Lovely stop for a mid afternoon coffee and cake!

Ate in here about 3 times during my 10 day Scotland stay. The food is super fresh and super yummy. I do not eat cole slaw but i ate theirs! Great sandwich selection with vegetarian options and great homemade desserts! Definitely try their famous millionaire slice and grab and Irn Bru (non-alcoholic soda of Scotland) to wash it down. Bathrooms on site. Great staff. Will definitely be back here whenever I visit again.

100% my favourite brunch spot!! I’ve been quite a few times now and it definitely gets better every visit, from the staff to the food. I love that they are not stingy with the portions. 10/10 recommend especially the chipotle panini and Avacado toast!!

Best coffee to start the day 10/10 always

I’ve been dining at Rocksalt for years now. The staff are always so accommodating and I find the venue is the best fresh food in town. Highly recommend their Avocado & Egg for brunch & their Chicken Cesar Wrap is also scrumptious.

The nicest restaurant in Edinburgh and even better they have three locations now! Amazing variety on the menu, and the staff are always lovely and accommodating. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! If you’re in Edinburgh it’s definitely worth going.

Shocking service by the owner Reyhan Gul. Any complaint falls on deaf ears. Hygiene leaves a lot to be desired as well. The owners are not fit for purpose in anyway. I would avoid this place like the plague.

Got to agree with previous review the owners are absolute charlatans. Believe the have numerous business’s and properties in Edinburgh they rent out. The service they provide on these other services would make me want to avoid this place. Got to wonder if they even pay their tax’s etc. on all these businesses. Agree with previous I would avoid this place and all businesses by the Guls, I think one of them has previous for touching up an employee as well.

I had the worst food intoxication here, I ordered a fish and chips for lunch and was very sick for the rest of the day... Clearly the products were not fresh. The staff was nice but I would not risk to come back again

Great selection of breakfast and all kinds of dishes (pancakes, toasts,wraps,burgers, loaded fries). I had Scrambled Eggs and Toast with extra sausages, and the portions were huge! 4 large sourdough bread slices, loads of scrambled eggs (it’s like they used 3-4 eggs in there) and the sausages were so juicy too. Totally recommend! Would visit and try their other stuff👍🏼😃

Rocksalt Cafe offers very nice options for breakfast. The staff was really friendly and attentive. The service was very fast. I recommend the Turkish breakfast and pancake. The portions are very big and very tasty. Especially the menemen was great. A place you should definitely choose for breakfast when you are in Edinburgh.

Cafe close to the Scottish Storytelling Centre. Generous vegan platter and oatmilk coffee were delicious! Would visit again. 😀

stumbled into this place after back to back Fringe shows and so glad we did. I had the mezze platter and my partner had the vegan avocado and eggs on sourdough. Both were exceptional, fresh and delicious. Took brownies and baclava for the journey home. Will absolutely return to this little gem every time I visit Edinburgh in future.

Excellent nutella strawberry pancakes!

Not the greatest bfast place. Service is great but the food was disappointing… I ordered poached eggs on smoked salmon but the eggs were terribly cooked, almost fully boiled. My partner ordered the full bfast and the beans tasted a bit off.

This place is amazing! Made the perfect dry cappuccino. Food is TOP notch. They had something for everyone - from a gigantic plate of egg and toast, smoked salmon avocado toast, to one of the best fish and chips I’ve had on this trip, to an amazing brunch burger for the wee one. Glad we stopped in and found this place. Thank you Rocksalt.

A bit disappointing and expensive

Great place, loaded chips amazing. Plenty of choice including gluten free breads. Will definitely be returning. 👏🏼

Rocksalt is a lovely little cafe on Jeffrey Street, which connects Edinburgh’s Waverley Station on Market Street to the junction of High Street and Canongate (the lower part of the Royal Mile). It’s more spacious and relaxed than the restaurants further up High Street, and the prices are more reasonable too. The full Scottish breakfast I had was delicious. The black pudding, haggis and potato scone were especially mouthwatering, the bacon and sausage were excellent, but there was more bread than I could eat, bulking out the meal, and the baked beans tasted rather odd. The service was efficient and the restaurant was attractively decorated, though the toilets at the back were rather shabby, with a broken toilet seat forlornly awaiting repair. It’s a restaurant I’d happily use again, but there’s such a choice in the area, I’d probably sample others before hurrying straight back.

Rude staff and not very nice food

Not far from The Pleasance Courtyard. Short walk away from the burgers and chips. Don't get me wrong I love The Courtyard, the atmosphere etc. Go every year, it's a highlight of the year for me. All the tables were full in the Courtyard so my sister and myself decided to walk back towards the Waverly Train Station. We saw this cafe and walked in after looking at the menu. Best decision. Run by a family from Turkey with youthful and very kind and engaging staff. Please look at their menu and prices. I'm going back and recommending this Cafe to all.

