Turkish Breakfast was delicious and menemen was great. It was a very rich meal and worth the money. Washroom and handwashing area was clean and staff was extremely friendly. Just need some stronger exhaust in kitchen area.

Was looking forward to brunch at this place during my visit but unfortunately it was disappointing. The “turkish” breakfast featured 3 tiny round slices of the sujuk sausage, simple veg cut up, no other sauces, while the scrambled eggs came separately and weren’t particularly tasty. Having tried many Turkish breakfasts before and provided this was the most expensive option on the menu, it was just a really disappointing experience.

Friendly staff and delicious food in generous quantities. Good music. Loved it!

Loved this place! Great menu with lots of choice for different diets. Had avocado on toast with halloumi, the bread was fresh and delicious and there was actual flavour added to the avocado with some chilli oil. Good portion size and well priced.

Poorly cooked, low quality ingredients combined with slow service. Not good enough for the price.

Upon entering, was handed a menu and greeted with eagerness and friendliness. I ordered and grabbed a seat. There were families, couples, and friends filling the place, all chatting, vibrant, and happy. Lots of empty plates. I ordered the smoked salmon avocado toast and a mocha with an extra shot. Both exceeded my expectations. The toast was beautifully prepared, the flavors were all well balanced and represented, and the star, the salmon and poached eggs were generous and perfectly executed. The mocha was also presented beautifully. It was the perfect balance of chocolate, coffee, and milk, not too sweet and not too bland. Zero complaints. Super happy. and if I lived here I would be a regular… but Edinburgh has too dang many incredible coffee shops, and I plan to visit as many as humanly possible.

The food is delicious, especially the desserts. I would give the savory ones a 7.5/10, as they were tasty, with satisfactory portions and varieties. The stars are lost on the fact that all the napkins had yellow stains on them. Obviously someone got hold of them with dirty hands when wrapping the cutlery with them. Also at some point a lady came in with a dog and one of the staff members started petting it and shaking it next to the fridge with the water glasses. I have the same dog and I don't hate them, but I don't think this is the best thing. Finally, the waitress looked completely lost when she took the orders to the tables.

Had a really nice breakfast. Fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. A few tasty vegan options and cake. Very good oat flat white.

Great oat cappuccino 👏 Very nice vegan avocado toast, loaded with wilted spinach, tangy onions, roast tomatoes, and pomegranate syrup. Exactly what I felt like. Portions are generous. Hash browns are a side but worth adding.

We had a fantastic visit at Rocksalt Cafe, the staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and they were generous portions, I recommend the Turkish Breakfast and the brownie. This is a must visit when you’re in Edinburgh and it’s in a great location!

Best cafe I’ve been to in years. I don’t usually have a salad, but the green salad with salmon and poached eggs was outstanding.

Good breakfast experience. Coffee was just how I like it. Avocado toasts are delish. Egg, sunny side up, was perfect. I only wish for larger tables for more comfortable seating. A choice full breakfast.

Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. In particular the scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon, and also the Menemen Avocado Toast. Coffee was nice too as was the service. Will be returning.

Great food & nice ambience for brunch on a Sunday morning. My husband had pancakes with bacon & maple syrup, and I had avocado toast with poached eggs and halloumi. Smoothies also great. We also took away some borek and baklava to have in Holyrood Park- all were excellent.

Had a fantastic breakfast - just what was needed after a night on the whisky. Breakfast was vegan, bursting with flavour, and had the required level of greese to cure any hangover. Coffee had a cute late art element.

Friendly place with a good size portions. I personally found some of the eggs and meat a bit overcooked and crispy, but overall the food was still very tasty.

My go to place when I want to have brunch and don’t know which new place to try. Really nice waiters. Good coffee they bring from modern standard coffee. The rocksalt pancakes are amazing. They used to be a bit bigger but are still really good. Tried yesterday the chipotle panini and it was very tasty as well.

