The Best Turkish Kebab in Hackney

The meat is so lean in comparison to every other doner kebab I have ever eaten, it’s lost its taste. Due to the lack of condiment choice and the disgusting chilli sauce, this problem is elevated. Better chilli sauce, sweetcorn relish and mint sauce are essential in any kebab shop. Service is too fast. For a first timer you don’t even have chance to think what you want. Would help if the staff smiled and were a bit friendlier.

You may be thinking about ordering a delivery from them. Don't. Walk there instead, order in person, and enjoy looking at the spectacle of this smooth-running kebab-printing clockwork machine. Have a chat with fellow patrons. Stare at the hypnotising motion of the doner cutting robots. Notice the little details, like how they clean the top of a coke can before handing it to you. The live experience makes the already great kebab even better.

Where to start, ill start at the finish which was one mouthful of the dry rubbery donnar meat that seemed as old as the discoloured rave reviews and photos hanging on the wall, I've read people's reviews saying its the best in the area which dosnt say much for the competition around here, Even the salad was below par with a wrinkled tomato I've given 1 star simply because I could park near it.

Been coming on and off for years. Twice in the last week and the food is good the lamb is very greasy though, I prefer the chicken. The cost though is a lot, you could sit in almost all of the Turkish restaurants in Dalston for £14.50 and get the same thing I order, it’s to much for a road kebab. I ordered Chicken/ chips / salad today for £14.50 but I had to eat it off an electricity pylon on the street.

It really is the best kebab I would have given it a 5 but nothing is perfect service was amazing so kind WOULD RECOMMEND 😀😀😀

The prices may have gone up but the Taste has not :o) Five years on, new management have taken over in this kebab shop and it’s an absolute chaos in there now and the service has fallen down the pan. Food portions are now smaller, it doesn’t taste as it once did as the quality of food has severely dipped. It’s now your average kebab shop like any other. Not the kebab place I once knew and loved back in the mid 90s.

Don’t bother. Ordered on Uber eats and paid £4.79 for delivery. I asked for lots of chilli sauce and garlic sauce on my Donna, which they didn’t do. Instead they gave a pot of chilli and garlic, which were modest potions at best considering I also bought chips. The chips had a very small potion of chilli and garlic on. If they had chilli or garlic on the menu I would have bought it but they don’t. £20.74 I forked out in total and very disappointed, should have known it always overhyped. The meat was tasty enough but nothing special I’m afraid.

They guys are friendly, been coming here for years now. The kebab is consistant never lets me down. Always look forward to it. Have it every week if possible. 😋

Fantastic shoulder lamb donor kebab, tasted completely different from your regular Turkish kebab place on the high street, you can clearly tell the difference, it was absolutely delicious, softer, melts in your mouth, absolutely delicious. The shop is so busy that they have machines cutting & shredding the donor kebab. You won't be disappointed if you love your donor kebabs. Me & my friend had parked around the corner from the shop & as soon as we turned around the corner you could smell the meat being cooked & it smelt absolutely brilliant. It's not called the best Turkish kebab for no reason 👌👍🙏

Exactly what it says on the tin. Best kebab shop in town, or at the very least this part of town (and the competition here is strong). The quality and consistency they churn out on a busy night is genuinely incredible.

I have been going to this place for many years First things first, during busier times you will have to queue before you are able to make your order which shows how popular this place is The food or shall I say Kebabs; they make their own Doner and have always for as long as I can remember, you should see the size of them when they start cooking. They usually close when the Doner is sold out so it's fresh everyday I can recommend anything on the menu as it's all good, you can have it served whatever way you want it You can have your kebabs with the salad served separately, you can have a couple of chips mixed in with your Doner; it's all good. This is the one if not the only place that I will eat a Doner kebab from. My current favourite is a Large Doner wrap with chilli sauce a few chips and salad. The chilli sauce is Not a hot chili sauce that burns your mouth or is overpoweringly peppery it's there to add flavour. The salad is more than just lettuce, tomatoes and onions; and it works well with your kebab whichever way you want it. I think this place sets the standard of how a Kebab shop should be.

The food is delicious and the service is excellent and fast considering they have a lot of orders incoming almost every 5 minutes. And I take my hat off for the memory of the man taking orders, he remembers who, when, what was ordered and after or before you are on the line (even tho there is not an actual line) while handling also what it seemed to be online orders. Place is very clean too. Prices, super cool

These guys know their way around the kitchen - was a pleasure to watch. I also dropped a cube of my lamb shish outside and they came out and gave me a full tray of donner and sauce in consolation.

