Had a really nice traditional Sunday roast dinner at Dovetale. Portions were large so it was a good value for the price (the meal came with tons of sides). My kids loved the famous Knickerbocker ice cream trolley! The restaurant had good ambience and the staff were attentive. Will definitely come back.

We enjoyed a really lovely afternoon tea at The Peers Dining Room. The food was delicious, staff attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. Such a unique experience. Every single member of staff from security at the entrance to the waiters in the dining room were helpful, informative and extremely pleasant. Looking forward to a return visit.

I had read the good reviews but nothing prepared me for just how good this is for superb simple food in simple surroundings. My wife ordered Potato Pancakes with Hunters Stew and was warned she didn't need a starter. In fact, it was more than enough for two - and included cucumber in a light sour cream and mixed vegetable salad. I ordered Pea Soup but a Potato and Smoked Meat Soup arrived - it was sensational. I followed with Mixed Pirogi - again excellent. The charming woman in charge spoke enough English to take orders. The vast majority of people here appeared to be Poles although as I can't speak Polish I can't be sure. At £26 it was a bargain. The restaurant does a fixed 3 course lunch for less than £10.

Outstanding service and food. We went to L’oscar restaurant for my birthday, we received a complimentary portion of prawns, some sourdough bread and butter and smoked salmon as starters, from the chef and they were all delicious and fresh. For main we had steak to share for 2 which was stunning. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding which was not my favourite. Very nice place with friendly and professional staff.

I had travelled down from Manchester for football and was staying at the Premier Inn in Canning Town. Usually when in London I seek out a pie and mash shop but I was too late for the local one so opted for this restaurant only a few minutes walk from my hotel.Rather like my team ( Manchester City) bringing on Kevin De Bruyne in the game in question--- this was a more than acceptable substitute. The decor is the first thing that struck me -- it appears to be traditional Ukrainian-- indeed I heard a member of staff say that this was their stated aim. First off -- order a beer. A bottle of Ukrainian beer duly arrived together with an earthenware mug for its consumption. An excellent start- if that is typically Ukrainian then I'm all for it. For food I opted for Ukrainian borscht-- apparently a national dish-and an endangered part of Ukrainian heritage according to UNESCO !!!. It is still very much alive and kicking in this part of the East End. It was delicious and contained far more ingredients than I expected ( I was expecting little more than beetroot) It was a meal in itself -served as a very generous portion in a large earthenware bowl Next course was pork dumplings. I wasn't sure whether these would be large like those I had eaten in the Czech Republic or more akin to Polish pierogi. They turned out to be like the latter but better than any pierogi I had eaten with a very tasty filling. The meal was rounded off by a conversation with the lovely lady who was running the place with a male assistant.I could have stayed much longer chatting but had to leave to get to Tottenham Thank you to all for such a fabulous meal and your superb hospitality. I read afterwards that some of their profits were being donated to support their Ukrainians back home during the war. Even more reason to visit

After our walk in the park we wanted to have tea and chat. My friend went in and asked if they served tea, they said yes, we were told to sit in garden which was nice but soon after two men came out and started smoking and went inside ordered teas and deserts. They didn't serve milk with tea and it wasn't herbal tea it was English Breakfast (never known English tea without milk), I was taken back with that. When it come to pay it was either we pay by cash or bank transfer but no card payment. We always pay for our food and drinks, I was OK as I had cash but my friend needed to setup a new customer but she couldn't as she didn't have a card reader. We were not shouting but kept on telling the waitress that my friend cannot setup customer to pay but the waitress thought we were having a go at her. We must have told her 20 times that the account cannot be set up and she kept saying she understands and then say make the transfer. It's absurd all you need is a cheap PDQ machine to pay by card or keep card readers for all the banks and building societies so that the customer can set up account to pay you, if not than train your staff better. Luckily I found some cash to pay my friend's bill otherwise it was terrible attitude of the waitress. Also serve milk with English breakfast tea.

Friday 12th we went for the first time to upstairs, we came in and we’re welcomed with surprise (even though we had a reservation). Sat at a hightable facing the window, we asked for sparkling water but got still water. The waiters came to see us after 40MIN and many head turns on our part to take our order (food or drinks). We ordered all of our food and drinks in one go, our starters were actually delicious. This followed by a shared seabass. At that point my partner asked twice for a wine menu to have a glass of wine, nobody came to take our order. Our plates were not changed from the shared starters. We got a whole fish, no plate to put the bones. The server dropped fries when putting our fries on our table and said I’m sorry I’ll bring more. Ofcourse, they did not come back with new fries. Again the food was actually really good. Flakey fish lots of taste. At the end of our meal they did not even ask if we enjoyed our meal. I believe this is even standard practice at Nando’s, I assumed this would be the case at an affiliate Michelin restaurant. We had good food but it was ruined by the service. It was almost like the stuff intentionally ignored us.

Gorgeous cafe with great coffee & cake, staff and music and a play area for children & their carers. Quiet and friendly and easy and we are all so sad the Snug is closing :(
