The best restaurants serving Other european-cuisines food in Hertsmere East of England

Writing a review having had a Google review disappear. Visited Sunday morning to find closed doors and staff inside ignoring those outside. I’m not sure in whose world this is normal. If there are staffing issues and unable to open it would be common courtesy to explain this to waiting customers and not to stand behind the counter ignoring them and wave your hand dismissively when they attempt to talk to you. Another shop worker came along and banged on the door and someone from inside in complete silence opened the door and closed it again. No explanation, no discussion just a shake of the head and door closed. So I also banged on the door to draw her attention. Pumpernicks management have claimed that other customers were sympathetic. In fact two other customers who had been waiting outside told me that they would not be returning and would be going to Radlett for their bread in future. So will I.

Came here for a family birthday. Restaurant was quiet but still had a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and great customer service, with one gentleman (possibly the owner) giving a great welcome and description of the dishes, with some great humour too. Food was delicious, possibly the best fish cakes I’ve had. Hope to be back

Our food was soft, even mushy with very little texture and taste. I had the stuffed obergene. . The filling tasted like it had just been frozen and heated up in a microwave. No flavour at all. The obergene itself was very soft and could have been mushed up with a fork easily. So disappointed. The service was efficient and pleasant, but then again, it was lunchtime, and we were practically the only ones there. Three out of the five of us, who got together for a family reunion, felt the quality of the food felt far short of reasonable expectations. Definitely will not be going here again.

The only reason it was lacking the last star is due to service, all food and drinks where lovely however it took a very long time to arrive and by the time the chips arrived they where cold and not very enjoyable. However the drinks where amazing, shoutout the the barista! Overall i would return

Food and service great but you pay for the bread and hummus that they put on the table. The waiter said to us the bread and hummus were “complimentary” but we had to pay £6 for it when bill came. He needs to be honest and just tell people it is not free. He is a bit sad.

We had an absolutely delicious takeaway from Isot last night. Ready to collect in just 20 minutes from ordering online. The portions were plentiful, Good value as all the mains have rice/chips, salad and bread all included in the price. An unexpected surprise on pick up, they gave us a 10% discount plus a complimentary rice pudding dessert which was delicious. A nice local eatery for us, and we will definitely be returning. Really poor experience. Forgot our food. Then asked the lady food the arrived no apology and given burnt pancakes that I couldn’t eat was then made to pay even though I had said they were bad. Manager didn’t want to speak. Would never go back.

Don't go if you are planning to go to the theatre as they have a limited menu which is basically 5 meals, fish and chips, burger and chips, plant based burger and chips, sausage and mash, plant based sausages. Disappointing we arrived 5.30pm for 6pm booking. I ordered the burger which I wouldn't normally eat they were out of gluten free buns. The people on the next table had a similar issue with something being unavailable. I won't be going back such a same it used to be really good.

After being our go-to restaurant for family get-togethers for about 25 yrs, we are sorry that Alphonso is retiring and moving back to Puglia. We will miss you. On Sunday lunchtime the restaurant was packed with friends and family to say goodbye to a well-loved institution. We hope that the new owners will continue your tradition for high quality and good value when they open in November.

No working toilets, bad rude service, terrible over priced food. Had my worst restaurant experience here.