Popped in for a quick bite on my way to the station. Lovely atmosphere, friendly efficient staff and prices a bargain. Ordered a simple baked potato with cheese and onion and was served a delicious plateful including tasty, fresh salads as well as very nice coffee.

Staff were unfriendly, verging on rude, and we did not feel welcome. The prices were fair and ingredients in the food seemed fresh, but lacking in flavour. I wouldn't recommend Rocksalt Cafe and I wouldn't return. Plenty of other places in the area.

The food is below average. The pancakes are awful. The avocado egg toast was ok but not best. I don’t recommend it.

Great restaurant and cafe. We were there several times within 5 days and everything tasted great. Large portions at a very good price-performance ratio. Pancakes, salads, wraps, paninis and also the cakes were always great. There is also delicious coffee there. We were drawn there again and again. So we can only recommend it.

The food was terrible. Undercooked egg, old tasting salmon, old, mushy salad. Very overpriced for what you get. The menu is huge, perhaps a reduction would help so they can focus on doing fewer dishes to a higher standard. Staff were quite inattentive

Lovely staff and amazing food, Turkish breakfast is a highlight

Amazing experience!! Always make sure to try lots of coffee places when we travel and this one for sure hits top of the list! The food is amazing too and great portions. Sami is a true artist of coffee making. What made the experience even better was the customer we met who seemed to know everyone at the restaurant and gave great advice! Sami even made a Babyccino which was truly appreciated!

I must say I was expecting the friendly staff many reviewers were applauding, but what met us was blank stares by staff that looked fed up. You have to both order and pay at the counter, although they do bring the food to the table. My coffee was forgotten as the couple that ordered after us got their coffee first. I had to go to the counter and ask for it, where a lady just said it's coming. She was at the time preparing food. No apology, no smile, just blank stare. My avokado and haloumi toast was said to contain pomegranate, but when I pointed out there were no seeds on the food, the man explained that they use pomegranate syrup. Shouldn't it then say syrup on the menu and not simply pomegranate? The food was good but grossly overpriced. I don't understand how this café has such a high rating. Would definitely not come again.

We had a really great visit to Rocksalt. They are dog friendly, the service, the choice of food and the portions are great. The coffee was also amazing, I got another one to go with a biscoff slice.

Rock Salt was an excellent little haven to stop in just off of the tourist crush in Edinburgh. It's set up very efficiently (you grab a menu and take a table, order up front) and while busy is still a little more mellow. The food it fantastic! I had a chipotle chicken sandwich - after 8 days in the UK, I was having cumin and jalapeno withdrawals that were totally sated. Everything else we got was excellent as well. Finally, prices and portions were very fair.

Went here everyday when on holiday in Edinburgh. Me and my daughter loved the Turkish breakfast! The staff is really nice and helpful and everything we tried on the menu was delicious. Next time I'm around I'll be back.

Our food and drinks were very good! The avocado toast had feta and a chili oil that added a lot of good flavor. The dessert looked amazing but I wasn’t able to try one.

Turkish Breakfast was delicious and menemen was great. It was a very rich meal and worth the money. Washroom and handwashing area was clean and staff was extremely friendly. Just need some stronger exhaust in kitchen area.

Was looking forward to brunch at this place during my visit but unfortunately it was disappointing. The “turkish” breakfast featured 3 tiny round slices of the sujuk sausage, simple veg cut up, no other sauces, while the scrambled eggs came separately and weren’t particularly tasty. Having tried many Turkish breakfasts before and provided this was the most expensive option on the menu, it was just a really disappointing experience.

Loved this place! Great menu with lots of choice for different diets. Had avocado on toast with halloumi, the bread was fresh and delicious and there was actual flavour added to the avocado with some chilli oil. Good portion size and well priced.

Poorly cooked, low quality ingredients combined with slow service. Not good enough for the price.

Upon entering, was handed a menu and greeted with eagerness and friendliness. I ordered and grabbed a seat. There were families, couples, and friends filling the place, all chatting, vibrant, and happy. Lots of empty plates. I ordered the smoked salmon avocado toast and a mocha with an extra shot. Both exceeded my expectations. The toast was beautifully prepared, the flavors were all well balanced and represented, and the star, the salmon and poached eggs were generous and perfectly executed. The mocha was also presented beautifully. It was the perfect balance of chocolate, coffee, and milk, not too sweet and not too bland. Zero complaints. Super happy. and if I lived here I would be a regular… but Edinburgh has too dang many incredible coffee shops, and I plan to visit as many as humanly possible.

