Excellent breakfast, had bacon waffles, flat white and berry smoothie. All excellent, great service too.

Went here specifically craving buttermilk waffles with bacon and strawberries, and they did not disappoint! Solid 9/10—the portion size was generous, and the waffles were absolutely delicious with fresh strawberries, cream, and crispy bacon. The bacon was a little too fried for my liking, but overall, it was really, really good. My partner ordered a breakfast roll, but he wasn’t too impressed considering the price. The roll itself wasn’t warm, though the sausage and bacon inside were nicely heated. According to him, it was just mid. The coffees were a bit of a letdown. The mocha barely had any chocolate flavor (2/10), though it was nicely presented—it tasted more like a latte. My iced latte was slightly better (5/10), but nothing special. The total came to £33, which felt a bit steep, but I’d definitely come back for the waffles because they were amazing! 🧇

The place is small but very cozy. We came here looking to have something delicious for breakfast and we were not disappointed. They offer both sweet and savory options. The contrast of flavors is a success 👏🏼

I walked in after exploring Edinburgh for a few hours, needing some comfort food and this did not disappoint. Opted in for a soup with half baguette (£7.50) and while there were no veggie options on the menu the lady kindly offered to swap salami for aubergine. Food tasted fresh and homemade, it was exactly what I needed. Despite being by myself I was pretty much left alone to rest and enjoy the warmth before heading out again, both the lady serving and the chef were so lovely and accommodating!

I love this place. Coffee is amazing and the staff is very nice and helpful but unfortunately this place is overpriced… Seriously overpriced. Normally I don’t care about the price - quality is more important than a price but £8 for a morning roll?! I am sorry but it’s like a crime… It’s a shame because I am not gonna go there and buy food for that much if I can go literally anywhere and get it for less.

Nice place for a quick coffee or brunch. The service was fast and the staff were polite and helpful. Try the waffle with bacon and Marple syrup , the eggs Benedict were also very tasty.

We had a really great soup+ half baguette combo for 7,5£. The oat cappuccino tasted perfectly. I would just say the interior needs some touches to make the place stand out more.

Looking for a place to have a snack we ended up here and the truth is that it was a success. The staff was very friendly and the waffle was very delicious.

To taste. It was colder and less sugary after visiting Calton Hill than I remember, but it was fun to sit and watch the day change to warm up my body. The tea smells good too.

This place was very busy when we went but the service was still fast and the coffee a food was stunning.

Slow service, mediocre food, atmosphere not particularly great. Perhaps it was cus I went in single and so they were discriminating towards me, but they decided to ignore me and take the order from a couple instead when I tried to flag a waiter down. Then they served a couple who came in and placed their order way later than me and serve them first before serving me the wrong dish, and they never apologized for serving me for it. I ordered a salmon egg Benedict and it was super underwhelming. The sauce was tasteless, and the entire dish was under seasoned. I could have made something similar myself better, and I barely have any cooking experience beyond a few months where I cooked for myself. Worst of all, it costed 15 pounds not including coffee. Overall, terrible overrated overpriced cafe. Maybe come in for a coffee or a coffee takeout and expect everything else to be disappointing.

Eggs Benedict - two small dry muffins, overcooked bacon, bland Hollandaise v lil of it and with a lemony taste. £14 Disappointment. Was looking for a good Eggs Benedict and this is recommended via Google as one of the best in Edinburgh.

Over hyped. Instagram-able & gorgeous looking & lots of green / environmental claims BUT our food was stone COLD! Staff didn’t care. Bustling atmosphere. My eggs benedict w/ side of sausage (avoid pork sausage low meat content, floury, mushy & flavourless).

Having been well impressed with Papii in February I’ve been determined to get back and yesterday was that day. The coffee is absolutely amazing. My wife had waffles and I had eggs Benedict and I had a cinnamon bun to go. We managed to hit that spell between the breakfast and lunchtime rushes too. Can’t wait for next time

I had the bacon & maple syrup waffles and an iced chai latte, both of which were up there with the best I’ve ever had! The waffles were so light and fluffy (something that I loved as I hate when waffles are too heavy), meaning that I was able to ease all of them. The chai latte was amazing and I’ll definitely be going here for one next time I’m in Edinburgh. Servers were so lovely and helpful too. Couldn’t recommend this place enough :)

Cozy cafe with delicious food and coffee options. Usually very crowded in the mornings, especially during Summer months.

Before leaving, we went for brunch at this spot. We ordered the strawberry cream waffle with bacon, topped with maple syrup, bacon, strawberries, and cream. We also had eggs Benedict, which had a spinach base. Overall, the food was very mediocre. The eggs Benedict lacked flavor and were too bland, while the waffle was overly sweet. The dishes were on completely different levels of taste. Additionally, the service was quite slow, even though the place wasn’t busy. The meal cost around £40 for two drinks and two dishes, which didn’t feel worth it given the overall experience.

Wait was long to get a table. Once we got a table the wait was long to have our order taken. We ordered lattes and eggs Benedict’s. The salmon was cold on my Royale, the lattes came out after the eggs because they were probably forgotten. Not happy at all with the experience, not sure why they are rated so highly.

We looked for a place to have lunch after arriving in Edinburgh. We stumbled across Papii and were unexpectedly really happy with the choice. The staff was absolutely helpful and friendly, and the food was delicious and fairly priced.

Caveating we are kiwi and Aussie where breakfast culture is what we live and breathe. This was not it for us. It’s more of a place for waffles / scones / people who want to Instagram such things. Coffee and b&e lovers this place isn’t for you.

