I genuinely cannot tell you how delicious the veggie breakfast and muffin was. It is also huge and I have never regretted not being able to finish a meal more. Service is friendly and it is clear it is a place where pride is taken in their food. If I lived closer, I would eat here all the time. There is also a high chance of puppies which was a massive bonus.

Stumbled upon here whilst looking for lunch and was so pleasantly surprised! Service was super fast and despite it being busy, we got a table for two. We had the bacon mac cheese grill and the minute steak and cheese sandwich and both were delicious. We also shared a portion of house fries which were nice too. I would go back if I was looking for lunch in Leith!

Really cosy wee place with a straightforward brunch menu. Nothing exceptionally fancy, but very tasty and comforting! I love their breakfast rolls and love that they offer vegetarian fillings, like veggie haggis.

Very good lunch. The prices are frankly democratic and the quality is there. Portions are a good size. The service is well provided and attentive. The place seems very popular with the locals. A very nice discovery, I recommend!

My wife and I were through in Edinburgh for a three day break and dropped in for breakfast in the Thirsty Pallet on Tuesday. We were so impressed by the service, the food, and the ambience that we went back this morning. We weren't disappointed. It was just as good. Only wish that we had discovered a day earlier. Don't pass it by - in fact, search for it!

Very friendly welcoming place to get some very tasty food, lots of which is home made, including muffins that came with my eggs Benedict. Good size portion too.

Thank staffs so much for everything you did very good service, hospitality and delicious food. The Eggs Benedict were delicious, the runny eggs and crispy bacon were a perfect match! First day back in Edinburgh and one of the best.

Delicious breakfast for a reasonable price. Our waitress (lady with short blonde hair) was so friendly and accommodating, especially as we had a baby with us. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to return if we’re in the area again, can’t fault it.

Had a bad experience with the waitress, very fussy and rude about my partner using the charging port for his laptop and insisting he buy something even though I had already bought a cappuccino for the both of us. Times cannot be that tough for the business you deny a customer couple of minutes to charge a laptop.

Thank you so much as lovely food and nice lovely customer service, will come again, food was filling which you need on a cold day.

Adorable place to eat and talk 😊

This cafe was fun and upbeat to visit. The service was great and prompt. The prices reasonable and they’re dog friendly. The Ruben breakfast muffin was full mouth experience; sweet and salty without being overwhelming. The lattes were great: rich and full of flavor without being bitter or over-brewed. They’re easy to find and a quick walk from St James Quarter and the hotels in the surrounding area.

I visited on 30/09/23 and it is only a matter of time before this restaurant causes a serious allergy. My husband (who has a range of complex allergies) ordered an item WITHOUT a specific item and the female waitress (who mentioned she was the owners mother) said “it comes with that anyway” and the food arrived WITH the item requested to be removed. An hour later he was ill. So this is going to be reported to the Local Authority. Also, we over heard another customer asking for the same (we are not sure if this was preference or allergy based) and the old woman said “it comes with that anyway” too thick to understand that if the customer does not want the item it is their choice. Also, I tried to order some fresh salmon with toast but the owner’s mother had a bit of an emotional melt down as they did not have an individual price for salmon so suggested charging me for the Salmon Avo £7.50 (fresh salmon, gem lettuce, sliced avocado, cucumber and caper mayo) just to have the salmon. Which is obviously TTP! It has a feel of faulty towers without the jokes!

We brought our 6 month old dog here for his first cafe experience. The staff were really good with him. The food was good and atmosphere really nice.

Looking for some late breakfast/lunch, we came upon this gem on Elm Row and was not disappointed.... Friendly and attentive service - good food and beverages :) Definitely not last time I'll visit...

Took my mum here on our way to Leith, and thought it was a fantastic café. Our server (I assumed also the owner) was incredibly friendly and helpful with our order, checking everything was okay and giving the place a joyful vibe. Food and coffee were both very good (we had Dirty Breakfast Fries and a Reuben sandwich), it was dog friendly, toilets were clean, and the design was really nice. I would definitely return.

Perfect Scottish breakfast. The haggis is easily the best I have had in Edinburgh. Highly recommend!

Best eggs totale I’ve had in Edinburgh till now. I come here in a really quiet time to enjoy something typically Scottish. The place is lovely, food really nice, the hollandaise sauce amazing, really tasty and really flavoured, the service awesome and the place really clean and cute. Suggested to come but considered the prices are a little bit high for the area you’re in.

This place does serve really good food, the staff are friendly and the seats are comfortable but when trying to swap an item on the menu it completely throws them into a tail spin. I didn’t want the haggis and asked for it not to be on the plate, the member of staff an older lady says “it comes with it” I wanted to say if your playing it up what does it matter. I wasn’t going to ask for money off! Guess what it arrived with the haggis on it. Other half just wanted salmon on toast but they couldn’t even comprehend this. It was well cooked and presented nicely the toast took a while to come out. Apart from that a nice place to eat

Been here a few times now, both on my own and with family. We all agree the food is awesome, especially the eggs benny. Quite possibly the best Eggs Benedict in Edinburgh (and I'm a bit of an aficionado)!!

