Stunning cozy well dressed hotel! Very tailored and sophisticated in it's presentation. I loved it! The breakfast was very good. Eggs Benedict my fave! It indeed truly felt like Scotland. There happened to be an event there in the hotel it might have been a wedding but I wasn't really sure but there were lots and lots of young teenagers pre-teens dressed up formally and it was delightful to see young girls dressed up in their dresses and the young boys wearing kilts they look so distinguished and so proud of themselves you could tell that they loved their Scottish heritage I felt honoured to be able to see that.

Cracker wee spot just out of the way enough to not bustle like the other tourist traps! Great beer selection! Could do with some snacks but that from a boozy muncher lol! Staff super engaging and knowledgeable!

Excellent breakfast, had bacon waffles, flat white and berry smoothie. All excellent, great service too.

We happened to take a seat here and have a lovely lunch while we waited for the rain to pass and what a lovely experience for our family. I'm still thinking of the delicious pasta I had and the friendly and helpful service. We will definitely return.

Got to say, ignore Vikrants review, we were staying at the Kimpton and decided to head over to the painted rooster on a whim for breakfast. The staff were bloody brilliant, turned up..no bs from the lady that told us a table for two would be available in 5-10 mins. Ok so a table of 4 turned up and because they had one of those free they went ahead of us in the queue...but I understand that in these times you allocate tables based on numbers rather than people just wanting breakfast. Once seated, staff were really attentive the Haggis Benedict was absolutely bloody amazing! As was the Scottish breakfast...great Lorne sausage! Also loved that the staff remembered another table that had visited previously based on the coffee order! This place is brilliant and we'll be definitely back once we return to Edinburgh!

Had a couple of IPAs here, fancy juice and a hazy one. Particularly enjoyed the fancy juice. My wife had couple of cocktails and enjoyed them both. One was a Negroni the other we can't recall the name. We both enjoyed the range of rock orientated background music.

Good atmosphere and reasonable prices but we had a very poor experience. Ordered two coffees which then took around 10-15 minutes to arrive (they weren’t that busy) then within a couple of minutes of getting them another member of staff came round to tell us that they were closing in 10 minutes. They then proceeded to clear up around us making it very clear they wanted rid. Not impressed. If you do decide to visit, suggest you check how long they will give you to drink/eat. If we hadn’t have paid up front would have walked out.

Wonderful food and atmosphere. The staff were great, and the cocktails are phenomenal. Would recommend for sure!

Subí a un avión y el hombre americano sentado a mi lado quería recomendaciones para la ciudad. Se lo dije, tiene que ser la barra de leche Marys - habrá una cola, pero vale la pena para el mejor helado que jamás probarás. Bueno, después de su viaje me envió por correo electrónico una foto de su helado y la cola de fondo. ¡Ay, reconocí a alguien en la cola! Fui yo! en la fila listo para comprar mi propio helado! ¡Cuáles son las probabilidades! He enviado tanta gente aquí, ya que es simplemente el mejor helado que he probado. Gracias Mary y Team por ofrecer siempre una gran experiencia. ¡Emocionado de probar la lavanda de chocolate cuando vuelve a la temporada!

Cafe located on the Royal Mile. Even if it is focused on tourism, in terms of service it is very good since he was attentive and quick to serve you. Regarding the environment, it is adequate. Chamomile and American coffee were ok but the hot chocolate served was very runny and tasted more like a milkshake than a chocolate.

Llamamos aquí de regreso a la Royal Mile desde Holyrood en un sábado muy húmedo a la hora del almuerzo. Era claramente un café que atrajo a nuestros visitantes estadounidenses y pudimos ver por qué ya que era muy pintoresco. Acabamos de tomar sopa y pan porque estábamos tomando un té temprano, pero me complace decir que se sirvió en tubería caliente y en platos encantadores. Estaría feliz de comer aquí de nuevo.