The food is delicious, especially the desserts. I would give the savory ones a 7.5/10, as they were tasty, with satisfactory portions and varieties. The stars are lost on the fact that all the napkins had yellow stains on them. Obviously someone got hold of them with dirty hands when wrapping the cutlery with them. Also at some point a lady came in with a dog and one of the staff members started petting it and shaking it next to the fridge with the water glasses. I have the same dog and I don't hate them, but I don't think this is the best thing. Finally, the waitress looked completely lost when she took the orders to the tables.

Great oat cappuccino 👏 Very nice vegan avocado toast, loaded with wilted spinach, tangy onions, roast tomatoes, and pomegranate syrup. Exactly what I felt like. Portions are generous. Hash browns are a side but worth adding.

We had a fantastic visit at Rocksalt Cafe, the staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and they were generous portions, I recommend the Turkish Breakfast and the brownie. This is a must visit when you’re in Edinburgh and it’s in a great location!

Good breakfast experience. Coffee was just how I like it. Avocado toasts are delish. Egg, sunny side up, was perfect. I only wish for larger tables for more comfortable seating. A choice full breakfast.

Great food & nice ambience for brunch on a Sunday morning. My husband had pancakes with bacon & maple syrup, and I had avocado toast with poached eggs and halloumi. Smoothies also great. We also took away some borek and baklava to have in Holyrood Park- all were excellent.

Had a fantastic breakfast - just what was needed after a night on the whisky. Breakfast was vegan, bursting with flavour, and had the required level of greese to cure any hangover. Coffee had a cute late art element.

My go to place when I want to have brunch and don’t know which new place to try. Really nice waiters. Good coffee they bring from modern standard coffee. The rocksalt pancakes are amazing. They used to be a bit bigger but are still really good. Tried yesterday the chipotle panini and it was very tasty as well.

08-02-24 We ordered a coronation chicken and S&B wrap with an Irn Bru. Fast turnaround and deliciously tasting! Accommodating with swapping the crisps and coleslaw for a larger salad 👌🏼 Not quite 5⭐️ - We did ask for salad with no tomatoes, which needed rectifying. - The S&B came as a panini instead of a wrap. Definitely recommend 🙌🏼

Menu looks great, had potential to be great but they had a incident in the kitchen and the place filled with smoke. No one spoke to the customers regarding this merely openned the front door. Food came out, eggs very overcooked and hard, beans served cold, items missing that took 10minutes to arrive. Not good.

Excellent breakfast with few tourists and a copious menu focused on Mediterranean flavors. We tried their avocado toast with smoked salmon (the spicy oil subtly spiced everything up), the Scottish breakfast (the haggis was approved by the gentleman!) and the hummus, particularly good! We would have liked the café to offer hot tea-based drinks (apart from a simple cup of tea of ​​course) like a chai latte for example) to complement those made from coffee.

Today we tried Rocksalt after hearing some very positive things online, wanted to try it ourselves and left feeling pretty disappointed. Our experience actually began at the entrance where two gentlemen were stood, actually members of staff, one littered in front of us and the other blew snot from his nose on to the floor, it wasn't until we were seated and seen these fellas start working we felt slightly grossed out. We were greeted as we entered and got seated promptly, the next part of our bad experience was when taking a trip to the toilet, the communal sink area soap dispensers were empty and the bottle of carex they'd provided was near empty and had been filled up with water to use up the dregs, another cleanliness red flag. Next we ordered our food and paid at the counter a rather steep £29 odd for a "Full Brekky" two cans of diet coke and the French toast with bacon and maple syrup. The order took near 30 minutes to arrive at the table which felt excessive considering how quiet the place was when we ordered and the French toast appeared to be missing the maple syrup listed on the menu, we asked at the till and we're told it should be on the table already provided with the condiments, ended up borrowing some from another table. The food itself tasted nice however it's just a shame about the really slow service and the way the staff represented the company blowing their snotty beak, poor show.

Great food, friendly staff. Location is also good. The menu has a great selection of tempting dishes. We ate hamburgers and it was very satisfying. They have highchairs for babies.

After ordering The Big Brekky and waiting 30 minutes to find a missing item. Food was good otherwise.

Absolutely delicious scrambled eggs and service. Portion sizes were huge. Came back for the chicken, garlic mayo and avo panini and it was even more delicious. Couldn’t recommend eating here more. They have food for every mood. DELISH!!

Currently sat here reminiscing the beautiful panini I have just devoured. The most incredible chicken panini I have ever ever had. I added goats cheese to mine as an extra and it just elevated it so much. The Turkish breakfast is also delicious and super fresh! Coffee is good too! And price is perfect