Great food and lovely staff but cannot swap items in the breakfast that you may not like, was advised it comes as it is but if it’s cooked fresh anyway, it would not make a difference on swapping a tattie scone with a hash brown etc, opposed to this, the place is a good place to eat.

Es una acogedora cafetería con fantásticos desayunos escoceses. En nuestra semana de vacaciones en Edimburgo hemos probado diferentes cafeterías y esta es la que más nos ha gustado. Todo está buenísimo, el sitio es muy bonito, los precios son algo más baratos que en el resto y las camareras son súper agradables. Recomendamos el Full Breakfast y los Eggs Royale!!!

Great little independent cafe on Elm Row. The staff made me feel like a regular after about two visits. Food is excellent and very good value. Very chilled community vibe.

A Scottish friend of mine kept banging on about how good square sausage is. So I went to the Thirsty pallet to test it out and I was not disappointed! From the square sausage to the haggis, black pudding, tattie scone, link sausages, vine tomatoes and egg were all perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Might just be the best breakfast I’ve ever tasted!

Absolutely lovely little Cafe. Staff were very accommodating for my Partner's food intolerances. Good, hearty food and a solid selection of hot and cold drinks.

So tasty we went two days in a row for our lunch fabulous morning rolls with link Sausage and eggs with a great cup of tea, you can't fault anything definitely will be going back in the future

Try the egg benedict the way the chef makes it! It is family friendly and nice to see it has a change table to boot! Definitely want to go back to enjoy something else. It is a delightfully run by a mom and son team! They also have this what I thought was an odd combo desert with marshmallows and oats I think… my daughter wanted to try… so did! Think liked it more than she did. Was very good.

Been here twice for breakfast during our vacation. Lovely café with friendly staff, reasonable prices and delicious breakfast/brunch offerings. Highly recommended the Full Scottish breakfast (tastiest haggis I’ve had)and flat white coffee. I enjoyed the warm, tasty, rich and savour Steak and Cheese sandwich - great comfort food. The cafe is doggie friendly

Had lunch at Thirsty Pallet today. Would recommend the Steak and Cheese but everything on the menu sounds amazing! Staff are very friendly and cheerful. Compliments to the chef for fantastic food. We'll be back!

Absolutely loved it. We just arrived on Monday morning and we got into Edinburgh around 10am but didn’t find our accommodation till 11. We were looking for a place for breakfast and found this place. Their breakfast is delicious and this is where I was introduced to tattie scones. Cannot wait for our next visit to Edinburgh will definitely be in for breakfast.

Stopped in for a bite for lunch. Very tasty all day breakfast for me, and a muffin for my OH. Both very content, good feed and the service was great too, very friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend if your looking for somewhere for a quick breakfast or lunch. Cakes are great too 🍰

We had brunch here and loved it. Great, friendly service and fab food. The menu is quite small which is good because it means fresh ingredients and they can concentrate on serving really well made food. Would strongly recommend.

Was in Edinburgh on vacation and stumbled across this place just looking for coffee but saw the menu and stayed for breakfast! So happy we did, coffee and food were both so amazing! The creativity and flavors of the Benedict’s were the best I’ve ever had. Makes me sad I’m not a local, we’ve been talking about the food ever since.

From the moment we walked in, the host was welcoming and made us laugh. Never ask for an English breakfast tea in Scotland. The food was delicious and very filling. The service was quick and helpful.

staff are all very friendly and helpful! the hot chocolate was 10/10 very rich and creamy, super chocolatey and beats costa and starbucks any day! coffee was very good too with lots of selection for syrups too. the chicken caesar salad was incredible, best i’ve ever tasted and i want more! the decor is stunning and has a very cosy vibe which makes it lovely to take shelter in during the cold :)

We visit the Thirsty Pallet regularly for coffee, breakfast or lunch as it’s convenient for meeting family. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. New menu offers more vegetarian options, would be good to see a few more vegan...

Absolutely love this place. Delicious breakfast and lunch. We come often and have yet to have a bad thing on the menu. We enjoy the casual atmosphere and dog friendly seating. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great coffee and drinks as well! They also do take away.

Surprised this place has such a high rating, it wasn’t that great. The cappuccino was too foamy and the eggs royale was quite bland.

I like the way they have used wooden pallets for furniture & décor (hence the name). Staff were very friendly, service was good even though they were busy. Good selection of fries, sandwiches & muffins, and the coffee was decent too.

Staff friendly and great service. Food is 6 stars if possible. Menu is top quality, recommend the toasted sandwiches. Cakes are amazing. Pallet furniture is worth a visit alone.

Nice food after long wait. Staff trying to be nice but struggling to perform due to inexperience and/or a lack of training.

Got a Ploughman’s sandwich and the cheese was completely missing. Disappointing for £7 sandwich. Was difficult to taste much beyond the red onion chutney as well, but others might like that. I got it to takeaway so couldn’t say it to staff to change it.