Average eggs benedict and coffee, came across this one as we were searching for eggs benedict then saw good ratings of this place so went there on the first day, there was a long queue so didn’t get to eat there. We went back on the second day and there was no queue. We tried eggs benedict and eggs royale both were average, nothing wow, maybe we were expecting too much given high ratings. Also bought millionaire shortbread to take away but also was average.

Came here because it was so highly rated, but was disappointed. The staff was very friendly. There was some work going on in the windows. I ordered the Eggs Florentine, my wife got waffles with bacon. Even though there were only 5 tables and not all full, it still took 20 minutes to get our simple meals. When it arrived, the food was not hot. The spinach was actually cold, as was the sauce. The sauce was very pleasant, with a fresh, lemon zing. The eggs were lukewarm warm. The bacon was also lukewarm. The music, however, was the really downer. It was loud and bass heavy, making any conversation impossible. Most likely, I’m just not cool enough to appreciate it at 9:30 in the morning. I don’t think we’ll come back.

I was on a leisure trip to Edinburgh with my partner and our furry mascot named Squeezee, we chose this diner for our breakfast near our hotel, about a 5 minute walk, we had to wait about 10/15 minutes before being seated because the place was full, given the small size there will almost always be a wait, there were both locals and tourists inside. We had a cappuccino, a coffee (don't take coffee because it's something terrifying, in all the places we tried the coffee has a terrible flavour, acidic I'd say) some waffles and some pan au chocolate, all tasty, except the coffee which I would have avoided. The only negative note, but also a very important one, the waiters and chefs are a bit scruffy, when handling the food I would pay attention to cleanliness and appearance, one passes by because on holiday and above all because it is a diner, but for the prices proposed for a breakfast I would also try to take care of the details. We spent around £45 as a couple.

Stopped in after a ridiculously early morning for some grub and didn’t disappoint. Food was great (strawberries were really juicy and sweet!), service was lovely and prompt, quiet little place with very chill vibes. Would recommend! (Update) We caved and got the scones at the end of our meal, and I have no regrets. Perfectly fluffy and delicious, and such a generous portion too! No pictures unfortunately, as we gobbled it down too quickly xD

Super friendly waiters and food. Everything was fresh and delicious. I can especially recommend the very merry berry smoothie. We went almost every morning during our stay. Really the best café in Edinburgh. The prices are fair and the music suits the café well (Abba, Queen, and more classics). It is not very big but that is its charm. You may wait up to 5minutes to be seated, when very full. All in all the best café in town, would recommend.

I was looking for a restaurant with a good brunch and I'm glad I came across this one. The employees, very kind and caring, offered me a table right in the window of the shop that I had a view of the street to enjoy my breakfast. Maybe the best eggs I've ever eaten, the idea with the lemon zest is amazing! Even the tea was delicious.

The coffee is delicious, smooth and rich! - Bacon Maple Waffles I personally like the waffles to be toasted and crispy, but paired with the crispy bacon, the texture also has another characteristic. It can be shared by two people without being too greasy! - Vegetable Panini The taste is bland and generally acceptable!

A good breakfast to start a good day of visiting, arriving there at 9am is a good thing so as to avoid waiting outside for a place to become available. If you come around 10/11 a.m. you risk waiting. Good welcome, great service, pastries not very very good but we will skip it, Cajun chicken really very good.

Very good value, tasty granola bowl. Loads of fresh fruit. Delicious yoghurt. Very healthy. Bacon roll was in a very 'bready' roll and bacon tasty but pre-cooked so rather cool on reheating. Not such good value as the granola.

Walked in rain and hail to reach this coffee shop since it was the only one that based on the Google review would offer various gluten free options in the area and I was famished. They had none of the gluten free options publicised in the menu. They could not offer any suggestions. So I ended up with a mango smoothie…please remove misleading info from Google

My scone and tea were nice but the eggs Benedict was strange. Eggs poached nicely but the hollandaise was cold and sour tasting.

My partner and I visited for breakfast. We were amazed by the food. We both had waffles to share. We tried the bacon and maple syrup and the strawberries and maple syrup to split together. Couldn’t recommend them enough! The best coffee I have had whilst visiting Edinburgh, enough to get one to go after our visit. Highly recommend. The staff member even put sugar in my to go coffee without destroying the coffee art on top! You can tell they care about making good coffee and not in a rush to give out quickly made and burnt coffee. Very small place with limited tables, wait outside until there is a table ready. It is so worth the wait!!

Absolutely first class. The best coffee I’ve had for years. We had a bit of time to pass whilst waiting for a train and a quick spy on TA found Pappi and it looked great. The place was busy and we managed to get squeezed in. My wife had buttermilk waffles with strawberries and maple syrup and I had eggs benedict. Everything was perfect and I’ll be back when next in town.

Wir waren gestern hier frühstücken. Wir hatten Glück und sofort einen Platz für zwei erhalten, in diesem gemütlichen Lokal. Die Waffeln waren sehr lecker und das Trinken welches wir dazu bestellt hatten, war auch super! Ebenfalls positiv zu erwähnen war, dass trotzdem das alles sehr schnell serviert wurde. Unser Meinung nach, ist dieser Coffeeshop ist sehr empfehlenswert! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

From the food to the service, this place is the cutest. Their waffles and Cajun pasta was 10/10 and as busy as they were, the service was extremely efficient. And I personally stared at every plate coming out to confirm the consistency of this. The staff puts a lot of soul and heart into this and it shows. Wholesome vibes.

So good! Very small but has a big menu fast service and most importantly SUCH GOOD FOOD! I had the strawberries and waffles and the pasta and both were so delicious. I was especially impressed with the pasta!
