A totally unique place for a scrummy brunch. Shared tables, delightfully lovely staff, succinct but great menu. Immensely good value.

I live around the corner so it’s a perfect place for a well priced and delicious breakfast or weekend lazy brunch. The food is really tasty and well presented in a very laid back atmosphere. Coffee is good and it’s small so if you go at peak time it’s likely you’ll have to wait.

They took a bit of a while to get my sandwich ready and they didn’t have any crisps to go with it but other than that, fantastic place and a really tasty sandwich!

Lovely little place, super friendly staff, open kitchen that churns out miracle tastes. The music is fresh and local and the prices are really reasonable (£8-10 for a breakfast). Coffee is excellent. Would come back in a heartbeat

Fingers Crossed está a la vuelta de la esquina de mi casa y estoy enamorado. Nunca he tenido una mala comida.

He estado visitando aquí por años.

Good for a cheap and easy brunch, but I do not recommend if you are looking for brunch with a wow factor or you have to travel far to get here.

Went here with pals who live local. Thumbs up for the delicious eggy breakfast. The key lime pie was also a treat. Would eat here again, though was slightly put off by the number of dogs allowed in.

Popped in for a coffee and breakfast mid morning. Nice lively atmosphere and music in a hipster 'shabby chic' setting. Unfortunately, the tables had not been wiped of residue, tidied or the water pitchers refilled from a prior customer. It was busy but NOT that busy! Food good and wholesome at Shoreditch prices although the corn bread sucked every scrap of moisture from your mouth and the coffee was heavy on the sediment. On the plus side, the girl serving was wearing a nice bondage t shirt and they were playing a mixtape of Prince. In general there was warm and homey vibe. Maybe just attention to detail needed..?

Always get an amazing feast in here. Sometimes it's so busy but that's because the quality of food and friendly service is excellent. My favorite "treat" breakfast venue.

I visited Fingers Crossed recently and I really liked it. The atmosphere was welcoming to all and I like the decor. Most importantly the Salt Beef Sandwich I had with Thousand Island Dressing was very good. The type of good where you're thinking about it for days afterwards and all your meals can't live up to that sandwich. Worth visiting Fingers Crossed for that reason alone.

Really bad service. I live around the corner so have gone about 4 times due to convenience. Each time I’ve had bad service (moody staff or really long waits). Giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming it’s been bad luck I went in today, but waited about an hour for my food. The cafe gradually emptied out and I was the only one left in there. Eventually I asked if it would be much longer and they realised the order hadn’t been put through. I didn’t have time to wait any longer so left. Coffee was on the house but staff reaction was pretty nonchalant. Consistently disappointing experience at Fingers Crossed.

In my book this neighbourhood cafe vies for the best in Hackney, which is a pretty big call considering all the great places, and despite it being a bit cramped when busy. The amazing food is what keeps me coming back. Yes the coffee is great (both filter & espresso), yes the service is super friendly and the patrons are too, but their food is really something else. A delicious take on some brunch favourites but always with an unexpected and delicious twist. Generous portions too.

Great little place run by some genuinely nice people. The food was generally very good, though a little over-seasoned. Doesn't have your regular brunch options but dishes that are a bit different, such as baked eggs.

I go to Fingers Crossed at least twice a week as its very close to my office. Food is delicious, every day menu is always a safe bet and their specials are always mouth watering. I would never eat a pasta in an english cafe (i'm italian!) but i often do here and never disappointed. My favourite is poached eggs on sourdough with avocado and feta cheese but they only serve that when in season (May to Sept). Coffee is also very good. Highly recommended!

This place has such an awesome menu. Totally different from other cafe's. I come from Santa Cruz, California, a place where breakfast culture is very strong. I've lived in London for 10 years now and always felt that the breakfast scene was deeply lacking. The "Full English" experience is soooooo boiring. Very same same everywhere you go. Fingers Crossed bucks this trend. They always have a great, creative menu, terrific staff, in a humble kitchen environment. It is my happy place!Don't miss it!

Went to meet a friend for a birthday lunch and she suggested here. Lovely little place at the bottom of a block of flats. Feels a bit like being in someone's living room. Food was great - we had a bacon roll (huge and packed) which came with tangy homemade ketchup, and mushrooms on sourdough. All great and loads more on the menu looked appealing so I'll definitely go back. They do daily specials too just to make the options go to "I really don't know what to have" levels.

