A nice surprise at this cafe. A good, hearty breakfast with my children followed by a visit to their mini farm at the back. It is a community in itself as they grow their own vegetables, keep chickens as well as serving good food.

This little cafe shares the building with ST Luke's community centre, where there are a lot of activities for 55+ year olds. Regardless of it being for a good cause, the quality of food and drink is high, and I would recommend it any day.

It is not often that popping into a cafe for a take away flat white and a sandwich leaves an impression but the staff here are charming. It felt like I had been there dozens of times and was a regular although it was my first visit. Coffee carefully made and nice sandwich. Venue looked very clean, no uncleared tables. Everyone seemed in such a good mood, staff and customers alike. You know what some places are like, everyone staring at their phones and not making eye contact, well none of that here. Staff actually talk rather than read off a script. Also just read the charming reply to another review by the manager. Thats how to properly address mildly negative comments. Well answered.

Staff forgot half our order. That’s fine. It happens. But they really couldn’t have cared less. They didn’t tell us. Just kept saying it would be out in a minute. Eventually it arrived and the waiter put it down on the table with a smirk. Won’t be coming back. Shame as it presents itself as a community cafe. The food wasn’t very nice when it finally arrived anyway.

My sister and I met for breakfast here and then I spent a few hours working in the cafe on a rainy spring day, and I felt welcome and comfortable. I enjoyed the veggie breakfast (what's not to love about any dish that comes with halloumi?) and cafe au lait for breakfast, and then tea and a pastry later in the day. The wifi was good and there were plenty of outlets for charging. The seats aren't the most comfortable ever, but overall, it was a great place to spend some time. It's also attached to the community centre and has a really welcoming vibe to it. Definitely recommend if you're in the neighborhood and need a coffee, bite, or just a place to hang out for a bit.

Just a quickie, never eaten here tho the food looks good, but this place has a decent roof top terrace for a coffee etc. Just one thing though, the service isn't bad, it's just that the staff are unfriendly and, well, at bit miserable!

No me importa pagar 6 libras. 50 para un almuerzo para llevar, pero espero una porción adulto y no un niño? Ah, yo soy más de 50! Venga chicos, solucionar, por favor, pero sólo un poco más grande contenedores por favor? Gracias.

It may be run by the community, but to a very high standard. We need more places like this.I had a ham sandwich, nice bread, tasty ham, crispy salad, perfect.Go a try it you will be surprised

Just need to mention this Cafe. We are regulars and have got to know the place really well. The food and coffee is excellent. Fantastic choice of salads. My family particularly like the Bircher muesli, but I prefer the Eggs benedict (see pic). Two eggs, proper bacon on soda bread and perfect hollandaise. Lovely people too. So its five stars on the whole experience but the bonus is that its not a global chain, with profits being wisked offshore, but a local community run business with profits going to people who need it. Full stomach and clear conscience. Its all good.

Tucked away from the hubris of Old Street, and far enough away from the over-priced eateries in Clerkenwell to ensure a seat at peak brunch times is this wonderful cafe. Or maybe not if they keep getting excellent reviews :)The food is divine, with delicious raw options for those who follow a raw diet. The breakfast/brunch menu has something for everyone. I keep thinking I'll try to give up eating bacon but my resolve fails everytime I come here, it is THE best bacon I have ever eaten. The salads they serve at lunchtime are some of the tastiest you will eat. If you like home-made cakes, then you need to visit this place. They do take-away options too. The cafe is licensed and sells some great beers and wines, so you can enjoy booze with your food too.The cafe has a lovely ambience, with distressed mis-matched furniture, exposed brick walls and interesting ever-changing art displays. At weekends there is usually a pile of papers/magazines available to leaf through as you enjoy your coffee/food. There is also a delightful, sheltered, leafy roof terrace which gets the late afternoon sun in abundance.Central Street Cafe is attached to the St. Luke's Community Centre next door, and all profits raised by the cafe go directly so supporting vital services for the elderly and young in the local area. The clientele is an interesting mix of hip locals, tourists from the nearby hotel and those that the community centre supports.

I had arrived too early for a meeting at a nearby hotel and looked around in the pouring rain for somewhere to get breakfast and pass an hour until the meeting. I saw a sign saying "have breakfast on our sun-terrace" (not an option considering the weather). The breakfast menu consisted of a dozen or so items ranging from toast to my choice of a cooked breakfast. The wooden tables had stools for four people and there were lower tables and chairs in the centre of the café, I'm guessing the café could seat around 30 people at a time. There was also a lunch menu and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were on offer. Free WiFi was available.I ordered scrambled egg on toast with bacon, mushroom, vine tomato and a mug of "builders tea". All in all the cost was £9.Although the café was not busy there was a ten minute wait for the food. Worth it though... when the food arrived it was piping hot. The scrambled egg was creamy and generously served, the bacon was of good quality, the eight or so tomatoes were small but tasty and the half large mushroom was well cooked. The tea came in a large enamel mug.All in all a first class breakfast, a million miles away from the "greasy spoon" type café that I was expecting to find. The café is attached to a community charity so I had the added satisfaction that the profit from my meal was going to a good cause. Not somewhere I would cross London especially to eat there, but if I were in the area I would certainly seek it out again.

I have visited this cafe several times in the last month for breakfast and lunch and each time had delicious tasty food. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and the cafe is clean and bright. Really tasty coffee - reasonably priced for London. Healthy smoothies and juices as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food on the menu. Added bonus is the free wi-fi and plenty plug points to recharge laptop or mobile. All in all a great find.

There is a huge menu - even English Breakfast has millions of options including a cheaper, smaller brekkie - which I liked as I wasn't quite hungry enough for the works. Bacon, sausage, egg, beans with toast and tea for just over £4. It was very tasty and the tea was great too - and I'm fussy about my tea! The staff were very helpful and friendly. I had stayed over night at the easy jet hotel which was almost slap bang opposite - so it was also extremely convenient. Thank you!

It's a great shame that this attractive little cafe is so overpriced.Food is nice and fresh but what they are charging for it is ridiculous.A small salad with a bit of chicken and avocado £8.50 (the chicken bit is £2.00 extra and the avocado is £1.50 extra) . I know we are in London but wake up in there. This little lunch meal should be costing half of that. The cakes are mad money as well. Before anyone tells me that the profits go to St Lukes charity well i did not notice any solid gold furnishings in the hall. You would have them queing out the front door if the goods were reasonably priced. WAKE UP WHOEVER IS SETTING THE PRICES!

Found this place by accident this afternoon, great little menu, I went for the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, with a mug of builders tea £7.45.At first the eggs looked a bit the like the type you get in a MacDonald's breakfast, but that's where the similarity ended, they were well cooked light and fluffy with a dose of chives atop two nicely toasted slices of seedy bread, with a good few slices of smoked salmon. The menus not massive but has something for everyone Inc veggies and vegans. The menu proudly states "the more you spend the more you help" with all profits going to support St Luke's Community Centre, which I noticed is next door.If you're in the area pop by and give this place a try.
