab tallrik med varsin fatöl - 700kr. Kebaben smakade inte bra- personalen var stressad och ointresserad- ölen smakade surt.

NO ⭐️ (but Google wouldn’t let me) I am a chef and I probably have never left a restaurant this angry in my life. I know what good food tastes like and this was not it. Good food does not have to be expensive at all. All I’m asking for is to feel welcome and have a nice meal for a reasonable price. What did we get? Well… 1. The waiter was rude. 2. Our food did not even LOOK appetising. Peas from the jar (you can’t convince me otherwise), the fish died twice and the chips have not seen a fryer before. 3. I asked how big the “traditional fish ‘n’ chips” was and all I got as an answer was “madam, I can’t tell you that. Normal portion.” We are in the UK, I bet my last shirt that the fish n chips are very popular so do not dare lying to me that you do not know the size of it. And to top that all off, the “normal” portion was about £20. Let’s compare this: in Ayr at Marcos Fish ‘n‘ Chips you can get EXCELLENT fish ‘n’ chips, BLOODY PERFECT for £7. I’ll guarantee you a grown man will be full after that. THIS however ?! A joke.. I literally felt insulted. Oh, you think that was it? You are sadly mistaken, dear reader. We went to the front to pay. A different guy ignored us, didn’t say a word until he printed the receipt. And he had the audacity to say “this is just for the food. Service is not included so far”. And I simply said “I know.” He repeated himself which left me no other option than to answer bluntly: “you won’t be getting anything for your service. We were not satisfied.” All I got was a shocked face and “do you want the receipt?” OH YES, this belongs in a museum cause I am shocked, speechless and angry that as a chef and restaurant owner you take advantage of this famous location to rip people off. This lunch did its basic job but nothing more and nothing less. One teeny tiny suggestion cause I am not Nessy: You gotta love what you do, then you’ll taste the love, too.

Staff were friendly but we were charged £10 for 2 small pieces of baklava to take away and a small pot of ice cream from a machine. Ice cream had a real chemical taste so I threw it in the nearest bin! Total overpricing. We should have checked the pricing first!! Our fault . Would not return

Food was lukewarm at best and really cheap and nasty quality. Very expensive for what you get though (£34 for a wee cheeseburger and some chicken nuggets and chips 😳). Atmosphere was awful too with loads of people standing right next to our table as we were trying to eat. Wouldn't recommend.

We ate here these days. Well, you have to say that it was the worst food we were served. I had fish & chips and the fish was just acceptable. The chips are still raw and also cold. And my wife had Gammon steak with chips. This too was not properly fried and half raw and cold. And then the price was really overpriced. Total about 45 pounds including 2 cans of coke for 3.45 pounds each 🙈. Even the service charge was extra. Please find another restaurant. Absolutely not recommended. Pure tourist rip-off. Called for a table and was told just to arrive. Drove 30 mins to get there to be told they were closing due to short staff... Couldn't have said on the phone?

A catastrophic experience. Dirty cutlery, dirty tablecloth. A tasteless burger: a steak, a slice of tomato, a slice of cucumber between two buns. Fast service since the dishes are not cooked… Very bad restaurant.

Have a big menu but the food we ordered was just reheated in the microwave. Chips were undercooked and probably sitting there for a while as they were not hot nor crispy. Essentially below par food that was also overpriced. They should stick to Turkish food and leave it at that. Definitely would not recommend to anyone.

Had a delicious lunch of Salmon and my wife had a vegetable dish that she said was very good. It is located at the locks in Ft Augustus

The food was, at best, average. The chips seemed to be left over from the day or meal before and possibly reheated. My meal was a seafood dish with fish, prawns etc. I didn't expect a mini prawn cocktail with my fish. The whole meal was disappointing.

We left again. There was no greeting on arrival. Menu cards were thrown on the table and they were unimaginative.

If you want tasteless food, this is the place for you.