There are some days when you just want something greasy. Our visit was one of those days so we were a little taken aback when we found nothing on the menu that jumped out at us. We took a chance however and we're so glad we did. The food was delicious and very different from what you would normally expect from a café - in a good way! There's no children's menu as such but kids can be catered for with something from the main menu. Lots to choose from and very, very tasty.

Our experience was a literal waste of time. We were waiting an hour for food and ended up leaving without eating anything. Staff and kitchen didn't seem to care at all and we left feeling unhappy and disappointed. Cafe wasn't busy (four tables including us) so don't know what was going on. A shame!

Ive lived in east london for 5 years and this is the best of many, many breakfast places Ive tried. It features consistently great combinations and portions, on a changing menu. The food is filling, tasty and feels fresh with some delicious healthy choices too. The chef often brings out the food from the kitchen and is very friendly and seems to really care that each customer goes home happy.I can see why people might not be vibed on the interior- it gets very hot when it's busy in the summer; is small so you get might have to get close to a neighbour and is a little shabby (not in the shabby hipster-chic way). But all these things make me like it more – it feels like a local, honest place. Focused on food and friendliness, the opposite of many style over substance East london eateries.

Ok so I've ate here a bunch of times, maybe 10 or so. I haven't been back for ages so gave it another go.same problems yet so easy to fix, so I write this with hope that the owner / manager / fantastic Australian woman reads it. Food - tasty, good size, reasonable price and creative. Space is pretty and relaxed. And the let down everytime; Service. except for the owner, it's just a bit rubbish. About half the times I've eaten the food arrives before the coffee, I appreciate good coffee takes a bit but it's always incredibly slow. +20 mins even on weekdays. Weekday service is generally poor when it's not the chief. Employees just texting on there phone and not serving, taking ages with coffee etc whilst salt peppers are empty and cutlery is all empty. Just lazy basically, zero sense of pride on the owners behalf. Could be great, just needs staff that take pride as well as the manager as it's letting down the whole place. Sigh.

This cafe is great. Tucked away from the busy high street, its a perfect weekend spot for brunch and close to Hackney downs park, where you can go afterwards to walk it off! The menu changes, but not too frequently to allow you regular visits to enjoy your favourites. The coffee is good but I would love the option of a filter coffee and maybe more fresh juices.

This place would be an easy 5 if it was not for the fact that their service is very sloooow. Every time I've gone the food has been fantastic. Really, super duper awesome. The coffee is also great. The problem is the service time. Everything takes far too long here, from the coffee to the food. Thankfully, I normally go on the weekends where I am happy to take a chilled pace. Within reason though. 35 minutes for breakfast is pushing it, even if that breakfast when it finally does arrive is supremely tasty. If they can sort out their service, I'd come more often. And surely, they could turn more tables and make more money too if the service was better. So come on guys!

I live very close to Fingers Crossed and went when it first opened - it was a disaster! So I have given them another chance, hoping that service, organisation and cleanliness would have improved. It has not. They now have a dog living in the small cafe space as a result the cafe smells of dog. It is chaotic and disorganised with boxes of food at the front door, or on shelves - it is just a mess. I had to leave with just a coffee as I don't enjoy being licked by a dog while having my breakfast. This place is run more like a living room in a flat share rather than a professional cafe. It is such a shame as I like to support local businesses.

I had heard about this new cafe with a new eclectic menu. I had never been as I have to walk past many other of Stoke Newington's excellent cafes. However today was beautiful and I felt like a walk. I'm glad I did. It is a relaxed place with very friendly staff. However there is nothing relaxed about the food. The menu is different to all the other cafes out there and it is well executed. I had the 2 poached eggs with aubergine, spiced tomatoes and yoghurt. On paper it sounds like an odd mix, but it worked really well. I'll be going back to try the rest of the menu :)

The restaurant, located in the Covent Garden area, has a small number of tables as well as a nice bar downstairs. The decor is sparing, but very nicely functional and is perfect for the dining experience. There is only a tasting menu, with some limited options and the approach lends itself to the quality of the meal, which was excellent. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and the timing was excellent. As the menu changes with the seasons it would be delight to return, The tastes in ech dish were vivid and extremely enjoyable. We will return when in London.