08-02-24 We ordered a coronation chicken and S&B wrap with an Irn Bru. Fast turnaround and deliciously tasting! Accommodating with swapping the crisps and coleslaw for a larger salad 👌🏼 Not quite 5⭐️ - We did ask for salad with no tomatoes, which needed rectifying. - The S&B came as a panini instead of a wrap. Definitely recommend 🙌🏼

Menu looks great, had potential to be great but they had a incident in the kitchen and the place filled with smoke. No one spoke to the customers regarding this merely openned the front door. Food came out, eggs very overcooked and hard, beans served cold, items missing that took 10minutes to arrive. Not good.

Excellent breakfast with few tourists and a copious menu focused on Mediterranean flavors. We tried their avocado toast with smoked salmon (the spicy oil subtly spiced everything up), the Scottish breakfast (the haggis was approved by the gentleman!) and the hummus, particularly good! We would have liked the café to offer hot tea-based drinks (apart from a simple cup of tea of ​​course) like a chai latte for example) to complement those made from coffee.

Today we tried Rocksalt after hearing some very positive things online, wanted to try it ourselves and left feeling pretty disappointed. Our experience actually began at the entrance where two gentlemen were stood, actually members of staff, one littered in front of us and the other blew snot from his nose on to the floor, it wasn't until we were seated and seen these fellas start working we felt slightly grossed out. We were greeted as we entered and got seated promptly, the next part of our bad experience was when taking a trip to the toilet, the communal sink area soap dispensers were empty and the bottle of carex they'd provided was near empty and had been filled up with water to use up the dregs, another cleanliness red flag. Next we ordered our food and paid at the counter a rather steep £29 odd for a "Full Brekky" two cans of diet coke and the French toast with bacon and maple syrup. The order took near 30 minutes to arrive at the table which felt excessive considering how quiet the place was when we ordered and the French toast appeared to be missing the maple syrup listed on the menu, we asked at the till and we're told it should be on the table already provided with the condiments, ended up borrowing some from another table. The food itself tasted nice however it's just a shame about the really slow service and the way the staff represented the company blowing their snotty beak, poor show.

Great food, friendly staff. Location is also good. The menu has a great selection of tempting dishes. We ate hamburgers and it was very satisfying. They have highchairs for babies.

After ordering The Big Brekky and waiting 30 minutes to find a missing item. Food was good otherwise.

Absolutely delicious scrambled eggs and service. Portion sizes were huge. Came back for the chicken, garlic mayo and avo panini and it was even more delicious. Couldn’t recommend eating here more. They have food for every mood. DELISH!!

Currently sat here reminiscing the beautiful panini I have just devoured. The most incredible chicken panini I have ever ever had. I added goats cheese to mine as an extra and it just elevated it so much. The Turkish breakfast is also delicious and super fresh! Coffee is good too! And price is perfect

Freshly prepared and cooked to order. Great selection of hand-made pastries and cakes to follow my scrumptious pannini with homemade coleslaw, fresh salad, and crisps on the side. Friendly professional staff and very reasonable prices. Go on in, you won't be disappointed.

Enjoyed my avocado toast although i found it a bit too citrusy - i would’ve preferred less to have a better taste of avocado and egg. But definitely filling with its generous serving.

So nice we went twice during our weekend visit! Decent prices for everything, highly recommend their Turkish breakfast! Staff always accomodating, made extra room for our suitcases when we were grabbing breakfast before our train home ☺️

I stopped in while on Holiday. I had the scrambled eggs and toast and a hot mocha. Turned out to be a much bigger breakfast than I anticipated. I ended up ordering a take away for my wife, who likes to sleep in.

The food and coffee here was so good!! I highly recommend going here if you’re close by Waverley looking for some food. The only things I have to say is I don’t like that they charge extra for alternative milk in coffee. Also when we ordered our drinks and paid for them we were then told that they didn’t actually have the two drinks we ordered and paid for, which was slightly disappointing.

Pedimos unas tostadas francesas, son diferentes porque no son dulces sino saladas, el tocino demasiado bueno El otro plato fue la tostada de pan con salmón ahumado, huevo pochado y aguacate, muy pero muy bueno. El café no fue cosa del otro mundo, normalito, demasiada leche para ser un Macchiato

Got the mango raspberry smoothie and it's fantastic! You taste the actual fruit and not sugary syrup. Think I'll be back to try their lunches/suppers. Note: it's much cheaper to get takeaway than to sit in. The menu pictures included in my review are for sitting in.

