We always go to Pumpernick for our bread and cake and treats. We also regularly have a family lunch on a Sunday. It’s always really fun and atmosphere is great. Staff know us now and serve with a smile. Oh yes - the food is what you would sexpect. Delicious….. Nick the owner is a great guy and has a very long career in front of house and catering. He is always there, making sure everything is smooth…

Come for Sunday brunch and you could be in an upper Eastside New York deli, the only thing that gives it away are the London accents! Egg n onion, the best chopped herring for miles, equally good fish goujons, tuna salads, humungous portions and a sprinkling of Israeli classics make this small independent cafe, with its very own bagel and challah bakery out the back, rather special. Even more so in these days of dull homogenised chains. Everything served with a smile. Well done Nick (owner) & his team. Weekdays I challenge you to find a better soup( my favourite is the pea soup), with a warm challah roll probably no more than a few minutes old! Can’t recommend this little gem enough !!

The best restaraunt experience I have had since 2016. The place is buzzing! I came for the first time last year, and I slowly realised why it was so popular. I have not stopped returning at least once a week. Non stop people in and out the door, fun music in the background, extremely friendly staff and owner. Whenever you walk into the restaurant, no matter how busy they are you feel like you are really cared about! Such a warming experience, and to top it off… the food is 10/10! I had the smoke salmon bagel which I can easily was the best bagel I’ve had since I can remember. My friend had the pizza which was delicious and another friend had the shakshuka. My only regret was that I became full, because I could have eaten that shakshuka every day for a month… it was incredible, top 3 I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many shakshukas in many different countries). The prices are very fair and you never have to worry about leaving hungry. I am a returning customer and will be for the next 30 years - I highly highly recommend pumpernicks.

Visiting Pumpernick’s is always such a treat. We feel spoilt by the warm friendly service but it’s the food that simply outdoes itself time after time… Challa or bulka sweet and warm and always freshly baked from the oven, perfectly cooked eggs in generous quantities, yummy smoked salmon piled high on a fresh bagel always with a tasty side salad to balance things out! (better not mention the gorgeous little pastries to polish off the meal with a tall latte) independent restaurants like this with a personal service, baked goods made on site and a good kitchen is something we are desperately short of in London and should be applauded and supported Although Pumpernicks is not our local we always feel it’s worth the journey… feels like coming home!

One of the best bagels to be had in the London area; beats Brick lane. Too often in the UK, you get baked-only bagels, but these taste like the real deal. Not quite up to Absolute Bagels in Morningside Heights, NYC, but that is too much of a schlep for me.

First the good. The service, the cleanliness, the friendly staff, the clean toilets. Now the bad. The food. Tiny portions on plates far too big. Stale beigels. Measly fillings. Stale beigel. One half of a thin spear of pickled cucumber, half a slice of fresh cucumber and a slice of tomato do not a salad make! Poor choice of pastries. No apple pie or apple filled anything. Overpriced fir what it is. Poor value for money. I wouldn’t visit again. There are better beigel cafés/milky restaurants in north-west London.

We ordered a couple of platters of mini quiches, a couple of platters of goujons and a birthday cake to celebrate my Dad's 95th birthday. The whole process was easy - I received a quote from Nick as requested. He didn't hassle me following the quote and placing the order was easily done by email. The food was ready when we went to collect and was all presented beautifully. The guests all commented on how lovely it was (one would imagine a bunch of 80-90 year olds would be quite discerning!) and the birthday cake was gorgeous. Thanks to all at Orli for helping make my Dad's little party a smashing evening!

I’ve been a loyal customer even when lots of new restaurants opened nearby. I was treated v badly today and ignored for half an hour. We had to help ourselves to a drink from the fridge as two year old was crying for apple juice. The pizza arrived and we had no cutlery or serviettes. No fish but offered fish fingers. By all means visit this place if you are favoured by the serving staff.....if you dont and arrive AHEAD of their friends they will ignore you and serve their favoured friends. Then tell you to move as the people behind prefer where you are sitting to the table reserved! They made it very clear they have more important customers than us. When you behave like that it’s the beginning of the END! We took the rest of our pizza and unopened sushi home! It cost us £24 for this experience. NEVER AGAIN! I’m sure there will be plenty of empty table if this continues. Get the basics right before refurbishing tables and chairs!

