lovely coffee here, beautifully presented - much better than any large coffee chain can offer.

Gorgeous coffee, muffins and morning rolls. Somewhat limited selection but all tasted great, reasonably priced and everything was served in great time.

Was told to take a seat and a n2nu would be brought over. I waited 10 minutes and no menu was brought over

I couldn’t wait till we left the thirsty pallet to start this review, it deserves every star given. I got the steak and cheese flatbread while my boyfriend got the morning muffin. Both were amazing, the staff were wonderful and it was just a great experience.

Called in for a coffee and a scone this morning. Quick excellent service and the coffee was perfect but, charging over £3 for a scone which tasted and felt like it was 3 days old…ended up feeding it to the birds in gayfield square…if you’re charging full price for your baking, it has to be fresh. If it’s like it was today either make it half price or give it away or put it in the bin

Popped in for a coffee and was delighted to find a new favourite coffee spot. Serving staff were excellent. Coffee was perfect and a warm fruit scone topped it off. I’ll be back!

Lovely food, lovely staff, lovely clientele, lovely ambience. Home-baked breads complement a range of delicious fillings (everything from avocado to haggis, combined if u wish): muffins, flatbread, scones, with healthy and not-so healthy options. But always fresh and tasty

Really friendly staff and amazing food

Smashing coffee, incredible breakfast. First time home for years and this made it extra special and made me feel at home, fantastic service. A visit here will not be regretted.

As you can imagine from the name all the furniture is made from upcycled pallets and it’s surprisingly comfortable. The food was nicely presented and tasted good and coffee decent but the great service is what stood out most. This is a dog friendly place and I would recommend going. Wonderful nice lady who was serving. 5 stars to her and the waiting staff. Sadly the chef took against me for choosing to take the bacon out of my sandwich and refused to serve me (they had a bacon and egg roll on the menu and i asked to have cheese only). Also witnessed the chef shouting and screaming at the kitchen staff, very rude man! Very unfriendly and will not be coming back.

Looking for somewhere for breakfast when we were staying in Edinburgh that was a change from our hotel. Looked up places with the best reviews near by for a fully cooked we ended up at the Thirsty Pallet. Great service from the minute we walked in the door. Food all cooked fresh and was just what we needed to start the day! All delicious and a lovely chat with the owner at the end who made us feel more than welcome. Thank you!

My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast and we were not disappointed! I had the Scottish breakfast. I had never had haggis or tattie scones before. Both were delicious. My husband had a breakfast sandwich on a fresh baked muffin. Our lattes were perfect. Everything here is made to order and baked right in house. The food and service is excellent!

One of the best places in town to get a legitimate Scottish breakfast for not much money. It’s got all the hallmarks and quirks of a family run business. The morning rolls are great—you can pick the fillings you want including the classics like square sausage, which is great here. The staff are always really friendly.

A friend and I visited this lovel establishment, mainly for tea and coffee. Since the appetite desired it, could not resist and ordered the very classic scottish breakfast platter. The portion was satisfying, with a simple yet harmonius presentation and the taste was just right. The staff were absolutely great, did service with a smile and checked on our table a couple of times to make sure everything is okay. If you are in the area, definitely check this place out. ^_ ^ <3

Disappointing. The type of bread used is inappropriate for the filling as it just broke apart. The mushrooms were raw and spinach not cooked properly as it left the whole sandwich wet from the water both vegetables omit when undercooked. Onions weren't caramelised at all, just pan fried for service. Threw the whole thing out and made myself something else at home. Won't be back.

Popped I here ad hoc for a very late brunch. Nicely situated at the of Leith walk , excellent access to trampoline and bus stops Nice menu, freshly prepared food. Club sandwich, Tuna melt ordered. Filling ( as we were starving!). Nice service staff. Shared a couple of traybakes £27. Sorry no photos, too hungry

Lovely atmosphere and service but the chef refused to take things off the veggie breakfast plate to make it vegan. So I went to the Sly Fox instead, which was lush. Edit in reply - normally baked beans and toast don’t contain dairy but no worries I’m sure the kitchen was busy and it would have been difficult to swap round. There are lots of vegans in the areas so just an idea.

Had the best veggie Scottish breakfast. Loved the place and very friendly people. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a cozy friendly and good food.

