We enjoyed a really lovely afternoon tea at The Peers Dining Room. The food was delicious, staff attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. Such a unique experience. Every single member of staff from security at the entrance to the waiters in the dining room were helpful, informative and extremely pleasant. Looking forward to a return visit.

Having had a fabulous lunch here this year booked a birthday treat Afternoon Tea. After security checks were escorted to our table in the far corner. This is a stunning venue. Tea and drinks order taken. No one asked about allergies. Drinks and tiered plates with afternoon tea arrived promptly. Pleasant but not spectacular. We were told to order more of anything as required. The venue was not fully booked. Then sat and watched every other table being asked repeatedly if anything else was wanted, whilst being ignored. Several members of staff passed our table. After over 20 minutes we left and went to reception to explain our problem. Apologies all round. Too late as experience was ruined. Drinks were comped, service charged removed and remaining food boxed up. Having travelled over 40 miles very disappointed. Would not recommend.

So we’re up in town , wandering around Victoria as it’s our anniversary today - Parliament for lunch! (As photography was not allowed- photo credit goes to Tripadvisor and its contributors from 2016 - to well , 2018 ish…- when you obviously could take pictures as there’s loads here and with words you need pictures to tell a good story eh? ) ; with these repurposed old images they still make perfect representation of our day today in 2024 - taking part in the Public Dining Experience @ the Peers Dining Room, House of Lords, Palace of Westminster🎉👏❤️it was fabulous. Staff , from security- , guides , bar and restaurant all polite, friendly and welcoming…outstanding service and food . Credit to Vitor and the team ! I just hope I can do this again soon - public dining is clearly only when there’s no one at work - so we’re lucky to do this as there’s an election on (in case you hadn’t noticed) here’s 🤞you can do something similar during the next Government holiday/recess 👍😉😊

Just been to the Lords Dining Room for luncheon with my husband. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures on pain of death by an armed policeman 😳 However it was one of the most outstanding meals and experiences I have ever had. Incredible Michelin quality food, fabulous service and all set by the side of the Thames. £55 for 3 courses, homemade bread with coffee and petit fours after. Utterly stunning - and I’m picky!! We’ll be back as soon as we possibly can!!

We were in London for a trip to the theatre, the excellent Frank and Percy at the Other Palace. My son, who works in the Parliament building asked if we would like to join him and eat in the Peers Dining Room to end our day. We jumped at the chance, it wasn’t our first experience of eating in the Houses of Parliament but certainly the best. We had thought to start with a drink at the bar next door but it was very full so went straight in to the dining room, it was quiet when we began. The staff were attentive, informative and quietly efficient. The cocktails we began with an excellent start to our meal. None of us had a starter but I would have been happy with any of them. We had 3 different mains from the good choice of dishes, they were all well presented and tasty. The roasties were some of the best I have had. It all arrived at the same time. The wine list is excellent value and the Shiraz I had by the glass very good. Our table had 3 different desserts and one person the cheese, all very good. The bill was outstandingly good value for the 5 of us. I have read the scathing report written by Jay Rayner, it saddens me that he attacked the staff, it was a very nasty review. What was his problem, did the staff not bow and scrape enough. I for one was very happy with our experience, I have worked in the catering industry all my life and could not fault our meal.

Came here to celebrate a friends birthday and really impressed with the food, service and value for money. Coming to the Houses of Parliament clearly isn’t an everyday occurrence for an eastender like myself so the experience was a pleasantly good one.. not too pompous at all. Menu was varied, plenty of choice and catering for all. The real surprise was the portion sized, very sizeable a considering where we were and we had the al a carte Staff were good although I get they need to be strict on no cancel on the birthday cake and no singing happy birthday.. 🤣 I would definitely come again even in a normal occasion

A wonderful luncheon in surroundings not usually encountered by most people, this elegant restaurant is only open to the public during Parliamentary recess. This restaurant known as the members restaurant is only open to the public when the house is not sitting ie in the run up to the General Election, unless you go through your MP. Wonderful building as you walk to the restaurant, large paintings, previous Prime Ministers and great architecture. Three course meal Good choice of food to a high standard. The wine is very reasonably priced from £24 and good quality. Check out the chocolate tart, not what you expect, yummy. Be aware you may see the odd mouse scuttle across the floor, we did but the waiters were used to it as they see it from time to time

An interesting and unique location for lunch. (There is usually a waiting list and dates are limited). Delicious food and excellent service. We couldn't fault it and came away happy and sated. The security and searches to get into the place were bordering on being offensive however it is a sign of the times. Distant glimpses of non-public rooms and libraries added to the feeling of being privileged to dine there. A post meal drink in St Stephen's Tavern opposite the Houses of Parliament where Winston Churchill is reputed to have had the odd drink with other politicians is a good end to the day.

I Had an excellent Lunch in the Peer's Dining Room as the guest of a peer friend of mine. As one would expect the organisation was perfect and the staff first class. My starter was seafood cocktail which was very tasty and my main course was roast pork with excellent crackling and accompanying vegetables. We drank excellent cold Sauvignon Blanc. Before lunch, I was fortunate to be taken through the Royal gallery and shown two wonderful large floor to ceiling paintings of Waterloo ...Wellington meeting Blucher at the La Belle Alliance inn before defeating Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 containing an ancestor of my friend on horseback and 'The Death of Nelson', graphically depicting the death of Lord Nelson, after being shot aboard H.M.S Victory at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Both these paintings are being cleaned and renovated and the lighting improved so they will look even more spectacular in the future.