I have ordered a handful of times during Oct and Nov 2023. Food is always lovely, well cooked, tasty and everything is always very fresh. Chilli sauce is perfect. Also, always seems to arrive in a state where it is very obvious that they take their time to put it all together carefully. It's as if they take a customer's experience seriously, so every time I order, I feel like they appreciate my custom and ensure I am happy. I like that a lot and so I would say I am now becoming a regular customer. No chicken doner and so the mixed kebab is slightly different, but if you want to ensure spot on food these guys seem to have pretty much nailed it.

Kofte wrap used to be quite good. That’s no longer the case. The portion is smaller and the prices gone up quite a bit - I hope this isn’t the start of a deterioration.

Food is good. Ordered a large lamb shish and a small doner and they charged me for a large doner. Will not be returning, will go to their competitor up the road instead.

I used to visit this place over the last 20 years and travelled out of borough Saturday night to be not only dissatisfied with the food but to be over charged by £10. I placed a telephone order requested chicken shish with pitta bread but once in the shop was hollered at by several staff members which made it confusing and a stressful experience. None of us (3 diners) enjoyed the food. Just a basic kebab not like it used to be. We remember the chicken used to be breast and your order was done to your specifications with chilli and sauces and salad done separately but we weren’t listened to then charged £10 over so had to return the following day for my money after members of staff spoke in Turkish on front of me. Felt as if I was in the wrong for asking for my money back. Sadly after over 23 years it’s not the best kebab for me and not worth travelling won’t be returning.

Ordered larger doner recieved small cheap doner only thing was good was salad didn't offer refund all they said was its large what we sent everyone look at the pictures in which angle does that look like large doner salad was large not the doner waiting for a refund from ubereats and while making a complaint to them they kept taking orders wile I'm on the phone extremely bad manners 0% customer service skills

Food was exceptional and very tasty.However, my mum asked for garlic sauce in pot before we left. Twice to remind he confirmed and said all sauce in bag. When we got home it turn out only chilli sauce was given. Food would have been superb if we had garlic sauce.

UPDATED REVIEW 3/10/23 - ordered a large chicken shish in box. lots of lovely chicken. great salad and chilli sauce. added chips were perfect, plentiful and reasonably priced. sent a large pitta, but also a small one too. nice touch. as with my first order, everything carefully packaged. i like this place. they seem to take good food and service seriously and i think it shows. i will be ordering again soon. i can even live with the disappointment of no chicken donner. i think i will go there for the mixed special when next in the area. ORIGINAL REVIEW - negatives first then the good. website and info on uber eats app are amusingly unhelpful though app does have some photos but not totally conclusive. interested in the best special but not certain what it is. i think great to have such confidence in the food, but i feel giving us customers more info might help sales. i also understand items are always priced higher on the apps, but best special is 15 quid on menu and 22 with ubereats, so makes me pause. i had to assume the mixed kebab was like everyone's as no info, so expected lamb and chicken donner. actually it's lamb donner, shish and kofte. i always find lamb shish a bit tough but this was better than most re texture and tasted lovely. the donner and particularly the kofte were outstanding. i plan a kofte soon as was the best i can ever remember having. or maybe a chicken donner as i have been craving. decisions, decisions... all food packed very well with nice salad and pittas and a really generous amount and properly good chilli sauce. seems to me on my first experience that these guys take customer pleasure in their food quite seriously despite it also being a step into the unknown. i would love if they offered more mixed options as i would definitely order from here more often if i could get a lamb and chicken donner mix, or a lamb kofte and chicken or lamb donner mix. as it is i think i will return, but not as likely as if they had more options and as I'm moving soon i may try and find a place in stokey so i can go there. delighted to pay them for such good food. less keen paying uber almost as much just for delivering it. 50% increase on some items is troubling.

The owners have changed and so has the donner. I have been going here since 2000 as I was a kid. There was a time that I would not eat Donnor in unrecognised places (Asian shops who try sell Donnie) and only in certified places like best/super/alibaba etc. Those were the times when even the salad was pleasing and you wouldn’t miss it. Most recently I have realised the people have changed, miss the old guy! Now, the donner is in small pieces, it wasn’t fresh and a smell was coming. It was cold and wasn’t pleasing. Bread was not warm and was a bit rough, chips are not hot and fresh also the chilli sauce is a bit watery and leaks through the paper when you put it on the chips etc. (Today was the first time I never actually finished all the bread) this just shows doomsday has come I will however return once every 6 months just to see if they’ve improved after all I have so many memories in this shop.

