Came in for dinner and felt so good I didn’t want to leave. Very welcoming , fantastic atmosphere with live music mainly played by Joseph on several instruments including the famous cowbells, but we could also join in singing which was a bonus. The food was very good, especially the Schweinebraten, but also the Schnitzel, and the Apfelstrudel, as was the Austrian beer. Will definitely return!

Great atmosphere but the food is overpriced and not great quality. Josef is brilliant. He creates a traditional Austrian atmosphere playing Tirolean tunes and playing the cowbells which was all lovely. The food however was disappointing and overpriced. My friend is vegetarian and there was very limited choice. We both had ķäsespätzel and it was more like a reheated macaroni cheese than anything I've eaten in Austria. We had kaiserschmarm for dessert which wasn't very fresh and was served with a small portion of what appeared to be tinned prunes or maybe cherries.....we weren't quite sure. I've been to this restaurant a few times before and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food used to be very authentic (I've lived in Austria) but sadly the current chefs don't appear to be to the same standard. Such a shame.

Josef and his daughter are the stars of this place but the rest is really lacking. We came as a group and had a booking for weeks and were seated in the bar area by the door, rather than the main restaurant, where literally everything is happening. We've asked to be moved and they tried their best but we had to wait 1.5hrs in the end in wich we've been very neglected. We had after an hour the sausage plate, which I find almost an insult, a tiny luke warm selection of sausage bites for £10. The pretzel had 0 salt on it and was chewy and moist on the bottom. The best thing was the sweet mustard that came with it (which is however from the jar obviously). The other staff members are sadly highly incompetent and not particularly fun or friendly. We then shared a veal schnitzel (very small), Schweinsbraten (overcooked, almost no gravy) and cheese fondue (the fire to keep it hot wasn't working and the bread was stale). Nothing was hot, it was all just luke warm and felt reheated. The cucumber salad and Sauerkraut we've ordered on the side were nice. I had to get up multiple times to ask for the flame to be fired up again, for another round of drinks and just for some level of service and attention. For such a pricey restaurant, I woukd expect checkbacks and looking after. Coming from Germany, I was surprised to be paying £100 per head and still being hungry and also the lacking quality of food and service. The entertainment is superb. You clearly come here to see Josef perform but in that case I would eat elsewhere and come for 1 Stein. It's way to expensive for what you get! And the service is shocking. Not what it used to be which is a shame because we came back because we had a great evening before but we won't again after this experience.

I rarely take the time to negatively criticize a restaurant but to avoid others being fooled... We were caught because of the favorable comments but which unfortunately are far from reality. So disappointed!! Our worst meal in London in two weeks. Cheese fondue that only tastes like wine and béchamel, making you wonder if there is cheese, pieces of soft bread and way too big. The wine by the glass is more than ordinary and the service almost non-existent. As for the Austrian atmosphere, a recording of stressful music and in no way pleasant. We were given a table for 2 in the farthest corner (as it was really small to eat a fondue, we kindly asked for a larger table which they refused claiming a full restaurant and throughout the evening it was not There were only 2 other tables occupied… We left disappointed and frustrated having paid more than $115 CDN not such an ordinary meal...

Amazing atmosphere and food. The staff are so welcoming and the Austrian live music somehow turns the restaurant into a dance party. The area near the stairs is calmer if you prefer more quiet. This is a true Austrian experience. The menu has all the delicacies that come in mind when you think of Austrian cuisine. There’re wursts cooked to perfection, schnitzels as you would expect them to be not too oily and also well cooked. The beer is draft from Austria: Stiegl which some call the best. The atmosphere is typical Austrian Bierkeller style. Once you go downstairs it’s as if you move across the border :) The show you get with the cowbells, the saxophone, the org and singing is a very genuine and fun experience. I would suggest booking a table for big groups and if you’re are a party of 2 you may still find a table.

An impossible to describe, psychedelic Tyrollean cellar experience. Craving a Gulasch with Spätzle we ended up in something which reminded us of an apres-ski experience in the middle of Notting Hill. Mostly big groups, loud music which was accompanied by the 85 years old owner singing, playing the keyboard, clarinet, sax or the cow bells. Everyone seemed to have such a good time. Thankfully it was not our first date (please don’t do that!) so we just enjoyed the show and the surprisingly good food. A fun, anarchic oasis of chaos in a too often clinical city - go before it’s gone.