I don't recommend it, Scrambled eggs were very dry, smelled a bit, bread was not the freshest and very small butter for such a dry meal. On top, they serve to plastic cups even you choose to eat inside.

The food is absolutely delicious. We kept coming back for brunch every other day. The waiters are ever so kind.

Really horrible experience ! I will not consider going here again! We ordered full breakfast but the avocado tasted sour. It was not delicious as expected. And the black pudding was hard as rock! They have hidden charge for my coffee, which was not shown on the board. When they saw my coffee cup almost empty, they just took it away without asking so that they could rush us out for other customers. It was really rude. Won’t recommend it at all!

My girlfriend and I were regular customers here however after my last experience will not be back. I ordered a fry up without beans. It was clear to see that beans that been on my plate but had been scraped off. The bean juice had saturated every item on my plate. I showed this to the female cashier who at first was only offering to change my plate, she made my request seem very unreasonable. My girlfriend had completely finished her meal and a second beanless fry up had still not arrived. I politely told the male cashier this who gave me my money back for the fry up. He made excuses and made it seem like my fault for not liking beans. He told me that all the items are made together and it’s simply impossible to not have the all the items on the plate covered in it. I know this false because I order the same item off the menu every time we come here. I’d suggest more training but you can’t teach common sense.

We found this excellent cafe just off the Royal Mile in Old Town and enjoyed the smoked salmon avocado toast with perfectly poached eggs and outstanding baked goods. Well worth a visit for either a sit down meal or a takeaway coffee and bakery items.

Food is really good. They take their time though so to enjoy it you need not to be in a rush.

Staff were super lovely and friendly, good value for money, super tasty and good portions. Went for a quick lunch and was stuffed for under a tenner. Also the coleslaw with the dill was delish!! The waiter said it was made in house too. Would recommend.

The food was really good, but we got charged more than it was on the menu was £9.95 on the menu and we got charged for 2 of the same item £22... we didn't complaint but you should update your menus...

Wonderful breakfast. Eggs florentine was best I have ever had. Staff was incredible. Even took the time to paint a bear on my latte. Wish I’d found them before met last meal in Scotland. I would have every meal here.

This is the first cafe I've left more stressed than I arrived. The waitress that approached our table was quite short with us, and wasn't particularly friendly. When we ordered our coffees, she looked visibly confused and was either annoyed or genuinely distressed that we hadn't ordered any food. She braced herself on the table and looked like she was going to legitimately cry. It was very confusing. Later on, food was left on tables next to us outside for 15 or so minutes, meaning that seagulls were flying past and around us and other customers constantly, feeding off leftover food on plates that had not yet been taken away. While it is somewhat amusing to watch people scream when a seagull has grazed someone's head, it isn't so fun when it happens to you. I hope that this was just an 'off day' for the cafe, and that their service is normally quite friendly and punctual. However, I won't be returning to find out - and cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone. Coffee did taste good though... 🤷‍♂️

We stopped at Rocksalt cafe for breakfast on our way to the train station from our hotel, and I'm glad we did as the food was amazing! I had the smoked salmon avocado toast, and my friend had the Turkish breakfast. The portion sizes for both were extremely generous, and the food was very well cooked and seasoned. A nice touch was a bear in the foam of my flat white! I bought two borek to take home as they were just delicious. Definitely plan to return when next in Edinburgh.

The service was lovely, food and drinks were even better. The place itself is cute with calming music and a great atmosphere.

Just as an FYI: the prices shown on the menu are outdate. Expect to pay between 20-25% more. Food is pretty decent but nothing special, and at the new price point a bit overpriced. Staff were nice.

We had a great lunch here away from some of the crowds on the royal mile. Lots of options for kids and adults alike and everything seemed fresh and homemade.

Haloumi cheese salad- watched as the the waiter took lettuce leaves out of a bag and put them into the bowl....without gloves or utensils. No dressing. £10 salad - leaves, walnuts and a couple of pieces of haloumi. V disappointing

Quick and friendly service! The portions are huge! Very delicious! I got the Meneman Avocado toast which was a Turkish scramble. My husband got the halloumi avocado toast and it was soooo goood! Great breakfast spot! We also shared a carrot cake!