We just popped in for a late afternoon coffee and cakes but felt quite awkward and uncomfortable so didn't have much or stay long, The place was empty but when we ordered coffee the girl said that we'd have to sit at one of the three tables to the left of the door. We had no idea why this was as there were 5 or 6 tables on the others side and all were empty. It wasn't near their closing times so it was all odd. We were going to order some light snacks but we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience so in the end just had some pastries which were very nice. It was a shame as I can see this place would be great with the right welcome. Maybe we just caught it at an odd time.

The bakery is great - just remember that kosher bread is more expensive than supermarket bread BUT it is properly proven and baked rather than the quick stuff so it is better for you and tastes GOOD! If you like pumpernickel / black bread or all things rye then this is the place for you - just be prepared for this all costing a little bit more than your £1.20 sliced loaf. Also, try the chocolate rugelach (mini gooey chocolate croissants that are truly amazing with a hot cuppa (coffee / tea or hot chocolate). They do bagels and filled bagels as well. On to the menu and sit down - good portions and (usually) your waitress is smiling! The owner and his wife (Nick and Stephanie) have made this very much a family run experience and it is a good nosh. Afternoong tea is also a must if you have the time. You won't go hungry!

Given the cafe is Kosher I expected high prices. Our usual cafe was unexpectedly closed so we chose Orli. I chose a salad and my father chose borekas which neither of us knew!To my complete surprise a huge salad arrived with lots of nicely fried halloumi and half an avocado. My father's borekas were 4 filled sausage roll shapes, although definitely no sausage! He said his was a little lacking in taste but mine was very nice, with roasted aubergine and sun dried tomatoes. And truly good value for money, the last thing I expected.

Don't know this town but arrived hungry and thirsty. 1st well known brand coffee shop I tried, the toilets were out of action. 2nd one the card machine not working (I wanted something to eat and a coffee, so around £10.00+ worth of business). 3rd one was closing!!! Fortunately happened upon Orli Bakery. Delicious, fresh, spotlessly clean, customer focussed. Everything the other three failed at. So, 'Star-nero-osta' in Borehamwood sharpen your collective act, but I suspect you have a long way to go to catch the local coffee and bagel hot-spot. Visited this restaurant/bakery on 7th November 2017, having made a reservation for three as it is very busy and full on a daily basis. We all chose fish and chips, which arrived with four (for me) and five for the others, pieces of haddock. We had expected one large fillet. The food was cooked well but one of us requested roasted vegetables rather than chips and received a few pieces of slightly charred peppers, courgettes, and tomatoes. The cost was about £11 each. The restaurant area was very busy indeed but we had a table by the door and there were constant customers for the breads and other bakery items on sale so there was a bit of a draught.

Have been buying Bagels smoked salmon and bread from when they first opened and although their are other Kosher bakers in the area their products taste the best. Sunday morning hot fresh bagels and smoked salmon fantastic for lunch or brunch. This is a small place and if you want a table for more than 4 people you should book.I wanted to have the sunday tea which was on their website but was told that they needed 24 hours advance notice as the scones were made fresh to order, I was very disappointed as I did not recall reading that. I went for a salmon bagel, which turned up on a plate with a little salad, but it did look sad. Another person on our table ordered a salmon and avocado salad which looked great and value for money. The staff were friendly and even though it was hard to get their attention as they were run off their feet, they did try to deliver the drinks quickly as it was extremely hot.

In my opinion Orli is a rare breed of neighbourhood restaurant that, frankly, can do no wrong. I've visited three times over the past few weeks - with family and then with friends - and every time it has been genuinely sensational. Food wise, the chef is clearly a bit of a genius. Fantastic menu ranging from beautifully made staple Jewish comfort food to modern & exciting options, all the way to sushi that I'm sure would rival Japan's finest! The portions are incredibly generous let me add. I also tried the bakery which was sensational. Challahs which melt in your mouth, bagels perfectly soft yet crisp. The Atmosphere: I love the atmosphere here. It's buzzy, busy, welcoming, and feels like the place to be. It's the rare sort of place where the owner greets with you a smile everyday - and probably makes an effort to learn your name too. You just don't get places like this anymore, so we must cherish them when they come along! The service was attentive but not intrusive. It does get busy but I'd much rather eat somewhere with a great atmosphere then be the only people in an otherwise empty restaurant! Pricing seemed extremely reasonable for the quality (and, frankly, quantity!) of the food. This is a place I will be revisiting time and time again - and I'd come even more if I was a Boreham Wood local!