For me it's the nostalgic place as I lived so close when I was a student about 25years ago. Back then my English wasn't so good and I didn't understand the order system, but the staff were all friendly and very helpful. I used to go there all the time. One time the black cab I was in got hit by another car in front of the shop. As soon as the staff saw I was inside they came out calling my name and supported me because they knew I didn't speak much English. I am really thankful about that. I didn't understand much about the doner kebab then so I used to order chicken kebab all the time. It's my nostalgic kebab house in London and I have so much memories. When I go back I should visit there again. Sending huge love from far east❣️

If you know you know! This place is no longer how it used to be. A lot of new people may be enjoying the food but it was x10 better before than what it is today. The portions are drastically smaller and you no longer get a small cointainer of chilli sauce as before. I asked for a large meat and chips, i got a small meat and chips like the portions i am familiar with. The chips was bad, the oil was not changed. I used to work around the corner for many years. Since changing jobs i thought i come and visit the place once more. Only the OG's will know what i mean. Typically this place is always packed on a Friday evening. However there was a much quieter footfall into the shop now. I also hate the fact every customer is called a 'buddy'. This is what police officers say to people. The police station is down the road. They have also lost the branded bag, its now a brown bag. A lot has changed. Food and prices are not proportionate with the food.

I think this place is not the best in the UK. I tasted several Doners in the UK and also Turkey which is my hometown, I can hardly say that this is a good Doner.

This is spot for a late night, long day quick and easy kebab. No, it isn’t fine dining but clean restaurants with good food and always polite service. Ticks all the spots.

Good kebab and really quick service.. Prices are quite high for what you get in my opinion.. The kebab wrap was quite good but nothing outstanding in my opinion.. Chips were quite crunchy and fairly light in comparison to many other shops. Service was so fast I almost didn’t realise to be served!

This used to be the best kebab in town. Today will be my last visit! Ordered chicken shish, was ready in 2 mins, was given some nasty dry chicken that was obviously sat in a tub for some time. No flavour to the meat at all. This place has gone down hill fast! Good bye best kebab. Such a shame.

As all OG’s will know this was the go to spot for your weekly doner! But ever since the new owners took over the quality has dropped and it just isn’t anything special anymore - taste has changed! Super kebab down the road is where I tend to go now - they both used to be on a similar level before but super kebab is miles ahead now

Very disappointing and rude approach to customer service. When someone places an order they send it missing and then turn around to blame uber drivers for it. Wouldn't recommend using their service. Their approach and how they handled the call earlier today is just unacceptable. Food wise they are nothing special. Am sure other local ones will do a better job at service and quality.

This is by far the Best Kebab Shop in U.K. I have been a regular for over 40 years and still loving it . Food is the freshest in the universe , salads chopped up in front of you, kebabs cooked in front of you , your food packed in front of you. Customers too are very friendly and parking not an issue after 7PM

Most times, the food is nice and fresh, this time I was given some old meat which was cold and very disappointing. £11 for meat and chips is expensive and should be of a high quality each time. I wasted £22 as I purchased two for my partner and I. Fix up the consistency!

Had the lamb shish wrap, thought it was very average. A bit too much inedible gristle on the lamb pieces. The flavour in general of the meat, salad and sauces were flat. Perhaps the doner is what you should order here...

Delicious, Ordered got my food under 20 seconds, generous amounts of salad, generous portions of meat for a small, could not asked for better! Definitely recommend for a good meal!

Paid £11 for a large meat and chips. The food came in a small container the ones you receive when you order an indian. Asked for garlic and chilli sauce separate only received chilli. No way was it worth £11. If you want similar donner go to superkebab same if not better donner and it is value for your money. Plus food does not come in silver containers.

Don't know what was all hype about! Yes,the meat was soft but could have added a bit more flavour to it,and customer service could improve a lot,I got the feeling of being in a conveyor belt dishing out customers.

For the store size alot has been spent to make it nice and modern, cool decor and caring staff.

I honestly believe it’s the best Turkish in London for take away. The food always tastes fresh and a forever queue which shows just how popular the place is. Paid £40 for 2 specials which fed 5 of us with more than enough to feed the same amount again.

Quality comes at a price but this place really is quality.

First visited back in ‘04/‘05 and have been a regular since. High quality doner meat with good portion sizes. However, I feel that in recent times, the quality has dropped and they aren’t on the level they once were. For all the OGs who’ve been coming here from the beginning and not just visiting because it’s spread through social media, will understand what I’m talking about.

Best doner kebab I've ever had - and I'm hard to please (also sober at the time of eating). I ordered a small doner kebab wrap (£9) and it was both absolutely delicious and huge. They have this big machine on a rail that slices the meat so you get really nice, perfectly even thin slices all the way. Great selection of salad and the garlic and chilli sauces were excellent. Very, very impressed. Lovely staff too, friendly and up for a laugh. Perfect 10/10 🌯🧄🌶️🥇🏆👌🏼