This is a lovely, friendly wee place with yummy sandwiches and homemade flat breads with delicious fillings. Staff are enthusiastic and helpful. Went back another day for a cuppa and ended up having a home baked scone too! So good.

Very nice food, fiendly service and good value

Every place I visit I always try out traditional food and find this place where they could serve all day "Traditional Full Scottish Breakfast" (especially when you won't wake up the earliest during a holiday) and end up having breakfast past one today. Linda and Alicia had assisted us happily and courteously. They made sure we were comfortable and if we needed anything more. I definitely enjoyed the food and vibe - the place was very cosy and relaxing. Their menu was very simple (in one page) yet full of flavor. Positive for a recommendation.

Great place in Edinburgh. It was my first Scottish Breakfast and it was everything that I thought it would be. Nicely spiced Lorne Sausage & Haggis and a lovely Tattie Scone - all freshly cooked. The older lady that was there was very welcoming and looked after us very well! Dog friendly was a must for us as we travelled over 450+ miles to get here from the south west of England. Excellent little place and not too far from the very expensive St James Corner multistory car park! Will definitely be back again.

Friendly, casual spot - perfect for a quick bite or coffee. A the team members were lovely and happy to answer any questions. Good selection of sandwiches and brunch/breakfast options. Very dog friendly - one pup beside us had a little bed and she didn't want to leave :)

Been here many times and always have a great experience. The menu is interesting. There are a few alternatives apart from the “boring poached eggs with different seasoning”. The price is good - a little bit lower than other same kind of cafe. The service is good too - always friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Cafè in Edinburgh! It wasn’t far from our AirBnb, and we stumbled across it while exploring the city. The restaurant staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. We even went back the next day to eat their delicious breakfast! Best (and biggest) scones ever!

A nice little spot with a good array of cakes, drinks, and lunch options. A little short on vegetarian/vegan options for lunch, but the what is on offer is tasty. Nice wooden decor with cosy corners and a warm feel. Friendly service that is attentive without being pestering.

Nice little cafe. The seating is made from pallets; which is why the café is named that way. The sandwich was very nice; the coffee too. The staff was very friendly and nice.

Fantastic and friendly service with a smile. The lady taking our order was patient and listened as our toddler has a few dietary requirements. The food was amazing. All of us cleaned our plates and it set us up nicely for a day exploring.

I genuinely cannot tell you how delicious the veggie breakfast and muffin was. It is also huge and I have never regretted not being able to finish a meal more. Service is friendly and it is clear it is a place where pride is taken in their food. If I lived closer, I would eat here all the time. There is also a high chance of puppies which was a massive bonus.

Stumbled upon here whilst looking for lunch and was so pleasantly surprised! Service was super fast and despite it being busy, we got a table for two. We had the bacon mac cheese grill and the minute steak and cheese sandwich and both were delicious. We also shared a portion of house fries which were nice too. I would go back if I was looking for lunch in Leith!

Really cosy wee place with a straightforward brunch menu. Nothing exceptionally fancy, but very tasty and comforting! I love their breakfast rolls and love that they offer vegetarian fillings, like veggie haggis.

Very good lunch. The prices are frankly democratic and the quality is there. Portions are a good size. The service is well provided and attentive. The place seems very popular with the locals. A very nice discovery, I recommend!

My wife and I were through in Edinburgh for a three day break and dropped in for breakfast in the Thirsty Pallet on Tuesday. We were so impressed by the service, the food, and the ambience that we went back this morning. We weren't disappointed. It was just as good. Only wish that we had discovered a day earlier. Don't pass it by - in fact, search for it!

Very friendly welcoming place to get some very tasty food, lots of which is home made, including muffins that came with my eggs Benedict. Good size portion too.

Thank staffs so much for everything you did very good service, hospitality and delicious food. The Eggs Benedict were delicious, the runny eggs and crispy bacon were a perfect match! First day back in Edinburgh and one of the best.

Delicious breakfast for a reasonable price. Our waitress (lady with short blonde hair) was so friendly and accommodating, especially as we had a baby with us. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to return if we’re in the area again, can’t fault it.

Had a bad experience with the waitress, very fussy and rude about my partner using the charging port for his laptop and insisting he buy something even though I had already bought a cappuccino for the both of us. Times cannot be that tough for the business you deny a customer couple of minutes to charge a laptop.