An eccentric but loveable old owner of the establishment plays traditional Austrian music, Sound of Music classics and weirdly World War One British folk tunes, often on Austrian cow bells, whilst you eat excellent classic Austrian dishes of hearty proprtions. Meat eaters were pleased with their choices. But as a vegetarian this place is harder to enjoy. Incorrect bill (not in our favour) given first. But quickly rectified upon query. Still, this was unpleasant. The service is otherwise quick. Our waitress was nice and answered questions promptly.

This is a recommended experience, but it comes with a warning. Why don't ordinary people go to extra posh hotels? Is it because they feel somewhat assaulted by the superior attitude they fear they will experience from the staff? We loved our time at the Dorchester Hotel Grill, but we had to learn the hard way that you need to be assertive, confident and persistent in order to get what YOU want, and not get charged for what THEY want you to have – 3 coffees and 2 waters - £52! Staff - The meeter-greeter was charismatic and knew our family name as we approached - impressive. She was personable, warm and effective. The first assault comes when a huge ice bucket with lots of champagne bottles in. This is wheeled across with great ceremony, and you were asked if you might like a glass. This is your first test of assertiveness. A polite man will ask the ladies and make £100 disappear very quickly. When I asked for the wine list instead, she looked disappointed - I don't know why, as plenty of the wines are priced at over £100. Then we are given the A la carte menu - and you have to be assertive again. You have to actively ask for the lunchtime menu. Irritating. Food - We went because we saw a YouTube review by Greeno - with three substantial courses. Be warned, the first course has changed and the two alternatives are less than overpowering. My companions had the burrata and salad, which came in a high sided bowl and was somewhat of a challenge to get started on with a knife and fork. Beautiful and complex visually, but a little bit bland in terms of taste. My onion confection was a little bizarre. I kid you not, it was a hollowed out onion filled with pieces of onion and the waitress poured around the side… an onion broth. I was hoping for something more French onion soup like, but this was more a the contemporary artist’s impression of the theme of the essence of an onion. The tiny bready cheesy bits on top were worth the first bite but then fell into the onion broth as they were balanced on top of the onion. It made me sad as I remembered all those lovely onion soups in Paris. The mains were an upgrade from the starter. My companions had a straight out of the sea piece of cod with a crust of nuts and clever things and it was a beautiful dish. I had a wonderful large half breast of chicken with tasty skin on, with various sources and, I kid you not, another onion! But this time it was stuffed with salmon and was really pleasant. And the CHIPS - if you could only have one element from the whole meal it would be these extraordinary creations. Apparently they take 72 hours to make. They are like a fine pomme dauphinoise that is in shaped like a chip and then triple cooked. £10 for 6. Wonderful. I don't normally do desserts, but this is where the hotel excelled. My companion had rhubarb ice cream with rhubarb and bits on top accompanied by a rhubarb “McDonalds Apple Pie” and I'm not being rude here. It looked the same and was mouth burningly hot as well. Great selection. We had a matcha cheesecake with a strawberry gel on top that was just about perfect. With a scoop of pistachio ice cream on the side and crumbled pistachio as well. Really nice. And because it was our birthdays, we had two birthday plates with swirly whirly chocolate sauce writing and little pieces of dessert on them as well. Really impressive. If you are into desserts. This is the lunch for you. Wine - We had a Barbera D’ Asti that was OK, but were charged £75 for the pleasure - the cheapest bottle in their eighty page wine catalogue - the Italian Reds are on page 53. The red wine was disappointing for the price. Kitchen tour - when they're not super busy they offer a tour of the kitchens which is worth a look. We spoke to Freddy, the head chef whose name is on the menu and was a delight - armed with all our knowledge from Anthony Bourdain and Jason Atherton, we talked about taking knives home on the tube, working service in silence, shouty and sweary head chefs (that is the past) and were shown the impressive wine collection with single bottles costing up to £13,000 - maybe my £75 wine wasn't too bad after all. Recommended - go in with your eyes open - it is called the grill - the doorman did not know the Tom Booton bit even though it is written on the wall. You need to pump up your assertiveness, and “just say “NO!” muscles” to avoid escalating bills, and keep the best lunch deal for a posh hotel restaurant in London, intact. I would skip the champagne, ask for tap water, and take your coffees elsewhere - £9 for an average espresso is not on. For dessert lovers this is a winning place

Dopo parecchi anni sono tornato alle. Origini il. Primo locale in cui ho lavorato nel. 2012 appena arrivato a Londra. Locale sempre carino su due piani il. Secondo piano usato per feste e il. Primo come bar e ristorante. Se non sbaglio è anche cambiata la proprietà non ho visto la manager che c'era prima e Devo dire che meglio così. Cibo non male servizio cordiale. Prezzi un po' alti ma a Londra di non caro non esiste niente.
