The Milkman in Edinburgh, City of

I came here based on all the previous reviews. Decent location. Very small inside I’d say 8-10 seats max. No flavoured coffees. I ordered a latte(came in a flat white sized cup) hot chocolate and two tray bakes) £14.50. It’s overpriced but then again you’re in the tourist part of Edinburgh. The coffee was ok, could have been hotter, similar for the hot chocolate. The buns were fairly tasty, but again it’s not hard to make a brownie tasty. Maybe I didn’t get the barista that makes the amazing coffee, in summary it’s an ok coffee and bun for an inflated price, but sorry I’m not giving 12.5% tip for a takeaway coffee.

The best coffee I’ve had in a long time. Very cozy little cafe with very friendly and easy going staff. Had a good cruffin as well. Delicious.

Tiny space, cosy, nicely decorated. However the staff are woefully unemployed - four of them ensconced behind servery - four staff on a Monday morning.

Super cute cozy cafe. Stopped by here on the way to the Edinburgh Castle and got a latte and cruffin. There was a wait due to the place being quite popular. There were a couple of seats outside but you’ll most likely have to share with other parties. They do have matcha lattes. Credit cards accepted.

Pastry and matcha latte were incredible. genuinely the best matcha latte i’ve ever had. price was decent and lovely chill atmosphere would 100% go again

Excellent homemade tasty food, good varied menu and extremely helpful staff, although limited seating well worth waiting for a free table.

Not what it’s cracked up to be. Coffee was just ok, no almond milk, mocha latte they couldn’t ice, pastries look wonderful but don’t taste wonderful and it’s crowded with very little seating. There are better places to go.

I was impressed but the highly rated reviews and pictures. But was disappointed on arrival. Seating is poor next to none, and cramped shop, with not much variety. Amazing coffee and even better food. We ate/drank here numerous times over the course of our stay in Edinburgh. We had planned on trying different coffee shops but after visiting here found it hard to want to go anywhere else. Lovely little shops if you are looking for somewhere to sit and have a quite coffee and some food in the heart of Edinburgh

Saw the good reviews on this coffee shop and thought I’d give it a try! The coffee and cakes were very tasty - both reasonably priced too. Staff were very friendly and the cafe had a lovely atmosphere - not many seats but I think this adds to the cosy feel. Will definitely be returning!

We had eyed these cakes on several walks around Edinburgh and knew we wanted to buy some. They had a great selection , and the man who served us explained what each of them was. He was so friendly and really made our cake buying experience so nice with the little chat that we had with him. We ordered a raspberry frangipane tart, oreo brownie (vegan), millionaires shortbread and a rocky road. He boxed them up for us and we ate them at the airport, feeling very smug. Delicious.

This was a perfect Aussie flat white and latte. The cakes and pasties were delicious and left us wanting more. We were so impressed we had 2 coffees and came back the next day for the same. Different pastries to choose form on the second day.

We found this coffee shop with great reviews. We love great coffee so thought we would give this a go. We were not disappointed. Not only was the coffee fantastic and the hot chocolate was out of this world, the man that served us went above and beyond. He wrote out some recommendations to where is good in edinburgh to visit and eat as well. I was blown away with this service. We will be returning. Just wish they had a shop in Leeds.

I found out about this place on TikTok. I’m so glad my husband and I came. It was so good we turned up two days in a row. First day I bought a brownie with nuts on and a white hot chocolate, both were amazing. Second day I bought a normal hot chocolate, another brownie (same as the previous day) a walnut brownie and a matcha latte, all tasted absolutely amazing. It was my first time trying a matcha latte and I’m glad it was from here. The ladies working here were also so polite and always had a smile on their face, great customer service. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know.

Served by a lovely young guy who was flat out and working on his own but still making quick coffees and pleasant conversation. Good coffee and the cakes looked nice too. There seemed to be two separate shopfronts at either end of the street, but one was under renovation so not sure if they are relocating or they actually have two sites.

This café offers a pleasant chai latte and an excellent decaffeinated cappuccino. I would recommend it for takeaway drinks, but due to the lack of seating, would advise against choosing this option for a relaxed chat on a rainy day. There were no savoury options during my lunchtime visit and the only gluten-free option was the amaretti biscuit, which turned out to be a bad choice for my friend (who had tried the version with jam) and I who had tried the jam-free version. I don't know whether my version was stale, but it tasted too bad for me to swallow the small bite I had taken.