Adorable place to eat and talk 😊

This cafe was fun and upbeat to visit. The service was great and prompt. The prices reasonable and they’re dog friendly. The Ruben breakfast muffin was full mouth experience; sweet and salty without being overwhelming. The lattes were great: rich and full of flavor without being bitter or over-brewed. They’re easy to find and a quick walk from St James Quarter and the hotels in the surrounding area.

I visited on 30/09/23 and it is only a matter of time before this restaurant causes a serious allergy. My husband (who has a range of complex allergies) ordered an item WITHOUT a specific item and the female waitress (who mentioned she was the owners mother) said “it comes with that anyway” and the food arrived WITH the item requested to be removed. An hour later he was ill. So this is going to be reported to the Local Authority. Also, we over heard another customer asking for the same (we are not sure if this was preference or allergy based) and the old woman said “it comes with that anyway” too thick to understand that if the customer does not want the item it is their choice. Also, I tried to order some fresh salmon with toast but the owner’s mother had a bit of an emotional melt down as they did not have an individual price for salmon so suggested charging me for the Salmon Avo £7.50 (fresh salmon, gem lettuce, sliced avocado, cucumber and caper mayo) just to have the salmon. Which is obviously TTP! It has a feel of faulty towers without the jokes!

We brought our 6 month old dog here for his first cafe experience. The staff were really good with him. The food was good and atmosphere really nice.

Took my mum here on our way to Leith, and thought it was a fantastic café. Our server (I assumed also the owner) was incredibly friendly and helpful with our order, checking everything was okay and giving the place a joyful vibe. Food and coffee were both very good (we had Dirty Breakfast Fries and a Reuben sandwich), it was dog friendly, toilets were clean, and the design was really nice. I would definitely return.

Perfect Scottish breakfast. The haggis is easily the best I have had in Edinburgh. Highly recommend!

Best eggs totale I’ve had in Edinburgh till now. I come here in a really quiet time to enjoy something typically Scottish. The place is lovely, food really nice, the hollandaise sauce amazing, really tasty and really flavoured, the service awesome and the place really clean and cute. Suggested to come but considered the prices are a little bit high for the area you’re in.

This place does serve really good food, the staff are friendly and the seats are comfortable but when trying to swap an item on the menu it completely throws them into a tail spin. I didn’t want the haggis and asked for it not to be on the plate, the member of staff an older lady says “it comes with it” I wanted to say if your playing it up what does it matter. I wasn’t going to ask for money off! Guess what it arrived with the haggis on it. Other half just wanted salmon on toast but they couldn’t even comprehend this. It was well cooked and presented nicely the toast took a while to come out. Apart from that a nice place to eat

Great food and lovely staff but cannot swap items in the breakfast that you may not like, was advised it comes as it is but if it’s cooked fresh anyway, it would not make a difference on swapping a tattie scone with a hash brown etc, opposed to this, the place is a good place to eat.

Es una acogedora cafetería con fantásticos desayunos escoceses. En nuestra semana de vacaciones en Edimburgo hemos probado diferentes cafeterías y esta es la que más nos ha gustado. Todo está buenísimo, el sitio es muy bonito, los precios son algo más baratos que en el resto y las camareras son súper agradables. Recomendamos el Full Breakfast y los Eggs Royale!!!

Great little independent cafe on Elm Row. The staff made me feel like a regular after about two visits. Food is excellent and very good value. Very chilled community vibe.

A Scottish friend of mine kept banging on about how good square sausage is. So I went to the Thirsty pallet to test it out and I was not disappointed! From the square sausage to the haggis, black pudding, tattie scone, link sausages, vine tomatoes and egg were all perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Might just be the best breakfast I’ve ever tasted!

Try the egg benedict the way the chef makes it! It is family friendly and nice to see it has a change table to boot! Definitely want to go back to enjoy something else. It is a delightfully run by a mom and son team! They also have this what I thought was an odd combo desert with marshmallows and oats I think… my daughter wanted to try… so did! Think liked it more than she did. Was very good.

Been here twice for breakfast during our vacation. Lovely café with friendly staff, reasonable prices and delicious breakfast/brunch offerings. Highly recommended the Full Scottish breakfast (tastiest haggis I’ve had)and flat white coffee. I enjoyed the warm, tasty, rich and savour Steak and Cheese sandwich - great comfort food.