This is a rare priviledge as tables are snapped up as soon as they are advertised but having gone through very thorough Security screening, probably more thorough than most airports, we finally arrived in magnificent Westminster Hall which is totally awe inspiring. We progressed into the corridors of power where no photography of any sort is permitted so that the glorious surroundings have to be filed away in memory. We were escorted to the Bar which is ornate with a lovely high ceiling, there are historic portraits hanging on the beautiful panelling and we were fortunate to obtain a table overlooking the Thames to St Thomas's Hospital on the South Bank. We both had very well mixed cocktails which were well made, accompanied by home made vegetable crisps and Japanese nibbles. We were shown to our table in the L-shaped dining room which has rather special wallpaper and many recognisable historic portraits, including a lovely one of Elizabeth I.The menu is not extensive but sufficient and I would have been happy with any of the choices from quite an unusual menu. I had a crab and scallop starter, beautifully arranged on the plate, my friend had a mini steak tartare which looked most appealing.A delicious duck dish followed, arranged to perfection and I finished with a superb lemon posset.I had expected 'school food' so that the presentation, quality and service was a huge surprise and I can understand why this is a very exclusive club.Perfect in every way and you will be very lucky to be able to book a table when the House is not sitting.

At the risk of repeating everyone else's review - once passed the security check, you get to wander into the Great Hall and through corridors and through the chambers where you will normally see the BBC doing their interviews.......I managed to get a sneaky peek at the House of Lords Chamber. Then off to the bar for a couple of G&T's before lunch. As others have said its £45 including coffee and petit fours. We had the cheese as dessert at an extra charge and I suspect the other desserts might have been better value - but other than that - the lunch was nice - the wine list wasn't exorbitant and the service was utterly charming (more bread kept coming at the start and more coffee at the end)As an opportunity to see and feel the whole history as well as have a drink and nosh - I would go for it!p.s. you won't find many photo's of the place - taking photo's is prohibited!

Passing through the airport style security you then wander through the great hall and into the places you only see on TV news programmes. The whole place as you would expect just reeks of history and to the untrained eye 5* all the way.We had a little snifter in the bar before lunch, good views of the terrace and Thames if you are near a window. Then into the dining room- just as you would expect the great and good to enjoy their lunches. Red leather everywhere. The service was 10/10 and the food 7/10 nothing particular but a few small points such as an over cooked piece of fish that you know was kept on the pass a little to long. But worth every penny with a good selection of wines to suit the poor commoner. No rush to finish. What was especialy nice was the staff going out of their way to show you the Lords chamber and other out of the way places and making the experience even nicer.Finished by way of the gift shop- have to buy a few things dont you|?

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the Peers' Dining Room, food was creative, accomplished & very tasty. The offer is a 3 course menu with 4 choices in each category plus petits fours & coffee. At £45 per head it is fair to say the public don't benefit from the subsidised rates which the Lords enjoy but it is well worth it for the overall experience & food is good enough to justify the cost. Only my pudding (Carrot & Sultana) disappointed but all other dishes were excellent. Staff were absolutely outstanding throughout & could not have been more obliging & friendly & the environment whilst formal is not stiff & starchy. Security personnel were also very pleasant & getting through wasn't a long winded affair. This was only the 4th time the Peers' Dining Room has been opened to the public, the next occasion is during the Conference Recess in September 2016.

A friend in the States had sent us an article about dining here (only possible during the Parliamentary recess) and we impulsively made a reservation. On the day of we showed up at the side entrance, were ushered through the various security regimes, and allowed into Westminster Hall, an enormous medieval space most recently used for the banquets that follow coronations, among other things. Wending our way through the old an musty corridors and landings we arrived at a round antechamber decorated with the patron saints of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, and presented ourselves to the (Italian) major-domo who handed us off to his (Irish) assistant who took us to the bar, which is a wonderful space filled with red leather chairs, red flocked wall paper and impressively giant paintings of Napoleonic sea battles. We had very credible cocktails and then proceeded to the dining room which is likewise done up in grand style where we were handled expertly by the very English (but proper working class English) maitre' d and the charming Italian and other immigrant wait staff; all these people were relaxed, professional, and filled with a sense of good humor that seemed in part, at least, to come from the fact that they were serving civilians rather than the (no doubt) stuffy Lords and Ladies and (one suspects) their often very fancy guests, and so could take things easy and have a simple chat between courses. As such, it was quite enjoyable and, with pretty solid food, pretty well prepared, the whole event was very satisfying. One suspects (and this was confirmed by the staff) that the peers lubricate their meals here with a fair amount of spirit and so we decided to at least follow their example within our means and we were not disappointed. We would recommend this to anyone looking for an unusual experience, but you have to plan ahead and set aside at least three hours for the whole thing....

Attended the Peers' dining room for an evening of fine dining. Just walking through Westminster Palace was a joy. Our first course was chargrilled asparagus tossed in sea salt with lemon and classic bearnaise which was not to my liking being cold but my wife ate hers and mine. The mains wasroasted rack of lambserved with minted Hollandaise and a jersey royal and spring onion salad. Dessert was Knickerbocker glory topped with vanilla ice cream, it was the strangest knickerbocker glory I've ever had but the whole room went silent whilst everyone ate it and not one person left any. We were then served up a selection of English cheeses with a selection of breads and biscuits followed by coffee and a small presentation box containing two hour of lords chocolates. Our meal also included wine and the waiters constantly topped your glass up all evening. Made the mistake of going into a cafe where there were no other customers. I think I now know why. Visited the premises in the Square. Latte and croissant, paid immediately by card, lukewarm coffee, stale croissant then on leaving was accused of not paying. They made a check of their records and voila, it seems I had. Quite embarrassing and won’t be back.