Tasty bagels, challah and very good coffee. Helpful and friendly service. Only not 5 star because of some confusion with our order and lack of salt beef.

The baked goods here are divine. The challah is the best in NW London. The bagels are delicious. The goujons and chopped herring are also fabulous!! They just need to sort out their salads.

You can't go wrong with a mouthwatering bagel from Orlis'. If the bagel you are looking for isn't available, the friendly staff will make you what you want there and then. Excellent bakery!

The friendly staff at Orli's really made my friend and I feel as though we, as customers, were important on an individual level and one of the great things is the occasional offers that are sometimes on that make it really worth wandering down Shenley Road, for an olive-y Pasta dinner

I love this place. It's now close to where I work, so sometimes visit at lunchtime. I really appreciate their friendly service. They really care and there is always a buzz and a big smile for customers. There is also trust, which is rare these days. I didn't realise there was s card minimum spend. No problem. Pay next time! I've been on holiday, so that day was today. Try it. Lovely fresh bread and bagels etc.

This little bakery is very busy every time I visit. Their baked treats are phenomenally different. The bread & bagels are freshly baked, if you get there early they're still warm. Coffee and cake is what I go there for and always have to buy their fabulous bread.

I love this place!! I'm there every week for my challah, it's also my favourite place to meet up with a friend for coffee or lunch. The atmosphere has a very friendly vibe. They do get busy at lunch time because it is a popular place to go for great food & friendly staff, maybe try a less busy time if you have a time scale. If I'm ever meeting a friend in Borehamwood, this is my place to go!!

I asked Orli to cater a function for me providing platters of filled mini bagels and bridge rolla as well as pastries. Everything was so fresh and tasty and everyone commented on how delicious it was. They were a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend them.

There's a very simple reason why Orli is always so busy: the food is fresh, imaginative & delicious and the staff are unfailingly attentive. It's become my "go-to" cafe for lunch with family or friends. And you have to keep going back- there's such a huge choice, that you'll want to try everything! Recommended

I went here for a solo lunch. I had a very good tuna bagel and a nice vegetarian soup. The waitress was very nice and helpful. The latte in the end was very well made too. Only down side was when I went to pay. The perk sign outside showed one thing and they said and explained other thing. Little confusion, but has been sorted. I will be back surly.

I love Orli's in the Wood! The staff are extra friendly and go out of their way to make sure their customers are happy. There's always a buzz in the place and the food is delicious! I live 90 miles away but make sure I pick up plenty of Challahs each visit to stock up my freezer in Hove. You won't be disappointed.

Hubby and I stumbled upon this little bakery in Borehamwood whilst looking for somewhere to eat. We saw it was packed and all the other places around were empty so we decided to try it. We found a little table by the window and believe me the queues did not stop all the time we were there. We ordered our breakfast which were omelettes and these were very good. You can also buy your bagels and breads here and any deli you fancy. One stop Shop. Service was good and with a smile. Will go back.

The only reason it was lacking the last star is due to service, all food and drinks where lovely however it took a very long time to arrive and by the time the chips arrived they where cold and not very enjoyable. However the drinks where amazing, shoutout the the barista! Overall i would return

A very big “Thank you!” to Ahmet, Umet and all the staff at Aksular; who helped create a wonderful and memorable evening for my wife and our 44 guests. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Everyone enjoyed their food and had a wonderful evening. I am very grateful to Ahmet. He has a friendly, understanding nature and made organising the party simple and straightforward for me. The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated and the menu is excellent value for money. The bread and salad starters are so very tasty. The Aksular Chef’s Special Platter to share was loved by all the carnivores and the vegetarians relished the Vegetarian Moussaka. I highly recommend the restaurant. Thanks again Team Aksular. 🏆🏆🏆
